Love this place! We ordered take out from Saffron over the weekend. I love leftover Indian food, so I ordered several dishes to fill the fridge. Our order consisted of vegetable samosas and samosa chaat, palak paneer, chicken tikka masala, butter chicken, garlic naan, a mango lassi and gulab jamun. Everything has been divine. Stand outs were the veggie samosas, which were seasoned to perfection! The chicken tikka was spot-on. The butter chicken was creamy and mild. It was all exceptional. I lived in Houston for the majority of my life, therefore my standard for food is pretty high since Houston is such a diverse city with tons of amazing restaurants. There are only two Indian food places in Waco that I know of and Saffron is one of them. It's definitely been an adjustment being in a city with little food diversity and culture, but Saffron didn't disappoint my craving for Indian food! Their butter chicken and garlic naan are phenomenal. The curry sauce was so flavorful and the chicken was tender. All curries come with a side of long grain basmati rice with cilantro and cumin. If you love garlic like me, you'll love the garlic naan. It's loaded with garlic butter. I ordered masala chai and it was alright, wish it had a stronger ginger/spice flavor. If you like Indian cuisine, this place is a must visit! We had the buffet so we're able to try a little bit of everything! I highly recommend the chicken tikka masala! Next time we come we will probably order off of the menu so we can get exactly the few items we really want the most. After living several years in the bigger cities of Austin and San Antonio, I have been DYING for decent Indian food since moving to the Waco area for work. Lo and behold this place hit the spot! Tried the one other Indian place in the area and was def not a fan, so this new restaurant was a much needed addition! The restaurant itself is very clean and the staff were extremely nice. Ordered takeout consisting of the butter chicken, beef seekh kabobs, chicken samosas, and naan. Only complaint was I didn't feel there was enough rice given with the order, but that was more than made up for with the order of naan which was large and very good. The butter chicken hit the spot, but have to say the chicken samosas were the STAR of the meal... SO GOOD! Needless to say, I think this restaurant now has a new regular :) read more

Waco has always lacked in the way of quality Asian food but this restaurant made up for it!! We had an incredible experience from start to finish - from our knowledgeable waitress guiding us (very patiently) through the menu, to the food coming out piping hot and fresh and flavorful to the max (we had chicken samosas, butter chicken, paneer tikka, goat bihryani, naan - all SO delicious and flavorful, unlike many bland restaurants trying to "play it safe"), to the owner coming to talk to us about the food and asking for any recommendations on how to improve. Times are tough for small businesses but I'm grateful for the small business owners who are still out there trying to bring their gifts and talents to improve a community. You'll find that at Saffron. So I will definitely be coming back and bringing friends! read more

This is an amazing Pakistani Indian restaurant. The best time to eat is at 8:00PM right before the kitchen closes. Butter chicken is my favorite dish. The Indian coffee is amazing. Great cooks and good service! read more

HIGHLY recommend! We visited Saffron during a visit to Waco and it is easily one of the top Indian/Pakistani restaurants we've ever been to. The service was excellent and I appreciated the care they've taken to maintain social distancing and ensure all staff are masked. Let me just stop here and say - they serve the BEST Raita I've ever tasted in my life! Super fresh and just a hint of spice - the perfect compliment to my Goat Biryani and plain naan (both of which were excellent in their own right)! We also ordered Vegetable Samosas and Chicken Tikka Masala, beautifully flavored. This meal did not disappoint, nor did the leftovers. Go there. Eat amazing South Asian food. Share with others. Have been to Saffron twice now. Very good Northern Indian and Pakistani cuisine. Good menu for evening and buffet for noon. The food is top notch and the staff is super friendly. Definitely recommend, this was my 1st time here but will have many returns. Samosa are perfect, crispy without the filling being dry. Fabulous food and generous portions. We've been ordering to go from Saffron about every other week since it opened. Some of the appetizers are almost enough for a full meal. Our favorite order is one chicken/beef or veggie Samosas, one Veggie Samosa Chaat, and one chicken/goat biryani with a couple of Naan. Really one of the most flavorful meals I've ever had. I attended a birthday lunch for my nephew with family and we had an awesome time. The buffet was excellent, the chicken tika masala and butter chicken were on par..the nan was warm soft and plentiful. They brought us tamarin chutney to dip, and rice pudding with pistachios was amazing. The okra dish and the chick pea dish were tasty but a bit spicy. The rita was smooth and cooling, and the rice was nice and warm with separate grains, no gummy texture. I would recommend this restaurant for the buffet 6 days a week. Excellent food, excellent service. My table tried about 8 items on the menu (no buffet), and I tried about 4 of those items. Everyone was very impressed with their meals and agreed it was all delicious and fresh. I had the curried goat, and we also have some samosas for a group appetizer. Another had the Tikka Masala. Such a great experience! Our server was also super attentive and friendly. I'm sorry some others had a bad experience, but I do not think that is reflective of what this restaurant can offer. My wife and I were there for the grand opening. I wish we had a better review to give but truthfully we were deeply disappointed. The ambiance is nice and the wait staff being new is understandably still learning the menu. When it comes to the food we both agreed the filtered water that was served in an ice cold carafe was the best part of the dinner! The the Samosas and Pakoras are under a heat lamp as you walk in, theyre not made to order so nothing to say except they were both poor quality. Samosas lacked flavor and the Pakoras were just breading, setting under the lamp does no good for theses items. we ordered the Beef stew. It came in a small portion that had almost a half inch of grease floating on the top. The naan was nothing to write home about either. We will not return because we know what this food should be. We paid the check and realized this is another one we can write off in Waco. read more

Very limited options for vegetarian or vegan. Not a good place if you are vegetarian or vegan food. They gave me fried okra which was pretty much submerged in oil and salt. It seemed to me that the food is made by a person who just started to learn how to cook. If you have eaten Indian food or you can cook Indian food you will not like the food. My suggestion for the restaurant will be to stick with the traditional Indian food and invest in your quality of food not in a decoration. Waco definitely needs a good Indian restaurant.
