My wife and I had dinner here recently and didn't have a great experience. We both really love Mexican food, our "go-to" sit down choice when we go out. We both ordered fajitas, which is also a norm for us, something we both eat a lot of. I got mine with meat and she had vegetarian. She got a plate of vegetables that was 80% onions, sprinkled with some peppers & other things. We unfortunately didn't like the fajita sauce, had a marinara consistency. Best guacamole in town, zesty with fresh chunks of avocado topped with just the right amount of cilantro. Their chips are perfect, not salty like other places and they bring out a mild as well as a spicy salsa to accommodate different tastes. I ate at Cafe Sabor today and was beyond pleased with my experience. It's the day after Christmas and it was very busy. Despite the rush and being under staffed, we were seated quickly and helped right away. Our food came shortly after and it was absolutely amazing. I was extremely impressed. We had heard such mixed reviews on Cafe Sabor that we decided to try it for ourselves rather than bank on others' opinions. It was a mediocre experience at best, unfortunately. The service was fine, though I did notice the hostess going back and forth from handling menus and making tortillas without washing her hands, and touching her face, nose, and mouth without washing her hands before returning to tortilla-making. I was more than a little grossed out. We ordered their carne asada steak, which was stellar, and husband ordered a creamy chipotle burrito, which was inedibly bad. The sauce tasted like feet, and the burrito contained at least ten ingredients which weren't included in the menu description--husband is fairly picky, and he would never have ordered it if he knew it contained squash (really, in a burrito?). We took it home and pawned it off on someone else, because we certainly weren't going to eat it. The carne asada steak was fabulous, and it was a real shame that it was the only highlight of our evening out. The salsas they serve with their fresh chips are pretty good, a little undersalted. I wouldn't voluntarily go back--there are too many other places that are solidly and consistently good to risk another mediocre meal. read more

I'm guessing someone figured out that Chi-Chi's means "Tits" in Mexican so that's why there's no Chi-Chi's and we have Cafe Sabor instead. But it may as well be Don Pablo's or Something Fresh-Mex or whatever. This place is the embodiment of Texmex, or California-Style Americanized Mexican Food (whatever that means, I've been to L.A.) or something. We had the veggie fajitas and a taco salad sin carne. The fajitas were passable, but they weren't creative enough to figure out how to make the taco salad entrée substantial without the meat and cheese and sour cream. So basically it was a big plate of romaine lettuce with a schmear of beans and rice. I can make a better taco salad in my sleep. I can also make a salsa that doesn't taste like Prego, one that actually includes chiles. That means spicy in American. Perhaps I should have gotten the Vallarta Burrito. However, despite the fact that I'm a sucker for real vegetables in Mexican cuisine, there is no such thing as burrito sauce. I refuse to acknowledge its existence. I would give an extra star for the uncharacteristically decent interior design, no-bullshit and efficient service, halfway decent rocks margaritas, and fresh (albeit, flour) tortillas. Wait, no. I get that we're in Utah and this town is 83.9% white, and a lot of that 83.9% is going to think Cafe Flavor is the bee's knees. But also, this place is 13.9% latino. Also, this place has Tandoori Fucking Oven. Therefore, no excuse for this mediocrity. Anything this pedestrian deserves a resounding meh, despite a handfull of... eh. whatever. read more

This place has good food it wasn't overly expensive the staff is friendly and seems very busy! I would of given this place 5 stars 2 things 1. They need better parking when there stupid busy it's really hard to find parking! That's a big issue in my book if I end up being a return customer or not. 2. The bathroom was freezing you guys need heat in the bathroom my wife said even the woman's was cold too. It was warmer out side in the snow and cold than in your bathrooms! We like the location of Cafe Sabor, but the food? Not so much. It's boring, and typical, and there is nothing fabulous about it at all. So, Cafe Sabor is sort of like your big chain El Torito or Acapulco's - the food is okay, generic, huge portions, nothing special. Eating at Cafe Sabor is sort of like watching an episode of Home Improvement - you won't remember a single thing about it afterward, but for the 30 minutes or so it takes you to down the 3-item combo, you'll enjoy it just fine. So, why am I giving Cafe Sabor 4 stars? Because their outdoor dining is very nice during the summer. In the evening, you get to sit outside and enjoy the dusk. Why is it that there are no other dining establishments in this city that have outdoor seating??? So, go to enjoy the patio. The food is good enough. read more

