In this Safeways defence, I usually shop at the Safeway in American Canyon, where they often only have 1 live checker with up to 8 customers in line. I like the new remodel- it's been a while . I've been shopping here for years . The staff has always been nice to Me and Safeway is my place to go for my everything forever . I need ballon's and a cake for a special birthday .. a baby arrived - yayyy. The staff member went above and beyond for me ... she checked in early to help me out . Came in on 2/21/26 when my beautiful wife called me that we were out of diapers and our toddler had a big poop in her current one. This Safeway is located on Solano Square in Benicia, Ca. The checker and bagger were super nice. I was able to get everything I wanted except eggs. No big deal I understand they must have not gotten their egg delivery yet. When the egg case was as low as it was I would think someone would have wanted to clean it. There were open containers and broken dried up eggs. I bought two single pieces of cake, I'm glad they were on sale because they were extremely dry. My bad I should have looked at the date. Where I work we pull perishable product a day or two before the date of expiration on the containers. I would have only given the store a 1 star but gave it a three star because of how nice the checker and bagger was. read more

If you shop at this store with food stamps some employees will treat you disrespectfully and differently. Some go as far as treating you as if you are a thief. I do not have a car, and this grocery store is in walking distance from my home, so with my situation I continue to shop here for ME. I placed a large order, of 60 All American Hoagie sandwiches at the deli. I requested that they be cut into thirds and to avoid creating a lot plastic garbage, wrapped individually. The deli manager, William, reassured me that he would personally oversee the sandwich assembly. Two days before I was to pick up the order, he called me to review the order. At pick up, the order was perfect! Everyone was very nice and offered to help me load up all the sandwich filled bags into my car. The sandwiches were fresh, delicious, everyone raved about them. Went here to do a bit of grocery shopping & was able to find all the items I needed on my grocery run. I use the Safeway app to look for the items I need but I must say the only down side about shopping at this Safeway is how terrible the wi-fi reception is. If you do use the Safeway app I would recommend clipping all the coupons & rewards before shopping here. While I was here I checked out the sushi area to see what they have. Lucky for me they had an adorable sushi platter for V-day & the price is super worth it especially how much sushi is in that plate. You would also have to ask the people at the deli for utensils & soy sause packets. The sushi was pretty good & totally would get it again. I ordered sour cream and received marscapone cheese and I was told that I got a better item even though I was charged my order and it showed sour cream was in my order. When you want a fast meal, the deli in Safeway is a good place to go. I come here a lot on my lunch break, i normally get a sandwich or sushi. I love that they cut meat and cheese fresh for you, if you get there around 9am you can see the sushi being freshly made, you also miss the lunch rush. Just came by to get some sale items. Saw avocados for 88 cents each. I got 3ea, but when I went to self checkoit I selected avocado, not large. I was charged $2 ea. I visited the store to pickup several different veggies. As I was checking out the cashier, wearing a mask below her mouth but covering her chin, began coughing repeatedly. She apologized but continued coughing as she handled my groceries and the receipt. She appeared to be sick and she should have been covering her mouth with her mask. The most humiliating experience I've ever had in my life. I pay cash for my items using a $50.00 bill in the self-checkout. I receive my change, bag my items, and take my receipt. I am followed out the store by the clerk, ALANA, and in front of people outside spoken loudly to she says that I did not pay for all my items. Then I'm walked back inside so she can look in my bag because, now she says, her manager, ANN, said I didn't pay. I'm totally embarrassed at this point and humiliated. So all together I show them my receipt, I count my items and guess what, everything in the bag WAS paid for. NOT ONE APOLOGY. No acknowledgment of the humiliation. I came into the store, after work, I'm dressed in a dress suit, pearls, and heels. Oh and I'm a BLACK WOMAN driving a $150k Mercedes!!! Do I look like I need to steal ANYTHING??? This is generally one of the smaller Safeway's that I've seen. The selection is pretty small, with only a couple of brands being offered for many items and relatively little selection. The prices, while a bit cheaper than Raley's on average, are not much better. They're often out of random items like most brands of milk and cream cheese. The whole store also just feels cramped and dirty. Maybe I was spoiled by other Safeways in the past, but this is easily the least enjoyable one to shop at. The fruit and meat selection in particular is pretty weak here. Prices are okay, but be warned that they can be misleading and not ring up the same way. Service is often overwhelmed by too few staff, but generally fine. Benicia could really use a couple more/better grocery options... read more

Wait a minute...No Wells Fargo ATM inside Safeway. I see that there is a Starbucks inside Safeway. Benicia only has two grocery store - Safeway and Raley's. Observing both grocery stores it gets a fair amount of people doing their grocery shopping. Safeway in Benicia wasn't bad. I took a walk around inside and I like what I saw. It wasn't messy when I took a walk. They have manage to keep the store maintain through out the years that this has been open for business. Safeway is located in a nice area of Benicia. Plenty of other businesses in this shopping center. I enjoy coming to this location compare to going to Glen Cove in Vallejo. read more

When I had a question about the advertised price of an item, I was informed by an employee that I had to use the Safeway APP to get the price as advertised when I am physically purchasing my items within the Safeway store. Excuse me!! The particular employee was emphatic that I needed to use their APP to get the advertised price. And you wonder why I pay Seven bucks to cross the bridge to shop at Trader Joe's in Concord?? The price differences on similar items at both stores is significant. In some cases Safeway prices are almost double as compared to TJ's. So Safeway can keep their APP to mislead in-store customers about their their two tier pricing. read more

Ive noticed this Safeway has nice staff on the registers. I like their app which helps me find good deals when I grocery. I probably won't do their drive up again.. they unfortunately have my order to someone else and had to wait for them to collect my items again. I usually go in store but they had a coupon of 15$ off 75$ if you choose online which I wanted to take advantage of. They didn't have most of the items in my list so They didn't apply the coupon.
