My protein bowl lettuce was dotted with slime. It took a couple of tries to get our order ( of 8 meals) correct. Most notable was the flies! They were so horrible on the patio we asked to be moved indoors. Unfortunately they were just as pesky inside. Cafe Sabor in Logan has gone from one of my favorites to never again. My takeout order yesterday was a huge disappointment. The enchiladas were shorter, thinner, and flatter than they used to be, and the filling (cheese in two, shredded beef in one) was so thin that the flavor didn't even come through. It was like eating tortillas with only enchilada sauce. They also used to be generous with the sides, but not anymore...just four normal bites of refried beans. When I called the manager today (wanting to work it out rather than write a review), he was unwilling to work with me and then hung up on me. read more

This is a changed review from a previously poor review that I wrote. This place wants to earn your business and wants you to have a good dining experience. We had a lunch date today with many of my family. I didn't like a few things and instead of addressing it directly with the staff, left a poor and to be honest less tasteful review. Before we left the executive chef and the manager came out with a gift card and made the situation right. We will definitely be back to eat here. Maybe not at this location since we're from out of town, but we have another location where we live. I felt very valued and like they wanted us to have a good experience and would do anything and be willing to do the extra to make that happen. Let's start with the "ok" part, then I'll launch into the "full-Karen" story of how this place nearly killed my grandma. The salsa was good, nice heat. The rest of the food was ok. The rice was under-flavored, the beans were fine - the main dish was so-so, served lukewarm blah, blah, blah. But then there's how the restaurant was the cause of my grandmother's fractured ribs - and nobody seemed to care. Now... **adjusts Karen-wig** We took my 92 year old grandma there for lunch - we were being seated in the rear, but there was no marker on a pretty steep step down. She didn't notice the step - fell, and spilled into a booth, landing on her knees. She was very upset, but seemed ok after she calmed down, however she wanted to tell someone they should have a railing or... at least a yellow/black warning of the step showing on the floor like is very common everywhere. Most of the staff notably - management, became very scarce. She asked to speak to the manager. She was told the manager was... "very busy." A manager finally did come at the end and she asked them to place some signs or something, alerting people to the step. His response was, "Well... it's not like I'm the owner or anything. I can give feedback to the owner, but this isn't really up to me." K - that may be the case - but saying, "I'm so sorry, we will make sure SOMETHING gets done," shouldn't be that much to ask. We asked my grandma if she wanted to leave and go to the doctor - she said no, she wanted to try and eat. She tried, but couldn't. We were about 10 min into the meal when the server came up and said, "Are you ready for the check?" Ok, apparently they want us out and fast. It was lunch and not busy - but they seemed eager for us to go away. Then we said something that made my grandma laugh a little, but then she screamed - she told us her ribs really were hurting when she laughed. We started to get more worried. She said she wanted to try and stand up. We helped her up and she screamed and asked us to call an ambulance. My mom rushed up and asked them to call 911. The guy said "What? You want US to call?" Acting bothered at the request to CALL 911. He said, "Umm, I've never had anything like this happen before? So... i dunno if that's really our responsibility." My mom said "NEVER MIND... I got it, I'll call". The guy said "Well... I don't know what to do...". She called, they asked the address my mom asked him, and he again acted all put out and begrudgingly gave out the address. I guess simply being a fellow human isn't enough for most people. Who the hell doesn't immediately start dialing 911 when being told to call? It's a good thing this was at best, a strain - but possibly a break - and not a heart attack or something that was "that kind of emergency," but seriously - at 92, anything can quickly end up as "that kind of emergency." BUT!!! They were SUPER quick to make sure the check was paid before the ambulance got there! Like... we weren't looking for a free meal. None of us live anywhere close, so we weren't (and aren't) looking for a comp anything - just some compassion and a "we'll do something to prevent this from happening to someone else." I'm literally sitting at the hospital, waiting to find out how bad this is. It's not like someone tripped her - but you'd have almost thought it was OUR fault they didn't have a clearly marked hazard. Please update and mark your hazards, and some SUPER basic training for the staff on "how to handle a possible emergency," gifting them with groundbreaking ideas like, "When someone says to call 911, you should be dialing before you're asking questions," and "if there's any kind of accident, a manager should be there immediately to make sure everyone is ok." Maybe even a training on, "How to at least pretend you have a soul and care about your guests." Post Script to this whole nightmare? She broke 5 ribs and had to stay in the hospital, had to arrange hotel rooms and a stay in Logan. Sorry to have been such a bother to your staff... We won't be returning. read more

