Visited a few weeks back. Grateful they are open on sundays but their service sucked. We waited forever for service. Like 15 minutes before someone came to greet our table. Then once we finally ordered our coffee, it took 15 minutes and another 5 after that for water. My coffee was dropped off without sweetener, which ordinarily would've been just fine, but my coffee was so bitter. My husband had to go inside to flag somebody down for sweetener. Food arrived and it had plastic on the salad. Which is no big deal but they barely apogized and seemed to careless. Overall, the whole experience just left something to be desired. We came back to The Crown to celebrate my 65th birthday and the experience was extraordinary! Tiffany was delightful as our server. Thursday night is when the locals come to play blue grass music so we wanted to be seated at the pavilion so we could enjoy the music. It was a perfect night to sit outside and listen to so much talent. And the food! They have a new Autumn menu and we all tried something different. I got the stuffed trout which was amazing, my husband ordered the pork chop which he devoured. The other two dishes ordered were the Masala and the chicken. We were all members of the clean plate club. We ordered the chocolate dessert and it was so good we ordered another! Out hostess and wait staff were delightful, amazing ambiance that is unmatched and the food stellar. This is my new favorite place. I cannot give it enough accolades read more

We (my husband and I and our son and his wife) loved everything! Driving up to this restaurant is a treat in itself. We were warmly received. We had called ahead about special dietary needs for one of our group, and they were fully prepared for us. We enjoyed everything we had, from our delicious cocktails, to the gumbo soup appetizer, to our fabulous main courses, ending with desserts we loved. Did I mention our wonderful after dinner drinks? Everything was wonderful about our visit to The Crown, a hidden hideaway in Brasstown (part of Murphy, NC) Service people were friendly and knowledgeable, making great suggestions when asked. Ambiance is mesmerizing, great views, open fields, majestic mountains. Food was uniquely prepared and delicious. An unexpected added treat was an impromptu jam session of old timey blue grass with musicians of all ages joining in. I only wish we lived closer so we could visit more often. read more

We were excited to try The Crown. We made a reservation, and were seated upon arrival. Then, The. Waiting. Began. We ordered two cocktails (one for each of us). We perused the menu after ordering, and then sat there. And sat there. And....sat there. Only one of the other booths was taken, so we were wondering as to why the delay. We managed to get our Server's attention as she was quickly trying to pass by our table. She commented "We only have one bartender". Okay....? We placed our appetizer and dinner orders. And we continued to....WAIT. The Server came over and told us "Sorry, but we only have one bartender". Okay.....weird. Approximately 30 minutes after ordering our cocktails, they finally arrived. When the server delivered them she informed us "We only have one bartender". We were not sure why she kept repeating this to us - did she forget that she had told us this already TWICE before? Then we waited for our starters and dinner. Same experience - the "WAIT". My Ravioli Fritti arrived, and it was DELECTABLE! Mushroom heaven! Our server advised us that if we wanted another cocktail we should order it right then, as "we only have one bartender". Sigh. We did order second cocktails as the first ones were very good. But then we....waited. I got up out of sheer boredom to check How busy the restaurant must be. Not. Two couples outside on the back patio. And by this time the other couple that had been in the "booth" section had finished and left. I came across a group of servers (perhaps five?) who were standing in another room and chatting. Well, if the drinks, appetizers and entrees weren't ready, what were they supposed to do, right? Entrees finally arrived. By this time I was full from the appetizer, so I asked for mine to be boxed. The server apologized that our drinks were still not ready. She added "we only have one bartender". Husband had the chicken with the square potato. He said it was good, "but nothing special...chicken and a square piece of potato". By this time we were REALLY frustrated with the long time we spent just waiting. I checked my watch - we had been there TWO hours. Ugh. Husband finished his entree, and we quickly asked for the bill as we had no idea how long THAT would take. Server said she would get it and return. She came back with our second cocktails. She apologized for the delay and commented "we only have one bartender". Okay, this was now ridiculous. The restaurant was fairly empty, and there were plenty of servers. If they "only have one bartender" and he/she is this backlogged, they should hire a SECOND bartender. HOW do they manage when they are BUSY? We heard a lot of speed racing outside, and thought it was teenagers bored on a weekend. Our server came over with our bill, and she told us "No, that is a local racetrack". Wow, that racetrack was super loud. We paid the bill and the server said "Sorry for all the delays, but we only have one bartender". Seriously? It was as if she was a recording...."enough already!". Our appetizer and entrees were also super delayed, and that was never explained. We just wanted to get out at this point. A very sad experience as while we did like the cocktails and ravioli, however we did NOT appreciate the insane WAITS...for everything! The racetrack became busier, and even MORE loud, so we left. On our way out we noticed (again) that the restaurant was NOT busy. The group of servers were again standing in a circle chatting with each other. Frustrating night as the food was GOOD, the cocktails were GOOD, but we were now at 2 1/2 hours since we had been seated, and we wanted "outta there". We left, and the sounds of the racetrack were REALLY loud. Some people were eating outside in front of the restaurant - we don't know how they could hear each other with the loud roaring sounds of racing cars! We both agreed that we won't be returning. Sad, as the mushroom appetizer and my husband's entree were good, but WHY were we subjected to SUCH long waits?! That was so weird, and frustrating. And that racetrack ruins the lovely peace of the location where the restaurant is located. read more

