This meant that we weren't able to add more dishes, as what we had ordered wasn't enough for all of us to feel completely full. It was a solid spot with good vibes, but for the price point, I would hope that the service and communication would be more attentive.

I just looked on their menu to figure out what the fries that I ate were called, and I can't find them for the life of me. But they had their own incredible dip completely covering them. At one point we had 4 different dips on the table, and I'm not sure how they got there. 1) The dip on the fries 2) Spicy hummus (not that spicy, incredibly tasty) 3) Za'tar that comes with the pita 4) Yogurt sauce that came with the Kabob combo Everything comes with something else here. The biggest disappointment is that this establishment passes on a 5% fee to help pay for their staff's benefits. They stay it's optional and they can take it off but it's very distasteful. The owner should reconsider this and build this expense into the pricing of their menu. Otherwise their wait staff is going to feel slighted when customers leave less tip because of this additional fee. Overall, this is a solid place, but the experience was just average considering all aspects, and therefore the three star rating.

The chicken was super tender, the chili-fruit paste was not spicy, just the right amount of sweet and spicy. The grilled pork was tender and sweet, it was definitely one of my favorites. The hostess refused, so we stepped aside. 2 minutes later our 3rd friend arrived. I asked the group behind us if they minded us getting back in line. They laughed and said it was no problem because they had just had their 3rd person arrive as well. When I got back in line, the hostess deliberately skipped over me and called the next group instead. After seating them, I stopped her and asked for a table for 3. She asked if it would "really" be just 3. At that point I honestly didn't know. Our 4th friend was driving from Everett and had texted that she was stuck in standstill traffic. I said yes, seat the 3 of us. The hostess told us to wait while she seated yet another group, taking the last indoor table. We were then placed outside on a hot day. Despite how the evening started, I did exactly what I'd said I would. We ordered dinner for the entire group, including 2 bottles of wine to avoid inconveniencing them with making drinks. Then, incredibly, the hostess came back to our table and removed the 4th chair to make absolutely sure our last friend couldn't join us if she arrived. The kohlrabi with peaches was so aggressively smoky that we left almost the entire dish untouched. The mushrooms were fine. The grilled pork was excellent and easily the highlight of the meal. The cod was just okay, and the desserts were average. We spent ~$500 for the meal. People don't spend this kind of money just for the food. The price reflects the entire experience, and that's where this restaurant failed. The service felt cold, impersonal, and overly focused on rules instead of hospitality. Rather than making guests feel welcome, the hostess made us feel like a problem she had to manage. I've had warmer, friendlier service at fast food restaurants. I won't be returning, and I took the time to write this review because no meal, especially one marking such a meaningful reunion, should be overshadowed by such an unnecessarily unpleasant welcome.

I was sharing the food with five other people so the three mezze dips was the perfect option, I also added the special dip of the day that had 100% proceeds going to help those in Nepal. I also added one of the pressed Saj, the grilled Kefta a lot easier to share. One of my friends wanted the Lamb wrap so that was included in the order as well. Love how fresh the ingredients were. Each dip had distinctively different flavors and textures. Saj was included two different ways to enjoy with the mezze in its soft flatbread form and as a cracker perfect for dipping. My favorites were the Muhummara and the Nuraniye (Zuchinni Dip). I liked the tanginess of the Muhummara and the fresh lemon forward of the Nuraniye. The Kefta was delicious, I need to carry a knife for situations like this when sharing food we ended up ripping off pieces this came with Labneh. I definitely want to try a wrap next time and well their toum sauce. Service was friendly and helpful when I was explaining there was a group of us sharing the items.

