Open set up with great ventilation. One of our friend that visited Korea said he felt like he was back in Korea! We ordered the large Special Mix Combo + pork jowl + boneless short ribs + steamed egg cheese You can taste the quality of the meats. Our favorite was the pork jowl. It was rich and fatty. Every bite of that was delicious. They also have great banchan and salad that pair well with the meats. Also, they have friendly staff that will cook the meats for you!! My boyfriend's family took me here for my birthday, and it was such an incredible experience. From start to finish, service was top notch. The vibe is so much fun, and I love that they cook the meat for you. You can also tell this isn't a standard KBBQ restaurant because the cuts of meat actually taste very good and unique, and every bite is delicious. Was definitely anticipating the open of this location and it did not disappoint! Service was amazing - waiters were attentive and quick, and food was great. We had a big party and tried the pork combo and beef combo. Most of the pork was consistent throughout the meal but the beef was hit or miss (surprisingly) the short rib and steak were the best but the last two that were part of the combo were subpar for the pricing compared to the rest in our opinion Restaurant was crowded, but clean and plenty of space between the tables. great meal every time I had this! this was probably my 6th time visiting and always left stuffed. The ban chans are amazing as well and you can order those as much as you like. We had the potato salad (i think) several times. service is fantastic as well. What was different here compared to other places was they switch and give you a new meat if they overcook it. Trying things for the first time turned out not to be the best for me. I ordered the Chilbun Dwaeji Kimchi. Must say it was delicious, but something in it didn't agree with me, and I spent the entire evening vomiting. I would definitely suggest asking what's in it, and make sure it's something that agrees with your stomach. The service was friendly and quickly, the place was nice and parking was a breeze. They're so short staffed the servers were are looking rushed and it's only 11am We ordered one of the meat combo and the meat were fresh!!! We ordered the pancake but it was mostly egg and onions. Based on the food, the food was pretty good for the food and price point. Quality of meats, steamed eggs with cheese, old fashioned lunch boxes, kimchi stew, and noodles were what we ordered. Saemaeul was one of the best Korean BBQ spots I've been to in DFW. Which is high praise considering the sheer volume of Korean BBQ restaurants in the metroplex. Ambiance is modern, lively, but not too loud. Everything felt clean and metallic. The food was exceptionally good. The japchae was the best I've ever had. The marinated beef short rib was among the best I've had. The spicy bulgogi was unlike I've had anywhere else and was indeed spicy. The service really stood out. The wait staff were very kind to my friend's 5 year old daughter and attentive to her needs (which were not unreasonable). The only major improvement that could be made is to serve the meat using coals instead of gas. The food was excellent notwithstanding this "nice to have." I'll keep this short but this is a relatively new non-AYCE kbbq spot that bears Mr. Paik's name (one of the judges on culinary class wars and a huge celebrity chef in Korea!). The meat quality was top notch and I love being spoiled when the servers cook for you. The boneless short ribs were to die for, and I also really liked the pork neck. Another Korean bbq spot in Carrollton - by the famous celebrity Korean chef Baek Jong-won. Great for smaller groups, seating is pocha style. There's not sauces like the other places. Mainly soybean paste. I like to use the soy, onion, and jalapeno sauce to dip Marinated meats are our faves. The lunch box with anchovies and spam is unique but a very original comfort dish in Korean culture. Weekends get busy but usually not more than a 20 min wait. read more

Saemaeul was pretty awesome! I came to try it out because of culinary food wars, and I would say the meat quality and sides are slightly better than Ari. The only difference is they don't have the corn cheese and the egg on the side of the grill. This is a non AYCE bbq place, but they have combos that you can choose from. You will still 100% be full after eating here with all the food you get outside of just the meat. The ambience is quite similar to the Carrollton Ari with the round table grills, but it's slightly moodier with darker lighting. Service was good and fast! They cook for you here so you don't have to touch the meat at all. They were attentive and have good recommendations. I would highly recommend giving saemaeul a try!! read more

