We shop here a lot when in Denver and they have a great selection of must have essentials. The bakery is very good and go fast. Good value for the price and highly recommended. read more

Will not be back, ignorant staff stocking shelves are rude and uninterested in the people who are buying the products that keep them employed. Whole foods is darn expensive, but their staff actually say hello, excuse me, can I help you ... have a good day .....and they don't try to run you over. Aisles are confusing, shouldn't popcorn be on the chips aisle?... why are the aisles seemingly 3 feet wide? Also... you never see a manager walking the aisles, interacting with customers... I have given 3 safeways a chance in my neighborhood, but i'll go anywhere but them from now on. read more

Habitually frustrating. Safeway, your customers are regularly confused about where the line for the self-check out lanes begin. And consequently customers inadvertently cut one another off. You can watch the frustration on customer's faces, as a line of nine people waiting down aisle 12 are cut off my a two person line forming down aisle 11. Where does the line begin? Down aisle 12, or aisle 13? Does it feed north, or feed south? And why supply comment cards, if they are just to be ignored? I'll drive to another grocery store to avoid the frustration. read more

Someone on here said this location is "habitually frustrating" and she is totally right. Let's talk about it: 1. Basic products are habitually out of stock 2. Products are moved around to odd locations in the "neighborhood" of dissimilar products making things very difficult to find 3. Refer to #1 4. I asked staff for an item and they had absolutely no idea what I was talking about.... I was asking for "mulling spices to make mulled wine". They all looked at me like I was from outer-space. 5. Empty top shelves are actually full but product is pushed so far behind that you have to be Inspector Gadget (go-go-Gadget arms) to reach things. I've left my basket of items after trying to pull myself through the frustration a few times just to drive to the Fresh Market where the standards are much higher. read more

This Safeway is always clean and well organized. I usually only hit this one up on the the way to a back yard grill-out. Prices can usually be beaten by King Soopers, but sometimes the convenience factor trumps saving a few shekels. Traffic during rush hour can be a painful waste of time, so try using the entrance on Evans, not Downing. read more

Safeway pharmacy is the most disorganized business in place in Southeast Denver. If you can go to ANY other pharmacy, do it. I've gone there 3 days in a row asking for my RX which was sent to them 8 days ago. Each day they say that they ordered it and it will be in at 3! Please shut this pharmacy down. It's worthless. read more

Safeway is always a safe bet. It's not my favorite, but it's better than King Soopers and is convenient because you can find one in most neighborhoods of Denver. Good produce is important to me as a consumer and I can appreciate the quality of Safeways fruits. They also have a decent meat selection as well as an array of quality cheeses. I'm not too enthused about this location because they are commonly out of stock of common items. read more

It is remarkable that at this stage of the pandemic...Safeway seems to be flaunting the safety guidelines in this store. Oct 29th at 2:30 I visited the store and found at least 2 people with noses exposed and one with mask around the neck. The remarkable part of this story is that these were all Safeway workers. All the customers were wearing their masks correctly. I asked for a Store manager and she appeared after a bit of a wait. . She was apologetic and then goes to the closest employee with a mask below her nose (employee in the vegetaboe section). They talk a bit and the employee puts her mask up to cover her nose. As the manager walks off the employee immediately lowers the mask. Shame on Safeway for endangering your customers and for disregard for public safety. If this is a political statement on Safeway's part then the decent thing to do is to warn your customers. Aside from violating ordinances relating to masks, it is not the place or the type of store, to protest face masks in this manner. For all reading this (if any) beware of the Safeway you shop in. This is totally unacceptable and either corporate knows and condones this political statement by their employees, or they simply cannot control THEIR EMPLOYEES. read more

I took my Dad to this Safeway to get his COVID shot and we had t wait 40 minutes! Their were only about 5 other people ahead of us! How many people does it take to give a person one little shot. I wouldn't recommend this pharmacy to anyone if you are trying to get your COVID vaccine. These people are wasting your time. read more

The worst pharmacy service I had. I went there to pick up medicine but they did not have it in stock.

