Sooo disorganized. Our waitress was very scatterbrained and the one doing the north side of the main dining room wasn't any better. Our waitresses fingernail were either very dirty or stained, but very off putting. Took forever to get our food which was, at best, lukewarm and don't get me started on the portion size versus the cost. Then to get our check took forever as well. Sad to say but won't be back. Cool old building, but mediocre food and just not worth the $$. read more

ent to Idle Isle tonight for the 3rd time opening. The main course and the chicken tortilla soup were good but the supposed Idle Berry pie is beyond disappointing. I ordered it to go. When I got it home and opened the box I found a gelatinous mess filling the crust with maybe what might of have been 2 very small apple pieces. Not a single blueberry, blackberry or boysenberry. Topped with artificial whipped cream instead of the real whipped cream that Travis and the owners before him would serve. It ended up in garbage. We had gone to Idle Isle about 8 years ago and had a great experience. Recently we were headed back from SLC on a Saturday night about 7:00 and decided to go there again. Our experience this time was not very good. We ordered chicken fried steak and it was gristly and tough, and it had no flaver. We kept adding salt but it did little to improve it. The gravy was flavorless also, and the mashed potatoes had several 1 inch lumps in them. We actually wanted baked potatoes, but they were out of them. They were also out of rolls. We ordered drinks, but they did not bring them ahead of the meal, and we had to ask for them after our meals were brought. No refills were ever offered, maybe they don't do refills there? There were no paper towels in the bathroom. We mentioned it to the girl that seated us, but when we were leaving, out the back way, we saw that there still were no paper towels in that same bathroom. We are not from Brigham City, so we don't know if the cafe has new owners etc. but we have heard the business had been sold so perhaps these owners are new and just getting their feet under them. We thought they might give us a slight discount for having no rolls, as this is a major reason people go there,but none was offered. I don't think we'll go there again, but we hope things improve as that cafe has been there a long time, and that type of atmosphere is getting hard to find. read more

8/29/26 was not their day. Was way understaffed. Ice maker couldn't keep up so drinks had no ice. Dishwasher was either broken or behind, so no plates with rolls. Was at least 20 minutes after seating before receiving menus and 40 minutes before waitress came to take the food order. In that time, we'd seen no tables in the room receive their order. The writing for the rest of the evening was on the wall, so we didn't order and left. It's too bad. Back in the day Idle Isle was a quality place to go. Moved to Logan early 2025. Checking on line for all the old school type eateries that offer a good CFS like I used to get 70 years ago. Finally got a chance to try out Idle Isle (terrible name - means nothing). It was a Monday and one of only 2 days they served Hot Turkey Sandwich. Another dish hard to even get anymore so I tried that. BOY WAS IT DELICIOUS. Not brown, but light colored gravy made from the in house roasted turkey drippings with corn starch, real mashed potatoes with lumps. Right proper size thick toast. I had not had such a totally satisfying diner type meal in decades. I checked on line the end of the week to pick out my next visit and see the SLC newspaper article that the place had just closed down and that the employees hated working there. What a disappointment. A story I have told many times since last year about missed fortune as to Utah eateries. Then the word got to me that the place had reopened and they had the same menu. I hoped they had all the same recipes to go along with it. So last week made the drive over on a Monday with my mouth watering for another one of those Hot Turkey Sandwich meals. Never mind the dopey long haired hippy with no charm that seated us, or the scattered brain (but friendly) waitress that served us - the meal was only sadly only Denny's quality with routine tasting turkey with standard brown gravy and no cranberry sauce. Same for spuds - just typical restaurant quick made quality and thin toast. As far as going back to sample their CFS - NEVER MIND. I'll keep looking elsewhere. So far the best CFS has been the Rancher Cafe in Delta, Utah. But they don't do Turkey. read more

This was absolutely the worst business I have ever been to. We went for my Mother's 80th birthday as a group of 14, on a Friday night. The night started off poorly when myself and others tried ordering a baked potato as a side and were informed that was not available because it had not been prepared that night by the staff. My sister tried ordering 3 different menu options, all were "not available". I ordered a rib eye steak medium. Twenty minutes after everyone else had their food, my steak finally came, medium well. I notified the waitress and she said she'd let them know. Out walks a man, who then proceeds to tell me my steak is cooked exactly as I ordered it and he'll show me a picture of how a steak cooked medium should look. My family member sitting next to me also ordered her steak medium, hers was actually pink, mine was not. He then started to pull his phone out to prove to me, I was wrong. My brother told him to put his phone away, my steak was overcooked, period! He left, but was not done with me yet! As we were all gathering to take a family picture he returned and pulled me aside to again show me a picture of what my steak should look like. Yet even his picture showed pink, of my steak had any pink, it was the tiniest bit of pink you've ever seen. In all this commotion I also found out that my sister did not have any cheese on her Malibu chicken. Yet this cook proceeded to tell me that they take great pride in their food and he was showing me that my steak was cooked to the standard it should have been. My brother in law told this man to leave me alone and drop it. My sister told him she tried ordering 3 different things and they didn't have them. His reply was there will always be shortages. My sister then told him it was done and over, leave us alone. I'm a very understanding person. I don't like to complain if my food isn't up to par. But this was bad even for me. The waitress we had was so nice! Yet this man ruined everything about this experience for everyone! When you're paying a lot of money for food it should be prepared in a way that you're like. Really it should just be prepared like it states on the menu. To order a simple Malibu chicken and not have a slice of cheese is ridiculous! To see that this place has this high of a rating is appalling! Clearly it's because there's not a lot of places to eat in Brigham City! Because of this place was in a bigger city, it would be black listed instantly! Especially with a cook who comes out and argues with customers who aren't satisfied with his cooking. I didn't want to give up on this place because I love the old timey feel and the fact that I used to really enjoy it, so I tried them again, and I'm happy to report... they definitely improved. The service is wayyyy better and so is most foods. Some are still not as good as they used to be, like the French onion soup and apparently most soups, but the rest we tried were very good. Good for them and us. Now we have another place to dine out again here in Brigham. read more

