Upon arriving we were greeted with warm smiles and sat promptly! Our waitress (I wish I remember her name) was hands down the best part of our evening. She had a genuine smile and was so polite and helpful! The inside of the restaurant reminded me of Cracker Barrel in the best way!! It had such a cute rustic farm charm! When it came to the menu I was torn between so many things!! They have a great variety of foods. I was pleasantly impressed with how well everything was plated and just how delicious it was!!! Not to mention the prices were very affordable, borderline too good to be true. The portion sizes of the food were perfect too!! The service was great, our waitress was awesome. The ambiance was excellent, just love the rustic country charm. The food I had an issue with. My waffle had flakes of burnt stuff throughout it. I could figure out why I got crunchy bad tasting things in my food. I turned it over, and found that side was covered in it. I notified my waitress and they removed my meal from the ticket. We were in town to explore the area state parks and decided to visit when we got done at Fall Creek Falls. It was a Friday night, so we knew it would be busy, but we sat outside and chatted with some of the locals to pass the time. Once we got our table, our waitress was wonderful and very attentive. My husband and I both got the ribeyes, which came with a side salad, and two sides, all for $30 a piece. The steak was like cutting into butter and SO GOOD. I had fried okra for my side and he had broccoli, and everything was excellent. They had a whole slew of desserts but we were so full, we decided to wait for another time. The most perfect lunch! So worth the drive! When you want a place that delivers consistent, tasty food that won't leave you disappointed but actually has you talking about how good it was for the rest of the day, you know they're doing it right. Our server was awesome... blonde, braids... forget her name. Everything she did, from sharing specials, her friendliness, and the right amount of attentiveness, made our visit even more enjoyable. Our two lunch meals were Roast Turkey sandwich, chock full of turkey. Added a side of thousand island to compliment the garlic Mayo, bacon and avocado. It WAS THE PERFECT SANDWICH! Partner had Chicken Bacon Ranch Sub. Again, a great sandwich. All the ingredients were fresh and just the right amount of seasoning. Just simply tasty! The star of the meal was definitely the homemade onion rings. They are a 10 on a five star rating. Do not not get these!!! Prices are fair. New location is great. Very clean, including the restrooms. Building had lots more seating. It's in a complex of farmhouse style new shops, a farmers market, an area for kids to see goats... overall 100% worth the stop. After staying a couple of weeks in Pikeville, we finally stopped by the Butter Dish for a late lunch early dinner. Our server, Grace, could not have been a better server. She was personable, and fun. She had a lot of recommendations which suggests she likes where she works. We had the loaded tots (tator tots covered in queso and bacon bits) and a bacon cheese burger. Both were very tasty. We saw a salad be delivered and it looked like a very large portion. If you are in Pikeville or passing through- I would recommend The Butter Dish. It's one of the newest establishments in the town (actually off Hwy 127) and decorated so cute. read more

Plan to stop at The Butter Dish! The dining room is small but there is room on the front porch. It's not fancy but the food, friendly service, and price can't be beat! We visited twice in 5 days. The open faced roast beef is a large serving, fresh and tasty. The Cobb salad is massive with fresh greens and a generous serving of chicken. Breakfast is huge! Home made homestyle potatoes and onions seasoned right. Thick slices of toast and big bright fresh country eggs and no skimp on the bacon. I ordered the Eggs Benedict and was not disappointed! Large English muffins, a generous, serving of hollandaise sauce, two slices of ham, and even a surprise of some bacon with those bright, yellow yoked eggs cooked to perfection. We were greeted by the sweetest staff-who were excited to have Butterdish virgins! We were greeted again by Melissa who was our amazing server! She was patient, eager to tell us about everything on the menu and just as sweet as you would expect a southern gal to be! We ordered and waited with bated breath for the food to arrive. WOWZER!!! The portions were more than fair, the food was fresh, hot and delicious! No canned green beans here. No frozen fried okra either! Everything exceed expectation, especially for the price! Coming from Atlanta-I was shocked at the affordability for the quality we received. I'm not gonna lie, I am a picky brat when it comes to food-so when I tell you this is good, please trust me. $32 for two hamburgers... you would think they would be pretty good. NOT! Wife and I stopped and ordered a regular hamburger each. I upgraded to add bacon and onion rings. We ordered the burgers medium, but both were well done. Mine was just shy of being so dry I almost could not eat it. Onion rings and chips were good, but for $32 with the $3 drinks we won't be coming back even though we live only a mile away. Shame on you butter dish! read more

Driving down Main St. I happened to run across The Butter Dish, which was not on Yelp! What a great discovery! This locally owned restaurant doesn't have a Cheesecake Factory sized menu but what they do offer, they do well! I opted for the cheeseburger and fries for my lunch and it did not disappoint. The burger came fully dressed with Mayo, the tomato was fresh, ripe and phenomenal! The hand cut fries were cooked and seasoned to perfection. No soggy fries here, crisp on the outside, creamy on the inside. The Big Salad looked great and Elaine looked like she really enjoyed it! There is not much to choose from in Pikeville but you better put this place on the top of your list! read more

This is a meat and three and is okay. My serving wasn't that warm. Mashed potatoes were instant and a let down. Gravy was thick, not hot but tasted okay. My wife had the burger and I think it's the best bet. Home cut chips were good but they should come up with a dip and once again not fresh. Dessert may be the best option. My food wasn't great. I had country fried steak and it was just pre-packaged steak. It had that artificial (not homemade) taste. My husband had the hot roast beef sandwich and it was very good. They were out of the side we chose and told us they had fried squash. We received sauté squash that was sitting in liquid and very soggy. I'd try it again and get something different. We are local in Pikeville and we're so happy when The Butter Dish opened to have another option in town. We go there every couple of weeks and have eaten everything from their seafood specials, steaks and chops, burgers and sandwiches, salads and hot plates, along with most of the sides. We have always enjoyed our meals. Some of our favorites are their onion rings, the meatloaf plate, the huge salads and the open faced turkey sandwiches. Last weekend they had a pork chop special and holy cow, were they good! And just today they had a "smash burger" as a special...the burger with their amazing onion rings were perfect! I also have to mention the desserts. There is always a fantastic selection of homemade desserts. We are usually too full to eat dessert but will take something with us (if you're a carrot cake fan and they happen to have it when you're there, so not miss it!). Thanks Butter Dish! read more

Stopped by after hiking at Fall Creek Falls. We had the patty melt with onion rings and the hot ham and cheese with fresh cut fries. My friend said the melt was fabulous and the onion rings were some of the best we've ever had. My sub and fries were great, but I would have like to seen a bit more ham on it for price. But it's 2023 and expected now I suppose. While the fries were good, I would definitely get onion rings if they're your thing. The other dishes we saw being delivered looked amazing. This is the typical country restaurant with the fares you would expect. The atmosphere is very casual and the tables are much cleaner than I have seen in chain restaurants. The cleanliness extends to the bathrooms, which is very comforting as well. Above all I was impressed by the excellent service that started the very moment we walked in. Chloe, our waitress, was very attentive and friendly, so I felt obligated to tell her as we were leaving. Not bad for small town Pikeville. I didn't get a salad but wish I had they looked amazing. The country fried steak was ok, brown gravy not white made it a little odd. The pinto beans were chili/southwest seasoned making it an odd combo for southern fair but would have been great with rice or a TexMex dish.
