Very chill and relaxed Safeway with a good selection throughout. The self-checkout line can get a little long, but the store makes up for it with a huge bakery section on one end and a large selection of beer, wine, and spirits on the other. I just wanted to leave a review about the Safeway flower department or floral department at the Lincoln location. Darlene helped us and really went above and beyond trying to help us for my son's prom floral arrangement. She was kind, helpful, and very attentive. Great job on this hire @safeway as I think she is the BEST employee you have!! She isn't short or rude just simply nice, caring and very professional and gives you the truth and will tell you how it is! Thank you Darlene for my his special occasion that much better. This Safeway is pretty much the same as all others, sparse for customers and employees. But the store was clean and fully stocked and I was able to get in, find what I was looking for and be on my way in a timely manner. The bakery did a fantastic job on our son's birthday cake! I ordered it online, was able to select custom options for it. Super easy to submit. The only thing was they didn't have the rainbow cake they offered online & substituted vanilla. It was still gorgeous & delicious. Now I understand all the 1 star reviews. I typically shop at a King Soopers close to my home, but I was in Lone Tree and decided to stop here as it was right there. Not being familiar with the store I read the directory sign to try to locate the item I was looking for. It said it was on a particular aisle and I roamed that aisle carefully scanning the shelves looking for it and it wasn't there. So I roamed a few more aisles searching for it. Still no luck. After about 10 minutes of searching I approached a man with an employee badge and asked for assistance. He looked at me with utter apathy. No smile, no greeting, just staring at me as if I'd asked him to fly to Rio De Janeiro to get me a coconut. His whole demeanor was one of "I hate you, I hate Safeway, I hate the world, leave me alone...." Without saying anything he pulled out his little gadget to locate it and then he finally spoke and said "It's on aisle such and such." I said "No Sir, I searched that aisle multiple times and it's not there." He then replied, "Well, that's what this says." Then he simply turned his back on me and walked away. I was utterly floored! Never in my life have I encountered such a lack of customer service. I have a whole new sense of gratitude and appreciation for King Soopers. At least most of their employees have been friendly and helpful. This place is a joke. Zero stars is what this Safeway store deserves! read more

I don't go to this Safeway often. I went today because I was craving agua fresca, and Safeway has 2 lbs of watermelon chunks for $7. I ended up with cantaloupe chunks, too. Limes were 99 cents each. Smh. The prices on some things seem higher than King Soopers. Or Sprouts. I did get a cauliflower-crust pizza on sale. Delicious! This is a large, clean store. The liquor department is convenient. Prices are fair. Sale prices are good. I wouldn't shop here regularly, but I did get a bottle of Apothic Rosé for $10. During the lockdown, when there was no Kleenex ANYWHERE, I found some on Safeway's website with store pickup. I ordered 8 boxes (I have allergies). The morning that I was supposed to pick them up, the store manager called and said that they didn't have them. I do appreciate the call. He didn't know when they would have any in stock. Finally was able to order a case of 18 boxes from Costco. Had to use my "wedding and funeral" handkerchiefs until then. Only one register was manned, but the line wasn't too bad and the cashier was efficient, if not particularly friendly. I don't like self-checkout. It takes jobs away from people. Four stars for cleanliness and selection, although it's three stars for prices and lack of cashiers. I know that hiring is difficult. Also, the layout is weird. Sauerkraut should have been with the hot dogs/lunch meats, but it was on the other side of the store near the butter. Annoying and strange placement. read more

I'm a longtime Safeway customer and I've shopped at many of the Safeway stores in Denver metro, the foothills, and the mountains, and I will have to say that the Lone Tree Safeway consistently offers the most unpleasant shopping experience. While there's nothing exceptional about this store, the produce department stands out as underwhelmingly abysmal. The selection is average at best, but the staff is absolutely awful. They are rude, indifferent, and borderline hostile - there's one employee who's so tightly wound he seems ready to snap if a customer spends too much time deciding which item to select. Other reviewers for Safeway have noted that this is consistent with the corporate culture. I have to believe part of it is due to an attitude that developed during Covid, how retail employees were considered rock stars and customers could be freely abused with no consequences. It will be interesting to see how many Safeway employees keep their jobs once the merger with Kroeger is completed. read more