The signature saj bread is cooked fresh on a hot stone and is almost like a Middle Eastern flour tortilla with the way it's super thin and satisfyingly chewy bite. The only seating options are a few large benches on the sidewalk, but there's a poster saying you're welcome to sit at the neighboring bar which opens in the late afternoon provided you purchase a drink as well. Ended up sampling 3 of their wrap options and the Zaatar Wrap was deliciously nutty and fragrant, but texturally there was so many herbs that the center ate a little dry. The Lahme Khuruf (Lamb) was my favorite by far with super juicy ground meat with some tang from the labneh, sweetness, freshness from the tomato, and texture from the pine nuts. Absolute home run on this one! The Awarma and Cheese was a close second, but personally, the flavor profile was just a little less interesting than the lamb. Tip: grab some extra napkins as the wraps can fall apart a bit at the end!

Shawarma Man is an absolute gem in the neighborhood. I've been waiting years for a truly great chicken shawarma spot nearby, and these guys finally delivered. The owners are incredibly warm and welcoming -- the kind of people who make you feel like a regular on your very first visit. The food itself is unreal. The chicken shawarma is tender, perfectly seasoned, and packed with flavor in a way that instantly puts it above every other spot around. You can tell they care about what they're serving. What really sealed it for me was the hospitality. They even gave me a free drink, no charge, just to say thanks for stopping by. Little touches like that make a huge difference. This review is going to be a little different from normal. I originally wrote up a lengthy post for…read moreReddit but decided that it had too much personal information. I moved to Seattle from Dearborn, the city with the highest concentration of Arab Americans in the US. I am not Arab myself, but I used to eat shawarma 2 to 3 times a week for lunch. Since moving here, I have not been able to find a place serving shawarma anything like the places in Dearborn. Most of the restaurants in Seattle that serve this dish are heavily Westernized, gentrified, and/or serve Pan-Levantine food, like the typical "Mediterranean" place that has a mishmash of Greek and Middle Eastern food. I'm not saying it's bad food; it's just not the same. Syrian Wrap does have some of those trimmings - they have gyro and Greek fries on the menu for example - but they lean much more heavily into accessible, Syrian-influenced cuisine. I'm not an expert in Syrian food by any means but from my limited experience visiting the few Syrian places in Dearborn, I see some of the hallmarks at Syrian Wrap, like the donut-shaped, perfectly crisp and fluffy falafel, the balanced use of pomegranate molasses, the muhammara, and how the chef cuts the shawarma into slices instead of leaving it as a handheld sandwich wrap. Unlike what seems to be every other place in Seattle, they do chicken shawarma right. Firstly, the sandwich only has three ingredients inside - chicken, toum, and pickles. They don't add lettuce, tomato, cucumber, hummus, rice (why rice!?), or any other filler. Their current menu states they include tomato and lettuce, but I confirmed with the waitress that it's a mistake. And obviously when the shawarma came out it didn't have any. Otherwise, their pickles are normal, enough of a snap to give texture, and a good amount of acidity. I think their toum is serviceable, but not the best. It's really runny and tangy like they added too much yogurt. Maybe that's a Syrian thing? Secondly, the Arabic pita is thin and is pressed after rolling until a maillard crust develops. It doesn't seem to be as thin as a typical mass produced Lebanese pita, but is much thinner than the monstrous Greek pita which most places in Seattle love to use. The focus of the sandwich is the meat and seasoning rather than the bread. Unfortunately I got there too early for fresh shaved chicken as they had just loaded the spit when I arrived (~1 PM). It takes at least an hour to get the first layer of meat charred so I was relegated to grilled chicken. The chicken was really good regardless - perfectly moist, literally dripping with juices and grease, and the seasoning mix tasted right, full of earthy warmth and a hint of fruity citrus. It's not the perfect shawarma, but it's the closest I've found so far in Seattle. Syrian Wrap doesn't serve Meat Shawarma for some reason. If you don't know, it's an Arabic pita with a little tahini, pickled turnips, parsley, tomato, onion, and meat (beef and/or lamb - the last time I talked about this with an Arab-American, they said Arabic has no distinction between red meats, so it's generically called "meat") shaved off the spit. Every single shawarma place in Dearborn serves meat so I was surprised not seeing it on the menu here. Now back to the regularly scheduled programming: Hummus ($7.99) - This hummus doesn't taste like any that I've had before. It's blended until smooth, then sprinkled with sumac, has olives added to the top, then some fresh olive oil. The oil is peppery and nice, a far cry from my experience with most place that serve somewhat rancid, tasteless oil. The hummus itself has a strange sharpness to it, like they added olive brine. It has too much salt added so it gives a certain feeling to both the front of the tongue and the back of the throat that isn't pleasing to my palate. (3/5) Falafel Plate ($16.99) - Unlike the typical spherical falafel, these Syrian-style falafel are flattened a little, then punctured through the middle, creating a torus. This is the ideal shape for frying since it allows extra crispy bits to develop and requires less fry time, leaving the interior super moist and fluffy. The falafel are spiced and seasoned perfectly. The plate also comes with baba ganoush, which is somewhat smoky. It's rather pale and isn't charred nearly as much as some others I've eaten. There's also muhammara, vegetal, peppery, and nutty from the pureed walnuts. Underneath is a pile of rice, vibrantly orange in color like saffron is added. It's moist and fluffy, yet still has a pleasing bite. Finally, there's a little side salad, fresh and lightly dressed with pomegranate molasses. Sweet, fruity, and puckeringly sour. (5/5) Syrian Wrap serves some of the most authentic shawarma in Seattle. I need to revisit in the near future for the actual fresh shaved chicken shawarma. The restaurant is bright and airy when you enter in with high ceilings and large windows. As a chicken shawarma wrap is one of my favorite things in the world, I had to try it here, and it was an interesting version - there was no veggies and only a little bit of pickled veggies in the wrap and the texture of the chicken was very different from the usual in Seattle and reminded me of the shawarma I had in Amsterdam. Taste wise - it was very flavorful as there wasn't any veggies or sauce so it was very different from my usual haunts. But next time, I would love to try some of their other offerings such as chicken shawarma with mushrooms, corn lettuce and tomoaoes in a french bread or a smash sandwich with seasoned meat.

