Absolutely outstanding. I've been to Safta many times and it elevated my pandemic dining experiences when I'd order it to-go and eat it in my sweat pants. But oh my, I am so happy to be back dining in with both the airy atmosphere and the incredible food. The mushroom and soft boiled egg hummus are life changing. The harissa chicken is out of this world. The labneh, well in the words of Bart Simpson, "that's some good labneh." The service is always great and accommodating. I've got to say this is a great spot! We ate here on a Sunday night and the place was buzzing. We were seated straight away (we had a reservation) and the service was on point. We started with the Lamb Ragu Hummus, watermelon and feta, baba ganush and the amazing pita (of which we had a few) it was so good, I could have eaten these small dishes all night. We then moved onto Moroccan carrots and Kebab el Barbour. To finish off we had the honey bourbon cake. We couldn't have asked for a better brunch experience! The space is open and airy in the daylight hours, and it's location in the Source is perfect for weekend wandering. Our server recommended we order everything at once so that they can appropriately course everything out for us, and they did this perfectly. Our first course arrived which was the lamb ragu hummus, pickles, beets, and labneh. The richness of the lamb ragu was paired so perfectly with the brightness of the crudités. Our second course arrived shortly after, which were the falafel balls which added the perfect crunch paired with the hummus. We had the perfect amount of time before our final course arrived, the pastrami sandwich. Best. Pastrami. Ever. Thick-cut and the bread was a crispy sesame perfection! Overall, our experience was perfect for a special occasion - at $150 for two, it's definitely a very pricey brunch experience. YUM! I have been searching Denver high and low for the perfect hummus and pit bread and I have officially found it! I got the Tahini Hummus and it was light and creamy and oh so delicious. The pita bread is doughy and fluffy all in one and melts in your mouth and is just perfection. The smell coming from the coal oven is AMAZING, and adds the perfect touch to the pita! We went with a large group and got a bunch of dips to share and each one was better than the last. We were completely blown away. Our groups ranking of the dips were as follows: Muhamarra, Tahini Hummus, Labneh, Whipped Feta and babaganoush. For dinner the meat eaters got the lamb kabobs, the harrisa chicken and the lamb Ragu hummus and said everything was scrumptious. The cheese borekas and fattoush salad were a hit as well. The borekas were described as a desert like baklava with a cheese filling and all loved. The salad was very basic (not that that's a bad thing but just didn't blow us away like everything else did) but it was nice to eat some yummy fresh veggies with everything. But in all honesty, I could have just ordered eaten the dips and pita for dinner and been plenty happy. We will definitely be going back here ASAP. The same chef that opened Shaya in New Orleans opened Safta. I've been to Shaya in New Orleans years ago and it was superb so I expected no difference at this 2nd version in Denver. Many of the dishes are the exact same with little to no variation really. You must make reservation for dinner, no doubt because this place got so packed when we went on a Friday. You are expected to put in your entire order at once and then as things are prepared it is brought to your table to share everything family style. We ordered 3 different hummus- mushroom(15 dollars), cauliflower (14 dollars) and lamb ragu (16 dollars). Hands down just the best hummus I've ever tasted in my life. So smooth, so whipped. The doughy soft pita bread Is made fresh in the open brick oven. The best pita I've also ever had. The mushroom hummus was our favorite and 2nd the crispy curried cauliflower. The lamb ragu hummus had crispy chickpeas and ground lamb. I was expecting it to be lamb meat pieces rather than being ground lamb based on some yelp pics and also because at Shaya in New Orleans, that is how it comes. I would say although this was really good it was amazing when I had it with lamb shredded meat pieces instead. Fish chraime (39 dollars) was delicious. Hoping for a whole fish rather than filet and Not as big a portion as we were anticipating to share for 3 people. Would have been good for 2. Comes with some type of red stew sauce that has a lot of spices and herbs like harissa . The lamb kebabs (18 dollars) were not as we were expecting, as we typically think of kebabs as chunks of meat but these looked bad tasted like lamb meatballs with harissa and yogurt sauce. Although delicious, just not what we are expecting. The meatballs got lost/ did not come out even after we ordered additional hummus, so our server was kind enough to comp the item without is even asking. I ordered the "Dom Carrell Eugene" Rosé (11 dollars) I liked it. Not too dry. My boyfriend typical likes lagers and he ordered the "El Sully " (7 dollars) which comes in a can.The only slight miss or dish we weren't thrilled about was the roasted parsnip dish which didn't have much flavor and really quite aldente to the point it seemed undercooked. read more

