TLDR: poor seating system. Try any Naan! When you walk in the smell of incense hits you pretty hard but fades gradually. The restaurant is dimly lit at night and has an almost fancy feel to it. Beautifully decorated with Indian music playing into the background. Lots of ToGo and delivery orders being picked up in the lobby in addition to people waiting to be seated. The stray flies here and there were a bit disconcerting for such a nice place. Menu has no pictures and has some helpful descriptions. Service: very slow--needs more workers up front. The main guy (potentially the owner) has a calm demeanor and seems to take his sweet time. They don't have an efficient system of seating people. We were seated after people that came in minutes after us. They only started making a wait list when people started to pile in. Therefore, we weren't on that list and were forgotten until we spoke up. Wait to be seated, order and pay at the table, you will be watered. Servers are Complimentary Mango Relish upon being seated. You can eat it with your naan. It's a bit on the sour side for me. Garlic Naan: Huge Naan! Comes with a tamarind and something green dipping sauce. But the Naan can really be eaten with anything on the menu. Keema Masala: with lamb. Has a slight kick that goes away with water. The meat itself is mushy because it's so tender but that doesn't take away the flavor! Love the potato chunks and the spices! Comes with lightly flavored rice. Mulligatawny Soup: the menu neglected to note that this is a blended soup--I was expecting chunks of chicken and lentils but it was more of a tomato bisque consistency. Still good with naan but not as filling. Mango Kulfi: lightly sweetened with a creamy taste of champagne mangos. Texture is almost like compacted shaved ice. Small proportion leaves you wanting more. read more

The food here is delicious! I had buttered chicken, dessert, fries, and the gyro plate everything was so good! The place is super cute on the inside and the ambiance was laid back. The service was amazing, we were seated right away and our server John went above and beyond. read more

3 words. Unlimited. Chai. Refills. This concept alone would get me to come back. Great decor. Decent prices. Tasty food. Pakoras and vegetable cutlets were by far the best vegetarian appetizer. Paneer tikki was so-so. For mains we ordered okra masala, butter paneer, karahi paneer, and tadka dal. Gravy on butter paneer was fabulous. They gave us free gulab jam on the house which we loved. read more

It is very tasty and nice atmosphere. Even if you don't like Indian food, they also have Greek and American cuisine. they also have lots of vegan options! TASTY IS THE DEFINITION OF THIS RESTAURANT!!!!!¡ read more

Food is not terrible. Not memorable either. It took a while to come out and wasnt even hot. Waited over 15 minutes to get our bill because the owner has to approve each bill. What a BS business practice. We literally watched our server waiting (and waiting) to have the owner look at it. Ive heard rumours about how horrible it is to work there. Seeing with my own eyes was confirmation. read more

Food is alright. Not the best Indian food, but quite good for Seattle. The lassi on the other hand, outstanding... for a while. Used to come here weekly for their mango lassi until they decided to nearly double the price. If I was buying too many, just lmk lol. Now I won't be getting any in the future, but was good while it lasted. Still a good lassi, just not good enough to be $7. Please stop being greedy, just ruining your own business! read more

I've always been curious to try this place since it's so visible from the freeway. Decided to have dinner here on New Year's Eve - thankfully I put a reservation down for our group of 6 because it was packed at 7pm. My boyfriend and I ordered the butter chicken curry and the tandoori chicken (bone in). We also had the garlic naan for the table. Don't skip the naan! That was delicious and it's huge! Of the two dishes we ordered, we both preferred the butter chicken. It was so flavorful and comforting. Great portion size as well. Nothing was wrong with the tandoori...it just didn't compare to the butter chicken. Service especially on this busy day was spot on. Water was refilled several times and we were checked on. My only issue was the price $19 is a bit steep for butter chicken imo. read more

Been going for years. Prices have gone up and portions have gone down. Take out issues: Ordered Chana masala mild. Too much ginger and too spicy for my friend. Ordered vege pakoras. Only got five. They werent as good as last time we ate in. No tamarind sauce. Ordered two main dishes and received less rice. Our friend paid $24 for butter chicken with mostly sauce as the main ingredient. I keep trying the food because I have such a long history with their restaurant, but may have to give up. read more

