After someone mentioned Dean's, everyone else nodded so this was the unanimous choice. We got two orders of pot roast. Mine was accompanied by collards and his sides were deviled eggs and mash potatoes. Absolutely no complaints. Food was fantastic. I do love Southern food! Since this was also a bakery, I had to try some of the desserts. At first I didn't know what apple fried pie was. Our server said it was just apple pie that is deep fried. I mean, is there anything bad that comes out of deep frying? The server did ask me if I wanted the pie warmed up and I said no. I suggest you say yes if asked. It really would have been much better warm but it certainly wasn't bad a little chilled. I loved the small bits of chopped apples. The pie was filled with so many applies and sprinkled with sugar. This was definitely a winner. Service: Extremely friendly. Tip: Bring cash or else pay the credit card fee. Parking: Plenty in the small shopping center.

We were welcomed into a space that perfectly balances rustic charm with understated elegance .. warm and intimate, yet refined. Our waiter embodied the polished, attentive professionalism one expects to find in Paris or Vienna--knowledgeable, gracious, and ever present without being intrusive. The meal began with rustic Italian bread, crisp crust and a tender, airy center, paired with an exceptional olive oil infused with fresh herbs and garlic, the simplest things elevated to extraordinary. Our calamari appetizer was simply the best we've ever had. The squid was remarkably fresh, tender, with a feather-light, crisp batter and accompanied by a warm marinara that tasted as though it had been simmering all afternoon in an Italian kitchen. For entrée, my wife and I shared a flawlessly prepared filet mignon, a perfect mid-rare and finished with an indulgent Gorgonzola butter cream sauce. The accompanying crisp, frites were incredible dredged through that stunning gorgonzola sauce. Our guest chose the homemade lasagna, a dish that looked as though it had come directly from a Tuscan Nona's kitchen. His opinion carried particular weight--he is an international tour director who had just "eaten his way across Italy on lasagna." He declared this version equal to the best. Dessert was a shared tiramisu, dusted with aromatic espresso. It was light, perfectly balanced .. the finest tiramisu I have ever tasted. Yes, the final bill was on the high end for Monterey, but value is measured by the entire experience. A meal of this caliber would easily command twice the price in Nashville--assuming you could find a restaurant capable of delivering this level of authentic Italian cuisine and impeccable service. Sapori di Napoli has set a new standard for us. It will be the venue for all of our future special occasions

Our order was taken and we watched as a female employee did to go/mobile orders while they have in store customers standing right in front of them. We waited a solid 12 minutes for ours while they made the other orders first of those not even in store. The girl making the orders didn't not even speak or look up at us. Atmosphere feels outdated and vintage; not my cup of tea really.. The offerings are nice: sandwiches, drinks of various type & ice cream. The ice cream was a mid-basic rolled ice cream. Had your toppings and drizzle and that was about it. Nothing elaborate for 2 rolled ice creams at $17(pricey for that honestly). Very hard & could barely get a bite with my spoon. It's okay... 3/5 stars.

Service was fine, nice. The 3 stars is for the inside/ambiance. There was no music or any sounds besides us whispering. Felt like we weren't supposed to be there. But even more than that... there's a yellow sofa in the corner that is really gross. Like, dirty, had an odor... we took our order to go bc of it. It was really off putting. Maybe the music was an off thing but the whole sofa corner, supposed to be inviting and cozy, was gross.

Our waitress KaShonda made what might have been a three star experience easily a four star. Ordering two pizza styles is a challenge and our Margherita NY style originally came out over cooked. (Probably waiting on our other pizza to finish). KaShonda was apologetic and was quick to make the situation right. When a new pizza came out it was fantastic. I would return when back in the area.

I'm understanding, but several other tables that arrived after we ordered entrees were eating before two pizzas could be baked?!? Ridiculous. Will honestly not go out of my way to dine here again. I feel bad for the server (it was her birthday) and her team and management let her down.

The Custard Cabin offers fine quality desserts that should please anyone. Certainly the quality that you receive comes at a cost- there is no getting around it. Food (and dessert especially) products can either be cheap or good- you generally can only pick one. If you are price sensitive, there are other lower quality options available elsewhere. Kids generally don't know the difference and some times don't finish what they are given- so I can understand why parents might be price sensitive. Be forewarned if your offspring are as described. Having said that, if you are an adult with a reasonably refined taste for frozen desserts, you'll understand where that extra money spent at Custard Cabin went. It is true that they generally have 1-2 "flavors of the day" plus the standby vanilla and chocolate, but they have frozen pints and quarts usually in many flavors to go. You may want to consider the frozen pint/quart option if the flavor of the day just doesn't do it for you. Sometimes they run out of vanilla and/or chocolate close to closing time. You may want to call ahead if your heart is set on the old standbys.
