It's a big nautical themed bar with many dimly lit areas and other big open areas. Emphasis on big. This place is huge and one of my favorite places to go when I have a bigger-ish group because there's so many pockets of space. Their food options are via their in-house spot called the Salty Shack, order via QR code. Food comes out fast. HH drinks are great, and service is good even when busy. Street parking might seem intimidating but donchu worry, just circle and you'll find something!

This is a vibe!!! The lighting and every little detail in the decor is so fun! They were playing star wars but had indie music! Food was pretty divey and your normal menu but it was a nice place to have a convo with my friend! Service was nice and fast. Will have to come back to try out that photo booth

Great friendly service! The ambiance was pretty cool with some funky nautical decor. The food was really good and they have plenty of vegetarian and also more than one vegan and dairy free option too. Would definitely go back especially as they have a dog friendly area!

A neighborhood bar that's dimly colorful and spacious. The decor really 'dives' into the sea theme, pun intended. It definitely gives bar character. My first visit was just for some midday drinks. Our bar lady was very friendly and attentive to keeping out glasses full which was a good look. Around this time, it was quiet with some music going, making it a good place to knock back a few. My second visit was with friends who wanted to see some nightlife in the area. By this time the dancefloor was packed with mostly 00's hip-hop/pop playing. A decent crowd but the bartenders were good handling the rush and we got our drinks with no issue. It's sped up by the interesting swivel tablet things that really makes paying fast. I haven't had a chance to eat here yet, just some tots, but I definitely see continued visits here and will update accordingly. In the meantime, Octopus is nice bar by day for simple drinking or by night if you want something livelier.

Came here on a Thursday and it was Tattoo Thursday! They have other special events on occasion so make sure to check their schedule if you plan on going. Went with a group of about 7 people. It wasn't too busy but might be because of it being on a Thursday. Compared to when I came on NYE and it was super packed. I ordered the Shipwrecked Molly (cocktail) and it was pretty good. It came with a Swedish fish which I ate immediately because I didn't want to mix or stir or whatever with the drink? I loved the vibe of the place. Definitely sunken ship / shipwreck kind of thing which suited the name of Octopus Bar.

Aloha, When in traveling, we always seek out a good solid neighborhood bar (that's walkable). We stumbled upon this fun bar with good food and nice IPA beers. There was Trivia the night we were here, so it was fun guessing along. I can see this a very popular neighborhood pub for the University crowd. Enjoy!

Food is expensive but deceptively filling-- caesar salad has goldfish in it! Bingo is very worth coming for! Hosts are great and prizes well worth it

I've been wanting to come here for a long time, and luckily for me I walked in last night literally 5 minutes before trivia started and ended up staying for over 2 hours. Whoever was leading trivia did an INCREDIBLE job and we had such a fun time! We got a few drinks, I really liked the shipwrecked molly! If you're a mezcal fan, the sirena secreta is also good! Also got the mini corndogs, they were so so good and the serving size was much larger then I was expecting and I didn't feel shorted the way bar food/apps sometimes do. One reason I gave 4 stars, and I will go back, so I'm hoping to upgrade to 5 stars in the future. The bartenders were both super rude. I generally drink in places where I know the bartenders so I haven't really experienced the stories of rude Seattle bartenders but definitely did last night. Hoping it was just an off night, I'll definitely be back anyway.

The sandwiches are nice and stacked and are balance of flavors. The fries and tots must also be some of the best tasting and most affordable in Seattle. It was so nice to have a good sandwich with a cocktail while the windows were open on a perfect Seattle day. We would both definitely come back for our sandwiches again!

Outside food is welcome, the ballgame's on the tube, and you can play shuffleboard and other stuff to wile away the hours. Regular trivia nights and other events. Wines, ciders, seltzers, and candy also available. In long When he first started selling beers, he made a lot of saisons. For some of us, those dry, funky Belgians are where your palate finds home after trying every beer style. Only some of us, though. They can be hard to sell after a while, especially these days. So now the lineup here runs to lots of gorgeous, refreshing lagers, some explosively-flavorful hoppy stuff, and the occasional big chewy high-abv ale. For a saison whore like me, this is kinda like learning Michelangelo doesn't paint anymore, he just gets down with sculpture now. Not a tragedy by any means, but we still feel the absence. But why are saisons not the huge seller that IPAs are? Well, in part, 'cause old heads like me cut out beer. I did, anyway. I came out of retirement yesterday afternoon to try Nick's beers 'cause they had a Washington Cheese release event at the brewery yesterday. (Can't wait to try those, by the way). I checked out a landbier, german pils, west coast pils, and a hazy IPA. All wonderful, refreshing, and without flaw. We had a couple other beers at the table, along with a seltzer and wine. There's nothing here I wouldn't have again. The space is a good size--seating here, bar back there, brewhouse off to one side, more seating up the ramp in back. They had the Olympics on the flat screens and projector. There are board games and cards near the bar, and shuffleboard upstairs. This was another brewery before, and that brewery put in the shuffleboard table and at least some of the brew equipment. You can still see the name of the old brewery here and there. L&L is an even better source of beer IMO. Somewhat infamously, this space was also a funky dive bar and a, uh, gentleman's club in decades gone by. No trace of either of them remain. The folks who run this place are friendly and fun, and there aren't too many places making beer this good. They even have a great knack for designing cool labels (all done in house!). Highly recommended.