I was taking my time shopping and I dont know what the manager thought I was doing because she kept on having other employees come over to me, she kept coming over to me. I dont think there was a solid 3 minutes I was left alone to shop. When I finally checked out, I saw that same manager was threating to write up some of the young employees for doing their jobs? I had a disappointing experience at the Lone Tree, CO store. I went to the Deli department to pick up some sliced sandwich meat. The lights were on in the deli and it was supposed to be open--it was about 5:20 on a May 31, 2025, a Saturday night. While I was there, an employee was moving around in the back, so I waited patiently while she finished what she was doing. After more than 5 minutes, she made eye contact with me, and then ducked down beneath the counter. A little bizarre right? I stood there a few more minutes thinking that she was doing work, but what she was doing was putting on headphones and getting ready to leave. She then tried to leave without acknowledging me, but I got her attention. She said she was going on break, and that someone would be down in a few minutes. Okay, that sounds reasonable. I understand that people are due their breaks, and their lunches, and the opportunity to go to the bathroom. I once again waited, and no one came. I then went to the customer service desk if the deli was open--remember the lights are on, the deli looks like its supposed to be open, there was an employee staffing it just a few moments ago. However, the person at customer service told me there would be no employee in the deli for 30 minutes. I complained about her behavior--the ducking down beneath the counter and all that. It was very unprofessional of her to ignore me, to lie to me about someone to on their way to attend to me, and to keep the lights on in the deli when no one was serving. If you have to shut the deli and you don't have enough staff, then put out a sign, but don't treat customers disrespectfully. I completely understand that the store may be short staffed and I absolutely believe that she is deserving of her break, but her treatment of me was dishonest and uncalled for and it demonstrates that she has contempt for customers. Believe it or not, customers are not the problem as to why she isn't getting her break, that has to do with her manager. Anyway, I'm not going to return to this store--there are many other choices within a half mile--Target, Sprouts, King Soopers and Whole Foods. In fact, since I came for just deli meat and given I was going to have a 30 minute wait--I just went elsewhere. read more

Been shopping here for 12 years and it is a good store. Had very few instances where service wasn't good and the ones I did have I chalk up to someone just having a bad day, which happens to all of us! I have to admit I don't get the one star reviews and the severe complaints. I don't know how many of these reviewers have ever run a business. It's hard, and I believe that the employees at this location try and do a good job for their customers. I also think we need to give others some grace when we are being so critical. We don't know what they have going on at the moment and people are complaining about a loaf of bread or some other rather trivial matter for goodness sake. I usually stop into Sprouts or King Soopers but since Safeway is so close decided to give it a try. The employees here are pretty aloof..my cashier was aggressively tossing my vegetables down the line to the women who was bagging. No one seemed friendly, I was pretty much ignored because employees were too busy chatting with each other, and the energy here is just uncomfortable...like everyone really hates their job. This is my local Safeway in lone tree and the one I frequent most often. The employees here are generally friendly. The store is always under stocked on basic products, and the produce department is depressing. Most of the produce is wilted, rotting, bruised, and beaten up. I often sift through trying to find a decent one or two and come up short. The bakery makes up a little for the produce however, and always has good stuff! It makes it more worth your while if you use the Safeway app to clip the coupons, rewards etc. I definitely save a lot of money that way, which keeps us coming back. read more