We've been here several times. The food and service is phenomenal. We went again last night and was very shocked when we received the bill. We ordered some mixed drinks that were $12 each and they had an xtra charge for cherries on the bill! $1.75 for cherries in the drink! We ask the server and he said that's how he's supposed to ring it in. He also said there's a charge for an olive in your drink as well. You might want to take your own cherries and olives if you want to enjoy a mixed drink at the Crown. read more

The Crown is not what I expected for this area, but finding this little gem just reaffirmed that there us a market for good food served by a friendly staff. A beautiful idyllic farm to table restaurant in Brasstown. We had a real hard time finding a restaurant with good vegetarian options around Hayesville. But this place checked all boxes- vegetarian options, gluten free, delicious fresh vegetables and such a warm and loving vibe. Our hostess and server was super helpful and friendly. She gave us a brief history of the place and helped us through the menu. We ordered Butternut Bisque, Gnocchi, and Autumnal Vegetables, Crispy Brussels, Chocolate Mousse and Coffee. Everything was super yummy! The brussel sprouts had a little extra salt in some parts. The ambience and live music just added an extra charm to the delicious, warm, and soulful food. We are visiting this place again for sure! Recommend for family, solo or date nights. read more

One word: WOW! We were invited by another couple, but first I wanted to check out the menu online. After trying to analyze it, I was confused at what quite a few choices actually were. This made me skeptical, that is until when we arrived. The ambiance was very quaint with a great view. The service was excellent with the server able to answer every question about the menu. The food was excellent. All 5 of us ordered something different and all of us were impressed. I highly recommend this establishment. Went to dinner there tonight- what a shit show. The bartender was great but we didn't stay there long as someone came and told us that we had to sit at our table as there was a large influx of reservations coming soon and they wanted us to move along. Two additional guests of ours were running late one of whom it was their birthday. We told our waitress this fact and requested a specific dessert with a candle. After a few minutes someone requested we order appetizers before the other party arrived. Within 5 minutes the other 2 arrived and shortly thereafter they wanted our selections. The meal was good but we were rushed the entire time. Needless to say no large party of people ever arrived - the restaurant inside was virtually empty (Saturday night) and the waitress had to be reminded in front of the birthday guest to bring the dessert originally requested. So if you like to be rushed throughout your meal - the Crown's your place! read more

I've been thinking about "Unity" Soup in Cahoots, which is just a half portion of each soup, gazpacho and chilled zucchini together, in the same bowl. Really beautiful dish and absolutely delicious! The brussell sprouts are done right. Crispy on the outside and tender in the middle. Recommend the fried ravioli. For entrees, the curry was yummy. Full of flavor and served on the perfect plate that holds lots of sauce. But, the chicken, was the best chicken we've ever had. So tender, juicy and flavorful. Get it. You're welcome. Don't skip the cocktails. Everything is made by hand. Beet mule was yummy. Excellent bourbon selection. The grounds are beautiful, with a garden and views. We typically frequent The Crown and I have always raved to everyone I know about how we love it here but this last visit was less than enjoyable. I made a larger reservation for my 30th birthday a month in advance, we showed up 10 minutes prior to our reservation time, missing 3 members of our party (group of 13) and what seemed to be the manager refused to sit us or even let us sit our belongings at our table until everyone was there. One of our party members being 39 weeks pregnant. We went to the bar to wait to be seated and the new male bartender was rude to us from the time we walked in the door. We enjoyed several appetizers and attempted to enjoy a couple rounds of drinks but we would order and they would never show up. I kindly confronted the male bartender about this and he continued to make comments about me not needing any more drinks. I had had 1 drink at this point, was celebrating my birthday and had a designated driver. He continued to be rude to our entire party throughout the night (just a bunch of moms trying to enjoy an evening together) and then completely cut us off at 9pm on a Friday evening without any warning of last call. I confronted him, again with a calm demeanor, about this and he was very rude in his response that he would not be serving us all while there were employees drinking at the bar. While i understand places close early around here, I know I have been served later than 9pm on a Friday and have always been at least warned of a last call. I'm super bummed because as a local we love this spot and my husband's employer even reserves this spot out for parties a couple times a year. i had the gnocchi and it was awful, appetizers were good but wow the service was horrible (mainly manager and male bartender) and I have never felt so completely unwelcome at a restaurant before. read more