Visited there last weekend and was so disappointed with the host staff..Had a table for two and were set at that awful table for 2 that is right by the kitchen where everyone is walking by your table constantly, like a breeding ground for covid... I ask the host if we could move and she said no...i then asked another host could we sit at another table by the window and he said no.....while i was sitting there i could see they were cleaning two table tops and there were 2 open table tops by the bar.. they were not helpful, could give a flip....so i guess it is really hard now to find friendly employees and you have to hire anything that walks in.. read more

However, each plate had a unique twist on a traditional Mediterranean flavors and the menus offered plenty of variety. OMG, my wife and I flew from Seattle to come here and we could not be happier with our decision. First, the staff was lovely and took care of our every need. We were given great food recommendations from our server and the manager even came over to thank us when our server mention we came from Seattle just for dinner. From a service standpoint Safta knocked it out of the park. Now onto the good stuff, the food. Everything we had was very good. Everyone raves about the pita so no need to talk about that. Now I am an unabashed carnivore, but most of our dishes were vegetarian and they were some of the best food we have had in a long time. My favorite was the lamb kabobs (again carnivore), but a close second was the roasted cabbage. I know, who gets roasted cabbage, but I say it is a must. The garlic, butter and white wine that they sous vide before roasting in the wood fired stove was a mind blower. Then the salad that came with it had a nice crunch from the hazelnuts was a perfect combination. The duck matzo ball soup was one of the best soups I have had out at dinner. The matzo balls were nice and soft rather than the dense balls you can get at other places. So run, don't walk to come here. We will definitely be back. Another great find at The Source Hotel! Unlike the South Asian Free Trade Area agreement proposed in 2004, this fantastic eatery actually achieves its goals of reciprocity. Denver has long been a desert in exotic flavors, but Chef John Willis rang the bell, and we citizens answered the call. Our day was themed by the buffet: foods were piping hot, plates were never empty, the variety tempted all 5 senses, and the smells permeated distant and fond memories. Our servers were punctual and ever present. Personally, I would appreciate some recommendations in the future, especially to a novice patron, but I didn't mind roaming like a T-Rex from paddock to paddock. My favorite dishes were the popular pita bread and tahini hummus, the smoked salmon with Labneh, and the potato pakoda. The Shakshuka was bland and devoid of any heat, but perhaps this is just a nuance of what is traditionally a North African dish. The turmeric infused tea gently warmed the bones on the chilly day we visited, and the Head in the Clouds cocktail lived up to its namesake. The Atmosphere was cool and open, though I feel they would benefit from more intimacy. If you're lucky enough to find street parking, 3 hours will be a breeze while enjoying fantastic food and drinks, but beware, as they do not validate hotel parking. I'm still trying to wrap my head around how such a simple meal could be so utterly epic. I don't know if I can go back to eating grocery store hummus, much less falafel from just about anywhere else. There is serious magic happening here, and it's delicious. While dinner seems to be a reservations required affair, we strolled in on a Saturday afternoon with no trouble at all. Our server was very patient answering our questions and making it easier to understand the menu. Since it was a hot day, we decided to keep it simple, opting for the lamb ragu hummus and falafel with tahini. At the last second, we added the pickled veggies and olives. What arrived at the table was a mini feast for two. While the wife and I are not big lamb eaters, the ragu had rich spices without being overbearing. The hummus was...luscious. We started by using knives to politely slather our pita bread. By the end, we took turns using bread to scrape every last bit of hummus from the bowl, no silverware in sight. Speaking of the pita bread. This stuff is fresh out of the oven. Crispy on the outside with subtle charring, fluffy inside, and able to hold up to packing the inside with hummus and falafel and dipping the whole thing in tahini then into some seriously top-shelf olive oil. With the pita bread and a little of this, a little of that, our simple meal became a feast for the senses. While only one pita arrived with the other dishes, our server appeared with a fresh, piping hot replacement before we ran out. Nice touch. Last but not least, falafel. This blows every other establishment out of the water. Crispy crunchy exterior gives way to a tender center. It's also bright green, fresh parsley maybe? I didn't contemplate for long, as I went back to enjoying each bite. Typically, I eat falafel in pita with ton of sauce and veggies, anything to add flavor and moisture. Here, the falafel is perfectly tasty with absolutely nothing on it. It also created an extra layer of texture when adding it to other elements. Unreal. Wife liked her pickled veggies and my olives arrived hot and salty