A 4.85 star experience. Pro: Great food!! Our party of 7 adults and 3 very young children picked items from all over the menu. Tandoori Chicken, Lamb Kebabs, Curries (Vegetable, Tofu and Chicken), Falafel and even French Fries. Every thing was delicious. Staff was courteous and took great care of us. The new lighting and decor are great! The outside signage and lighting were a bit garish for my taste, but you can't drive by and miss it at night. Con: The parking is shared with a hotel. The spots are tight and 95% full on a Sunday night. A great restaurant that serves halal meats and vegetarian/vegan choices too? It's at the top of our list! read more

Stopped in for dinner and eas seated right away. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. The menu had classic dishes and some that I didn't recognize. We had coconut shrimp, naan, chicken tikka masala, chicken korma, and mango lassi. All of the food was excellent, fresh, and delicios. Service was great, attentive and not over bearing. Excellent dining experience. read more

Expensive - very expensive. Prices have gone up almost 50% in a year and closer to 100% over 2 years WATCH OUT FOR THE MANDATORY SERVICE CHARGE OF 20% FOR TABLES OF 4 OR MORE. Also note that they calculate the tip based on the total with tax. I complained and said I would reluctantly pay the 20% (it took almost an hour to get our food) but I would not pay the tip on the tax. The waiter said he couldn't change it so I told him to get his manager. The waiter came back 5 minutes later and had miraculously removed the 20% tip. This was our go to place for birthdays, graduations and anniversaries . We will not be going back. read more

I've only been here twice, (once pre-pandemic and one night ago) but I've had excellent food and service both times. The restaurant is clean, comfortable, and the service staff are very professional and friendly. I can't remember our servers name from last night (Alma?) but she was wonderful - she took very good care of my mom and I and was very sweet. The food is also delicious, and generous portion sizes. The garlic naan is HUGE and so yummy! I wish I had taken pictures, but I was too busy stuffing my face. I love that they do refills for the masala chai, having it iced with my meal is the best. I would recommend this restaurant for large parties, date night, or with people you are willing to share food with. read more

Fabulous ambiance that is warm, colorful and aromatic. The buzz of conversation, the jingle of plates & utensils create a symphony of energy. Your food will be spectacular, no matter what you choose. This place gets extra stars because they actually make the food spicy. Been to too many restaurants in the Seattle Bellevue area where you ask for 5 star spice and simply do not give you any. Came here for lunch and they gave a roasted spiced nut snack to munch on while waiting. Got butter chicken and lamb rogan josh with garlic Naan. Food doesn't come out super quickly but it isntly alow either. Flavor of the food is well seasoned and has generous butter and cream for the butter chicken. Definitely one of the better places to get Indian food in Seattle and actually adhere to their spice ratings. read more

I would not recommend this restaurant. Although the food is good, they are not equipped to handle the volume of folks they receive from online, in house and phone in patrons. It's not acceptable My last experience here was ordering take out and waiting 1 hr waiting in the restaurant with many other folks from door dash, Uber and other folks. They recognized I wasn't happy and comped me $10. That's not what I'm worth per hour. No. Sorry, I'll try making good Indian food myself if that's the service here. Good bye! read more

Agreeing with many other reviews- I love this place, have been coming for years but 1) it is very expensive for the portion size & 2) the service is very slow despite how many employees they have working at one time. We got two curry's, one chai & one garlic naan- after tax & tip it was $75.. that's a lot for two people for literally two entrees. It wasn't busy when we went most recently, tons of employees doing nothing yet no one approached for awhile. Once someone did though they were very nice and everyone we interacted with was very nice but it was hard to get an employees attention. Later on into the evening they get very busy & don't take reservations. I'd recommend coming at like 5pm or as close as possible if you don't want to wait over an hour. I think they have some of the best Indian food in the area but we don't come that often cause of the prices and the wait time. I absolutely love their butter chicken, very few Indian places the chicken is this tender and moist. read more

