Pacific Ocean Market has been bought by Great Wall Supermarket, a small chain of Asian grocery stores. The bakery has disappeared and the produce area is much bigger than previously. There is still a butcher and fish market, a huge selection of spices, sauce, rice and plenty of other Asian products, and overall the place feels more organized and cleaner than POM. They have also moved the kitchenware in the back (an area that used to be hidden to the public), so you need to look around if you don't find what you need as the store has been a little reorganized. I personally think I'll find everything I need there and won't miss POM. read more

Huge supermarket with a huge selection of items from East, South, and South East Asia, and there are aisles dedicated to Africa, and Latin America! While the selection was huge, it did seem like some of the meats and fish were not as fresh. The veggies were fresh and a few were on sale at good prices. In addition to food, GW had aisles and aisles of dishware and cooking utensils. This used to be named Pacific Ocean Marketplace. Google shows POM is permanently closed but that's because they are now named Great Wall Supermarket. They are open. read more

I'm a Chinese from Canada and never seen a store with such bad quality food and safety issues. We recently bought our favourite Chinese dessert - it something you can find at dim sum and you have it for certain cultural festivals. This brand is very famous, we've been buying it for 10+ years However, never in my life did I see something like this. Mold all over the food. - I could have just thrown them to the water as usual without taking a second to look, but this shocked and disgusted me. Contacted the store and they said they are in the process of sorting older stuff out - meaning they will have lots of expired food. Will report this to local authority and please be careful choosing food from this store as it might poison your family. read more

New owners sucks. The people who now shop there sucks. Overpriced and they just want the money. If you need hot sauce, you can't just go down one aisle. It could be anywhere. It might be in the vietnamese aisle if it's a vietnamese brand, but if it trending it might be in the snack or ramen aisle. You just aimless wonder around and can't ask for help because the people there are assholes. They also took away the fresh bread and bbq. POM is now called Great Wall. They no longer sell fresh French bread and I could barely find essentials to make a good pot of pho. I thought quality of produce would improve since the big take over but was disappointed with the specialty squash. Meat selection is better than POM but the prices are not. I'm mostly peeved because Hmart never lets me down and I thought I'd give Great Wall another shot, but it's a thumbs down for me. I will still go to this shopping center for the good restaurants but looks like I won't step into Great Wall again unless I really need a bottle of fish sauce. read more

This place used to be Pacific Ocean. This is my second time there and first time to go in there and really wonder the store. Set up is definitely different. A lot of the vegetables are packaged individually where you cannot buy as little or much as you want. But I have seen people creatively still able to move a little more of the vegetables they want to another same item package, instead of buying two equally packaged vegetable bags. Lol Going to have to go there enough in the future to get more familiar where things are. Definitely still have some ongoing rearrangements and construction. Hopefully nothing has changed too much. Still glad that there's a big Asian market on this side of town. read more

We bought a fluke here that wasn't fresh - we threw out the dish after we cooked it because our stomachs felt funny. On top of that, the store is disorganized and chaotic at checkout. Not as much variety as Hmart. They did have my favorite Taiwanese dried bean curd snack though - which may be the only thing I come back here to buy. Id suggest getting brighter lighting for the store and re-outlining checkout lanes for clarity. Also fresher seafood produce. read more

I shop POM every other month or so and this Asian Grocery store is my stop for unique and affordable staple items that I can only find here ( or on Amazon for twice the price). Mint and basil come in huge bunches and are cheap cheap, excellent selection of teas, noodles, and Chinese, Japanese and even Indian spices. Don't forget to check out their seafood and hot deli selections. Roast duck included!!! Located between Boulder and Denver with easy access off HW 36, just east of Wadsworth on 120th. read more

I hate writing bad reviews for local companies but Pacific Ocean Broomfield was disappointing after visiting the nicer Aurora location. I agree with the other reviews, super nasty smell and produce wasn't fresh. I grew up in SoCal in the 70's-90's, been to Chinatown in LA and SF, I have a medium tolerance for sticky Asian markets. POM Broomfield exceeds my threshold. I will drive down to the Aurora location when I need Asian supplies. I can see why the HMart in Westminster is very busy, everyone buying their Asian groceries from them. read more

I'd like to start by saying that when this was the POM it was one of my favorite markets to go to everything was fresh. The prices were amazing. The staff was so helpful and kind fast forward to now the Great Wall market. This place is awful! It has a horrible smell, the employees cannot be any more rude and unhelpful I went in hopes of finding what I used to purchase when it was the POM, fresh made sesame balls. There was nothing,I asking the employees for help. They rolled their eyes and walked away. I had never felt so unwelcome in a supermarket, it's sad because this was my favorite store to go to when my kids were little when it was the POM. It was absolutely terrible these employees were so disgusted with my presence there that when I finished up and went to pay, I asked the lady for my total, and she rudely pointed at the screen and didn't even bother looking at me not a word. Needless to say, I will never spend another cent at this place.Don't bother with this place.Truly unfortunate. read more

