My partner and I popped in for lunch having been given a recommendation by a local but alas the food was unmemorable. My partner ordered the buffet and I ordered the special which was fish & chips. When my food arrived, it honestly looked delicious but my first bite was undercooked fish & batter. The batter was crispy on the outside but the inside was gloppy. It was disappointing to say the least. Now, I will say our young waitress said they were understaffed which could account for the fish being inedible. I will say another waitress was very kind and removed the item off my bill and was very gracious about it. My partner's food seemed to be quite good but the soups were extremely salty and the chilli was cumin heavy . So in all honesty, would I go back & give them another chance? Probably not . Burger was decent. I would give this restaurant another try. Their hot bar buffet was okay. Nothing very outstanding and most everything could use seasoning. Service was the best part of the meal. Seemed to be all women servers that were pleasant. read more

Extremely Disappointing!!! NOT the same good food as the original owners! Take out was all wrong! Chicken fingers were as thin as a pencil, just all breading. Burger very thin, small and overcooked. The catfish was terrible and the customer service was worse. The catfish was soggy with grease. I filled a napkin with grease trying to blot it. I had 2 bites and my husband tried one bite. I could not eat it. When I asked to get something else I was told I had eaten over half (three small bites!) and they would charge me for it anyway. So I ate the coleslaw and my husband ate his mediocre smothered chicken. We will not be back and advise others to stay away. read more

Food is excellent especially if you're in the mood for down home food. I absolutely love the wraps and cheeseburgers- omg, bring the cholesterol meds on that cheeseburger, BUT it's worth it. Ladies who work there are more than kind and helpful. Be aware you have to get your own drinks which I think is quaint and friendly- ambiance is always friendly and old fashioned. Must fess up to eating some of the best homemade cobbler there I've ever had. If I ate there much, they'd have to have to get the Jaws of Life to get me in and out! But is GREAT. read more

What in the world is wrong with their burger patty? I don't know. This was the worst burger I've ever tried, I couldn't eat it. It must be mixed with filler like wheat or oat, I don't know, but it is not just beef, and seems like it was a frozen patty. So disappointing, truly the worst burger meat ive ever tried. Good fries although they give you a total of 10 of them. Good enough chicken tenders. Don't order the burger here, you will regret it if you are expecting to eat a normal delicious beef patty. read more

Good and very inexpensive just what is needed here in Murphy , when in town we stop for lunch

We sold an item online and they wanted to meet us in the Comfort Grub parking lot. We were early and they were running late so decided to have lunch there. When you enter the restaurant you walk through a small shopping area like Cracker Barrel but way smaller. Past the shopping they have a small picture framed board with their specials. We then noticed that you order at a counter. They have their menu on a huge chalk board behind the counter. Didn't see a printed menu. After looking it over we decided on their Patty Melt and a Jalapeño Jack burger. We both had fries with them. You are given a styrofoam cup for your drinks (self serve) and they give you a number for the table. Looking around at their tables and booths most are for 6 people. Even their high tops seat 6. While we sat waiting we noticed that almost everyone had ordered the burgers so we made the right choice. We also noticed that the meals are served on paper plates. Not a fan of paper plates. When our burgers arrived all I can say is wow. The patties on the burgers are huge. We enjoyed them. Burgers were cooked med/well. Still real juicy. The patty melt was on grilled sourdough instead of rye but it was as still good. The two ladies working the floor did several jobs. They ran the counter taking orders , cleaned tables and ran food. They were extremely pleasant and checked on everyone. One asked if we were interested in dessert. I didn't even notice that they had desserts. I was too full anyways. When leaving we overheard 2 guys entering saying that they haven't been here in a year and keep forgetting about the restaurant. We also did notice on the door that they serve breakfast but don't know what they serve since we didn't see a menu. I do recommend giving Comfort Grub a try. BTW it does look like they have a room off to the side for a party or meeting. read more