There are several beers and some ciders on tap from all around and all the ipa's I've tried here have been pretty decent. from there you grab your brew and have a seat at high top tables within the tap room. Again, the setting is mid-sized good for a couple groups of four and a few two person tables. Music is at a decent volume and is lit dimly making it decent for a date spot or just a place to have conversation without raised voices. Fridges line the tap room so you can mix and match beers, ciders and wines to take out which is cool. I like Bottleworks, I want to enjoy it more, but there are some issues holding me to 3 stars. The staff are...alright. Not bad, but I feel could be a little friendlier. Also they don't allow sample pours? This is a common thing at most breweries, but maybe it's because this is a tap room, but beers run a bit higher here - $8-9 a pour so that's annoying that you can't even try a couple. Lastly, they rotate things out it seems weekly. Some of the more popular options I suppose they keep but seems like a lot of turn around on the drinks so if you like something they have on tap, don't get too attached. Perhaps on subsequent visits It will improve, and I can boost the score here, but besides the decent beers and setting, it's just OK here.

It's smaller than I imagined it to be but every beer inside, from the draft list to the cans and the bottles are carefully curated by the staff. We grabbed a quick beer (Hill Farmstead, which is the first time I've seen this brewery for sale in the since I started this trip 6 weeks ago and Ive been through 4 states) Then we shopped for some cans, we quickly had to refrain from buying too much as the refrigerator in our van only holds so much. We ended up with a six pack and then grabbed a mystery 4 pack on the way out (mystery 4 pack was stellar). While we're shopping they opened a sour from Jester King and shared it with us. I honestly wish I lived a bit closer (Las Vegas is kinda far) because I'd be here everyday... Honestly, they have a whole cooler just for barley wine! The staff are very knowledgeable about beer and are very hospitable. Thanks for a great experience!

It's been a while since I was at Human People Beer and I am just getting around to writing a review…read morefor it now. There isn't any good reason for it other than back log of reviews and I like to mix up my outings a bit and so the order I post reviews isn't always strictly chronological. Steve's and my experience with Human People Beer has been great! We have had their beer a few different times and we were always very highly impressed and I rated the ones I have had very highly on Untappd. Human People Beer also has a cafe where they serve food. I haven't had a significantly large meal here but the snack I had was fantastic. I will cover the beers first before proceeding to the food as I am a total beer nerd. One beer we had and loved was Neighbors. This is a Kolsch style beer and a great one! I found it very refreshing a great one to drink! Things to detect and have fun with in the flavor profile are maltiness, citrus, a great crispness and a clean finish. The mouthfeel with this one is very nice. Easily a favorite! The next beer I had was the Magick. This was a Hazy Pale Ale. I liked this one too. Perhaps not one I would classify as a favorite but a good one all the same. In the flavor look for elements of grapefruit, hoppiness, citrus and other fruitiness. It's an easy drinking beer where you could easily have more than one. Another beer that became an instant favorite for me was the Heavy Connection. This beer is a Brown Ale. I do enjoy getting this beer typed from time to time and this one proved to be a great return in having this beer again! With this beer look for flavors of coffee, maltiness, hazelnut and a breadiness. This beer is on the richer side but it is so, so good! The other beer that we have had... also a favorite( I am easily going to have lots of favorites here) was the Piknik Pilsner. I do love pilsners and it's so, so great having a really well made one. And this one definitely excels at being a good one! In the flavor profile it is roasty, bitter and crisp. The beer is aromatic and smooth. Another good one! And now onto the food. As I said I only had one item off of the food menu and feel like it was more on the snacky end of things but it was so, so good which really pushes my star rating hard in five star territory. I had Tahini Toast. It's something you don't see often and I haven't had it often but on occasions that I did I really liked it! With Human People you and this particular toast you get tahini, peanut butter, wildflower honey along with fresh fruit. It was so good that I fell in love with it madly! I feel like Human People Beer puts out a strong quality product in their food and drink and I look forward to more dining and drinking excursions with them!