and spiced perfectly. A perfect accoutrement. I seriously can't wait to go back and make my way through the menu. My friend suggested that we go here, and I have to admit, it wasn't my top choice. But this turned out to be one of the best meals I've had in Denver in a long time. The cocktails are definitely on the pricey side (most are ~$15), but I opted for the fig and honey and it may have been one of the best cocktails I've ever had. For food, we started with the soft cooked egg hummus and the whipped feta (oh. my. god.). The hummus defied all expectations of what hummus could be. And they kept delivering fresh wood fired pita that we were watching be made from our seats at the bar. After we finished these dishes we got the fattoush and the fried halloumi, which were also both incredible. The fattoush was presented more like a traditional salad than I've ever seen it, but that was a welcome surprise. We topped it off with the cheesecake and some bubbles. The desserts are $5 and smaller than normal (but expected due to the price) - for us, it was the perfect amount for a sweet bite and they're a great size to sample a couple if you want a larger amount for dessert. Service was a bit slow and unattentive, but not enough to affect my five star rating. I'll be dreaming about this food for a long time and can't wait to come back. read more

I've been going to Safta regularly since I moved to Denver a couple of years ago. The food is great, the bread and dips are so good. They also have some amazing authentic dishes. The last time I went I was disappointed to see some of these dishes taken out from the menu in favor of more common dishes like Cowboy Steak which isn't something I'd go to Safta more. I don't know how I've been sleeping on Safta for this long. It might be my favorite restaurant in Denver now! We started out with the soft egg hummus, labneh, and muhammara. First, I had to be said the fresh made pitas are literally the best I've ever had. Soft, pillowy perfection. The soft egg hummus is topped with pickles, red onion and harissa; it's so creamy and the harissa adds a kick but an incredible burst of flavor. The labneh is something I've never tried before and it was mild and almost cheesy, the shallots, oil and pink peppercorns turned up the flavor just enough that it was almost impossible to not keep going back for more. The muhammara was the silent sleeper and something that will keep me dreaming about Safta! It starts off with a sweetness and then a flavor explosion. I can't describe it any other way. I want that on everything, every day. For our second course, we had the salmon crudo. Holy cow!! It was phenomenal. I love raw salmon, and this was WOW! So unexpected. I do not know how to even describe it, if you like salmon, just get it. And we also had the fried eggplant. The eggplant was delicious and perfectly cooked. We weren't crazy about the combo of the tomato sauce and the goat cheese. Not that they didn't pair well, there was just a lot going on. I think it would be better without a red sauce and just roasted tomatoes and the goat cheese. Either way, I did enjoy it. The Best Israeli food I had in the states . A little expensive but boy is it full of flavors. We had the hummus ragu, eggplant w the goat cheese , shakahuka ( a tad bit too salty) and the cauliflower . That was too much for 2 - you can omit either the shakshuka or the cauliflower .great atmosphere , beautiful location and the bar tender was great (we sat on the bar). Really more of a4.5 stars . So good! I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but I definitely was not disappointed! The restaurant is located inside the main floor of a new hotel in 5 points, but don't let that deter you. Definitely get a reservation as they were packed when we arrived and even though we had a reservation, we had to wait a few minutes for them to get our table cleaned and ready for us. Service was fantastic. Our server was attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes which is important for my party since several of us have food allergies. She was able to answer any questions we had about ingredients used or any dishes we weren't sure what they were. The food was all amazing. We split a bunch of the small plates and starters. All of it was so good. I don't think you can order something that's going to be bad at Safta. The drinks were also all fantastic. We will definitely be back here. read more

PARKING - Parking at the Source hotel is easy, but it's not free which is always a bummer. SERVICE - I had heard about Safta right before my birthday and was excited to take my birthday celebration at the restaurant. The whole experience was outstanding. Our server wasn't shy to offer genuine recommendations for our table, including dishes that she wouldn't recommend. We had a reservation, so we were all set. I wouldn't recommend trying to go without one. Safta fills up quickly. FOOD - Safta is truly one of the best dining experiences I've had in Denver. We tried the lamb hummus, the carrots, the crispy eggplant, matzo ball soup, and falafel. I think about that hummus at least once a week. It lived up the hype. The carrots and the crispy eggplant were also absolutely delicious while the falafel and matzo ball soup were good but were not stand out. The cocktails were also very tasty.
