The first batch was a little overcooked (we wouldn't have noticed, honestly) so when they brought it out, they said they were cooking us another batch right then but if we wanted the "overcooked" batch while we waited, we were welcome to them. Ok so me and wife wanted to roadtrip it down to Murphy on one of her days off so I looked for good places to eat down there and this Mom & Pops showed up in the top ten places for the area. The staff was absolutely awesome and gave great service and were kind folks with no attitudes like I saw in a FEW reviews. The dining room had and old rustic country look of a diner with booths and chairs and tables. The food was excellent I had the triple bacon cheeseburger all in with sweet potato fries and a drink and wife had the single cheeseburger and sweet potato fries and drink also. Folks I look for places like this as these are real smash burgers with real ingredients like they should be with quality ingredients and huge buns to boot. The sweet potato fries were awesome and salted I think with kosher salt it was a coarse salt anyway but were unique and delicious. I didn't take any pictures as there are plenty on yelp or any other place you look. The wife also smashed her burger and we also talked about making this a once a month kind of road trip. It was a 10 out of 10 in my book and I will be back. read more

Right off the bat as soon as we walked into the place Front door was Filthy like 10 Huskies had been licking the door for grease and we went to the restroom before we placed our order. I had a Bad feeling! Restroom was M/W, filthy! The dining room was no different, tables and floors were disgusting. We were out of options for open places that day, so we placed our order. One regular Cheeseburger with Onion Rings, and One Double Cheeseburger with fries. It's not the worst meal I have ever been served but it is probably close to the top, especially considering the price of the meal. It's not cheap! $26+ for two meals with water. The onion rings were uneatable! They were coated in a thick batter like pancakes and it was disgusting. The burger patty actually had a halfway decent taste, but it was cold and disguised by the huge bun. I like to support local businesses instead of chains, but clearly this place makes it hard. read more

I heard good things about this and I wanted to like it. The burger was terrible. Bun was ice cold, meat was bone dry, very little cheese, barely any onions. Fries and onion rings were average at best. To top it off, the androgynous thing at the front counter was rude for no reason whatsoever. This place sucks and I'm never going back. I wanted to give this restaurant a second chance as my past visit the dining room was really dirty and so were the tables . Let's start with the food as far as sandwiches they do a pretty good job on quality and taste. One thing I find really bad is the individual. That brings your food to you as he is dressed in a very loose tank top with hair and skin showing all over the place. Not a pleasing sight when you what to eat. One sign the table and floors in the eating area is dirty. No one cleaning tables. Food is good here I just wished they would clean dining room and dress better. As I have spoken in my previous posts I have a restaurant background and I call it as I see it. Had to update my review after eating . I got a hamburger and a hot dog all the way . The hamburger was ok. I asked for chili on the burger and the chili was cold and the bun was ice cold too. Now let's go yo the hot dog. The bun was cold. The hot dog was cold and so was the chili. Well I gave them another chance sad to say I will not be coming back. I wish Murphy had a cook-out burger place. Lot better food. read more

This place certainly doesn't look like much, but the food is excellent. Great burgers. Great fries. Just a really good place for a basic hamburger and fries. The price however, is steep the people in front of us - - a mother a father and a six-year-old girl paid $43 for their meal for three people, including a kids meal. Burger Boy was recommended by a fried who said it's better than Chevelle's! Let's start with the positives! Wonderful and friendly staff, warm greetings and waited patiently while we looked over the menu. Simple, and typical choices for a burger joint. Very reasonable prices, burger, side and drink (They serve Pepsi and freshly brewed tea, unsweetened and sweet). They had a variety of options besides burgers, tenders, hot dogs and chicken sandwiches. Side dishes were krinkle kut fries, fried pickles, mozzarella sticks and a few other choices. Burgers cooked to order, fresh meat, not frozen and delivered in about 10 minutes. The burgers had a great crust, fresh toppings, condiments and fresh buns. Now here comes the negatives! Outside: Windows and doors were filthy! Building could use a hosing down as well as the parking lot. Not to mention the trash on the ground needed picking up! Dining area: Tables were dirty, not wiped and the floors had a bit of an unclean odor. No decor, just a place to sit and eat. Not that there is anything wrong with that! Did not use the restrooms. Food: Buns not grilled (I'm assuming you can have it grilled) so ice cold and stiff. Fries were half cooked and tasted raw and cold in the center. Fried pickles were burnt and it was time to change the cooking oil! Burgers were just "okay" and as far as better than Chevelle's, not even on par with them! Would we eat there again? Yes but would discuss having the buns grilled and the fried crispy, and not burn the fried pickles. We will return and update the restaurant in the next couple of months. Soooo..... we've been living in the area for 2 years now and just found this place. Yelp got us here searching for "best burger near me". After reading the reviews, most were great, with complaints coming from whiners saying the place had "dirty windows, etc". I'll tell ya, I'm fairly picky and really enjoyed the food here as well as the vibe. It's a family owned business, focused on unhealthy burgers and other fried matter. And man do they do that well !! My wife and I each ordered a cheeseburger meal, and one of us had crinkle-cut fries and the other had tots. All delivered on exactly what I had hoped for - properly fried potatoes, quality beef with cheese, and a soft bun. Check, check, and check. In addition to this, the tomatoes were perfectly ripe, and the service could not have been better. You should def visit this spot for a "local burger and fries", you'll be happy u did. read more