I ordered 12 Kombuchi drinks from Safeway with delivery by Door Dash. About an hour before delivery amn email told me I was receiving 1 with the delivery more than the item. I called Door Dash twice insuring the item was cancelled. Since the delivery was enroute so they said the delivery person will return to store & I would be credited. Today the store manager David told me it was between me & Door Dash and call them. I reminded him that the store should be interested in how it's product is represented and delivered. He was unwilling to give me a refund unless I came to the store of $12.40. He was talking over me, not directly saying I would be refunded and considered my issue a "fight" with him. They took my son's birthday cake order and confirmed with me numerous times over the phone that they had the right design and knew which one I was referring to. I gave them the code number, the name of the picture from their book, and describe in detail what it looked like. Fast forward to me picking it up, I got a completely different cake! The design wasnt even close to what I ordered. What made it worst was that no one called me to tell me they couldn't do it or I would have ordered my back up design. The manager was nice enough to give the cake to me for free so kudos to her. When we cut into the cake there was no filling! That was so infuriating. Store is close, so by default its the quick stop when I need something fast. Generally the store is clean and they have what I need. No real complaints. They also have a decent sized liquor department - I don't drink anymore, but nice to see. My biggest gripe with this store is customer service or lack thereof. I was there today and while standing in line there were two "three is a crowd" announcements, which means someone should open another register. No one ever came. Then there was a name and name, please come to the front immediately - which I assumed was to open additional registers - and no one came. The store was packed and had 3 registers open and self-checkout. Most shoppers had way too much for self checkout. There were only two people in front of me, but with full carts. The cashier was doing everything possible to go slow. I stood there for little over 12 minutes to have two people check out in front of me. Sigh. A few weeks back I cut my finger on one of their shopping baskets and it started bleeding. Walked up to customer service to see if they had a first aid kit. Two people had no clue, a third found a kit under the desk that had maybe a handful of bandages in it (small ones) and nothing else. Reluctantly the person gave me a small bandaid. Although I mentioned how I cut my finger (a metal type corner on the basket) and I was bleeding, at no time did the person show any care, or even apologized and asked if they could do something. I got my finger washed with soap in the bathroom, then rushed home and took care of it there. I get it, its a sucky job but a little service and a smile goes a long way. Perhaps less people would be crabby to you if you gave them a minimum of service and showed you cared. Oh and I frigging hate these store employees who run you over with their huge carts, shopping for home delivery or pick up. I've tried Safeway home delivery a few times, and each time a handful of items were incorrect or less than stellar. I prefer to pick up my own stuff from now on to insure quality. This review is for the Starbucks only. Ordered three drinks totaling $17. Used my preloaded Starbucks gold card for payment which had an available funds balance of $24 from the prior day. The barista rang the order, I swiped my card, and then she said I still owed $10. I explained that I should have a positive remaining of $7. The store manager was called over. They did some voiding and got the Starbucks card to a zero balance. I tried explaining to the manager that the original order was rung twice and that I should still have a balance of $7, but to no avail. Apparently my math wasn't working for them. The manager told me to call the Starbucks 800 number. I have been a Safeway loyalist for decades. Not anymore. Poor customer service. read more

Since Safeway's new ownership has taken over the selection in their produce has become a lot better. They offer a good selection of organic fruits and vegetables. The store layout it pretty decent. The overall selection across the store is good. We just moved to Lone Tree and were bummed that there was only a Safeway near by. I have shopped at this Safeway for several years but I can no longer recommend it and have switched to King Soopers. Terrible customer service. They don't even try to make your shopping experience pleasant. Most of the employees seem miserable, bitter, and very unhappy. The atmosphere is very heavy and depressing. There is usually only one actual checker and I usually have to wait in line to check out. When you try to chat or make small talk with anyone there is absolutely no response. Where is the manager asking if I have found everything I need? They all seem so unhappy. Rarely do they have someone to bag my groceries and I usually had to bag my own. There was actually a checker who refused to help bag and instead looked at his phone while other people waited in line. Another time the checker seemed quite angry about my large order and having to help me bag. Still another time the checker saw me coming with a full cart and quickly turned off his light and walked away. The prices are also generally higher than King Soopers and you will pay a steep Lone Tree sales tax. The store is also in need of an update. Very dingy. Lighting seems dark and shelves are dirty and half empty. It's just not a happy place. Bye Bye. So Long. Farewell. read more