Safeway, what happened to you? This *was* our local store for more than 15 yrs, located right down the street, but after recent renovations we are looking for somewhere different. Not opposed to change whatsoever, but seems like they have somehow shrunk their product offerings, and often are out of basics (fresh ginger, crushed tomatoes ... the list goes on). read more

I am so glad to live only a few blocks from this safeway. It's in a prime location, is always clean and tidy, and the staff is great. They never get in your way with stocking items or carts of things, and if they do, they apologize. The service at the deli and meat counters are always quick and friendly, and the cashiers are super nice, talkative and have been more than willing to help with any questions or comments that come up. read more

This is the closest store to home so I mostly go there for the convenience. The staff is friendly especially the check out staff and they really do try to be as helpful as possible. I also like that there is a Wells Fargo branch -open until 7pm- located right inside the store - a huge plus. They recently remodeled in the past year so sometimes items are hard to find now - particularly toiletries or medicine as the layout is confusing in those aisles. There are new baskets - nice and clean- which is also a plus. read more

Of the options nearby me, this is the best general supermarket for all the basic items I don't want to spend hundreds of dollars on at Whole Foods. The aisles are big and well-organized, the parking lot has lots of space for parking, and the vegetables, fruit, and meat are generally pretty decent. I do have some issues with the lack of Kosher or Passover options available though. It is definitely one of the least stocked stores for this in the whole Denver area. I was actually pretty insulted by the one teeny little display when there was about 4 rows of Easter stuff and this holiday has very specific food requirements. Also, the flower section here always seems to have dying flowers on display. I've not once seen a bunch that was healthy enough for purchase. read more

This store is under construction. I had to leave (7am so I can only imagine how shitty it is when it's a normal hour) halfway through my shopping because NOTHING is in the right place. The isles are missing, as is the floor. Do yourself a favor and go to soopers. They at least have the decency to let customers know when they are walking into construction sites. read more

They have a whole sub-aisle of gluten free fare! I have yet to find another Denver Safeway that has such a great selection of gluten free goods - their gluten free shells and cheese is better than Kraft. Seriously. And their gluten free shortbread is seriously addictive! read more

This is the closest "affordable" grocery store to me that isn't Whole Foods. I go here all the time and often bump into some unkind employees at check out. There is one man that is always kind and helpful but most of the check out people have been downright awful. I accidentally left my card in my car one night and was extremely apologetic. I asked the clerk to please suspend my transaction and she rolled her eyes and told me to "run". It was the most blatantly rude experience I've ever had with any customer service employee in my life! Some of the other employees make up for this time but I often find myself ending up in her line. It was so rude it's almost funny. I can't complain about the rest of the experience, it's your run of the mill grocery store. read more

I absolutely hate this store. I just moved to Denver a few months back and within 2 blocks of this store which I thought would be convenient but it turned out to work the opposite. I will now drive out of my way not to go here. On multiple occasions when I needed help the employees were either rude, rude and ignorant, or just completely passive. The saddest part is it always seems to be the managers "helping". I wish this place would shut down and King Soopers would take over. On top of my main reasons not to go the variety and pricing is simply ridiculous. Do yourself a favor and if you need groceries stay clear of Safeway. read more

Very clean, and very large Safeway in a great neighborhood. Big selection of fresh pastas/sides in the deli section, and friendly service!