We stopped in for a quick snack while out running around for the day. It's conveniently located & easy enough to get in & out of. I ordered mozzarella sticks & my mother got a burger. And so the tour of Foodie Heaven (Murphy, NC) continues. Daily made, fresh, ice cold, coleslaw chopped into tiny crunchy, refreshing bites... oh boy! Please get the coleslaw, you will thank me (and Burger Boy) for this little container of love. I ordered the cheeseburger with blue cheese crumbles instead of the standard cheddar and hubby had the hamburger and crinkle fries. Homemade, misshapen (which means they haven't manhandled them to death) patties that aren't filled with seasonings and odd flavors that jump out to surprise you at inopportune times. As good as you make at home on the grill but without the effort and clean up. Just an outstanding all-American burger that are so hard to find anymore. The fries were big fat crinkle cut like Grandma used to make, and not too done so the innards have turned to mush. Wonderful experience all around. It made us realize just how few Mom & Pop restaurants are out there any more and the massive difference between these little goldmines and the monster chains we all tend to frequent far too often. read more

My husband and I visited this tiny burger joint while out for lunch. Very good and very friendly people! Not very expensive for all the food you get. The burger was a great size and yummy - I'd say just season the burger meat a bit more but that's just my preference. Definitely one of the best burger places around Murphy. read more

I really wanted to like this place. I've been there numerous times and the food was reasonably priced and decent. The staff had always been friendly but the negative was the place was and is VERY dirty. Tried it again this week. Ordered a burger, fried onion and ketchup. Food comes and it has raw onions and mustard. I take it to the counter and nicely point out the mistake. The person that took the order was not there but a lady that seemed like the boss told me it was prepared just like I ordered it and she was standing behind the order taker. She was very aggressiive but said they'd remake it. I started walking back to the dining room and in a loud voice she was bad mouthing me to the cook. I went back to the counter and told her she could keep her hamburger. With lots of agitated commentary she refunded my order. I hope they clean the place up and you have better service if you go there. read more

How this place is 4+ stars is puzzling. First off... covid19... they removed a few tables. Others still too close. No masks in kitchen. Food server no mask. Even though they had two doors, neither was Marked in or out. Social distancing? Nope!! Common condiments on the tables not changed between customers nor were tables ever wiped down between customers. As to the food... bland chicken sandwich (no seasoning), under cooked (aka barely cooked) fries, both shoestring and regular. I mean seriously, how do you undercook shoestring fries? Made the mistake of ordering their special... Chicago dog. No sport peppers. No pickle wedge (though they added slices), and to boot they added lettuce to it! Really? Cleanliness... no such thing. Tables dirty. Kitchen dirty. Bathroom dirty. No maintenance whatsoever. Who knows the last time the doors were cleaned or the kitchen walls or the dining room walls. We should have walked out but it was almost two and we were starving. Hopefully I've learned my lesson. read more

(yeah I went there) After reading the stellar 5 star reviews I was thinking no way could that burger joint have that good of a burger, but I became a believer today, wow! I picked up a Bacon Blue Burger, a Cheeseburger, and a grilled Cheese for the kiddo. Hands down my Bacon Blue was the winner! But the Cheeseburger would have been amazing had I not ordered that Blue. Grilled Cheese was on par with what you'd usually get, ya know there is not much you can do to a grilled cheese to make it spectacular. Oh and you can pick from a bunch of different fries: regular, seasoned, matchstick, sweet potato, and tater tots (technically I think that's not a fry but whatever). Anyway this joint is the real deal. The menu is just like you'd see and an old burger joint with the plastic letters on the white background plastic coca-cola signs. The dining room is clean and big enough for a lunch crowd but nothing special. But that's not why you go, its the BURGERS THAT DRAW YOU IN! Driving through on the worst forecasted driving conditions I've ever been threatened with... to no avail. Turned out to be a rather dry and warmish day (no icy roads for me!). Passed through Murphy after approaching being hungry for a couple of hours. Whipped in here as soon as I saw it... and glad I did. The crew was very friendly - to me, other customers, and among themselves (plenty of laughter could be heard from the kitchen). I was extremely impressed when I got up to get a refill on my drink; my order was ready and they asked where I was sitting; I reached for it but he gently refused so that he could bring it to my table. :) The Mushroom and Swiss burger was yummy - as were the fries... and the sweet tea was mighty fine, too. Alright, I gave this a shot and I got one of the best burgers which I have ever eaten at this place or ANYWHERE. I asked for a Double-Double Animal Style. Amanda looked at me like WTF? So if any of you know In-N-Out Burger, you know about their secret menu. Well Animal Style burgers and Fries are one of my favorites when I am traveling out west. I showed Amanda a picture and told her the ingredients and a few minutes later I received a wonderful burger! Try it! What have you got to lose? I did warn them that I was going to post this on Yelp. "Order the burger "Animal Style" off of In-N-Out not-so-secret menu, and you bring the party to a whole new level. The onion slice gets replaced with a dollop of a sweet, darkly caramelized chopped onions, an extra stack of pickle chips goes underneath the tomato, and the patties get fried with mustard directly on the griddle." read more

They've since expanded the restaurant to accommodate more seating, which is nice as the old place was a bit cramped. Food is still right on the money. My daughter and I went here for our monthly burger; we agreed, the burger was hands down the best burger we have ever had. We ordered onion rings and waffle fries for our sides and they were excellent. The prices are reasonable, the food is cooked to order and the staff is friendly.
