I wish I'd gone to another yelp recommend place that had more negative reviews but was right around the corner. The lasagna while not terrible . It was pretty good for a nuked lasagna with the smallest side salad I've ever had and a minuscule amount of garlic bread. While I was in Chattanooga, I visited all three of this group's restaurants. We had lunch at the Mason bar. Of the three places, this one was a bit disappointing. The space is nice and bright, but the ratio of cured meat to cheese (some kind of cheeseboard appetizer) was not balanced. My whipped feta came with razor-sharp grilled sourdough. It was a bit later in the afternoon, so the standards had perhaps slipped a bit. A server was sweeping the floor near us, I don't know if I got any dust on my food from it. There wasn't any music while we were there, but it seems like a great setup for it. Our server was friendly and checked in on us a few times, which we appreciated. As for food and drinks, I ordered a Pineapple Paloma -- definitely a unique twist on the classic! I actually liked the unexpected smoky tropical flavor, though my husband took one sip and said "Ew, no!" (LOL). We split two sandwiches: the Pesto Grilled Cheese and the Italian Ciabatta. Great local place to grab some grub! There's parking out front along the Main Street area. It's a cute little square with eats and stores. This restaurant is tucked inside of a building where there's a retail store and an ice cream store connected. There's a dining room and bar. They do have a rather large stage area where live music is (check their socials for schedule). You can tell immediately that this is a local place where people gather. The menu offers a variety of choices. We started with a beer on tap and a spicy margarita that was tasty. We ordered the pulled pork and slaw tacos that come with a side (got potato salad), and a Garlicky Joe (sloppy Joe served on two pieces of garlic bread) that came with kettle chips. And yes, just as much as you were intrigued reading that your tastebuds would be equally pleased! It was delicious. Such a great combination. Was ready to order another side of this kettle chips too. We wandered in to the Mason Bar as we headed into Murphy to shop. We were greeted as we entered, and served fairly quickly with drinks. Our server was efficient, and seemed to be knowledgeable of sensitivities. When the food came, we were shocked to see how tiny the servings are. We literally laughed. My little steak tacos were tucked into small romaine leaves. Check the picture to see the size comparison of the tacos (which should appear larger, since they are in the front of the picture) to the chips behind them on the plate. Unfortunately, the beef was very chewy, though the flavor was good. I also ordered a side of potato salad. This was tasty, and actually a decent size for a side. Hubby ordered a Caesar Salad, which looked like a small side, NOT an entree. (See the pic.) The granddaughter ordered a sandwich. The chips on her plate looked as big as the sandwich! The Mason Bar is located in the heart of the downtown Murphy area. Our server was friendly and the food was great. I enjoyed a local brew. Well, I enjoyed a few Carolina Blondes. Our pesto grilled cheese sandwiches were made just right. The bread they use might be a ciabatta and it's not greasy like some can get with too much butter. I liked the added tomato slices, but my step-daughter had hers without. There's ice-cream available by the front entrance and they have a live music schedule and daily specials posted. We were there for lunch, but you could come with some friends for dinner or have some drinks while playing pool and darts. We'll be back as soon as we can get back up to Murphy! read more

The food is delightful, and I find myself returning frequently, largely due to the excellent service. The staff is exceptionally friendly and attentive, and they have a knack for remembering names. It has certainly become a downtown Murphy favorite. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't visited. They often have entertainment, including pool, table darts, and other small games, with ample seating available. Upon entering, you are immediately greeted by the staff. The place was decked out in beautiful lights, definitely embodied the holiday spirit! We arrived before my mom so we ordered a beer for her and ourselves. They had some good draft options as well as bottled options. They also have cocktails and very yummy shots. I ordered an almond joy shot; it tasted as good as it looked! My boyfriend and I shared a pesto grilled cheese sandwich which was delicious. Their menu includes mason jar salads which sounded really good, along with appetizers and other sandwiches. The people working were also super friendly. I really didn't expect much from Murphy, NC when I first toured the place I would be working at out here two weeks ago. It was out of town. But man, this little town is cute once you drive into it. And this place is a perfect representation of this town. I ended up here by accident; the place I intended to go to was closed. I'm so glad it was! We arrive at The Mason Bar to have dinner after reviewing a recommendation on Yelp, boy did we make a huge mistake. First, when we entered the building that Mason's is location we notice an ice cream shop across the hall was own and The Mason Bar, everything else was closed, no biggie. The sign read Wait to be Seated and we waited, and waited and even waited some more time. Finally I walked to the bar to fine it unmanned. There was four or five people standing around a table. We continued to wait for a staff member but after 20 plus minutes we decided to find somewhere else to dine, Mason's obviously did not need our business. I suggest trying one of the other places in Murphy, NC next time you need something timely. Mason's is not the place to dine. read more

This consisted of not only the obvious - biscuits with gravy - but perhaps 10 other bread (I can recall Strawberry and Banana breads, 2-3 types of bagels, caramel, and crescents. Just can't recall them all). There was an equal assortment of jams/jellies/cream cheeses, etc. Coffee/tea came with the entree ($!0, all you can eat, or $15 with a drink such as a Mimosa). Quite good, and the service matched it. We were told they'd be switching up their menu to a more traditional breakfast fare, so your mileage may vary. Very disappointed. Drove into Murphy just to go to the Mason Jar. Monday June 5th at 1:00 pm. Two of us walked in and sat at the bar. No bartender in sight. A male server walked by us and went to the register and didn't even acknowledge us. Another gentleman was sitting at the bar also. After 5-8 minutes we walked out.