In general, I would love to recommend and support local Asian business. POM has served Denver metro areas for decades and grown from a small grocery store to three large shops. It is a family owned business. It carries a tons of Asian spices and goods and served the Asian community well. With that said, I have significantly reduce my shopping there, especially the one on the 120th street after two poor experiences with its frozen packaged food. In both occasions, food were spoiled, clearly they were thwarted and refrozen. During that process, the food were spoiled. I suspected that its freezer malfunctioned and owner continued to sell the spoiled goods. The worse part is that when I approached the store for refund (normally a day after my purchase), the business owner refused to give refund and claimed the food could be spoiled during my possession. This business practice is really unheard of in American, where stores always give their customers the benefits of doubt and either refund or exchange goods. I refused to support business that treats its customers this way. Beware buying its frozen packaged food. If you buy dumplings, make sure dumplings are frozen and loose as individual pieces. Refrozen food tends to form a big lump of pieces. I don't buy meat nor seafood in PCO either as they are not the best quality. I would buy at other stores and pay a little bit more for higher quality products. read more

Generally speaking this is one of my family's favorite store to go to with an ample selection of traditional Vietnamese ingredients and had good selection of Indian spices and lentils. Fresh veggie spring rolls are made with care and delicious. BBQ delicacies entice shoppers with the well roasted aromas of traditional seasonings. The owner has always helped my mother with finding ingredients which I have been grateful for . Aisles are well stocked and organized and because they they keep up with the inventory there seems to always be boxes occupying the space and limiting traffic. I gave it a two star today due to my first experience of the many years that I have been a customer of having an unenlightened grocery clerk or one that was bothered by the fact that I asked for certain groceries to be bagged together like soft with soft and hard/heavy with like. My parents deli chopped deli duck was turned on the side during the bagging process which resulted in the juices pouring out into the bag. I placed it back on the counter to clean it there instead of making a mess on my counter. The other container with deli pork was also turned on its side. Thank goodness it was dry with no juices, however, a dessert cup of rice with lid was hastily bagged and not secured and placed underneath the box of duck and pork and got smashed with content all escaping into the bag. I returned to get another. Thank goodness I rechecked the groceries at the car before I left. I recommend shopping here for the vast selection, friendly service and well stacked aisles and .... to watch the delicate items at check-out and give specific instructions if you want don't them damaged and abused before arriving at your destination. read more

A new ownership change in the past few months, they started to accept food stamps, change the fridges and reorganize everything in the stores, even using the WeChat group to update incoming products and answer questions for customers now. I really like this store now! read more

I don't know if it has already been mentioned but the ownership has changed and the new owners are going wild with all the stock. In a good way, there is such a huge selection now, and like so many shrimp chips from various countries, and the meat and produce section is on point. I know before it transferred to the new owners it was not the best experience. I seriously suggest you go back and check it out again. Seriously, the spices, the sauces, the so many varieties of rice, they had snacks- which I can only normally get going downtown. I am forever thankful for my friend Tracy introducing me to this Broomfield Gem. On my second trip I had a ball perusing the store with my companion who had never experienced anything quite like this. I made sure to show him the peking duck as well as the expansive candy isle - then it was down to business. You see we were visiting the Marketplace for a particular reason - to pick up some goodies for a birthday party. The instructions for the party were to bring our favorite asian inspired dessert/treat. Of course what came to mind immediately was D-u-r-i-a-n fruit. Now durian fruit is something I've been curious about for quite some time. Some people love it, some can't stand it - and of course there's also the rumors of the pungent smell it brings with it. As the store is so large (particularly the produce section) I zeroed out an employee shortly after arriving (after all we were on a time schedule). I asked her politely if she could please direct me to the durian. She responded that she didn't know what I was referencing. In this modern age I decided to pull up a picture on my phone (which I thought was a genius move), I then received the same answer. After wandering around the produce a bit longer I noted another employee who was even less inclined or interested to assist me. I was totally bummed out at this point. Heading back towards the front of the store we passed an open freezer which was chalk full of durian (both whole and cut up and frozen). B-I-N-G-O! Then there was the question "what does a ripe durian look/smell/feel like?". Since it was sold by the pound we chose the most small/attractive one and hit the register. Let's just say the durian was the hit of the party. I will definitely be back to the marketplace before my next soiree. After all they carry loads of dishes, kitchen accessories, bamboo plants, and interesting food galore. Other staples may also be purchased in bulk at a great price (soy sauce etc.). read more

This is a typical Asian grocery store. It has lots of fresh seafood like lobster, crab and crawfish. And FROGS! I was trying to buy some roasted pork and was waiting in line. The lady was cutting some food for the customer in front of us and she cut her finger. I'm not sure if she threw away the foods on the cutting board or cleaned it...but we left. The entire store reeks of rotting fish, a large section of frozen meats were very obviously thawed and refrozen, and it was just filthy. I am no stranger to ethnic foods or establishments, I know they run differently than traditional American grocery stores, but I'd love to know how this place passes any type of health inspection. read more

