Top marks for Lao Market -- A small market tucked away off Federal that is well equipped, has true character and unique offerings. You will not find the variety and low prices on fresh herbs that you will here elsewhere, period. There are herbs that I've never seen even seen before, neatly bagged and priced for a dollar or so. I am Vietnamese-American, and I'm starting to get into the habit of getting my basil, bean sprouts, cilantro, rau ram, and mint at Lao Market, and thanks to their herb variety, may be adding new dishes to my repertoire. It's a personal mission to explore other cultures, poke through small grocery stores (where you can learn so much about other people!), and taste different potato chips of the world. All of these can be accomplished at Lao Market in spades - not to mention the selection of fish snacks, various jellies and canned fruit for desserts, and many other ingredients for your SE Asian cooking needs. As for the chips - We had Lays Mala BBQ, which were great, and next up are Sweet Thai Basil and Seaweed Gochujang. One of my favorite attributes of small Asian markets are the fresh baked/prepared goods available. At Lao Market I HIGHLY suggest you grab a small bag of the lattice cookies before you check out. They're light, crisp, and not too sweet; great with tea or coffee. I promise you won't regret it!

Veggie, meat, and dry food is always fresh and stocked. Been going here for 15 years! Love the couple that owns the place!

Not bad, but it didn't knock my socks off like other little Italian deli's around town can and do. The big flop was the service. I was unsure where to wait to order my sandwich so I waited by the case. While there were numerous employees working behind the counter, and zero other customers in the store, nobody greeted me for an awkwardly long amount of time. Maybe 5 actual minutes passed with me standing there and multiple employees working and even looking at me and never saying anything. Finally someone asked if I needed help. Yes, I want to order a sandwich. I put in my order, and it took about 10 minutes to make the sandwich. Understandable as the meat was sliced to order, which was great. In that time, another person came into the store, grabbed a few items, and stood at the register for that same full ten minutes I waited for my sandwich. Numerous employees working around, one even said hi to her, and nobody asked to help her. I was then asked a second time if I needed help and said I was waiting for my food. The other customer, still ignored. It was awkward for both of us. Finally, when my sandwich was done, they rang me out before she was rung out, and a second employee came to ring her out, and employee who walked past her numerous times while we stood there. Just a very strange customer service experience. They have a lot of room to improve in this area. On the plus side, during my long wait I was able to get photos of the grocery area and their cases and fridges. Lots of selection on the grocery side.

I think this is the son of Mr. Valente now who runs the shop. He was so nice to work with and always make the best recommendations. Came by to pick up some homemade sausage, frozen tortellini, and mascarpone. You could get a combo now with a soda of your choice and some chips. I love that they have craft Colorado sodas as selection made with real cane sugar. The deli is clean and always feels well stocked for all the essentials. They have amazing selection of various types of cheesecake, I didn't even notice they had cookies before but ended up getting a couple cookies for dessert to pair with my homecooked sausage and peppers pasta. Make sure you get your punch card if you're getting the canolis, the sausage canolis have a special place in my heart.

Most KS stores have a deli, sushi and cheese department. Not this one. It's more of a liquor store than a grocery store. The place is barely maintained and has a rent a cop at the exit. Who's ripping this place off and who cares?? Hopefully it will close and reopen as a Safeway or something better. It's the most depressing grocery I've ever been to. Do yourself a favor and drive the short distance to the KS over on 104th and federal. Way better choices and way better vibes. It's literally a dump.
