The interior is super clean and every worker here is super friendly. There are plenty of seats and tables that sit from 2-4 people. If you're planning on coming here in a big group of more than 4, please plan to sit apart. When you walk in, go ahead and take a seat and one of the workers will give you a menu. Disclaimer though...the menu is in Spanish so if you need any translations, don't hesitate to ask or ask for recommendations. That's what I did! After you have some time to look at the menu, go ahead and walk to the kiosk counter and order your food, pay, then sit back down and relax until your food comes. I ordered the Bucara Burger and water. They did charge me $2 for a bottled water so I just want to let you all know ahead of time. The burger was huge, hearty, and filling. It also came with fries which was crispy and it was topped off with cheese and a little of the sauce that they put on the side. The water was definitely necessary for me because the meal was on the heavier side. If you don't get water, I highly suggest getting a drink here though. In the end, I would come here again. It's great to support local and what I ate was delicious and I can't wait to come back to try other food on the menu.

To give some context, I had been struggling with depression and having a particularly difficult day. My husband thought getting me out of the house, taking a scenic drive to Bear Lake, and treating me to one of my favorite comfort foods, cheese dip from this restaurant, might help lift my spirits. The drive was beautiful despite the rainy weather, and for the first time all day I actually started feeling a little better. That feeling disappeared the moment we walked into the restaurant. The restaurant was not busy, yet my family stood at the host stand for quite a while without being acknowledged. Employees were nearby, but no one greeted us or even let us know someone would be with us shortly. While we were waiting, a server spoke with a gentleman behind the host stand. Immediately afterward, a group seated near the entrance was moved to a different table. We were then seated at the exact table they had just vacated. The silverware was still disheveled from the previous guests, and it became obvious why they had asked to move. Every time the front door opened, cold air blew directly onto the table. Seeing that there were at least eight or nine open tables throughout the restaurant, I politely asked our server if we could also move. Her response was that her boss said we could not. Thinking there must be some misunderstanding, I looked around at all the empty tables and asked if there really was not another table available. She explained it would be outside of her section. As someone who has worked as a server myself, I understand section assignments. However, this restaurant is very small, and the alternative tables were only a short distance away. It was not a matter of a long walk across a large dining room. The part that really bothered me was the attitude. The request was met with annoyance rather than understanding. After refusing, the server abruptly responded, "No, so what do you want to drink?" At that point, we decided to leave. We calmly gathered our three children and walked out. No one apologized, no one asked if there was a way to make things right, and no one seemed to care that a family was leaving. What makes this especially disappointing is why we came in the first place. We had driven 2.5 hours specifically to visit this restaurant because my husband was trying to help pull me out of a difficult slump. We were not looking for anything special, just a warm meal, a comfortable table, and a pleasant experience. Instead, we were treated like a nuisance for making a simple request in a nearly empty restaurant. I rarely leave negative reviews, but the combination of poor hospitality, dismissive service, and a complete lack of concern for the customer experience left a lasting impression, and unfortunately not a good one.

The previous reviews were planted by friends and family. Take that for what that is. So now you know. Just a reality check. I'll be kind. They are trying. They are trying to figure out how to run something other than their home kitchen. The chips were made in house but stale. They need to be made daily. Drink selection is lacking. Only 4 options plus some Mexico niche sugar waters. Not a diet option other than water. They use a small cubboard ice maker behind the counter. Place is empty. No one was there. My daughter happened on it by accident. It's hidden. Not sure it's a gem. It's in the back. If you think you're going back to the loading dock, you are not...but it would be a great location for one. So nope, the location is not optimal. English is not well spoken so expect delays or to use your best hand gestures. And for those of you that think that speaking slowly and loudly truly bridges the language barrier...yeah do that. The food was different. We'll see how it progresses through our systems. We've cleared our afternoon schedule. Not my favorite place. Maybe not a repeat. But it was made to order. That is why it took so freaking forever. The people are very very very nice. It really isn't Mexican food. They are from El Salvador so it's a bit of a mix. BUT.....if you are looking for Menudo, a traditional Mexican soup made from tripe (cow stomach) this IS the place. Buen provecho.
