Auto-recalibration button on a Tesla. No need to $600 "recalibration" fee.

Would give it zero if I could. Got quote for windshield replacement. It was acceptable. Before the appointment, they modified the quote to include "camera recalibration" fee of $600. Tesla's have auto-recalibrating cameras and even a "recalibrate" button if you want to force it to recalibrate on your own. Safelite said they wouldn't do the service without that recalibration fee. I cancelled and found a guy who would did it cheaper then the original Safelite quote. Clicked the calibration button and 10 minutes later of driving it was done. Nice try Safelite.

USAA referred me to Safelite for a cracked windshield that needed to be replaced. I made an appointment and was told it could take up to 2 hours for the entire appointment. I brought my car in the day of my appointment - I arrived 15 minutes early for an 11:00 am appointment. It was 11:21 am when they pulled my vehicle in to the repair bay. They completed the work and vacuumed the car - in about an hour. My complaints about Safelite - have nothing to do with the work that was done. I am dinging them over this physical location. It's a really old building that needs a major retrofit - and the place is tiny, including the parking lot. The parking lot is hard to get in and out - and there is very little parking. The waiting room has an old flat screen TV hanging on the wall - with a tiny amount of available TV channels - which as far as I call - were in standard definition - not HD. I was attempting to watch ESPN - and quickly found even these basic channels were unavailable. There is a WiFi network for customers - but it was so slow - as to be unusable. I had to disconnect from the WiFi and just use cellular to get anything done. #Safelite

I'm not having a good experience with Safelite in Manassas. Friday I took my car in to see if they could repair a bad rock chip, or to replace my windshield if that failed. I was sent here by my insurance company, USAA. The repair did not go well and the technician agreed that a replacement windshield would be a better option. So, they replaced my windshield, I paid $350 and went home. When I took the tape off the top after an hours as instructed I noticed the gap between to top of the windshield and the car frame was now very large. I also noticed the windshield was not OEM, but was a Chinese aftermarket version. Since I have another car that is the same model, I compared the two. The gap should have been about .07 inches, but in the car with the Safelite windshield it was now .17 inches. Sounds small, but I assure you it is a very noticeable difference. I called into Safelite and was told they could send someone out on Monday to look at it. I declined and took my car back in on Saturday instead. The technician agreed that the gap was now too large and scheduled a warranty visit for Monday. So, now I have to go back and wait again on Monday while they try to properly fix my windshield again. I really wish I had gone somewhere else for this work.

Amazing! I have been wanting to get my windows tinted because there is too much sunlight coming in…read morefrom the sides in my commute. The woman who worked there (sorry I forgot her name, I want to say it was Mindy but am probably way off and the guys in the shop will start calling her Mindy as a joke now) was so helpful. She showed me the tint displays and explained the different options/coatings available. I needed some hand holding, so we went in the parking lot and she pointed out the cars and what percentage tint each had--this was extremely helpful and made it really clear as to what to expect. They have pricing clearly displayed. They had quick availability for scheduling, but since it was close to the end of the day, they offered to put everyone on the job and get it done for me same day (took about 45 minutes but 3 of them were working together). They invite you back for any air bubbles that haven't resolved within a week--I had one and it dried out and went away within two days--part of the cutting process. Also, they put a sticker over your window buttons because you cannot roll them down for 3-5 days after the install--no drive throughs allowed, haha!

He was getting his tints done too. His car was finished before mine and then I noticed that he paid at the end so I was feeling like a way. I'm not sure if I'm gonna use the service again because I don't like being treated different than other others. I felt a little racism in the air. And I did ask her about it and she said oh no, you can pay in the beginning or you could pay the end but as soon as I walk through the door, she just asked me for the money. I've never paid for services like that before once you I give you my car key I gotta pay you to get it back anyway. it's a five star business and if not for that snafu, it would've given it five stars . I think I'm not feeling the way they got the money from me cause I was gonna pay them regardless and my car looks great. And I'm not trying to throw shape. They do have Black people that worked there and they seem to be a family oriented business but somehow another they just wasn't feeling this black man right here.