I come out here from Boulder just to go to this market! The produce section is SO wonderful with mushrooms, melons, greens etc that you CAN'T find anywhere else, especially not at prices so reasonable. Every time I come, I load up on fruits and veggies, multiple varieties of tofu, miso, sauces, teas, and delicious and fun Asian snacks. I love how many different languages are spoken here and how many cultures are represented in these aisles! read more

Saturday: December 27 2008, To Pacific Ocean Marketplace the ones located at Broomfield, Colorado we went. The shop is defnitely kept clean. Though I cant deny some of the items are slightly above the price of which I can find of another outlet in Alameda and other Asian stores. Was it because its located at Broomfield? One good point, they have more variety of Asian spices and have at least an aisle of Indian spices or range of Indian products that you can cook at home. One disadvantage, once again I found EXPIRED cans of food or packaging. Just be careful next time you intend to purchase some of the items from here. Oooh they do have DURIANS too. Ones that are prepared in boxes located at the frozen aisle and the TORNY SPIKY shell as a whole fruit. The seafood counter is well-maintained and definitely have long queue of customers. Though its quite a distance for us to drive here, perhaps I would convinced hubs once again in the future to drive up here. All in all is an OK experience. Though I cant deny the cashier who served us had a bad day or something coz, he does not seems to be happy to serve us at the check out line. read more

I love that Pacific Ocean hosts the Lion Dancers and kung fu performers for the Lunar New Year. Of course I love their food and snack selections as well. Although it's a bit complicated to figure out their organization and frankly what some items are due to a language gap, I still enjoy every visit to POM. read more

I came out here for a couple reasons - I wanted a number of asian specialty items like furikake that while you can buy online are a lot more expensive than if you find them in store, and I was looking for a place where I could buy sashimi grade fish to make sushi at home. On the first note this was a win - the store is huge and they have a vast selection of all different types of pantry/non perishable items on the shelf. As an example, they had at least 5 brands of furikake and a ton of different flavors for each. I also picked up some dried shrimp, sushi rice, and some awesome asian cookies/sweets. Also, if you make a lot of asian food this is where you can buy basic items like soy sauce in bulk. On the other side, I would never buy anything fresh here. Why? Because it doesn't actually look fresh at all. The place overall looks kind of grimy and smells worse, like something (or many things) are past their prime. And while I lost interest in the idea of buying raw fish there a few minutes after I walked in the door, they didn't seem to have a real selection of sushi grade fish anyway, and if they did it wasn't clear where you would find it. I recently went to H Mart and while much smaller, still has all the things I'm looking for in a significantly cleaner environment. So while Pacific Ocean offers a vast selection I don't think I'll be returning. read more

It's a big store. You need to have been here before many times to know where anything is. It took me almost 45 minutes to find 5 items that generally would take 5 - 10 mins if I went elsewhere, since they do not organize it well. For a store this big you generally expect better prices but not here. Expect a 25 - 50% markup compared to other asian stores in the area. read more

What a FANTASTIC Asian Market! It must be said that I am not quite up to par with all the ingredients in this market, but I am so willing to try every day going forward. This place is awesome. All the meat, cookies, biscuits, fish, pickled things, noodles, veggies, plates, and most importantly rice. My friend and I were looking for a great Asian Market and this one is closest to her, a little bit if a trek for me but I will definitely make the trip again just for this place. We were just there to grab some select items, but I am going back to walk every aisle and browse and buy accordingly. We got some BBQ pork which was fabulously flavored and yummy, some Vietnamese egg rolls which were equally delicious. We also ordered tow whole Tilapia's fried to order for .50 a pound. Let me tell you it was great. They also have live fish, lobsters, and clams in the back of the store. A great selection of frozen food that looked great. Every sauce you could imagine with siracha and hot sauce and plums, and ginger, and whatever else you can think of. If you like Asian anything you will die for this store. I highly recommend it. I love..love...love this Asian market. So many choices of stuff that sometimes I find myself just wondering around in "what is that taste like" heaven. The on site roasted duck and chicken are so incredible. Plus you can even get a roasted pig... Whoo Hoo! Also many seafood choices but make sure you check expiration date as I have found a few items a bit out of date. The sea bass I picked up last week was on point. This place seriously grossed me out. First of all...that smell in the meat section...that's rotten blood on the floor behind the counter that no one has bothered to mop yet, ya dig? I was horrified when I looked into the bin of crawdads. Half were dead and the other half were alive, crawling over their deceased. What a terrible condition to live in. Plus, had I bought some of these crustaceans, it would freak me out to not know how long some of them had already been sitting there dead in room temperature. The produce section boasted of a variety of exotic fruits and vegetables that couldn't be procured easily from most conventional sources; however, it was also lacking because many items were rotting or rotten. When buying frozen items, especially items containing meat, you have to be very careful in checking the expiration date because some of the stuff expired eons ago. The store itself is filthy. This place has a lot of potential due to the numerous items that can't be found elsewhere; unfortunately, the freshness and sanitation is very questionable, which renders most items useless.
