Lomo Saltado

Food was delicious, service was amazing. I attended this restaurant with a large group of friends and I had the Lomo Saltado. There were no food left on any of of my friends plate because it was so good. 10/10.

The food was actually very delicious, and the presentation was so pretty. I don't think I've ever been served a rice pyramid lol. The meat was very flavorful and my plantains were perfect! I prefer my plantains on the sweeter side and these did not disappoint! I had never had Peruvian beans and while different they were quite delicious! I do recommend them but just keep in mind this place is a little on the pricey side for a small restaurant. Worth it, but pricey. I didn't mind paying I just wasn't expecting the $100 price tag. (Expensive is not a bad thing, but i think you should get a heads up!) Oh I also tried the Inca cola lol and it reminded me of a thumbs up but with a slight after taste worth trying something new!

I want to start by saying the food was absolutely delicious. However, the prices were OUTRAGEOUS. Don't be deceived by the modest, hole-in-the-wall location--we spent $75, including tip, for just two plates, oh, and there are no refills on their drinks. We ordered the Lomo Saltado, which tasted great, but it only had about seven pieces of steak and cost $27. Initially, we thought these prices were standard for Peruvian cuisine, but after checking out other Peruvian restaurants nearby, we found much lower prices. For example, Peru Cafe Express is highly rated, and their Lomo Saltado is only $17.50 with much more generous portions. I've been to Peru Cafe and def recommend that place over this one. We also got a shrimp soup that was tasty but also priced at $27. While the food was good, the prices and location were insane. If there prices were reasonable at the least I would have given 4 stars.

Second time coming this week, I'm visiting from NY and I've try Peruvian food before, but this one is my top top!! I had the fish croquets and chicken chaufa and the flavor goes beyond amazing. They serve lunch with a small soup. A delicious soup. Definitely coming back

So usually I review the foods in Spring Branch since I was born and raised here. This Peruvian Restaurant is absolutely delicious and stellar beans came with the seco de carne. It's cozy, they had a large fan blowing inside but it kept you cool/comfortable in this Houston weather. It's simple and prices vary from 6-18 dollars but the taste of it is one of a kind. Service was quick and friendly. Just raise your hand and they come to attend you. I would gladly come back here anytime.

I have been eyeing Pacha Nikkei for the longest time and finally got the chance to go during lunch…read more They are located in westchase area in Houston and specialize in Japanese Peruvian fusion. I believe the chef also cooks for the Peruvian embassy here sometimes in Houston. The inside of their restaurant is decorated in a very intimate way with cultural aspects from the two countries. You already know I HAD to get ceviche when coming to a Peruvian restaurant. I got the ceviche chalaco, which includes mahi-mahi, octopus, shrimp, racoto-aji leche de Tigre, choclo, sweet potato puree, cancha, topped with fried cuttlefish. It has a nice citrus flavor and the leche de Tigre base is soo good. I actually really liked the mahi-mahi, and the fried cuttlefish was fried to perfection with the fish inside still being soft and delicious. That sweet potato puree really elevates the dish as well, it helps counter the citrus flavor but adds another dimension of flavor. My friend got the lomo saltado and it was so so good. The beef was so tender and easy to chew. The soy-oyster sauce they use makes this dish soooo so good. I love the steak fries drenched with the sauce too. I got the arroz con Mariscos. I remember they used to put squid ink in the rice back then. They infuse the rice with aji Amarillo (green pepper sauce?) and top it with shrimp, clams, mussels, octopus, cod, and sarza criolla (vinegar onions). It's basically a seafood paella. This was actually pretty mild in flavor compared to the lomo saltado. The rice was good and almost creamy like but I don't think I was a fan of the corn/bean like pieces in the rice? The seafood itself was good as well, especially the shrimp. If you come here you need to for sure get the ceviche and lomo saltado. They also have sushi rolls that you can order as well, they seem like very unique ones too

This time I called in an order for tallarines saltados and two whole chickens for my family. They told me it would be ready in an hour, which was fine. When I arrived to pick it up, the owner handed me the food and casually said he replaced my tallarines with lomo saltado -- without asking me first. He said it was "a better choice" and that they were out of tallarines. I told him clearly that I did not want lomo saltado, but he kept insisting, so I just took it to avoid arguing. When we got home, the real problem started -- both chickens were undercooked, tough, and hard to chew. It was so bad that I told my kids and family not to eat any of it, and I ended up throwing everything in the trash. I paid good money for this meal, and we didn't get to eat at all. Changing an order without consent and serving raw chicken is not acceptable. I won't be coming back.

Why it took me so long to get here however is a mystery to me because it's a lovely restaurant. I don't mean by that the ambience it's actually rather plain however the service and the food is absolutely spectacular. I'm by no means an expert in Peruvian food however the patrons were buying for Peruvian hence I'm going to take their presence as a statement about authenticity of the food and a 12 year history. They don't sell alcohol so all of their profits are from dishes, which are absolutely spectacular. We had something a kin to an empanada, which was made with beef deep fried, but the crust was very white and very flavorful. The server gave me a side dip which added some spice to the meal however, before putting it on, I ate some without the dip and it was very flavorful. Potatoes, rice and beans are a large part of Peruvian cuisine all of which I tasted here all of which were very, very good. We got basically a sampler tray which included ceviche beef, chicken, and a potato bean combination, which was just wonderful. The waiter was kind enough to point it out to us and I'm glad he did because it was a great overview of what Peruvian food is. Since I'm not familiar with the cuisine rather than spend a great deal of time addressing it what I'm going to tell you is, it is a wonderful restaurant, the service is equally wonderful, BYOB and enjoy yourself. I will not let so much time go again before I revisit this fine Restaurant. It was a pleasure.