Everything was great the food is really good! Five Stars all the way! We had the fiesta beef and chicken quesadillas lip smacking good! The food is homemade not trucked in - in other words not Sysco! Okay I admit, I was skeptical since "Comfort Grub" isn't the most appealing name. I was expecting a family style restaurant with bland food, fried everything, and veggies over cooked to mush. Turns out that it fits nicely in the "fast casual" category. The inside isn't fancy but it's clean and perfectly presentable. The menu offered a good variety and everything looked good. I ordered the chicken wrap and it was on par with a TGI Fridays type restaurant. The prices are also extremely reasonable. I will definitely be coming back with the family. read more

We've passed this place at least once a week for over 3 years on our way to pizza & beer in Murphy & every time we'd say we have to try it. Our pizza & beer place was closed when we got there, so today became the day to try Comfort Grub. First, you order from a central desk then they bring the grub out to you. I'm not going to dwell on the food - it was marginal, but edible. It appears most of the clientele are elderly which means bland food & it was very bland. I had a great experience at Comfort Grub. All of the staff were very friendly, and the restaurant was very clean. Here, you order at the front counter and they bring your food to your table. I had the Boneless BBQ Wings, which came with fries and a side salad. Everything was amazing, and came out super quickly. While visiting family in Murphy, we decided to give this place a try....and we're glad we did. The staff was incredibly friendly & very attentive. You order, receive a # & your food is delivered to your table. The items ordered by my group were: 1. Alamo Bowl 2. Fried pork chops (daily special) 3. Patty Melt 4. BLT burger 5. Red beans & rice 6. Crab stuffed mushrooms (daily special) 7. For dessert: blackberry cobbler & strawberry cobbler Overall, everyone enjoyed their food. Good portions, good prices. Talk about amazing comfort food! Wowzers this family restaurant left an impression on me. Looking from the street towards it you think blah it's just food and possible crappy food- ha! None sense it was out of this world amazing! You walk in they allow you to sit yourself and give you a menu with no rush. You then go up to the register place your food and they serve you within a few minutes! It's your Ma' & Pa' spot! Food is amazingly well cooked and flavored you have your classics of country friend chicken and homemade gravy to a steak and potato. This restaurant is spacious, clean, the staff is attentive to your needs and friendly. They also have a small souvenir shop where you can get cute small items, they don't carry bulky items in the shop. If you stop here to eat I recommend the shrimp platter. The shrimp is large and the portion you receive is enough to fill you up. Great location right before downtown Murphy! read more

Great simple and quick dinner! I had the smothered chicken. Which was a base of mashed potatoes, grilled chicken, mushrooms and onions then covered in cheese. It was served with a very nice dinner salad. My boyfriend had a warp with sweet potatoe fries! The dinner was excellent. This family owned comfort-food shrine is staffed by the most wonderful people you can imagine. It is a "happy place" where everyone wants you to enjoy the experience. We have a cabin in Murphy, and Comfort Grub is the closest to us. We are so glad that it is! We have eaten here several times. The food is always good, no matter what we order. The large open space is a little rustic and spartan, so to speak. But we realize this is a country kitchen, not a bistro in Buckhead (we live near Atlanta). Their burgers are awesome, as well as their country fried steak, "comfort bowls", even the salads are good. Low carb-ing it? Try the burger salad. My teen daughter loves the chicken tenders. We're always pleased here. Try their homemade cobblers too; they rival granny's any day! My breakdown: 4 stars - atmosphere 5 stars - wait staff 5 stars - location 5 stars - food quality 5 stars - food flavor Summary: A great place for a quick meal. A little expensive. I try ink they now server beer. The queuing setup sucks, so there's a constant cut in the line, from people passing through it. That is annoying. The food comes quickly enough. Soft drink refills are self serve. The burger is really good. I highly recommend it. Not skimpy by any means. Due to staffing shortages, they're only open a few nights per week. First off, it's nice to have an eatery at the west end of Murphy, 6 miles from home is great. The food is pretty good although I'd rate it a bit higher priced than average. The burger with the smoked gouda was really yummy. The reuben was unique but my husband enjoyed it. I had tried a sandwich advertised with cranberry mayo, which I couldn't taste.