I was there today at this Safeway--it's not the usual Safeway stores we go to. But I was really impressed with the store cleanliness and selection. The produce and meat were really well-presented, for starters. We needed supplies for a barbecue and found everything we needed. The Safeway app came in handy here too. We had a terrible experience there today, on Thanksgiving, of all days. We were going to get some sundry items before Thanksgiving and had an unpleasant run-in with a quite rude store employee. We were scanning items at the self-checkout. When I put an item with its bar code directly over the scanner nothing happened. I lifted it and it scanned OK, making that beeping sound for each item we put in our bag on the right. At some point an error message, like a huge dialog box, came up as I scanned. I made sure the item was scanned correctly and continued. At the end the error message was still up (or a new one came up?) and as we were checking what happened, a store employee, Jane, came over. She was very rude and implied that we were trying to steal items from the store. She cancelled the transaction and then checked us out manually, never smiling. attn: Store manager Kelly Gray, receipt says our cashier was Jane TL;DR -- We had a problem in the scanning process and ended up feeling as if we were accosted by a policeman accusing us of trying to steal items. read more

Their prices are higher than their competition; their produce is often old but nicely displayed. They are frequently sold out of their specials and coupon specials on the first day of the sale. That gets them a 2.5. But what compels the one star and this review is my experience today with their pharmacy. I made an appointment for a vaccination after filling out exhaustive information including my mobile phone and email. I arrived on time only to be told they were sold out of the vaccine. When I expressed my anger that they hadn't bothered to phone, text or email me so I would have avoided the twenty-minute each way drive, guess what they said; Sorry for the inconvenience! read more

The one star review isn't for the store itself. If I were to review the store it would be 4 stars. Losing 1 star for having bad chicken replaced a few time to the point we now only buy chicken from sprouts across the street. Otherwise the store is clean, well stocked, organized and has a good selection. The pharmacy however is HORRIBLE! Every time we have been there they have been awful. Mostly the issue is that they are really SLOW. But they also have very bad customer service and untrained staff. Our VERY LAST visit started with one person helping at the register that randomly left in the middle of the transaction because it was quitting time! The remodel that was done a couple years ago really transformed this location - Safeway's new look is nice and refreshing. However, Safeway thinks it can over charge for every item and I refuse to pay more than 5 dollars for a few cups of cheese. There's some comedian who has a bit about evil grocery store owners. I'll butcher the joke here, but it's something along the lines of, "Let's wait until everyone knows where everything is and then rearrange things in an illogical order!" Just when I could get in and out of Safeway in 5 minutes because I knew where everything was, they go and change it. They added some new aisles in the middle that are shorter and have some cool lighting, but they didn't do it for all the aisles. Instead, they just made things confusing. Why can't I find panko with the Asian stuff? Why isn't "shaving stuff" all together? There are two totally separate areas for "men's shaving" and "women's shaving". It's all the same crap. ARGH! When Sprouts opened across the street a couple years ago, I started going there for most of my grocery items. However, I still like ACTUAL toothpaste and ACTUAL deodorant, so I go to Safeway to get my chemical-ridden items that I love. Their prices are good and it's got a liquor store next door, so I keep coming back for more. I just wish they had never "upgraded" the interior design. read more

I shop here for the convenience, it's across the street from where we live, and for the organic produce selection. They have a good amount of fruit and veggie offerings in this category as where other Safeway stores don't. The cashiers and customer service are/is some of the worst I have seen at a Safeway. During the weekday when it's slow there is typically one check stand open with the same unfriendly checker who never seems to recognize regulars. I typically have to greet the cashier before I am greeted. And when my credit card swipe didn't work in the machine on a visit, I was given the 3rd degree as to why the swipe didn't work and asked if I had a new card on the way. She said "how do I know you are the person on this card". So I showed her my ID and then listened to her tell me what a favor she would do me by typing my card number in to the machine. Another male checker seems to be annoyed while checking you out, and again does not greet me until I say hello. He was very friendly on my last visit though and handed me a survey... So I hope that this means the store is working to improve these issues. read more

As far as Safeway's go, I give it a four. We had a slight glitch that we noticed after check out...actually, we noticed we had been overcharged $25.00 while we were on the highway...following a Dukes of Hazard 180, the wife ran inside and was out in less than 10 minutes. Score. I have been reluctant to order seafood from any Safeway or similar grocery stores but, here was different. Very clean, meat and seafood actually seemed to look, "fresh" and the gentleman behind the counter was awesome. I would probably make the 30 minute (or 55 minutes on this particular day) drive just to by recently frozen "fresh" seafood from here any day.