We attended a private party here on a Wednesday. They are usually closed but the owners catered our private party. Our choices for dinner were, salmon or prime rib with mashed, baked or fried, freshed corn, rolls and peach cobbler. My husband loved the salmon. I don't eat prime rib or seafood, so I enjoyed a salad and mashed potatoes with gravy. They were very good. The peach cobbler was, meh. It had a weird taste so we did not like it. The ice cream was great. The decorations were very old and interesting to look at. My Dad loved the Ilse. read more

Amazing food the cowgirl burger so good with fried pickles and pepper jack. The sweet potato fries so yummy with a crisp outside and soft fluffy inside. The idle berry pie so good it should be illegal. The service so friendly a down home feel. The owners are super sweet. The iconic building and ambiance of stepping back in time to simpler times. Where the day slows and you can have a nice conversation over dinner with out the rush. Definitely if you in box elder county stop in Brigham city and check it out. We had the most amazing time during our visit to Idle Isle Cafe today!!! The service was the best I've experienced in any restaurant in years, and I was so impressed with the way the owners were so welcoming and friendly with all of their customers. The food was absolutely delicious!! I loved the pot roast, and the serving size was enormous!!! The fried cheese appetizer was also stellar, and more than enough to feed a hungry party of 4. Other table favorites were the soup, schnitzel, and the burgers were delicious!!! Five stars is not enough for this jewel of a restaurant. I'd give them 10 if I could!!! Hard to believe it's been 3 yrs since my last Idle Isle review. Friend and I enjoyed a leisurely Saturday meal, me with the Pork Schnitzel and kraut. Service was very friendly and polite, as usual. Was disappointed my favorite hot potato dish had been removed from the menu, but I guess nothing stays the same forever. :) Also ordered Beef Stuffed Rolls to go for husband; thankfully those were available. Love the small town restaurant vibe. Customer service was spot on. Started with fresh served rolls that were soft and warm. Next was the cheese curds that tasted like ooey cheesey goodness. The crispy onions rings with hot onion inside, pickles were crispy and hot. The spicy ranch with them was extra yummy. Cowgirl Kate was super juicy with the pepper jack cheese and the spicy ranch was yummmy!! Chicken strips were hot with two sides. Mashed potatoes with a touch of garlic- yummmmm. This is the second time in as many weeks that we have eaten at Idle Isle. Both times the service, food and atmosphere were amazing. We like the "old time" feel of the restaurant, and it is quiet enough that you can actually have a conversation. Last week I dropped my leftover container and the roast beef spilled out of the container. The owner offered to get me another container, I declined, but he came running after us out on the street with a new container. When I got home, I think there was more roast beef in my "take home" than I originally got. So nice!! Today we decided to have lunch there. My husband had the Ruben Sandwich and I had a grilled chicken salad. Both were delicious, mounds of corned beef on the Ruben, and I had tons of salda and a whole grilled chicken breast along with cheese, hard boiled egg, beets and deliciious crutons. We will be coming back again and again as we live in the area. read more

Charming local cafe with incredibly nice waitstaff and terrific food. My 1st visit I enjoyed the cowboy bison burger with idleberry bread pudding. Wow! My 2nd visit I enjoyed the best homemade onion rings ever then the meatloaf special which was a generous serving but I had to take the delicious idleberry cream pie to go as there was no room left on my stomach. I can't wait to come back. The onion rings are huge and thick cut and made for sharing!!! I have traveled much of the world and I dub these "World's Greatest Onion Rings"!!!! read more

Simply live the toffee crème candies! I was introduced to these by my step mother and have been ordering them on line since.

It's like eating food at grandmas house. The service is great. The owners gave my wife a tour of all the historic stuff and shared photos of the ghosts that reside there. It's so much fun! It's like dining in the same candy store that was there in 1910. Same benches, chandler's. What a great place to eat and relax. read more

Unfortunately, Idle Isle has fallen off of our list of regular reccomendations. The service is kind, there is no doubt about that. They are the reason that 3 stars are given. The owners are.. interesting. The main qualm, and reason we have stopped reccomending Idle Isle though, is the food. The quality of food has seemingly gone down. A very pleasant experience all around! The ambiance is warm, the food was great, and the servers were friendly. The French Dip was piled with delicious meat, the Philly Cheesesteak had great flavor and the berry pie was amazing - made with real berries. We had a lovely and interesting chat with the owners FIL and it was a great place between Ogden and Logan to stop in for a unique experience. Located in the heart of Brigham City is this quaint cafe. The service was phenomenal. We were greeted with smiles and warm welcomes. The server and owner/manager were very kind and the manager thanked us sincerely multiple times for coming in. It was sweet and such a joy to see that gratitude in this hard time. I am grateful for them. The food was good. I got the salmon, mashed potatoes, and vegetables. I wished the vegetables were more than just peas and carrots, but the salmon was glistening and flaked right onto my fork. I highly enjoyed the soft and flaky salmon. We stopped here for lunch while driving home to Phoenix. We had meatloaf, delicious. Good quality homecooked food, generous portions. Servers friendly and attentive. Save room for pie, it was excellent. I usually don't eat dinner rolls but theirs are so good so I ate the whole thing. Restaurant is over 100 years old in very old building. Quaint and nicely decorated. Highly recommend Idle Isle! read more
