Didn't catch her name but she was very BLAH...did not come around often and then accidentally gave our table an extra dessert (There were 4 of us and apparently 5 cake slices arrived), she brought the bill and mentioned the "extra cake" in a weird, bitchy, condescending and accusatory way... why are you accusing us when you brought an extra slice?? We didn't even eat it. 2 slices were left actually since we were full. We will never return to this place. read more

second time here at this location as a visitor from Toronto. I was able to make same day reservations on open table and luckily get in for a Friday evening! This time we were seated in a cozy corner of the restaurant and was nice to be able to have a conversation. We started off with the crab cakes as an app and then i got the ravioli with scallops and my friend got the steak meal. I really liked my pasta minus the the scallops that were cold. I really appreciated how attentive the server was and offered to get fresh new ones - given how hungry I was I didn't fuss over it (because i didn't want to wait) but she ended up having it taken off the bill which was much appreciated. I learnt something new about the wine - it's made to be shook before being drank and it completely changes the flavour of the wine (in a good way) As last time - great experience and service! Sorry to say but this was just disappointing. I was told it was a nice steak house serving Wagu beef and very nice. (White Rock location anyway) We tried the Langley one and perhaps that's why? This is nothing but a sports bar with $$$ menu. We had reservations and stood at the empty hostess stand for over 5 min until someone finally stopped by to greet us. After getting seated it took 20 min to get a Martini that was only half full. Need smaller glasses or step it up as the presentation was very poor. I had their New York which I'll say was prepared perfect and outstanding flavor! My salad came "with" the meal in a bowl on the same plate! Sorry, this is not Dennys and not priced like that! The salad was not anything to comment. My humble opinion is the salad comes out first in nice dining. I ordered the mashed potato's as a side and they were very good like the steak. My partner had their Filet with creamed corn, mashed potatoes and side béarnaise sauce. The presentation on the plate lacked any flare what so ever. The sauce was just horrible. Not sure what it was but not béarnaise sauce! Was returned. The corn was cold and also sent back. The steak was very good as expected at this price point. Our wine was not poured for us a single time after the first glass and the desert we wanted was all out. This is a very loud place with servers rushing all over. They have several large TV's over the bar which is at the edge of the dining room. If you are with your buddies to watch a hockey game and want a decent steak this is the place. My opinion of course! I DoorDashed an order for Easter Friday late night meal. A bit disappointed by not only the food but but their response to an issue with my order. The Wagyu Beef Dip we ordered came without the beef dip which would have made a dry, hard submarine sandwich at least palatable. The fries that came with it were so salty that I had to brush them down before attempting to eat some. Even then, I gave up on them. I called them to let them know about the issues and was put on hold several times, repeated my story to a few different people before finally being asked for my number & was told they'd call me back to offer a solution. Well I gave them a chance to make it right & they completely avoided addressing the situation. The Master Chicken Sandwich I ordered was decent I guess, although there was the same issue with the over salted fries. The potato bread and Mac n cheese sticks were also decent. The Caesar salad was a bit sad looking and not worth the money. Talking about being worth the money, take a look at the picture of the beef dip & determine yourself if this is worth $22. My favourite restaurant in Langley...Quite possibly in the lower Fraser Valley. I made a birthday reservation for four, asking for a quiet corner. They did .fairly well given my friends and I are 60 to 72 years or age and competing with loud music: and ambient noise can be a bit off~putting, We weren't to concerned as the service was friendly, experienced(our waitress had five years experience at this establishment.) BUT MOSTLY IT WAS THE ENTRÉES which were prepared and presented with care to our requests and all four dishes were simply outstanding. My fellow celebrants to a person rated their filets the best in their7 epicurean decades. I had Harvest Chicken for the second time in the month.. Typical trendy Western place (think Cactus Club or Earls) next to 200th. Parking is available in the lot next to the building. The venue is split into a busier bar area, and a quieter restaurant area. The decor inside isn't as classy as say Cactus Club, but it's also nice and bright inside, thanks to the large windows running the length of the building. Staff were friendly and professional. Food here is a bit on the pricey side, but in line with the competition. I had hte top sirloin with asparagus and onions. Definitely tasty, though nothing really stuck out. The sides were nice. Wow does this restaurant have a trendy and chic decor! And who would have guess it is in Langley!! The restaurant is super clean and staff are