I've been following Lisa @bamepopup on Instagram for so long -- I was enticed by she way she makes everything from scratch and the food did not disappoint! I ordered the Banh Canh, Banh Uot, and Che Chuoi for dessert. The Banh Canh was the perfect balance of savory, spicy, and homey -- think spicy udon noodle soup with homemade noodles and a perfectly simmered broth. The Banh Uot was satisfying and refreshing -- imagine thin rice cakes with fresh herbs, cucumbers, and a savory meat filling. The Che Chuoi was the perfect dessert. Slightly sweet, salty, and savory with a coconut and nutty topping. Although the vibe is pretty fast casual, I loved watching Lisa check in and connect with other guests while we dined. Originally opened in 1934, the Blue Moon carries the kind of atmosphere you cannot recreate -- walls covered in decades of music, art, stickers, photographs, and stories. A dimly lit room packed with musicians, writers, artists, and people who genuinely appreciate creativity in its raw form. Throughout the night, the stage moved between live music, poetry, and performances from local artists while the crowd filled the tavern from the bar to the stage floor. Places like this remind me why independent art still matters. As an author traveling all over the United States -- and as someone who lived in the Seattle area for 2 1/2 years -- standing on that stage reading poetry from Purple Rose in a venue with this much history behind it was really something special. What I loved most was how welcoming the environment was. This is a very LGBTQ-friendly, art-friendly space where people genuinely support one another. If you are brand new to open mics or nervous about sharing your work for the first time, this is the kind of place where you will absolutely be shown kindness and encouragement. There were so many talented musicians, poets, and performers there, and you could really feel the appreciation for creativity throughout the room. The setup of the tavern itself is awesome. The stage and seating area wrap around the bar in almost a U-shape, so you can really choose your own vibe for the night. If you want to stay close to the performances and music, there is a dance floor and table area near the stage. If you want something more relaxed, you can hang back near the bar, have a drink, and still enjoy the atmosphere without being directly in the middle of everything. They also have a full bar, arcade games, board games, books to read, and even a small library on the shelves throughout the tavern. Somewhere inside, you may even find a signed copy of Purple Rose that I left hidden and dedicated to the historic Blue Moon itself. Beautiful evening with wonderful people. I, my wife, and her friend stopped by for New Year's Drinks around 6, and about 6:30 or so, made the mistake of asking Tim Duvall, the clearly drunken before 7:00 PM owner of the establishment, whether outside food can be brought into the bar. This led to his regaling us with an extended and utterly unsolicited history of the bar. He then invited himself to sit with us, halfway into the seat before slurring a "Can I sit down?" to insert himself into our booth. We then moved to another unsolicited conversation, this time about politics. Now, to be clear - I have no doubt that I and a sober Tim Duvall probably agree on most of our politics. This did not stop him from berating me as I agreed with his point, loudly escalating and yelling as I tried to agree with him (again... to be clear, I DIDN'T disagree his political view) until he stood and began yelling that I was kicked out. As I stood to talk on him, he became VERY comfortable with putting his hands on me, grabbing my sweatshirt to move me. I was NOT about to challenge that as a Black man new to Seattle that doesn't know how the police would handle things. I need to be very specific about how quickly this man felt comfortable touching me, grabbing my sweater to "drag" me. This is the step that is WAY over the line. I would genuinely like to recommend this place, as I'm looking for bars that offer sugar cane soda. Drunken ownership- in the early evening in New Year's - that feels comfortable being handsy with Black folk is far too much. AVOID at all costs.

The staff seemed distracted, but they at least did not appear to be cranky or hostile. The karaoke selection was lacking, and as a queer man I was uncomfortable seeing that all David Bowie songs were pointedly crossed out in the books. Reviews had suggested that the Monkey Pub, despite being located in the U District, had a clientele of more than just college students; this may be true on non-karaoke nights, but when I went, it had the same college-kid crowd as anywhere else in the neighborhood. Drink selection was average. Indeed, the bar itself was largely average. I found no evidence of anything particularly dramatically terrible on my visit to the Monkey Pub, but nothing to get excited about either. Only worth it for karaoke if you're desperate. Probably an okay place to get a drink, but I didn't really detect much of the character and "local flavor" that usually makes a good dive bar worth the trip.