This used to be a restaurant that we would recommend as one of the few places in Seattle reminiscent of a great Indian restaurant in the UK - but NOT any more after our visit tonight. This place has gone downhill a lot and here's the reasons why: 1) The food lacks flavor- you could barely taste the aromatics and spices, plus heat was non-existent with 3.5 stars tasting like 1.5 stars. Also, the cilantro was non-existent, and naan's taste like they were made with very cheap flour and not a lick of butter. 2) There were plenty of staff and tables, but we still ended up having to wait for 10 minutes. 3) Prices are sky high - an entree was about $28 which is a good $10 higher than most Indian restaurants and a plain naan was $7. 4) There is an automatic service charge of 20% for tables of 4 or more and this is pre-tax so really you are automatically being charged a 25%+ service! 5) Decor is very tired looking inside, but there's lots more lights outside to attract you in. I don't think this restaurant can really qualify as Indian - it's more like a restaurant that wants to serve all sorts of cuisine and we've had better Indian food in Mexico! On the positive side the portions were decent, the naan large and they gave us a complimentary slice of cake - which was stale, so they were obviously trying to get rid of it. Our server tried her best but almost seemed to know that we were going to be disappointed. Overall - there are lots of alternatives where you can have much better Indian food, and this place should be renamed as a general international restaurant. read more

I had been hearing for several years the food at Saffron Grill was solid, but something about the location being in the parking lot of a Northgate motel and the idea that the menu was both Indian and Mediterranean was hard for me to wrap my head around. That was misguided, especially since I've gone for much stranger ideas and locations for food. I can't speak to the Mediterranean side of the menu (though it all sounds good), but the Indian dishes we had were fresh, delicious and well spiced. Within many cuisines I have certain dishes I can't resist if they are on the menu. For Indian food that dish is Samosa Chaat. I highly recommend it at Saffron Bistro with a warning. If you like it as much as I do you may not have room for a lot more food! It's an appetizer, but if you are eating with just one other person it is a lot of food. That doesn't mean I want it smaller! I loved their tangy and tart chutneys. Given the heaviness of the chaat, I stuck with Tandoori shrimp and really liked that it was served with fresh sautéed vegetables, which you can also get as a side order. Our server was attentive and chai was kept filled. I appreciated the fresh containers of chutney she gave me to enjoy with my leftovers. The space is large but still feels warm and inviting, with a contemporary design. read more

What a pleasant surprise on this dining experience. Staying at the Courtyard around the block I stopped in to the Saffron on a Monday not expecting much. The place was jumping and full of diners. I ate at the bar receiving great service and great food. Naan bread, hummus, grape leaves to start. All were delicious. We tried two house specials and they were great. I will go again if I am back this way. read more

The food is pretty solid. My reason for only 3 stars is our party of 4 was charged a 20% service charge which dampened the evening. For this reason alone we won't return, it felt like too much of a money grab. In reality we would have most likely tipped 20% anyway. read more

Man I get take out here all the time because the food is so good! I've pretty much tried all their curries and love them all. My favorites are the butter chicken and the Shahi korma. The Samosa Chaat appetizer is also fantastic. They give a TON of rice. They have a interesting Mediterranean side to their menu too, and I think also serve burgers (?!?) But I have never ventured there. My only quip is the restaurant is really expensive for Indian food. Nearly $20 for each curry. read more

New favorite restaurant. They have happy hour from 3pm-6pm. I ordered a margarit, a samosa, which had the best crust I've ever had, pakora, which was perfectly cooked, garlic naan, and a paneer dish I can't remember the name of. I also got a delicious litte pistachio baklava for dessert. Everything was outstanding, from the flavor, the presentation, atmosphere, timing, and the staff. I'm taking a hot date there ASAP. read more

There are not enough good things to say about this restaurant. Everything from the ambiance to the food to the service is exceptional. The manager, Próspero, knows how to pick A-class staff that works together and does their job well. He greets all who enter their establishment with a smile that feels like instant kinship. The waitstaff follows the same example. The Indian food is authentic, lovely, and comforting. The Mediterranean is clean, flavorful, and filling. Laughter and smiles are on the faces of all the families, couples, and friends dining here. And their chai is the best I've ever had. I wish I could take it all home with me in my pocket to share with the people in Atlanta, because this place is world-class while making you feel like you are too and you belong there. read more