quite attentiv. They have quite a bit of food selection as well with happy hour menu as well that runs on weekends too! We came here during lunch and tried out their Lobster and Prawn Burger and S+L Cheeseburger. The burgers was quite stacked, but I find the lobster and prawn burger a tad too salty. It would be perfect if they added some sweetness in the sauce or citrusy to cut down the salt. Came here for my friends birthday - we made a reservation and made it in time for happy hour. Great choices. Our server, Chelsea, was great! Very attentive and super friendly. The drinks were ok.... I prefer cactus clubs' whiskey sour in my opinion. I think it's because cactus uses a Jack Daniels honey so it's sweeter so I just like it better! In terms of food, it was pretty good.. I don't know if it's anything outstanding but good for happy hour prices and the variety of options they have. Our party of 4 was not asked if we wanted a drink, we had to request it, our order was taken later and then our food was slammed down on the table making the group jump. The seafood chop salad had minimal seafood in for the $31 price tag. Another person in our group ordered a chicken sandwich on a gluten free bun, only to be served a breaded chicken sandwich containing gluten. I will give a shout out for the brussel spouts!! Lobster rolls! For the love of lobster rolls!! Came here mainly for the lobster rolls or the trio of it. Left feeling in love with the decor! Not the rolls! This place is so beautiful! It has this gorgeous 70 ish vibes happening. Stunning marbles! Gorgeous counter tops! Carriage like booths! Digital libraries/ many backdrops from the screen. It's oh so visually appealing!! Came here right after I flew back in from Toronto at 4 am! They weren't quite open at 11:25 but got a seat anyway! They have a massive open kitchen and the oyster bar that wasn't set up yet! Ok I want to love this restaurant, I really do but I haven't yet. It's my second time there first was for my husbands birthday and second time was just to try some more of the menu. Both times I felt the food was lacking, my bone marrow was under roasted and I felt there was a lack of service. I really want to go back as I want to try the scallops and ceasar wedge salad as well as the sable fish entree but I don't want to leave again feeling like my husband and I would have had better service and food at the keg. The ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful and my main was the best part of the night The manager did speak to me at my old job of employment and said he would contact me via yelp to have myself and 3 friends as his guests to show us a real dining experience but unfortunately I never heard from him since. I called and made resos and they called the day of to confirm them, which was pretty cool. Food was okay. We got the villain wings, brussel sprouts, fried cauliflower, crispy chicken burger, shrimp and lobster burger, and the parfait for dessert. So the only thing that I loved was the brussel sprouts. It was deep fried, crispy, topped with onions, bacon and Parmesan cheese! This was so good! Everything else was ok. Nothing special. We ordered the parfait for dessert and was disappointed. It literally was an ice cream sundae, not a parfait. The service was good. Everyone was attentive. I'll start with the good: Technically they did serve properly cooked food here, and the service was good. I asked for a rare steak and I got one, someone else asked for a medium-rare steak, and they got one of those too. The decor was nice, good social distancing was used, and the decor/ambiance was fine. As for why I can't give it any more than two stars: - With the exception of one person who got the beef dip (which was apparently quite good), the rest of the table thought their respective main courses were so bland. I got the sirloin, and my partner got the fillet and we both came away thinking that our food tasted like they just threw meat on a heated surface. - My partner's brother got a cheeseburger and it looked so ridiculously poor. The bread was falling apart and looked so pallid that I was shocked it got sent out. Any grocery store would've had fresher buns available. If you get a burger there, maybe bring your own buns so that you don't have to use something that looks like it was squished flat keeping a table level. - And really the crushing blow to all of this was the price. They're clearly trying to be 'a cut above' (as the wall literally spells out) to justify their prices, but the quality of the food is so completely out of alignment. Simple conclusion: If you have money burning a hole in your pocket and you like your meat to be technically cooked right but you're not keen on tasting much more than bland steak: S+L: may be the place for you. Stay away from the burgers, and maybe just go with the seafood. read more

