They sell so many Asian snacks and goodies! Love the fresh fish. Wish I could come here every day!

Still the best (and probably only) Japanese market in Denver. I love it here! Just adding an update for any other kanaka transplants - I haven't seen poi here in a hot minute and other than mochi crunch and Redondo's Portuguese Sausage, I've been seeing less and less Hawaiian options

Although previously researched on the history of this oldest continuously operating Asian supermarket in Denver (probably also in Colorado or even the United States), seems like never have an in-depth walk through of our very own Pacific Mercantile Company. It has been a staple in the Denver for more than 100 years (if counting the years under N. Tatsukawa) . Besides groceries, the store also is a bazaar of Japanese tableware, cutlery, stationary, decoration and much more. Most groceries are competitively priced compared to larger Asian supermarkets in town. You can also find varieties of affordable fresh sashimi at the fish counter, including sea urchins. But what makes this place unique is its distinctive Japanese mom and pop grocery store feel throughout the years, carrying the legacy from generation to generation. The address is 1925 Lawrence St, Denver.

This market is seriously my happy place. It's been way too long since my last visit I sure do miss living down the street sometimes. I picked up some tuna & hamachi sashimi - the quality is always stellar and the cuts are fairly priced. Stocked up on some other essentials like soup base, udon noodles and yakimochi. I love their selection of snacks, treats and drinks as well - they always have something new and worth trying. Check this spot out!!! They have something for everyone.

Since I was already at Sakura Square, I decided to walk over to check out this store. This store is chock full of just about anything and everything you'd need or want! In Los Angeles, I frequent Asian grocery stores and this one is stocked comparable to those stores! They sell lots of fresh produce & fish. You can find snacks like chips, cookies, mochi & ice cream. They carry a wide variety of drinks like the Hawaiian sodas, Ramune, Calpico, Coffees, & Teas. Need dishes, clay pots, a rice cooker or any other small appliance? You can buy those here. TIP: Bring your own reusable bags or purchase them. CO charges for bags. If you don't want to buy a bag or two, you can ask for a free box! ( https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/pacific-mercantile-company-denver-2?select=qnvV_MQVFsVHVnPsGqpfiQ ) Backstory: George Inai came to America at the age of 18. He lived in Sacramento, CA. George and his family were sent to an internment camp. After WWII, when he heard that Gov. Carr was welcoming Japanese-Americans to CO, he moved his family here. The first store he opened was on Larimer Street. This store relocated to Sakura Square in 1972. 75+ years later, the store is owned and run by the 3rd & 4th generation of his family. It began as just a Japanese market, but now you will find Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Hawaiian goods. That red circle window in front represents the red circle on the Japanese flag. I spent a long time checking out all the goodies here. If you are in need of a specific Asian item or ingredient, you will probably be able to find it here. If they don't have it, you can ask them and they'll try to get it for you. What a nice store with great service!

I enjoyed browsing this store immensely. It's clean, well stocked and has all kinds of different things to browse. They have an incredible fresh seafood counter with dozens of choices. The staff was pleasant and it's located in Sakura Square in downtown Denver. The parking kind of sucks because of the downtown location but it's manageable. The prices were reasonable and it really was pleasant to just be there and looking around.

If you are in need of Asian goodies and live downtown, Pacific Mercantile is the place to be. They have a supermarket where you can buy fresh roe/masyado, shrimp, etc. It's not just Japanese goodies that you can find there; there's also items you need if you need to whip up any Asian recipe or craving you have. It's pricey but there's not a lot of Asian stores in Colorado so totally understand. Unless of course you want to make the drive to H-mart or out in Aurora, CO.

I go here for their fantastic candy and snack selection. They have everything even the hard to find stuff like melon pan, roll cake, black thunder, poppin cooking kits, melty kiss, every drink you've ever seen or heard of, Japanese cheesecake, ice cream. These things come at a PREMIUM price in subscription boxes and this store has it all! All this on top of being a full service grocery store with fresh produce and meats, rice, everyday staples. Everything you need to fulfill you eastern culinary dreams. I always wanna buy everything! The staff is great and always makes me feel welcome. Some much to discover every time I come here. This place is fantastic.

The prime rib was for my birthday dinner so my husband left his phone number with them. He received a call later that day asking if the prime rib should be fresh or frozen. They wanted to make sure it did not get frozen if it was being used right away. He advised fresh and commented at what good customer service it was to make the distinction. We went together for pick up. The person who helped us when through the entire smoker bundle to show us the contents and then got the rib roast. Everything was well packaged and arranged. Even though it was the Friday before a religious holiday, and many folks were picking things up, it did not take long for us to get our order, pay and be on our way. The meats we have received both on this order and in the past have always been high quality. Edwards is an excellent butcher shop.
