Quick, easy, and friendly service. The tech arrived as promised and did the work quickly.

I waited at my house all day today, from 12-5 PM for a windshield repair service. I called multiple times to check on when the technician was coming, and was assured multiple times that they would be here today and send a text or call 30-45 minutes before they arrived. After receiving no texts or calls regarding their ETA, I called again at 4:36 PM. The person on the phone told me that they had come and I was not there, which is impossible. I also got absolutely no texts or calls saying that they were 30-45 minutes away. I waited all day for this, and my car inspection is next week, which I now will not pass because of my lack of windshield repair. I am angry and disappointed with this failure of a company's service today. read more

I have a very small chip in my windshield. The technician on July 16th spent maybe 15 minutes on it at the shop in Durham. When I looked at it from the outside of my car, it did look like it had been repaired. however, when driving my car, the chip is exactly like it was before I took my car to Safelite. Now, they are telling me they don't "do repairs over repairs." I am furious. To add to my total frustration, a mobile appointment I scheduled for Saturday July 11 was never completed, because the Safelite technician decided not to come to work that day. I was notified at 5:50 pm that he did not show up for work. This company totally sucks. read more

I had an excellent experience with Safelite in Durham. The service could not have been better or more timely or well-done. The staff were courteous and polite. I want to take a minute to commend the young man who was handling a customer who was hostile, belligerent, and surprised that new windshields cost money. The young man behind the desk was very polite and kept his cool. The "lady" making a scene was trying to get him to act poorly, but he was a southern gentleman to his core. Hard to do anywhere, but in that part of Durham he deserves a medal. read more

Dropped the ball big time. Scheduled appointment days out. No call no show on appointment but offered to schedule it out for another 9 more days. I'm good keep your sh*tty service update. You understand people take take days off from work sometimes for your service. If roles were reversed you would charge someone for canceling service. If you need immediate service I heard AutoGlass would take care of you at a cheaper rate. This is my second time dealing with this company's BS !!!!!! read more

If i could put negative 5 stars i would, went back THREE times due to the windshield blowing air in the vehicle, 1st time for the appointment i was told an hour then after 2 it still wasn't done as every tech in the garage was playing on their phones, then the 2nd time they said it was the weather stripping and wouldn't look at anything else to verify, came back a third time and they said i needed to wait another two hours so i scheduled an appointment at a different location, there are pieces broken off my rear view mirror nobody seems to have any response other then ask another location. highly don't recommend unless you want to go through all this and more, we are from florida and had both dogs with us and i did explain this to them. when i called asking for my photos of the before and after i was denied them. read more

This is for the one on 3633 Durham-Chapel Hill road in Durham. Geez, this place is sad and no wonder! My sedan had been broken into and my insurance suggested that I go to this location to have my drivers side front and rear windows wrapped, broken glass picked up and seats and floor vacuumed...standard procedure I was informed. No appointment was needed so I drove over. The lady at the front desk was friendly and very informative...maybe she should be the GM because in my view she represents the company very well. The floor manager wasn't quite as good, in fact he was quite flippant about what I was told would be done vs what was really going to happen. I didn't get his name but the only thing he had done was to wrap the affected windows in cellophane. NO clean up, NO vacuum! He said that they normally provide those services but they had to 'keep it moving' which blew my mind. They even wrapped the driver side window instead of just clearing the entire window they just wrapped it up with the opening which created a porthole to look out of...this created low visibility and was very dangerous! Once I'd gotten there I did read the bad reviews and after being there, I fully concur. The sad thing is, it seems that management won't step in to correct as this has been going on for quite some time from what I've read...Sad. Oh, after my visit I drove 45 miles to Safelight in Burlington and was treated & serviced appropriately. read more

I initially came in after filing a glass claim with Geico and they recommended I come here. I had quarter size ding from rock hitting my windshield. Made an appointment for 2 weeks later. The worker found 2 other very small sized dings and offered to fit them as well. Unfortunately, as they mention it could happen, one of the super small dings repairs turned into a foot crack. Got my windshield replaced 4 days later and things have been great since! The workers are all very nice. Just keep in mind they also don't know when a chip will turn into a repair and be kind! read more

