Lao Market has been around before I moved to Colorado and I've lived in the area for 20+ years. The employees and owners are always friendly, helps you find whatever you need, they have really well stocked shelves and great produce. The pricing sometimes can be a little steeper than big chain but it's expected with a small local mom and pops. I've found some great product here in a pinch and the herbs/spices are well stocked too. Definitely so happy they are in the area, gone through a remodel with their entrance years ago and looks great! read more

Awesome. Great to support a local family too. This store is somewhat hidden but has all the specialty items you may be looking for. Candy. Drinks. Snacks. Fresh and powdered/Paz legged items and spices. They even have fresh meat, produce, fish, and vegetables. Not entirely sure on what routinely kept or what days they receive deliveries but it's a large Asian market vibe in a mini Westminster location. Very glad this place exists. Hidden behind a Starbucks and Enterprise rent a car but no issues finding a parking spot. They have eight or ten directly adjacent but unfortunately square between two speed bumps. That's a city design thing though so no reason to mark the market down for that. Prices seem fair for what you're getting. I'm sure for any specialty items you can speak to staff and have it ordered in. Or they can suggest a similar market that would have your request in stock. read more

Top marks for Lao Market -- A small market tucked away off Federal that is well equipped, has true character and unique offerings. You will not find the variety and low prices on fresh herbs that you will here elsewhere, period. There are herbs that I've never seen even seen before, neatly bagged and priced for a dollar or so. I am Vietnamese-American, and I'm starting to get into the habit of getting my basil, bean sprouts, cilantro, rau ram, and mint at Lao Market, and thanks to their herb variety, may be adding new dishes to my repertoire. It's a personal mission to explore other cultures, poke through small grocery stores (where you can learn so much about other people!), and taste different potato chips of the world. All of these can be accomplished at Lao Market in spades - not to mention the selection of fish snacks, various jellies and canned fruit for desserts, and many other ingredients for your SE Asian cooking needs. As for the chips - We had Lays Mala BBQ, which were great, and next up are Sweet Thai Basil and Seaweed Gochujang. One of my favorite attributes of small Asian markets are the fresh baked/prepared goods available. At Lao Market I HIGHLY suggest you grab a small bag of the lattice cookies before you check out. So glad I found this lovely little market! They carry fresh lime leaves and galangal, which I've had a difficult time finding in other markets. The staff there are so friendly, welcoming and helpful. Everyone spoke English, which was great. I can't tell you how many hours I've wasted, wandering around the larger Asian markets, looking for specific ingredients for a recipe, asking employees where they were and not getting answers because they didn't understand me. The produce is fresh, the store is super clean and I just love the friendly family vibe! read more

I've moved to North Denver and I was sad about not being too close to all the ethnic markets in South Denver. But this store has put me to ease-it's 7 mins away! It has all that you'd need for your South East Asian inspired dishes. They have a clean set up and lots of parking. Also a huge plus for me is that it doesn't not have the smell of most Asian markets, which then provides a much better experience. My favorite item there are the fresh rice crackers with just the right amount of icing , thank me later. But otherwise it's great! read more

This place is small and cozy but had everything I needed! I went in and got some fresh baby bok choy and wonton wrappers. They carried a ton of bulk items and everything was priced really well. I loved the selection of hot sauces. Their fresh section is very small but I found bok choy, so I was satisfied. Also the guy at the front was really helpful and kind. read more

Looking to cook some authentic Thai or Laotian food? This is where you need to go. It's one of many cool little spots in my neighborhood which is rarely visited by anyone who isn't native to the culture they are catering to, and it shows. I got a number of funny looks in there, especially since I was easily over a foot taller than anyone in there. Most of the regular customers in there are small enough for me to consider as a meal. They have a ton of fresh spices and herbs, as well as pretty much every ingredient you could ever think of to fix an average Thai dish. It's great being able to go there and get fresh Lemongrass and Thai Basil very cheaply when I feel like fixing Thai food. You'll also get an idea how much regular grocery stores mark-up their "ethnic" food as things like coconut milk are at least 1/2 the price there that they are in regular grocery stores. I detracted one star for a couple of things-- it's very tight and cramped (though I'm easily much bigger than their biggest regular client). I really did feel like "a bull in a china shop" there and was afraid to knock over stuff. Also, sometimes you have to dig through some dusty stuff to find a particular item which isn't expired. The fresh herbs and spices are also pre-packaged, so you have to just accept whatever package size that things are sold in. Other than these small things against it, it's really great having an authentic Lao store so close to me, especially to get fresh, authentic ingredients for when I make Thai food. read more

The space is small. But it feels nice to support the smaller and local shops. The workers there are pretty friendly and the vegetables are fresh and reasonably priced. I also asked for ingredients on how to make pad thai, pho, and even papa salad and one of the workers there was extremely helpful and even assisted me in finding the correct ingredients! read more

This place has lots of ingredients (from produce to noodles to candy and drinks) that are hard to find at other places in town. We've done some Filipino events, and we came here for supplies. Like the other reviewer said, if you are not Southeast Asian, customers might be amused to find you shopping there, but everyone helps. If you come here looking for certain dishes from other Asian cultures (Japanese, for example) they won't always have the ingredients, as that's not what they're catering towards, but they'll suggest a good place to go. The people are really kind. English speaking is minimal, but they will help and manage however possible. The store's prices are really reasonable and affordable for families. If you are an adventurous cook, it'd be cool to go, get some random ingredients, and really explore how to prepare them. read more

I do agree that he probably got a funny look - however it was most likely because it would be uncommon for a white person to be walking around a Laotian market. Yes, the isles are a little narrow, but then again, they are fine for a standard Asian build. I completely disagree that the shelves are dusty or that the goods have passed their expiration date. I go to this place quite often and I searched the whole store for any sign of this dusty section or the goods with the expired dates - to no avail. The prices are good and its pretty easy to find. read more