Parking was a bit tough in that area, especially during rush hour.

Another customer in front of me must've been a regular because when the customer made conversation at the takeout window, I heard one of the workers go "We love you, John!!!" On one super rainy day, my partner and I were walking by and spontaneously decided to go up to the little window and get one lamb gyro the guy at the window, who I didn't know was the owner, looked at us weird and at first I was like ???? but after 5 min of prepping our order he calls us back to the window and hands us TWO gyros and says "you can't just get one! there are two of you! you won't feel full!" and he hands us both, one on the house I was so shocked it was so kind and unexpected of him. We ended up eating outside right under the window and 2 min later the owner walks out with a slice of bread and starts feeding the ducks outside the store. He told us that they're a couple and that they come by every year to lay eggs and they visit him every night for dinner during this time. He also told us that Cedars of Lebanon has been open for over 40 years and that it used to be so rowdy and exciting. So many people would gather around and spend time in his restaurant but now it's a lot quieter (I'm assuming this is because new, more novel places have been popping up on the Ave). I left this conversation so touched and full of love for this man, I genuinely wish him the best. His unprompted kindness towards a complete stranger and willingness to spend time chatting with us alone makes this place 5 stars for me, so many places lack this kind of passion and love that we could really use more of. this happened almost a year ago but I wanted to share my experience to highlight how wonderful of a man the owner is, hopefully we can continue to have nice things and no one abuses his kindness anyway I wanna go back and try their falafel apparently it's super good

There were a few other people at 11:30am We asked if they do lunch buffet as I didn't see any self serve food. The staff said they offered in the past but not today.. it might come back in 2 weeks? We ordered hummus, garlic naan, fish masala and special kebabs without lamb which was accommodated per our request. The food even the side veggies were really good, we all liked everything. I like this place for good quality fresh ingredients that I don't feel overstuffed. It's probably because the food is easy to digest? This doesn't happen with other Mediterranean and Indian food. I'd like to come back when they start lunch buffet again.