**CHOOSE A DIFFERENT RALEIGH/DURHAM LOCATION FOR INITIAL REPAIR** Getting the repair done correctly the FIRST time is critical when dealing with Safelite. Read a few other one-star reviews and you'll see that the warranty process is frustrating. This means that you really need to pick a location that gets it right the FIRST time. Based on the number of one-star reviews for this Durham location, you can tell that they struggle when it comes to getting these repairs right the first time. It was raining on the drive home from the shop, so I immediately noticed that the rain sensor for my automatic wipers wasn't working. I had paid extra for this to be calibrated, so this was annoying but I figured it would be a quick fix. I naturally tried to call that location, but the number goes to a call center and virtual operator. There was no option to call the location back directly. I had picked up the car 30 minutes before closing, and was too far to make it back before they left for the day. I requested a warranty repair online, which required a customer service agent to call me during business hours. The representative set me up for the appointment and asked if I wanted to use the same Durham location. When I arrived for the service in Durham, I discovered that it had been set up for the wrong location (in Raleigh, 45 minutes away). I didn't notice the mistake, so I guess that's on me too, but still frustrating that they set it up incorrectly. If I had been allowed to make the warranty appointment online, it probably wouldn't have been an issue. The assistant manager at the Durham location was deliberately unhelpful...no expression of regret that their shop had caused the issue with the rain sensor in the first place, no offer to "make it right" by going the extra mile. I would have even appreciated having somebody take a look and see if it was a quick fix (calibration issue) or something that would require a part to be ordered. Just no effort on his part whatsoever. No evidence that he or his shop stand behind their work. I even asked if they could call the other shop 45 minutes away to see if they could still accommodate me that day and he said he couldn't. He even refused to help look up the phone number to prevent me from going through the automated system that Safelite sends you to when you call their branches. He did offer to schedule an appointment at their location in the future, so I suspect that if his general manager asks him about this negative review he'll say "I did what I could." I get it, nobody wants extra work at 3pm, but there were empty bays and a few technicians standing around at the time. The sad thing is that any appearance of making some effort to "make it right" would have gone a long way and prevented an angry customer / bad online review. Instead, I'm joining the long list of one-star reviewers for this Durham location. Safelite is the only choice most of us have for auto glass repair, but we DO have a choice for the location we use. I would steer clear of this one: 1) poor track record on initial repairs, judging by other reviews and 2) poor customer service when they do questionable work. This is the only negative review I've ever given a company. If Safelite had a confidential system on their website, I'd use that so that to reach out. read more

If there was a negative 10 I would post it. Company installed wrong windshield on my RNge Rover and broke mirror mount and rain sender off. That was in November of 2022. It's now February 2023 and am still getting the run around. Telling me Land Rover doesn't have part when I am close to dealership parts manager, oh yeah, they have it. And they have sent out 5 people who tell me, yeah! That's the wrong windshield. For the love of god! Don't use this crappy company! read more

Bottom line the guys at the shop get 5 stars, the company itself leaves a lot to be desired. They Do Not have on-site service here. You'd think that wouldn't be an site-specific service since it's what their whole ad campaign is centered around. I learned if they crack your windshield while repairing it, they're not liable. The human customer service staff were good but the ChatBot gave me the wrong number for the shop, and we all believed the website that said they were open on Sunday. Gratefully, the staff are good people - I left a brand new iPad there and they called me first thing Monday. I left a note in the After hours key box, since I couldn't just call and leave a message. Thanks guys! read more

Easy to set up an appointment and the fix only took 30-minutes to fix. I was quite impressed by how fast it took. A rock hit my windshield and left a crack/hole the size of a quarter. I windshield replaced roughly 3 weeks ago. The installer said he could not calibrate the camera and someone would call to reschedule. After four days with no call back I called to reschedule. I was informed I had to come into the shop. after waiting an hour, the technician said he could not calibrate it because the adjustment screw was stripped out. I was told the manager would reach out to discuss options. After several days went by without anyone calling, I called in to speak with the manager and was told she was on a conference call and call me right back. I think you can guess what happened next, she never called. A few days later I called who then called the . Corporate told me the manager was off that day and call me first thing in the morning when she returned. I think you can guess what happened next no one ever called me back. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. Went here to get a dime-sized chip/crack repaired. They said it would take 30 to 45 minutes. Waited an hour, then saw the guy drive my car back around to the front with a much worse crack that goes all the way down the windshield. He told me it was too hot out and they tried to cool it, which didn't work. I watched them the whole time, and they didn't take the car into their garage once. Why try the repair out in the sun if it's too hot?! So now a $100 repair is an over $1,000 replacement. They they were like, "Well, your insurance will cover it." Problem is my insurance agent says they may drop me if I make a claim. Pretty sure these people just made it worse for the bigger check. Thanks, Safelite. Don't go to this location. Recently had my car broken into while at work and needed my driver side driver window replaced. Was able to get a replacement fairly quickly. Unfortunately this replacement was short lived and after 2 weeks, my window could be pulled out from the car fully intact. Went back to this Safelite that Wednesday to see what could be done but they didn't have an appointment until Saturday morning which is fine, I understand they're busy especially with all the break ins lately. Take the car in that Saturday, come back later that afternoon after work assuming the car would be ready (did not receive a call or txt about updates). I was disappointed to arrive with crash wrap still on my window. I then go in and the manager at the front desk proceeded to tell me that my regulator was broken and needed to be replaced. Again this would've been something I would feel would warrant a phone call to notify the customer and give them options on how to rectify the matter. The manager said that a new window was placed but it would not be useable until the regulator was replaced. He then proceeded to tell me that I would need to buy a regulator myself and come back and pay out of pocket for them to install the regulator and fix the window. By this time it was down pouring with the recent tropical storm but I'm curious why the issue wasn't just fixed and billed for it later or even roll the new window up and lock it in place instead of leaving me with crash wrap again which wasn't even applied correctly. Overall, really disappointed in the lack of communication regarding updates/texts about the vehicles status, the lack of initiative to rectify an issue within the employees/companies abilities and the relaxed customer service/work ethic demonstrated. Will never go back. read more