Food was alright but we were blown away by how expensive it was, and the small portion sizes. $27.99 for butter chicken!! $15 for 2 samosas! We did have some naan and it was delicious. The vindaloo was good, but the flavors weren't particularly strong and there were nearly as many potatoes as lamb which for $29 was disappointing. read more

Food was fine. But my tandoori chicken was just warm, not freshly hot. Service was bad. No wonder tho, they automatically add 20% of tips (and we were asked more when we paid). Over priced too. $175 for 4 (2 grownups, 2 kids), my husband and I had only one drink each. No one smiled, we had to wait 10-15 min although google said now wait and there were so many tables available. Our server forgot our drinks, food came out before drinks. We are not going back. read more

My daughters and I were craving Indian food so we used the Grubhub app to order for pick-up here. My eldest ordered calamari. This was a disappointment because it was overcooked and they did not give a lot. The calamari rings were cut thin too. I order led shih kabab and only got some rice, veggie and one stick of kabab for the price of $22. My youngest ordered chicken tikka masala. All she got was chicken with no rice for $16.99. This place is overpriced and doesn't give a lot of food. Cedars Restaurant is way better. Will not order from here again. read more

FANTASTIC. I grew up in the area and this place has been a constant for as long as I can remember... but, I went for the first time this year. Since then we have been back 6 times and brought other friends/groups. Large selection of food, vegetarian friendly, great bar options and lovely restaurant. Perfect for a casual friend gathering for happy hour or a date night. Service is fantastic and prompt. The butter paneer is great. I'm not a huge fan of Saag but I liked theirs. My husband said this is the best lamb he's ever had. I am a huge fan of their mango lassi. read more

Arrived for dinner at 6:40 and there was a HUGE crowd of people in the waiting area. Come to find out, these were all to-go orders for Uber eats and door dash. Once I was finally able to make it to the hostess station, I told there was a 30 minute wait. That's fine, it's dinner rush and I don't mind. 1 hour later.... The 3 groups in front of us hadn't been seated and the only food leaving the kitchen was for the to-go orders. My wife and I decide to go to Taste of India just down the road. Owned by the same people and serving the same food. We get there only to be informed that they stop in door dining at 7:45 and that they only take to-go orders after that. While I'm sure that the food here must be wonderful to warrant all the business, I wouldn't know because we didn't get the chance to try it. While I understand that they are transitioning back to be able to do dine in again and that to-go business has been their bread and butter cash cow this past year, this experience was atrocious. They need a separate area for people picking up to-go orders and extra kitchen staff to accommodate that extra business. Nobody knew who was dine in or to go and it was just a massive cluster fuck. And for Pete's sake, stop taking to go orders during dinner rush if you can't keep up!!! read more

Solid Mediterranean and Indian food, good service, and great drinks. I love the Greek Salad with feta and the Spicy Chili Nan!

Really awful online ordering experience. We ordered online on a Sunday night at 6:50pm. The estimated pickup time was at 7:30 so we got there a little early in case it was ready early. Fat chance! Not only was it not ready on time but they only made half of our order. It took another 15 minutes for them to rush our second tandoori chicken with no apology and no acknowledgement that they had made a mistake. We left with our full order an hour after we had placed our order online. Both of our meals were much smaller than usual. Maybe they were running low on chicken? The one thing they got right was my chutney request. I am torn. We have been dining here for over ten years. If our next experience is similar to the one we just had, I guess we will look for a place that doesn't give us a lunch sized portion for dinner. Also, it might be better to call in your takeout order. The mishap we experienced might have been from ordering online. read more

I dont eat Indian food often but this place makes the food easy to eat. I would try a different place if you are looking for a strong spice smell and flavor. I ordered a lunch plate of chicken tikka. It was just ok. The chicken looked like its packed of flavor but was not that flavorful. There was not much spices into it. The rice does not have any flavor, just simple boiling rice. I also ordered two samosas, one veggies and one beef. The samosas were big; you do get quality samosa here. I was full immmediately after one. The shell was thin and crunchy. It was full of meat and veggies inside. However the meat didnt have so much spices. The sauce however was very good. I love to dip samosa or chicken in it. The restaurant looked clean and spacious. Customer service was friendly. read more