Went to this place with the lovely K about a week after their soft opening for a late lunch. The space itself has had a few tenants during its time with little success. The location is not the best on 200th where most people are on their way to or from somewhere. We were impressed upon entry with the knives imbedded in the wall, the decor itself and our initial greet. Our waitress was experienced and knew the menu back to front and had tried all the food offered. Pretty impressive for a brand new place. The food was good, if a bit unusual. The deep fried cauliflower was new to us and very tasty. We foolishly ordered three fried appy's which is just too much fried food in the afternoon. Our fault of course, but over all the food was quite good and our waitress made the entire experience very good. They had Peroni beer on tap which was quite the find for me. A very nice Italian beer that you usually find in Canada in a bottle only. Enough to bring me back again and again. The space itself is open and warm, with some edge to it that should appeal to a wide range of diners. Our first impression was so good we decided to go back today, and were very dismayed that they had no Peroni on tap. Seems strange to us that a virtually new restaurant has not secured ample supply of their beverages. None of the other 13 beers on tap intrigued and the craft beer offering is quite expensive to be trying a new beer. To compound my unhappiness, our server was the polar opposite to our first one. She had to read the daily drink special off the card she fetched on our table which was in stark contrast to our well versed server the first time. I also watched her do the same thing to a table that was sat only a few minutes after us, you would have thought she would have had it down at that point. When she told me that they were OUT of Peroni she offered no alternative, nor did she check at the bar as to what they may have had that was similar. We did not order off the menu, K finished her wine and we sought out another place to have lunch. We will go back because of our first experience and hope that this latest visit was an aberration and not their typical offering. We stopped by just before 9 pm and placed our order. Our server failed to mention there were Happy Hour specials and we ordered fried Mac and Cheese sticks off the regular menu when it was part of the late night Happy Hour Menu.... Food tasted good for what it was. The lobster chowed was rich and full of lobster flavour. The fried Mac and Cheese sticks were also very good. It was $12 for four sticks and if we waited 10 mins it would have been $4 for two sticks. We ended up ordering a frozen rose ($5) off the happy hour menu as we were waiting for our food to arrive and found out there was a happy hour menu. The Master Chicken was my favourite. Chicken was perfectly fried with a nice crunchy batter. The creamed corn and mashed potato paired well with the chicken. The lobster and prawn linguine was good. There was a decent amount of lobster and prawn pieces. We finished off our meal with a chocolate sphere because they sold out of their pumpkin pie. I reserved a table online a week ago. The restaurant would reply and confirm on the reservation within 48 hours. I highly recommend that reservation is very important. This restaurant is considered as high end in Langley or Fraser Valley. Many customers from Langley or Fraser Valley would come here for dinner or drinks in the evening. This is like a Vancouver type of high end restaurant, but it is located in Langley. This restaurant is better than any other western ones (e.g. Browns Restaurant, the Keg and Cactus Club) in Fraser Valley. We got a table right away since we had reserved a table online. Our server provided great customer service. She was very friendly and upbeat. She took our orders and took care of everything professionally. Although we finished the meals and paid already, she did not rush us to leave. We ordered a dish of lobster pasta and a wagyu burger with fries as well as a couple of drinks. The food was fantastic!! The pasta had a lot of small pieces of lobster. Wagyu burger was of course better than the regular burger out there. We also ordered a chocolate sphere with vanilla ice-cream, brownie and strawberries inside as our dessert. This dessert was very cool that the chocolate was like a ball. Once the server pulled some warm white chocolate sauce on top of the chocolate sphere, the chocolate was melting right away. The only thing I did not like about the chocolate sphere was the brownie. This dish of dessert looked big, but it was very tiny. When I compared to the chefs homemade warm brownie (vanilla ice cream, salted walnuts, hand cut milk chocolate, caramel sauce) at Browns Restaurant, this chocolate sphere was not good. However, I had a great experience at this restaurant located in Langley tonight. I cannot find any restaurants that can beat this one in Fraser Valley yet. read more

We moved into Langley just over half a year ago and always pass this restaurant. We finally tried this restaurant after telling ourselves we should many times. S+L looks to be in direct competition with similar style and themed restaurants like Cactus Club, Earls, and Browns. The decor of S+L definitely sets a cool vibe, but maybe a bit too dark in the restaurant for my liking as I like to see what i'm eating. Or maybe it was just the table we were seated at. The staff were attentive with us. The menu looked good too. Our dinner: The Oysters were good, but the execution of the rest of the meal was mediocre at best. The calamari was rubbery, the beef in the wagyu beef dip was extremely dry. The burger was good, but the caesar salad as the side tasted a bit "off". All in all, it was an average meal. We had dinner with a friend at S & L in Langley. It is a fairly noisy restaurant but we did not find the noise level to be as bad as the Abbotsford location. The restaurant is very modern and nicely decorated. Our