    Chicken empanada
    Jenny W.

I ordered 125 empanadas (50 chicken, 45 cheese, 30 beef) for a school bake sale and they were selling out so quickly. Students were loving them, especially the chicken and beef. I did had a little problem when placing the order over the phone. The lady answering did not understand English (Spanish only) and told me to hold on. Then hanged up. I called again, but the same thing happened. I had to get my Spanish speaking friend to order for me. Each empanada is $1. They deliver and do not accept cards over the phone.

We were greeted and said we could sit anywhere and told no yellow rice and chorizo. Except for decor a mural of Old San Juan nothing authentic but we are here for the food. Ordered chorizo and maduros Empanadas appetizer tripeleta sandwich with side of tostones. Wife had Mofongo with shrimp. Empanada was really good never had that combo before so good start. Triplelta is steak pork and chicken and super soft hero/pan bread. Nice flavor tostones were big and were accompanied by a garlic white sauce. I like just ajo in oil which they did not have. Wifes mofongo was a little salty as were the jumbo shrimp in white sauce. She did receive a wonderful citrus dressing which she used on the little salad which she loved. We took most of it home since we were not looking to fill up prior to the casino. Saw a few people order takeout not sure if that makes up a large part of business or not. My wife and I have been in hospitality for 30 years and if you see a new face wouldn't you want to welcome them and thank them for trying out the restaurant? I think so. Not sure if it was owner or manager but he spoke to the one other table throughout our meal. I think he missed an opportunity to talk with us about our experience. Waitress spoke only English which is stark contrast to every Spanish restaurant in Brooklyn where we lived for 30 years. My wife is Puerto Rican so she was looking for that connection to no avail. So to close the food was decent but not sure I would make the trip back. We will keep trying til we find a real Spanish restaurant.

These had a lack of that, The alcapuras were nice and crispy and had flavor, but one seasoning used was unfamiliar, and they didn't need to add it. As per my sofito burger that had avocado, fried cheese, some sort of aioli really wasn't a marriage for me. It did not all go together. The ground meat was too thick and bland. I guess if you're starving, it'll taste good. Yuca fries were thick and hard. My husband's entree was better tasting but wasn't hot. The parcha juice was a 10/10.

It's a very casual, cafeteria-style spot with a semi-open kitchen, but don't let the simplicity fool you -- the food is incredible and the staff here is friendly and patient. The highlight of the experience is the small buffet that features a variety of freshly-made Latin cuisine -- including pulled pork, chicken and beef stews, and other traditional Latin entrees and sides. You can build your own plate by selecting one or more entrees and sides - which are priced accordingly. As a 'gringo' who wasn't entirely sure what everything was, I really appreciated them taking the extra time to explain all the different options and give me their honest recommendations. The counterstaff is bilingual and were pretty patient with my elementary school level Spanish vocabulary and grammar. I ended up going with the pulled pork platter with two sides ($7) and it was terrific -- the perfectly seasoned and tender pork, black beans and rice, and macaroni salad were delicious and very filling. You can tell they use fresh ingredients, and the portions are very generous for the price. If you're looking for authentic, home-style Latino food in a laid-back setting, this is the spot! PRO TIP #1: Bring a bottle of wine or beer from home to enjoy with your meal. Sazon Latino is a BYOB establishment and does not serve alcohol. PRO TIP #2: Sazon Latino offers free off-street parking in a small lot behind the restaurant and there's plenty of free on-street parking on Main Street.

A good recommendation to sip along with a tremendous meal. One note: the medium rare was closer to black and blue, and the medium was closer to medium rare. It may depend on the chef, but if you are between temp levels, take the over. I could have come here for dinner every night and been very happy. Plenty of amazing looking items on the menu.

The bread came out first, nice and warm, which was a great start to the meal. We ordered the empanadas, and the meat was delicious, though they definitely could have used a sauce on the side. I also got the soup, which was very tasty. Unfortunately, my main dish lacked flavor. The portion size was good about six pieces but it just didn't have much seasoning. Oddly enough, the onions were the best part of the plate. Overall, I enjoyed the atmosphere and service, and I'd come back to try the seafood next time.

I could get the same is not more food on my school campus for $2-$4, cheaper. Like i said the food is digestible and it's convenient to get it while I wait for the bus on my way to school. What I did not appreciate is how loud the tv was when I was trying to order. Other than the language barriers both of my server had, they lack of customer support or mannerism. What really made me write this review was because, as i was leaving the store after getting bad customer service, I stopped to see what all the noise on the TV was about and my server change the channel on me as a customer as I became interested in the infomercial. Additionally she looks at me straight on my as I turned to look at her and she did not even say excuse me. I left with disappointment ad I shook my head in disbelief.

They had a full offering of salads, rice, beans, fish and a variety of meats available. There was a lot of people initially on the line. The ladies behind the counter took time to serve the food and also bring it to the table which was a bit untraditional in my experience of a buffet type style of place. The food was looking good. I decided to add potato salad and a few ribs to my chicken empanadas. The chicken empanadas really told the show. They were seasoned so good, savory with onions and green peppers that had been cooked down almost into a stew. The garlic sauce was a perfect touch and made them even better. I took away one star because one of the lady's behind the counter seemed to have a bit of an attitude with whomever she chose to. Different treatment for different people. I would go back and just see the other woman behind the counter.

Tonight, some of us are returning to Segovia Mesón after a hiatus of 4 years. The reservation was easily made by calling the restaurant. Upon arrival inside, with the warm and inviting earth tones making a very relaxed vibe, we were greeted by the host and got a table in one of the three rooms. The menu offers an appealing array of tapas, paellas, and traditional Spanish dishes bursting with authentic flavors. As appetizers, we decided on a dozen East Coast Oysters and Ecargots Segovia. Our main entree consisted of Scallops and Shrimp, Stuffed Shrimp, Short Ribs, Whole Baked Branzino, and Veal Castellana unfortunately with no substitution. Rice, Broccoli and Potato Chips accompanied our meal to be shared by everyone. Complimentary European-style rolls with butter started our meal. Each bite was a testament to the chef's dedication to quality and craftsmanship. However, the shrimps were not only overcooked but also tasteless. The scallop and jumbo shrimp dish looked more like an appetizer than a main. The service was courteous and attentive; our server was Silvano, who was friendly. The price was a bit steep. Be warned: come with an empty stomach, which we continue to recommend.