They are also stewards of the community and the earth, since their food is purchased from small, local farms and their solar pavilion offsets other energy sources while providing shade. They have a full bar with gorgeous, creative cocktails as well. TheIr offerings range from paleo to vegan and everything is gluten free. If you're used to plates piled high with Sysco food, sweet tea and loads of ketchup, you probably won't like this place. My wife and I eat at this establishment a couple of times a month. Food is typically solid, drinks (craft cocktails) are great, as is the view and fire pit (weather permitting). The menu changes often to stay with their "farm to table" theme. There's always a chicken option, usually a pork option, and always a beef choice to be made. In addition they have some vegetarian options that I cannot comment on. Only downside is their "gluten-free" commitment. This hampers their ability to take things to another level as only gluten can. I'm sure that will be a controversial statement, but I'm not allergic to gluten, and many good things are made with it. read more

The oven apparently broke while we were there, so had to pivot from the item I specifically went there for. The service was good, the food was good. Not 5 star good, but definitely worth stopping in. What a gem!! Someone had recommend this place to us for their brunch. We looked it up and were intrigued with their dinner options, so went there on a Wednesday. Definitely make reservations, because they are a popular spot. As soon as we pull in, we were impressed with how beautiful the scenery is. We sat on their covered patio and could see mountains and valleys around us. Pretty field flowers on every table. We started with their burrata salad and then my husband had lentil curry and I had their forest pilaf. Very impressed by their ability to make several dishes vegan. To our delight, it was Wine Wednesday and all bottles of wine were half off!! We had a couple of their house cocktails, a glass of wine each and took the rest home to enjoy later. Great service too! From the hostess to our server, to food runners, all were very friendly and welcoming. On the way back we stopped by a fenced in area to say hi to their goats and chickens. Food was absolutely incredible. Amanda was our server, and consistently checked on us to make sure we enjoyed everything. We both got Chef Derek's pasta, and it was phenomenal. Our bartender Jake made me an absolutely amazing drink when I wasn't sure what I wanted. Definitely our new date night spot. Met the owner, Donna, on our way out, and she was the absolute sweetest. I don't even know what to do for stars this time. My kid and I went Sunday and had a great experience. The hostess was really friendly, our server was on point and the food was amazing. The focaccia bread in the charcuterie was soft and flavorful. I was able to eat waffles that were worth eating for the first time in a year. It was really exciting to go out and just be able to order from the menu without worry. We were so happy about it that we brought my son-in-law, who is a chef, a few days later. Granted, we're camping in the local area so we were dressed pretty casually. Maybe that was the issue. The vibe was different. The hostess from Sunday was still her friendly self but there was another hostess that seemed bothered by us being there There was live music. It was one man that was phenomenal. It's worth going just to see him. I'm not sure how their music schedule works. Seating was OK. We were told 10 minutes and it took 35. That wasn't a huge deal, we didn't have reservations. Our waitress may have been having an off night. She seemed annoyed at doing a military discount and applied it to only my meal and desert, not my (non-alcoholic) drink or shared appetizers. I appreciate the discount at any time and this isn't really a complaint. I've just never seen a restaurant apply a military discount to only a few items on a shared check. It's an unusual practice. Once again though, I appreciate that it's given at all. I realize that it doesn't have to be. The food was all at least good. This restaurant's specialty is definitely things that would normally contain gluten. The charcuterie had less than on Sunday but at the same price so that was a bit odd. It was still worth it for the bread alone. The ravioli fritti comes with two sauces and it was fantastic. I would order this again. I got the special, which was a duck pasta. I loved it. My kid got the duck. It was ok but tough and a little dry. My son-in-law got the porch chop and it was also ok. There were three deserts and three of us so we got one of each. I thought they were all great. The cheesecake was the least liked of the three but only because it doesn't have the wow factor of the other two. If you're gluten-free, I would recommend the cheesecake or tiramisu just because they're harder to get other places. Overall, this place doesn't taste gluten free and people that have to avoid gluten can do it without worry. The atmosphere seems a bit hit or miss. I would come back on a Sunday. I like that menu better and it seems a little more laid back. You'd probably do best with a reservation also. read more