The first time we went here, I was on a dairy free diet. They were very accommodating and the food was pretty ok.We decided to try it out again a few months later, and the food was extremely disappointing, we both decided never to eat there again. Well... About a few weeks or a month later, we noticed a charge on our debit card in the amount of $10 even. I thought it was my husband, but we are pretty good about budgeting, and he always tells me if they eat out at work. He said he hasn't eaten there, so I let it slide. I'm not sure what I could have called cafe Sabor and said anyway, I can't prove that we weren't there since they had my card information. I thought the charge was really strange, most things don't end just$10. THEN I come across a post on the hj news website where someone commented about how Cafe Sabor tries to make all of their money match up to what it should, so they charge small amounts on cards hoping no one notices. Well, it happened to me and I can not believe anyone else supports this Shady company. They get absolutely no support from me ever again. I hope everyone else will see how this company truly runs its business. They don't deserve to be in business. read more

It's accessible, easy to please, and run of the mill. However, the Thursday night meal of a burrito and a drink is appropriate for a college town, and is *well* worth the price. The service is always on point, and tonight was no exception. Our waitress (Emily) was very kind, attentive, and patient with the table. I ordered a margarita and while it dusted the cobwebs of too many Thursday meetings it was somewhat flavorless. The building is pretty cool. The old train station feel is represented well, and adds to the feeling of the meal. Sabor is worth visiting, and it will remain on the rotation for Cache Valley eat outs, but I wouldn't use it for any notable evenings. *Perfect for friendly get togethers, casual nights out, groups, and good times. Cafe Sabor serves the only Tex-Mex/Americanized Mexican food in town with any flavor. Mind you, the menu is somewhat hit and miss, but stick with local favorites and you usually won't go wrong. Some I enjoy are their Pollo Durango, mango shrimp, carne asada, spinach artichoke dip and flan for dessert. Fellow diners have recommended their shrimp enchiladas and coconut soup as well. Here I prefer to order dishes that come with fresh tortillas on the side so I can fix tacos the way I like them, and more warm tortillas are free, just ask. They have tasty fresh chips and salsa too. Service has improved here recently. Last two visits we were served perfectly by a server that was new to us. He was very genuine and friendly. Over the years, I've complained about service here, so I'm hoping this means they've turned a new leaf. Lastly, their patio on a summer evening is just wonderful. Inside the old train station has a cozy, casual feel, but can feel cramped when busy. --The polarized reviews here really confuse me. Do some have an agenda? I don't know. But Cafe Sabor is head and shoulders above the other two Tex-Mex players in town. They're not even in the same ballpark. Woah. This place has gone down hill. First off, there was a server walking around with her hair down, I don't know much about restaurants but I think I know hair in food is a bad start. The employees were all in the corner of the patio area listening to music pretty loudly. It didn't seem to me like anybody was actually working. I have never seen so many employees on their phones. Does this place even have a management staff? The employees were just loud and unproductive. The food was okay, kind of bland but this place used to be a bit more professional and it's lacking in that arena, take your money to El Toro. read more

The guy who appeared to be the manager, Matt, seemed quite irritated that we requested to sit outside. We literally waited 20 minutes for our actual server to acknowledge our presence. In the mean time, we were able to snag another server to at least get some glasses of water. We ordered drinks and food from the other server before we even met our ACTUAL server. And to think that he's going to get our tip is pathetic. The manager, Matt, sat someone who appeared to be an employee (off shift) right next to us and then decided to wait on them. He never let them run out of drinks and came back VERY often. Completely oblivious to the fact that we existed and were out of drinks and water. First we come in and the ambience reminds me of a tropical restaurant located in Virgin Islands. We were seated quickly. Upon our arrival to our table, there are free chips and salsa. I love free items!!! I ordered the Tacos al cabron and my hubby ordered a chimichanga. The food reminded me of a mixture between Southwestern and Mexican. My personal opinion it was not authentic Mexican but more Americanized. This does not mean the food was bad, it was still good. If you want authentic Mexican, I suggest La torments, Paco's tacos, or king tacos. all the restaurants I mentioned above are local in Logan and are fraction of the costs.