server Dallas was very good and took very good care of us. We shared an order of the macaroni and cheese sticks. It was a very generous serving consisting of 4 large sticks. It was a very filling appetizer. For our main course 2 of us had the masters chicken and my husband had the lobster and prawn linguine that he thoroughly enjoyed. He said that it had a generous amount of lobster and it was well prepared. Dallas kept our wine topped up and did a quality check to ensure that we had everything we required. An example of perfect service! I went here for my first wedding anniversary. I was under the impression that it was going to be super expensive and require a second mortgage. Not the case. The majority of the items are under $20. Overall with regards to pricing I say this. Too expensive for a first date but perfect for when you find someone with potential The dining room and lounge are beautiful and hip. I would compare the atmosphere to a cactus club or gastropub. The servers look classy in all black with leather skirts (i barely noticed, i swear) and hip-looking sneakers. This is both practical and makes them less likely to trip and spill things if they were wearing heels. The bartenders look clean and professional with bow ties, clean shirts, and aprons. Drinks. The drink menu is colossal. I needed 10 minutes to pick something. The signature cocktail menu averages $12 but everything has 2 ounces of alcohol so ordered a Mai tai. It was great. My wife had a caesar which came in at a nice $6. Appetizers. I had never tried oysters before so we ordered a couple. I figured if die from it i at least was married for a year. They came in a bowl on top of shaved ice. 2 sauces came with it. Lemon-lime pepper, and a Thai sauce. They were delicious and i will try them again. The prawn cocktail was large with 7 prawns. Very meaty and served with a house cocktail sauce and a garlic aioli. The crowning glory of the appy menu is the deep fried macaroni sticks. Multiple cheese and a nice crust made it tasty. You get four of them. Each the size of a stick of butter. It came with a San Marzano sauce that made it come alive. Mains. I ordered the AAA top sirloin. It came with a choice of two sides. I went with the bacon cream corn and the truffle fries. I had the steak cooked rare and a miracle happened, a restaurant actually cooked it rare. It was perfect. The bacon cream corn tastes so good that it may be against the law in some regions. The truffle fries were thin and crispy topped with thin shredded cheese, truffle oil, and green onions. Super tasty. I wasn't slammed with truffle flavour but it was nicely balanced. My wife ordered the lingcod and went starch crazy by getting the fingerling potatoes and lobster mashed potatoes. The fish..........is the best fish dish we both have ever eaten. It had a nice sear. The sauce was creamy, buttery, with a light citrus vibe. The fingerlings i would compare to a loaded potato skin but upscale. Very good. The lobster mashed potatoes......i would choose as part of my last meal on earth. Buttery, packed with flavour. You know it's not healthy but you don't care. Dessert The Chocolate sphere. Order this and your meal is complete. It will ruin you for all other desserts. Mini brownies topped with ice cream, chocolate sauce, caramel sauce, and strawberries inside a sphere of chocolate. Wait. There's more, candied walnuts are scattered across the plate. The server pours creme anglaise over the sphere melting it to reveal the sweet contents. A tear of joy will form in your eye. Our wonderful server Kelly then told the dessert was a gift for our anniversary. Boom! I saved the one restaurant issue for last as not to sway people people who skim reviews. It was a hot day 29C and we arrived at 6pm which is not ideal seated at a booth in west facing windows the server mention an air conditioner problem so it was warmer than usual. It got uncomfortable. When scanning the ceiling looking for vents i found that there are none in the dining room in the entire area in front of the bar. I guess with the higher ceiling the owner figured it would be fine. The lounge was at least 8 degrees cooler, so we switched tables. It would be worth it (although very expensive) to upgrade the AC in the main dining room. I know many people that would leave based on just the room temperature. That being said. On a normal day it would be fine. On a hot day sit in the lounge or the east side of the building. Eat here. Impressed with the brunch offerings at S+L Kitchen & Bar. Being offered a choice of mimosa ( I chose the grapefruit ) was the start to a lovely meal of eggs benedict with a brown butter hollandaise. Eggs poached to perfection and the brown butter added a great layer of flavour to the dish. The staff are always friendly and inviting while their dishes are consistently delicious thanks to the leadership of Chef Matt Stowe. Must have dishes include the crispy local Brussels sprouts (the 8 of us wolfed down 2 plates as appies) and the crispy sushi rice. On this occasion, I ordered the wagyu flat iron steak. Admittedly, the steak was a touch over my preference of medium rare, but that's a minor deficiency in any otherwise wonderful meal. Oh yeah, cap off the meal with a chocolate sphere for dessert. I really want to like this place but both times I was there it missed the mark on both food and service. The first time, the entire place was too