Quality of the beef and authenticity are the strongest points of this eatery. We love the beef, side dishes (banchan) and how the staff grills the beef/pork to perfection in front of us. The only minus is because the exhaust fans from the ceiling are not configurable, for party that has more than 4 members, it maybe challenging to sit together. I was visiting my friend in Dallas, I got to try this place. I heard that saemaeul restaurant going to open in Dallas. Saemaeul restaurant was my favorite restaurant when I lived in Korea. So excited try this place with friends. I would give this place 4star if I tried only spicy pork bulgogi and dosirak. But give 2star from other menu. We ordered combo set I didn't remember which combo set but it was came out pork belly and spicy pork bulgogi and marinade beef and some of beef. Also ordered 3 of dosirak, one of kimchi soup. In Korea saemaeul restaurant famous menu was spicy pork bulgogi and 7mins kimchi soup. I only can Recommend spicy pork bulgogi and dosirak. Anything else wasn't good taste. Few days later I went to back this place for spicy pork bulgogi and dosirak. I only ordered that second visit time because I didn't want to disappointed again. Little slow served from busy but waiter and waitresses was so kind. Specialty waiter shakes our dosirak, it was so fun and he had a bit joke. Little loud from drink Alcohol dinner time. Wow I think this might've been the best KBBQ I've had in my life. We came on a Saturday night as a group of 3 and thought it would be packed with a wait, but the inside is very spacious and was seated immediately! We got the XL beef combo with soybean soup and everything was so so delicious. The salad was refreshing and the ban chan assortment had lots of options and was very tasty! I wish I took more pics of the meat but I was too busy eating and enjoying all the food! I think the XL was a good amount if I want to be reasonably full, but I think we could've ordered some extra meat dishes if we really wanted to but we decided the XL was enough. The service is absolutely amazing! Our servers came around and cooked the meat until perfection and we're very prompt every time they came around. Delicious food! Just don't be seated next to the restroom. My friend and I arrived before the other 4 so we came in and asked for a table for 6. It was around 7 PM and quite busy save for one row of tables. We got seated at the last big booth/table area that could sit 6, although it was right next to the restroom. That would normally be fine, but my friend and I did notice a slight bathroom/sewer smell during the meal, at least until the smell of meat cooking covered it up. I assure you, though, that the food was delicious! The sides were also delicious. Highly recommend the steamed cheesy egg and to ask for sesame oil along with your salt to dip the meats in (you'll probably end up asking for a lot more sesame oil and salt like our table did because it's such a good dip for the meat!). We got the XL beef combo and the special mix combo and it was a great amount of food. Overall, the food was 5/5 but the seating was 2/5 and the service was 4/5 as though I appreciate that they cook the food for you, when asked for drinks we just got water and had to ask after waiting a while for the water to come. And though the bottles for the water were nice, it was difficult for staff to know when they were empty so we were constantly asking for water. Lastly, I will add that a server ended up knocking over a bottle of water all over the table and me and one of my friends. Totally fine, it happens, but definitely didn't add to the experience, haha. Actually my first Korean BBQ experience.... I know, I know. Have I been living under a rock? Nah, but I'm happy to now be a part of the fanbase for this cuisine, cause it was definitely an enjoyable experience. Positives: Cool atmosphere! It just feels like a good time when you walk in. The telescoping vents over the tables are helpful and add a sweet aesthetic. Meat cuts were great. We ordered the Beef special and shared it between 3 people which was enough. It came with 2 bowls of rice, the kimchi/pork soup and the unlimited sides and sauces. Someone came back to grab some of our meat cuts and replace them with better looking cuts, so that was awesome. The kimchi soup is spicy, but super flavorful. The rice was cooked perfectly, as expected. The sides were nice: pickled radishes, a cucumber salad, a salad with a simple ginger dressing, potato salad, etc. Good stuff! We loved the garlic chili sauce, too. Service was speedy, as well. These folks are on it. Okay... on the flip side, they don't get 5 stars because for such an EXPENSIVE place, I thought we'd get more amiable service. It took us a while to get seated and the me helping us out seemed to be all having a bad night, and maybe they were. Also, there were lots of birthdays and every birthday comes with a small dessert, sparkler candle and the same, LOUD birthday song blasting over the speakers , which we heard 3 times in one hour. Maybe find some songs to cycle through? I'm all for having a good time, but I can only