How can you not have fish tacos??? The rice was over seasoned as was the red sauce. The meat on the taco salad was too fatty and was inedible. I gave you 3 stars until I remembered the fatty meat. Keep looking for another Mexican restaurant, even if you have to go to another city! UPDATE Thank you for your quick response! However, I am not a big salmon fan and tilapia is the worst fish on the market. The meat we had on the salad was beef. We told the server but they just said it was the way the beef was cut. Had the special, Steak Fajitas, for dinner. Not good. Very little meat and peppers and an over abundance of onions. When it arrived at our table the meat and onions were drenched in a red watery. It looked more like soup than it did fajitas. I've been here before and the fajitas looked nothing like this. Margarita machine was broken, so no frozen margaritas. I was grossed out by the lack of sanitary precautions, disappointed by the food, and left in a bad situation because they didn't finish half my order. Not one employee had a mask on. Only about 10% of the customers coming in had a mask on and everyone is clustered together by the door waiting to get in. No social distancing. I didn't see waitstaff or chefs using hair nets or gloves. I had a large order, nothing insane just feeding my crew. I ordered ahead online and called as soon as they opened to make sure they received and could complete the order in time. When I showed up there was no host at the front for ages and when she finally came out, 20 minutes after the time I specified that I needed my food by, she said that they were still working on it. They overpacked the bags and poorly secured the lids so it made a mess of my car. When I finally got back to work I was late feeding everyone and had to run back to get them to make the rest of the food. After all the hassle the food tasted bad. I've never really had a bad experience with Cafe Sabor. Each time has usually been very good. Some days the food will be better than others but it's never bad. Isaias was our server today, and he was excellent!! He was friendly, polite, courteous, and always made sure that we had everything we needed and that our water stayed full. The manager on shift today Ben came out and asked us how everything was, which was very nice. That tells me that they really care about their customers and how they are being treated and served. Average at best. Food gave me the runs, which means MSG. Service was pretty awful. A couple who walked in after me got helped before I did. I was ignored for more than five minutes. I had been here before and had a delicious steak burrito and assumed all the food would be good. Big mistake. The fajitas were disgusting. Instead of being steak, sautéed vegetables and seasonings- it came out as this gross tomato paste encrusted thing. The vegetables and sauce that covered the steak was way more like an Italian dish. Unfortunately the staff was pretty busy and forgot about us for a while, but the GM ended up taking care of our table, which was nice. The steak fajitas my husband had weren't that great and my carne asada burrito didn't have much meat in it. My picky brother really enjoyed the Mango Shrimp and my mom enjoyed her Pollo Durango. The appetizer guacamole was expensive but really tasty. Matt rocked! My wife got here first and ordered while I came late from work. Last time I didn't love the quesiddla, but I think that was just my taste that night. She ordered the meat well done and it was perfect. So I tried the carne asada mushroom quesadilla again and WOW! Loved it so much!!! Wish I had double the appetite cause it was so big I only got thru half of it! The wife had enchiladas and they got the job done. Was expecting decent Mexican food. What we got instead was, well something else. The ground beef burrito was instead a semi-flat mashed pinto bean burrito with finely ground rice and meat that looked as if it came out a baby food jar topped with a teaspoon of sour cream and avocado a little red sauce and some cheese. Another dish was supposed to be shrimp ceviche. However, it looked was actually chopped white fish instead of actual shrimp. Another dish was grilled salmon which was overcooked and should have been labeled salmon jerky. Perhaps the best recommendation I can give, besides eating elsewhere, would be to the chef - go to Arizona or Texas or S. My wife and I had dinner here recently and didn't have a great experience. We both really love Mexican food, our "go-to" sit down choice when we go out. We both ordered fajitas, which is also a norm for us, something we both eat a lot of. I got mine with meat and she had vegetarian. She got a plate of vegetables that was 80% onions, sprinkled with some peppers & other things. We unfortunately didn't like the fajita sauce, had a marinara consistency.