The best Safeway in America !! Produce is lovingly displayed, fresh and attractive. Meat is as well, and the selection is terrific. The pharmacy is tops , and Russ always takes time to answer my questions. Dairy is full with a perfect selection nondairy items. We love the bakery, breads and rolls. Try the wheat French bread. The deli is well staffed, friendly and fast, little or no waiting here. Ron and the other managers will always go out of their way to help out, answer questions , find an item whatever. And , the store is clean and well lit!! A true asset to this neighbor hood ....! read more

Perfectly acceptable Safeway. I am here a lot. Buying stuff. It is a decent grocery store, slightly limited in selection, the meats are big factory style. The checkers are great. I usually can get what I need for a good price. read more

This store only has "all natural" products for the most part nothing organic.. The staff could care less about their jobs. They are out of stock on their items most of the time. In regards to grocery stores Safeway is a solid choice but the thing that will set apart from other grocery stores is the level of custoemr service. This store has a good meat department and the custoemr service is good and they will always try to accomodate if they do not have the specific things I want. The only problem is the staffing of the check out lines. There are enough checkers but usually not enough baggers so you might have to do it yourself. read more

Just drove 25 minutes to Safeway because google said they'd be open until 1 every day and they close at 12. That's pretty annoying..

Avoid this Safeway if you can. I feel sorry for the folks at the deli as they are obviously over worked, however, they are becoming increasingly dismissive of customers. Not only do you wait for a while for them to notice, but when they do notice you, it's really inconvenient for them to help you with anything. Don't ask them to try and ring you up at the deli register, that has become mainly ornamental as nobody ever has the right card, or its someone elses drawer ... when really they just want you to leave and would rather not deal with you. Those aisles are not regulation size. If they would take those dumb stands out of the aisles you might have a chance at getting 2 carts through there, but as it is you just have to leave your cart at the end of the aisles and walk down to get your things. 7:00 pm seems like a reasonable time that most people shop at a grocery store. However, at this store its time to close up shop. They close the South entrance at 7:00 pm ! Meaning, if you get to this store at 6:55 pm and park in the wrong parking lot, you have to lug your groceries about 75 yards across the parking lot. Apparently Starbucks closing means that they have to close the South doors, (I asked) due to a safety concern. Is Starbucks doubling as your security? There is a large wooden gate at the South entrance that would be perfect for bikers or walkers to access this store, freeing up parking spaces and encouraging an active lifestyle. I've lived around this store for 8 years and it has never been opened. Not for weekends, not for holidays, Not Once! It would be fantastic if they would open that gate and put a bike rack over there. But currently that is reserved for store managers and employees to take breaks and smoke. Are you the type of person that tries to avoid using plastic bags? It would be great to not get hassled by the automated checkout for placing my bags on the loading platform while i'm loading up my groceries. As is stands the whole system shuts down and someone has to come over and make sure i'm not stealing! There are some places that actually give a credit for not using bags. Don't expect this type of thinking from your neighborhood safeway. This place has turned into my last resort for grocery shopping. It has to be something that I need immediately that is not offered at a convenience store because the service, layout, and general lack of customer service. read more

As far as grocery stores go, this one is perfectly average. The prices are a little high, so you'll want to check out the circular and get coupons to make it more affordable, and make sure to get a loyalty card. I frequent this Safeway for two reasons: 1. It is near the DU campus so there are always extremely attractive co-eds shopping there. 2. Their meat prices are lower than any other grocery store in my neighborhood. I think my desire to save a few bucks on meat finally caught up with me. About a week ago, I saw a great deal on pork chops in the 'discounted meats' section. Having spent my high school years working for a butcher I know that the meat 'priced to sell' is still good but it is no more than a day away from hitting the trash can (or being 'marinated in BBQ sauce and stuck on little wooden sticks in an effort to hide the condition of the meat from the consumer). I got those chops home, opened them up, and could tell by smell and texture that they were bad. I rinsed off the slime, threw on some dry rub, and put them in the oven. Before they were done I had already convinced myself not to feed them to my kids. Even cooked I could tell they were sketchy. Luckily I had a quick back-up dinner plan. Today I was working from home so I decided to cook myself a hearty lunch. Back to Safeway I went and once again I saw reasonably priced pork chops. These ones weren't in the 'please buy these before we trash them' section, in fact the sell by date was days away. A pork chop and some steamed spinach sounded like a perfect lunch so I grabbed the chops and headed home. Again, when I opened the package I could tell that the pork chops were sketchy. They weren't as bad as the ones from last week so I decided to trust Safeway and baked four chops (one for lunch and extras for whenever). I ate half of one pork chop before my survival instinct kicked in and told me to stop. After a brief pause in the action my stomach decided that what just got put into it did not belong there. In fact, my stomach spent the better part of 3 hours making me stay within quick walking distance of my toilet so that it could periodically remind me why I shouldn't have eaten that pork chop. I'll still frequent the place because it is very close to me, the co-eds are still there, and I trust that the bottles of vitamin water and salad dressing I buy from them wont give me diarrhea. But I am done buying meat from them. Their meat prices are significantly lower than other area markets; now I know why. And just a reminder, I worked for multiple years behind the counter at a butcher shop. I learned the proper cooking technique for any piece of flesh you can buy legally. I walked countless people through the process of cooking pork chops that were both juicy and cooked to proper doneness. This was not a case of an inept cook feeding himself undercooked pork. read more