I've had a small chip on my windshield that did not bother me, but all of a sudden developed a tiny crack on the other side that kept spreading. I called my insurance company and the cost of a replacement did not meet my deductible but I was referred here. Everything seemed very efficient. I got several email and text reminders and showed up at my appointed time. They have coffee and snacks in their waiting room. Everything now looks and works great. Based on my experience, I highly recommend Safelite. read more

took my car in at 9:30am for appt (via erie insurance) to replace my windshield....pretty straightforward. i was told it would probably take 2-3 hrs. got a call at 4:10pm that they had broken the replacement windshield... (when this happened exactly... is anybody's guess). ok, i understand stuff happens.... they would like to keep it another day. i asked if they would provide rental car for the next day... until car is ready... since it was their fault and all. the guy said he would check & call me right back... they close at 5:00pm. ok, it's after 5pm the store is closed and they aren't answering their phone(s). i called the 1-800 national customer service number & got number for chris knight, mgr of durham safelite store (336) 583-9215, left him a message about broken replacement windshield & possible rental for a day. again, heard nothing back... they're good at this "no call back" stuff. one of chris' employee's eventually calls me back saying (mgr chris) said "no to rental". i asked him, if he could have his mgr (chris knight) call me back.... said he would pass along the message. once again, of course, chris didn't return my call... (chris has definite "pro" potential on this "no call back" stuff.... musta worked for time warner or spectrum cable at some point). obviously, chris knight (how is he the mgr?) isn't big on returning phone calls, and most likely confused by the term "customer service". nonetheless, i wish him luck in his next job search.... he's certainly missed the mark here... think it's time to move on. again, gotta think if time warner or spectrum cable are in need of questionably qualified people un-willing to answer phones ,return calls & respond to customers.... chris is their guy! just say no to Safelite AutoGlass.... read more

I brought my 2023 Subaru here for a full windshield replacement after a rock hit my windshield and cracked. The whole process was so smooth and my windshield now looks great! I'm actually quite surprised to read such low reviews for this company. My experience was great. Last Thursday a truck in front of me kicked up a huge rock and cracked my windshield. I called my insurance company and they had me choose a glass replacement company. Safelite was the only name I recognized so I picked them. I was on the phone with Safelite so maybe 15 minutes or so going over vehicle details, etc. and set up an appointment for their mobile unit to come to me on Monday. Appointment time was supposed to be between 12-5pm with a call 30 minutes prior to arrival. Monday morning. A lot of mixed reviews on here, but I honestly had a good experience myself. I took my car onsite for a scheduled 10AM Saturday appointment, for a windshield replacement. They were done in about 30 minutes. The windshield was replaced with one that was identical to the old one. I had to prepay online when scheduling my appointment, which I assume is because they had to order the windshield prior to the appointment. Bonus points for the free snacks in the waiting area. The waiting room wasn't exactly inviting even for a repair shop, but at least I could pick up free wireless from somewhere. More importantly, I got a same-day appointment (almost immediate in fact) through my insurance claims rep, and the shop did a great job. Fast service and repaired a nasty chip rather than needing a replacement -- which is obviously key, since insurance foots the bill with a repair. A successful day. The shop is hard to spot since it's sort of sandwiched in with a car wash and a window tinting spot. (Speaking of sandwich ... I'd much rather be writing a food review. I knew Yelp always made me hungry but I didn't think it applied when I'm reviewing car places. Productivity fail.) read more

