Chicken salad sandwich

First off, this was like stepping into a southern book or movie scene. Everyone knew each other, a couple of kids were running around, everyone was very friendly. Chicken salad was a little on the salty side, fried pickles with ranch was delicious. Food tasted like it was made with love. We have been 2500 miles on a road trip and this was some of the best food so far. If you like sweet corn, try the farmhouse corn. Chicken and dumplings were tasty and heavy on the shredded chicken. Meatloaf was good, but had the consistency of chili, which we weren't used to. We would definitely stop here again.

Great looking old authentic rustic building and interior. Very vintage old country. Old vintage signs, Coca-Cola type old signs and country wisdoms sayings. Wide wooden plank flooring is very country farm house. The food is very good solid country ....We ate the country fried steak w gravy, green beans and Mac and cheese The menu is broad and varied with a lot of options. I'd like to try the burgers next time.

It was four minutes from our hotel and a block off the main drag. We loved the outside AND the inside. Five stars. Our waitress was a sweetheart and very helpful. When I asked about the coleslaw, she brought me a taste. It was good, but not the creamy kind I really like. So I ordered the Senior Special - one meat ( chicken casserole) and 2 sides (peaches and corn nuggets) with cornbread. Husband got the popcorn shrimp and crinkle fries. Five stars for service and varied menu - especially the inexpensive senior specials! When the food came, we could feel the heat coming off of it. Everything was so good! I loved the chicken casserole- like the inside of a pot pie with crackers instead of a crust mixed in. The corn nuggets were perfect, and corn bread tasted like it was made from scratch. Peaches were good. Husband had no complaints about his food, and ate it all. Five stars for the food. There was so much to see, all around us. The decor was eclectic- vintage Coca-Cola memorabilia, cows, old signs, horses, chickens, and lots of signs to welcome and show love. Five stars for decor. In a review, someone mentioned dessert. They regretted not taking it to go or eating it after dinner. We don't like regrets, so we ordered the carrot cake AND the peanut butter pie. They were equally delicious. Dessert gets five stars. This place has it all - including my vote for 5 *****! P. S. ASK for the Senior Special. It says it in the menu. I pointed - I didn't ask. But it was worth $7.75 (Senior Special is $6), so I can't complain!

Service was good, food was good. Total came out to 38$. Only thing I didn't like that much was the popcorn shrimp breading.

So really not knowing what to expect being neither had been here before we all four were pleasantly surprised with how great the food was and priced. The restaurant was very clean and nice. The menu had a little bit for anyone's taste it appeared to me. Again there was four of us in our party and we each ordered something different and we all again were happy with all our choices. I had the chop steak with onions and mushrooms and it was excellent. Friend had the steak and grilled shrimp and he loved it and he is very picky. His wife had the tilapia and she said it was very good but was just a tad too salty for her taste. My wife had the club and she thought it was great. We also ordered the loaded fries and they were good as well. Great price and good portions and great food. Highly recommend!

The shift manager was sitting out in the dining area chatting with a customer in a chair. When I told them I just wanted to pay for the drinks and the little side salad my gf had and get out of there they just rang it up for 11 bucks. No I'm sorry no what can we do nothing. The manager who heard the whole thing never even got up from his chair. No one seemed to care they lost business or did a bad job. Just went back to their faces in their phones. I dont know if I'll ever be back. This place used to be decent. It's definitely not now. Worst service ever. And to charge me for that after a wait that long is insane.

There aren't a lot of things that I love better than a local unique bar & restaurant with huge…read morespace, swanky decor, and a few nice surprises. Folks come in very casual attire, some arrive in fully formal clothes, and everything in between. It's a really comfortable vibe and that's something that I appreciate. Maybe you do, too? The owners are a couple and chances are they'll be the ones waiting on you, preparing your food, and treating you love a neighbor who came out to have a good time. Locals who I know LOVE it here. The food is always great, and if the have homemade egg rolls, try them. They're amazing! Also, one of the best burgers I've ever had, and among the ways that we're spoiled in Athens, we have several places with GREAT burgers. Seriously. I mean, don't come to Athens just to eat at a chain. Come on downtown and try places like this and nibble around the edges of town for a few other treats. The name is appropriate. It's THE OPEN DOOR in "the friendly city" in a small, pretty, southern town fercryinoutloud. So I expected that and T.O.D. delivered. Well, I ate-in several times and I don't even know if they Door Dash. It's just an expression, OK? This is not the review to take literally. It's still honest. I've had steak, chicken, prime rib, burgers, the aforementioned egg rolls, and a catfish dinner and it was delicious EVERY time. Every damn time. Folks enjoy the drinks here and this place has huge extra rooms that they open when it's warranted. They don't always have enough staff to be like a chain restaurant/bar and they employ some intermittent staff for busy events, so I don't come expecting a hostess type greeting, white linen, and tables set and ready. They're usually hustling to keep up, take care of their guests who are, from my observation(s), usually friends and neighbors and regulars, and a few folks who are just visiting sprinkled-in for good measure. Yet, it's not so local that the player piano stops and everyone stares when you swing through the saloon doors. Well, through the pretty front door and IF it had saloon doors. It's friendly and welcoming without people being all up in your business. If you're feeling like you're in a hurry, take a deep breath and relax and maybe sit at the bar.

Absolutely the best food in Athens. Best hamburger you can find and incredible service.read more

Just a short 100-yard walk from the station, amazing fish and chips, crispy onion rings, and a beautiful river view with the sound of nature all around. When the special of the night is "Alfredo... with chicken, pork, or steak, take your pick!" and it's also already on the menu... this is a red flag. I quickly started scanning the menu for something that might not give me food poisoning. When the food is stored in outside freezers and there's a horde of live cats running around everywhere... it's a red flag. I love good bar food, but this was not good. My wife's Philly Cheesesteak tasted like propane gas. My chili dog was on par with something you might get at a junior high football game. Even my kids rejected their chicken tenders, which is saying something. Just 100% industrial, frozen, crap. The $13 margarita was even bad. It tasted like bad sour mix and may have had a drop or two of tequila in it. Giving one star for the server, who tried her best. And the location on the river was very nice. Service was slow too though. This was the worst $85 "dinner" I've had in a very, very long time. For the love of god, reduce the size of your menu and do a few things really well. No one wants a bunch of frozen entrees at a bar.