I want to give a huge shout out to mindy, who works in the deli department! I procrastinated ordering the thanksgiving meal for my company party until the day before thanksgiving....needless to say, no store or restaurant had ANYTHING available for the amount of people I was tasked to feed....AARRRGGHHH!!!! Anyway, explained my situation to mindy over the phone who told me that her store was also out of the heat and serve thanksgiving meals, but to come in and she would help me. So, I drove across town and when I arrived, mindy took the time to listen to my needs and prepared the whole thanksgiving feast for me, running around the store grabbing some of this and a little of that....cutting turkey breast just right, and making sure I had all the fixings' too. It was perfect! It's great to come across employees who really seem to enjoy their jobs and care for the customers. She saved the day! Thanks mindy! read more

Absolutely horrible service. Went to get a money order, oh they shorted me $100 and had to call twice before someone actually offered to audit the drawer to find my money. Waiting to get service at the Service Counter, it's later in the evening so the staff is light but instead of calling for help, I was simply told "it's going to be a while," only after waiting and there for 10 minutes before anyone offered any help, which the help was "it's going to be a while." The second to last time I was there, just as I had my full cart to go through checkout they announced they were only taking cash. How very lovely and convenient. There just seems to be very little effort by staff to help their customers. I've had to, on multiple instances, go out of my way and waste my energy and my time to get basic customer service in this place. I'm usually a pretty patient and understanding person but this grocery store is so obnoxious that it is worth the time to write these grievances. read more

Gloria in the meats department needs to be fired. Period. I would never want to upend someone's livelihood but I've worked in customer service for over a decade and the way she treated me just moments ago was absolutely appalling. I had been looking for the sliced meat that they did not have on the floor apparently for 15 minutes when I approach the deli counter and ask the woman numerous times, knowing she could hear me, simply where the deli meats were. So after she ignored me for a good two minutes I walked up to the nice young man who was working the self checkout registers. He told me that I should go to the deli and that she would help me. Instead, I walked up and saw her messing with some utensils near the dishwasher and I again ask, " excuse me mam, but you wouldn't happen to know where I could get some packaged or sliced deli meat would you?" She, in an almost livid tone, giving me a look like I had done something terrible to her a second before, passionately said "I'm closed!" I then said to her that I just wanted to know where I could get meat because I have been looking for almost 20 minutes at this point because I needed to get home.. so finally I said, " can you please listen to me? I really need help and I'm just trying to get home.' That's when she turned irate and said I'm closed I can't help you!" So I asked her, what's your name? She ignored me. I made sure she heard the second time and she answered in a very rude tone, it's Gloria. At this point I return to the young man at the self checkout line and said to him that I needed to speak to a manager right away. The manager didn't show up for 10 minutes and the young man told me that she had been fired twice before for similar things. Again, I'm not trying to get people fired, but if you're going to base your company's integrity on its employees and pride itself on its customer service, this sad woman who can't seem to leave her private life or whatever at home is affecting her so negatively that she has to be terrible to others while at work, I'd rethink your strategy with this one. Oh, and maybe a manager being around would be nice. read more
