Everything is great about this place! It's a bit off the beaten path, but worth the extra time to get there from I-40. We were greeted by the owner and he told us about the specials and the menu. The restaurant is bright, clean, and open. We were there for an early lunch on a Tuesday, so not crowded. No loud noise (my pet peeve in a restaurant) either. The food was really good. I had chicken salad on a toasted potato roll with a side of creamy Mac and cheese. It was more than I could eat. In fact, I could've done just the Mac and cheese and been full. Tired of chain restaurants, we took a short trip off I-40. Large variety of sandwiches to choose from. Upon the staff recommendation, my husband ordered the May Sandwich served on a delicious potato roll with a salad of tomato, cucumber and red onion. He ate every last bite. I ordered the Rueben with chips. Very good. The corn beef was of good quality. Very clean restaurant and restrooms. The staff recommended sandwiches were excellent. This place was pretty awesome as a quick lunch spot! It is such an unassuming place but extremely popular as a road trip stop. We got to try a sample of the pimento cheese, and yeah, it was good! Wow, what a road side gem! Seriously, if you are in the area you need to try out the Long Road Cafe. Located outside Crossville in the Mayland community, this cafe is amazing. They nailed it in guest service and quality! My Dad and I stopped in for lunch expecting the traditional hot dogs, hamburgers and fries--typical greasy spoon fare. Which to be honest would have been fine. However, we discovered some interesting menu items. We both opted for Bruce's Bomber: roast beef, bacon, smoked Gouda, lettuce, onion and chipotle mayo on a soft potato roll. For our sides, I selected potato salad and Dad chose a fresh tomato and cucumber salad. I am reluctant to admit it but the potato salad rivaled my Grandmother's. It had to be a family recipe. It definitely wasn't the usual crap restaurants serve and call potato salad! Our sandwiches were served hot with a helping of amazing. Those warm soft potato rolls were incredible. Dad said the tomato salad was very good too. Before our food arrived a friendly lady brought us over a sample of pimento cheese to try. As she sat it down, she said, "this is our homemade pimento cheese following Grandpa's original recipe. As we enjoyed our meal, I asked the chef, Bruce about the building. Turns out Bruce is the owner. He joined us for a few minutes and shared some of the community's history and how a no restaurant experience couple ended up owning the Long Road Cafe. Great guy, an Air Force veteran, and interesting too. As we were leaving, Bruce was checking his smoker outside and offered us a meatball. Although stuffed, I could not resist. Once again the taste was heavenly. Great people, great food and no pretentiousness. Who could ask for more! read more

I am happy to have made it back to Long Road Cafe for a third time. My friend and I had a relaxing lunch and chat. We were greeted with a warm hello and smiles when we walked in the door. We were informed of the specials. We chose our table. We waited a short amount of time for our fresh sandwiches and sides and had a nice long sit and chat. Long Road Cafe is surely a gem. Also, only open for lunch which is a bit of a bummer. I went there for my birthday since my sister lives in Crossville. Food and service were top-notch. I had the Reuben sandwich, and it was delicious and well-prepared. Thought it would not be enough food for me, but it really was. Was gonna skip dessert, but got tempted by the key lime pie, and it was, after all, my birthday! Pie was awesome as well. We made an unexpected stop for lunch while crossing the state. We chose the cafe based on their 5 star reviews and it did not disappoint! We received great service, good recommendations, and the food was amazing! I had a Buffalo chicken wrap with house-made Blue Cheese dressing, as well as Potato Salad. The sandwich was excellent with a really nice balance of spice and creaminess from the dressing. It wasn't too hot and it was overdressed. Delicious! The potato salad was mayo based with red potatoes and, I think, fresh dill. My lunch mates had a variety of dishes but all commented on the beautiful bread with their sandwiches. Also, definitely go for the pimento cheese spread - it was extremely yummy. The ambience is unassuming, open and casual. It's extremely clean inside and smelled wonderful. Plenty of parking. The customer service was excellent and it was clear they take a lot of pride in their food. Will definitely stop on my next trip that way! read more

We were staying at Fairfield Glade and decided to drop by on a rainy afternoon, the outside looked like the building was deserted, however after entering the interior was clean and bright. I had the cheesesteak special with Mac n cheese side. We are picky about our cheesesteak meat and this was the real deal - shaved steak meat to perfection. The mac n cheese was so creamy! My husband had the Reuben and said it was very tasty. We sampled the Pimento cheese on crackers and I'm not typically a fan but theirs was very good. I highly recommend this cafe. My friend and I just got back from lunch at Long Road Cafe. We both agreed we'd come back. Everybody was very friendly, staff and customers. They serve beer and lots of soft drinks in bottles and teas. We're sure it used to be a gas station but cleverly remodeled. We understand that on Fridays after 2 they serve flatbread pizza so may have to try that another time. It's a short drive from Crossville near Plateau Road. read more

We were looking for a new place to go to for lunch and found Long Road Cafe on Hwy 70 in Crossville. What a great place with incredible food and personable service! We tried the Special Italian and Let's Go To The Club sandwiches. Both sandwiches were excellent and quite enjoyable. For sides we chose mac n cheese and potato boats. Again both sides were excellent. I think the mac n cheese was the best I've ever tasted. We will definitely go back to Long Road Cafe again. read more

We didn't have high expectations for this restaurant. It's on a stretch of 70 in a "blink and you'll miss it" town called Mayland. The restaurant's facade is rustic and did nothing to reassure us. But we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. I had the "Ruben and Rachel Got Married" sandwich, which was corned beef, turkey, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese, and 1000 Island dressing on wheatberry bread- it was a marriage of a Ruben and a Rachel sandwich and it was delicious. My father got a Italian sub that "did everything right" he said. We have gone back and the second time was also delicious. We love to promote local businesses but will only do so if they are excellent. How happy we are that "The Long Road Cafe" is excellent. read more