take so much of the same song, and there were lots of bdays that Friday night. I'm not even Korean and I'm starting to recognize this guy's face on a lot of restaurants and products. Mr. Jong Won-Paik. I see you slowly taking over the world. You're like the Korean version of Gordan Ramsey and I'm all for it. This place just recently opened and I don't know if it'll be this slow forever after the word gets out, but we came on a Sunday afternoon and there were only a few other customers in there. So good for us because we had very attentive service. We ordered the small mixed (pork and beef combo) and it was just the right about for my boyfriend and I. Yes, the quality is a lot better than most of the other KBBQ places nearby but what I really liked, just like what Allie Y. mentioned in her reviewed is that the marinated meat was SO incredibly good. It wasn't too sweet and not dripping in sauce and was probably my favorite meat which is rare considering I usually like the non-marinated meats the best. All of the sides were made very well, including our soup. And if you ask for rice, you get a big bowl of it which I loved. I was really impressed and honestly have no complaints. Again, I think it helped that it was slower and so we didn't have any issues with getting help with the grill and were constantly asked if we needed anything else. i was looking forward to trying this place out. as someone who moved to DFW from socal, i'm glad this place picked carrollton to be the second shop. the original location is in buena park, ca and was kinda surprised they would open up the second location in dfw. definitely not complaining though. This place reminds of me Baekjeong, which has locations all over socal. This place is NOT all you can eat, but the quality of meat and selections of banchan is far superior than typical all you can eat korean bbq joints. We ended up getting the small beef combo, and i'm glad we did. It was 80 bucks for three different types of meats. plus your choice of kimchi and soybean jjigae. of course you get your banchan.... we also ordered a small kimchi rice lunch box, which they will shake up in front of you. like i mentioned before the meat quality here is way better than the other all you can eat korean bbq spots. the short rib was by far the best tasting meat. it was so good, you didn't really need to use anything else (sauce wise) to enhance the flavor. The small is definitely good enough for 2 people, maybe 3 people. But i think for 3 people you may get a bit hungry. Protip: the seats (in the middle of the restaurants) can be lifted to store your purse or jackets or anything else, you help shield it from the smell or oils. read more

After watching culinary class wars, we saw that there is a restaurant owned by chef Paik in DFW and just had to try it. From reading reviews, it looks like the beef combo was the way to go. Some friends (sitting at another table) went with the assorted combo. Overall, if you are looking for quality of the meat, I would say the beef meat was more impressive than pork. The meat and banchan were delicious. They do grill the meat for us, but our waiter was not very communicative or friendly, and he made our friend finish the banchan from his plate before requesting a refill. I appreciate their ventilation system. Most of their seats are like stools with no back support. This is worth a try, but I would not say it's the best kbbq in town. read more

I've been a loyal repeat customer at Saemaeul for a long time, but my most recent visit was so disappointing that I won't be coming back. From the start, we were treated differently than every other table around us. We only received a partial set of banchan side dishes, and after asking multiple times for the rest, the server acted confused until we pointed out that every other table had them. Even then, she seemed reluctant to bring them out. It honestly felt like she was deliberately withholding the sides from us, which made no sense given how many times we've supported this restaurant. When we asked for a refill on one dish, we were told "only one and no refills allowed." At first I thought maybe there was a new policy, but then I noticed that other tables were being given refills without issue. At that point it became clear that we were being singled out, and it was very uncomfortable. The server was an older Korean waitress, and unfortunately it felt like we weren't being treated fairly because we are not Korean or don't speak the language. That has never been an issue before -- in the countless times we've eaten here, the staff has always been welcoming and kind to everyone. To be treated like we didn't deserve the same service as other customers was extremely confusing and disappointing. After years of loyalty to this location, I no longer feel comfortable returning. I hope management takes this seriously and ensures that every customer is treated with the same respect, regardless of who they are. read more
