We were looking for a good full breakfast at a good price in a low-key atmosphere. We were really pleased with the food, and exceptionally happy with the service. This isn't fine dining. It's diner-style comfort food, and within that style restaurant, Waffle King in Murphy delivers! The staff is welcoming and friendly with a very down-home style. We liked it so much, we came back the next day for more. Good value and very good service! I should add that in a time when so many businesses are staffed at a bare minimum, Waffle King was fully staffed, and the team was clearly working to provide their customers with a good experience. Came in on a Sunday afternoon and were seated right away. Our server was really nice and friendly. It can get pretty noisy with the small space. We got our food pretty quickly. We stopped here to have breakfast with my mom before starting our journey home. It was Memorial Day and one of the few places open in town, so it was quite busy. However, the wait was not too long. It's a pretty small space, but the kitchen and servers seemed to be working hard to prioritize speed. We grabbed a booth once available. Our server was very friendly and attentive. She brought out our coffees and waters quickly. I chose the breakfast combo with 3 eggs (scrambled with cheese), hashbrowns, sausage, and biscuits and gravy. My boyfriend chose three eggs, bacon, toast, grits, and hashbrowns. My mom chose the three pancake meal. Food came out quickly and all was accurate. The portions are large. The biscuits and gravy were decent. I added some pepper to the gravy which helped. The hashbrowns were very bland. The eggs were cooked well and the cheese helped add some flavor. The sausage was just okay. It reminded me of standard frozen sausage patties. I tasted my bf's grits, and we also found those to be pretty bland. My mom liked her pancakes. Hubby and I used to go to a Royal Waffle King every year on our way to PCB. Sadly it shut down quite a few years ago and we hadn't been to one. We were quite excited when we knew we were heading to Murphy to leave some of our money at the casino. And let me tell you the food did not disappoint. The eggs were light and fluffy. May 14, 2023. 4 for breakfast - Going to keep this brief. The service was exceptional and the customer base and regulars seemed happy. However, this was not a good experience from my wife's and my perspective. We had around 4 to 5 flies buzzing our table and on the windows behind us through the entire meal. The silverware was not very clean (we swapped out a few sets) The food (an inedible ham - like tanned leather except salty like jerky, the snooty/burnt eggs - some kind of pan/skillet or grille oil or butter or maybe lard gave a strange burnt flavor to the eggs, the 'butter' was almost margarine or some non-dairy item, and etc) were not properly cooked and seem to be very poor quality. We were visiting Harrah's on a Saturday and left around 8:30 in search of food. Good gravy - everything was closed or closing - on a Saturday night! What the heck? Even the fast food! So Waffle King was our only choice basically. However we had a very friendly waitress and tasty food! Must be the Waffle House cousin but dare I say the hash browns were even better? A long place with dinner seat and booths. Booths are not the best, but they serve their function. Food Drink -Coffee, which never came close to being empty. Breakfast - I love that the Royal Breakfast platters come with three eggs, while most places serve only two. Today I went with the No. 2 which is 3 eggs, hash browns, bacon or sausage, grits, and toast. I took the eggs over easy, sausage, white toast. No sour dough. I guess I am too far from the west coast for that. Eggs were done perfectly. Sausage patties were dry, either over cooked or no steam during the cooking process. I love getting grits while in the south. These failed, I have had better ones from the free hotel breakfast buffets. The hash browns are nice and krispy on the outside, and under cooked in the inside. Service - What you need, bonus on the coffee. Future - We went the next day too. Whenever we go into waffle king everyone is friendly and greets us as we come in. We are always spoken to as we come in and have never had a rude employee. The waitresses work hard and we have been pleased with our food every time. The cooks are good at the grill ! I recommend them definitely. read more

This place is typical of a waffle house, or huddle house, it's small in that respect, you see yourself they have a good menu, mainly came here for breakfast. They have the typical eggs, omelettes, however, with a name of waffle king, he would think they have more choices than just one waffle with maybe some fruit, the rest was different breakfast items, I did get the steak one time, it was thin, but it was cooked right and tasted good, the prices are good, and the service was fast, it's a very casual place where a lot of locals stop in, probably on a daily basis as the staff would call them by their name. We still haven't been one for dining inside, so we decided to grab brunch to go and find a bench on the River Walk. Pros: easy to phone in the order. Order was ready when promised. French toast was really good, even to go. The bacon was crispy. Cons: none of the staff was masked up. The scrambled eggs were ok, lacking in taste. The waffle was chewy and not good. There were no utensils in the bag. (Yes, hubby should have checked...our bad on that.). Syrup and fake butter was in the bag. Overall, would not return. read more

Located in an old KFC the Royal Waffle King is a place to go for all day breakfast. The coffee was good. The food was fine... I had the ribeye and eggs breakfast with hash browns. It was fine - the steak a tad undercooked for med rare, the hash browns unseasoned but fine.... others in our party had the chocolate chip waffle and they were more than satisfied. There were plenty of chocolate chips to satisfy! The bacon was crisp and the sausage decent. The staff were friendly - cleared plates and filled coffee in a timely fashion. It was a tad loud as it was busy and a fly pestered me which accounts for the low score.
