Let me begin by saying this store sold me curdled milk- 3 gallons, weeks before the expiration date- ALL CURDLED and NASTY. I would have taken it back...but would only end up with more sour milk.
Now...I can see the appeal of this store...you don't have to hold up a grocery line with your WIC checks, or feel embarrassed. This is an all inclusive WIC store. You give them your checks and they fill your order and even carry to your car. Heres the bad part. They price gouge something awful. A bag of dry beans for instance is $3 there, when at the store it is a little over a dollar. Everything else is generic or no name brand (with the exception of most of the cereal) yet extremely over priced. You may think "who cares" "not my money anyways" but these stores are taking advantage of the WIC program, and the more money overpaid to store like this for a profit, the less money the WIC program has, and the more likely in the future there may no be a WIC program.
There is not a good selection here, at food max across the street, you can get fresh milk and name brand items that cost only a fraction. The baby food has a limited selection as well, and the fruit and veg section is very small.
Do yourself a favor and go to the regular grocery store during off peak hours..like early in the am. This store is a rip off and I feel i takes advantage of this wonderful program. More rip off stores like this- with questionable food freshness and quality, and the WIC program could be bankrupted. read more
