Placed my first and possibly last order 9/15/17. I ordered the burnt ends since I'd heard about them when I was in the south, I was so excited about it until I picked up my order and made it home.They were soooo fatty, sitting in grease, and such a tiny container that usually fit a side dish, with a piece of texas toast, a few pickles & something that looked like it had fell apart possibly a hush puppy or corn bread ball and a waste of $9.00 plus tax. I was extremely disappointed and a total waste of my hard earned money. I would of rather donated that towards a worthy charity. read more

I was an athiest for almost 9 years before I stopped into this godly establishment but the food is just too divine not to be from above. Delectable brisket and brisket sandwhiches, and succulent sides. No matter what you do grab an order of pork rinds to go, you get like infinite of those sons o' guns for 2.25 and they are actually good and spicy. The employees are top shelf here, the staff is always super accommodating and happy. It seems like they actually care about their food and service and it shows in the quality of the delicious meats. Stopped here based on reviews after an MSU game. Small place with only like six tables. Staff was awesome and very attentive. Food was very good with perfect portion, not too little and when I was done I was comfortably full. Brisket was tender and flavorful as was the pulled pork. Three different sauces on each table make for good variety of flavors. Prices with meal, sides, and drinks are $12-15/person. I'll definitely return. read more

Went for the first time and had their tacos with chicken, pretty awesome. Mac and cheese as a side topped it off perfectly.

This place delivered in every way. The smoked meat and sauces are awesome - clearly a lot goes into it behind the scenes. The rest of the menu has simple sides but they are well thought out and delicious. I'd highly recommend. You'll see complaints of them running out of food and closing by 7 PM, but that's real BBQ folks. Pretty hard to fast-track a brisket. If you want to be guaranteed a rib sandwich at 10 PM, go to McDonalds. read more

The worst BBQ I have ever had across the many southern and Midwestern states I have visited. The staff (a guy) had the audacity to tell me how BBQ is served in the USA. Only because he works there does not make him an expert. Brisket was small 3 strips for ~$9 and the pulled pork sandwich was similar for a total of ~$20. The tiny side of cheese jalapeno cornbread was dry as a bone. The pickles the guy raved on about were 3 slices the size of a quarter. We were never more disappointed in an establishment as this. Lordy lordy I can't wait to get back here. Visiting our Spartan and so glad to have found this place. We each had a different meat and were all over the moon, from the brisket to the ribs, pulled pork and chicken. Finally made it in, and I can say Saddleback has is it figured out. A well executed lunch from the texture and taste of the brisket to the three sides (hand cut fries, chipotle pasta salad, and the Bernie's sweet potatoes). I visited this place last week. The ambiance was to my taste, and the staff was friendly. I had pork and brisket side of slaw. It was ok. The brisket was sliced a bit thin for my taste. I liked that the sauces came in reclaimed whiskey bottles, but they were not remarkable otherwise. The slaw was grey with black pepper, which I did not care for at all. I will admit I am only a medium spice guy, but coleslaw should be a cool creamy counterpoint to a spicy sauce, in my opinion. I think some of the other dishes looked interesting, like the chicken tacos, but for basic barbecue this is middle of the road. read more

I'm down to try any barbeque place and I'm glad my friend dragged me here a couple weeks ago. Good prices, and I loved the building and decor. Everything was AMAZING. I'm indecisive so I couldn't quite pin down which barbeque sauce was my favorite so I was dabbling in all of them for my tacos. The mac-n-cheese was phenomenal, and good enough to be a stand alone meal. The jalapeno corncake was a little sweet and a little spicy and something unexpected that really stole the show, and I love that they include that in the specials otherwise I probably wouldn't have tried it. Pulled pork and greens! Yum!! It was very busy with a long line but the line moved very fast and food was delivered to our table much faster than I expected. We all enjoyed our meals. By far the best BBQ IN LANSING! Very nice group of people running the joint I have only had the pleasure of trying their half rack of ribs however I was very intrigued when it was served dry rubbed with sauce on the side being somewhat of a grill junkie, I tend to enjoy the flavor of a dry rub, opposed to a piece of meat slathered in sauce. They really know how to infuse flavor, without taking the character away from the dish. The employees were really good. Welcomed us and informed us about the menu and meats. However, we were less than impressed with our chicken tacos. The portion of meat, corn tortillas and side offerings was not proportional to their price. Smallest portions compared to the competition. We had to add BBQ sauce to the meat to have any flavor. The micro scoop of jalapeno corn bread was okay and the smallest helping of pickles didn't allow for us to form any opinions. Nice place but I will go elsewhere. Best BBQ in town. The dry rub on the ribs is so good you don't need sauce. The pulled pork was perfect. I preferred the pork to the beef and chicken. My favorite side is the baked beans. I enjoyed having beers at the next door REO Town Pub - after we ordered the brought it over to us and we ate at the pub. Only negatives are that it is expensive ( but worth it), the run out of certain foods sometimes, and it can get crowded at lunch. Highly recommend this place. read more

I would rate the food at the top of my list with some of the best BBQ I have had and I could eat BBQ everyday. I had the 1/3 rack of ribs, brisket with coleslaw. My wife had the ribs, pulled pork and coleslaw and our two boys had the chicken tacos and fries. The meat was smoked perfectly, and the 3 sauce options were fantastic. Both boys loved the fries and tacos. The spicy pickles and crumbled jalapeño corn bread were amazing. We'll be back very soon. read more