I would drive around with cellophane as a windshield before I would EVER let Safelite touch my car again. My problems started several years ago when they replaced my windshield on my 2nd car which I don't drive often. I took it in to work, and they were to come by per our scheduled appointment. I arrived 30 minutes early at work (8am) so I could be sure the key hand-off didn't interfere with my work. I waited. I waited. I waited. Around 10am, I called them to find out where they were. A snotty guy sarcastically asked, "Did you look up? Did you know it's raining?" I said I knew it was raining, and he replied they don't work in the rain. Well, no one called me to cancel or anything, and I wasn't sure if they had a device like a tent that they put up for different weather issues, especially since they were coming from Durham to SANFORD! Not sure why I didn't have a company closer to me, but this was all insurance-driven. Anyway, we rescheduled the appointment. The guy arrived just after noon and was there a really long time. About 5:15, he was finished. I was ready to go home, so he had me sign papers and gave me the keys. On my way home, I hear this deep gushing-wind sound. I had no idea what that was until I pulled over and examined the windshield. He hadn't put the trim around the outside of the windshield. My fault for not thoroughly inspecting. I called the company, and they said they would be back the next morning. The same guy came and "fixed" it by putting the trim back and securing it with duct tape. He told me I could remove the duct tape the next day. I had to call them back for a third time, and the guy asked me not to complain because he would get fired. I can't for the life of me understand how he was left in the field alone to begin with. I began to find things wrong with the installation months and months later, but since I do not install windshields, I wasn't aware of everything that COULD go wrong. The plastic beauty extension strip that covers the rear-view mirror wiring kept falling down. I wasn't sure why, but do you think for one minute I would call Safelite again? Hell no! Remember I said I didn't drive this vehicle often, well a year later when I drove it in the rain, I had an issue with the windshield wipers. When I turned them on, they'd flap hard at each other, hit each other, and then the wipers would fly off. I had to immediately pull over and stand my wipers at attention so the metal wouldn't scratch the glass. Long story short - took it to Advance Auto Parts where they went through 3 pairs of wipers in 15 minutes before I discovered I needed my wipers SERVICED at the dealership for alignment and timing. The doofus Safelite guy had taken off my wipers to put the windshield on. It cost me nearly $300 OUT OF MY OWN POCKET FFS! Last year, I noticed a black "snake" on my dashboard slithering out from the bottom of my windshield. It was the gasket that was improperly installed swelling up and finding its way in the cabin. LOL. So, a few months ago, I was driving my vehicle and a rock hit it, splitting a 2 foot crack in front of the driver's side. I called Glass America (YAY GLASS AMERICA!). We discovered why the beauty trim had been falling down... the shithead doofus Safelite guy had removed and not re-installed the headliner clips, which I knew something was funky for years about the headliner, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it... because... hey, I don't know how to install windshields. And neither did that idiotic shithead doofus Safetlite guy. I don't know of anything else he could have done wrong except if he were to install the glass upside-down or inside-out. The good news is that I'm finally DONE with Safelite, although in order to fix my headliner, I have to find the part and provide it to the glass company since that's not part of a normal installation. read more

My original appointment was to replace a shattered side vent window. I was easily able to schedule this appointment online as a mobile repair. The technician who did the service was pretty good - he was very proactive about communicating his arrival time for the appointment, walking me through the work, and how long it would take. He was very friendly and very professional, but ended up leaving quite a lot of broken glass all over the car port where the service was performed. The repair seemed fine until I actually drove the car. The new window didn't seem like it was set and/or sealed well into the slot - it made a very loud whistling sound when driving, like it was open just a crack, and when I inspected it closer, it seemed to jiggle back and forth a little in the slot. I was able to schedule a warranty service to fix the issue, but had to bring it into the shop for the day. The repair took many hours longer than anticipated, and as soon as I pulled out of the driveway the window whistle was back, this time even louder than before. I turned around and drove back, and when I explained what was going on to the clerk at the front desk, he didn't even acknowledge that I had said something, stood up, and walked away. He came back ~7 minutes later and said there was nothing they could do except see if my insurance would cover another replacement. I asked about timeframe and he said he didn't know. I asked if they needed my insurance information and he said no. I asked if I could have a copy of the claim/inquiry paperwork and he said he didn't have it. Apparently they will just contact me at some point in the future. He was incredibly rude and belittling. Truly one of the worst customer service interactions I've had. On top of that, I'm out ~$500 and still don't have working window. read more