cold. All the guests had jackets and hoodies on. Not a pleasurable way to eat dinner. Food: The Beef Carpaccio was WAY too salty. Almost inedible. The burger meat I ordered was bland. Really bland. As if there was no seasoning in it. The other food was non memorable and your standard browns, cactus club, milestones sort of fare, but a step down. The decor is modern and well concepted, but the food details and conception felt rushed. The second time we were there our food took a LONG time to plate. Like almost 60 minutes. The waitress was busy talking to guests she obviously was friends with while we struggled to get her attention. My beer was empty and I was trying to get another one but she was either nowhere to be found or on the other side of the room talking to her friends. The waitress offered a free dessert as a thank-you for waiting so long for the food, without us asking. It was an almost inedible "deconstructed" Pie or something thing like that. I would like to rate this establishment as a 3 star and was debating between a 2/3 but there is no 2.5 star option so as of now I've decided to round down based on more negatives than positives. These are some of the positives: The ambiance is definitely a 4, this place is stunning! You want to get dressed up almost like when I do when we head downtown for the night which is nice for the Valley. The kale Caesar was great because of the dressing but in the entire salad I believe I found 3 Kale leaves. The entire salad was a Romaine salad with three kale leaves. I was so confused that they gave me the wrong salad but my friend picked out the very few kale leaves to prove to me it was the right salad. I was utterly disappointed but the dressing was good at least but not good enough to make the salad stand out. I ordered the Top Sirloin, medium, I always eat my steak mediu with the loaded potatoes on the side and roasted mushrooms. I found the loaded potatoes very bland with a dollop of sour cream, bacon and a pound of salt dumped on top almost as an after thought. The extra salt was noticed by three other people who I shared the potatoes with simply because I found the loaded potatoes to be quite awful and wanted to pawn them off to my husband and family friends. Next, I'm a very visual person who is very grossed out by blood. My steak arrived rare. As soon as I cut into it, blood was pouring out onto the plate and I lost my appetite. The blood mixed into my very delicious mushrooms which was a turn off. It took while for the server to come around and at this point my company was almost done eating theIr meals. My company told me to just eat my meal but for the price I was paying for this meal, I refuse to eat a meal that's not cooked right. I got a hold of my server, told her it was not medium whereas she took it back. Keep in mind two small pieces have been cut off this steak,and the same steak has been brought back unlike at The Keg where they will make the order all over again how it is supposed to be in the first place. Sadly,the highlight of my main meal was the roasted mushrooms! If I was vegan I honestly could've been so happy eating a whole plate of mushrooms but as I am not and this is a steak house I was extremely let down. I wish I ordered the master chicken like most people around me but I really love steak! Anyways, I figured after my starter salad being below par as well as the steak letting me down completely I figured that their popular dessert the skillet cookie that I was told by my friends could save the day. Sadly, my expectations weren't realistic as the previous yelp pictures of the cookie in the skillet. My cookie was a small cookie on a small plate with ice cream which actually looked like ice cream soup as it had melted. Once again, dessert was such an after thought it was just dropped onto the table. I was there with a group so I'm wondering if this why we were given the mediocre food experience? I have wondered if I would give this place another chance because the menu does look appealing but after paying $150 dollar bill plus tipping well I'm not sure if my food could be better if service is lacking as well as good quality product and execution. I didn't take pictures of my dessert because I didn't eat it and at this point I was completely over my entire meal. But once again, the roasted mushrooms were SO good! Great place to grab oysters and booze during Happy Hour, $5 for a glass of red wine, or a pint of Stella. Plus the added buck a shuck for oysters and this place hits it out of the park. The environment is really cozy and relaxed, and the decor is quite interesting; a lobster mounting a cow, where else would you find something so absurd. Overall, a great place for Happy Hour (2-5pm everyday) the regular price for the other food can be a bit expensive $10-$20 range; but the Happy Hour more then makes up for it considering they have Happy Hour everyday from 2-5pm that includes $5 craft cocktails and buck a shuck oysters, and Late Night Happy Hour from Sunday to Thursday, 9pm-12am; which includes $4 beer and wine, $5 mules and $4 appies. The oysters I ordered were great, from the fresh horseradish to the 2 sauces and the sweet tasting fresh oysters it was a great experience. Definitely worth a revisit. I've always wanted to try this place but I left pretty dissatisfied. Found a hair in my food! I made reservations on a Saturday for 8:45 which was the only spot available. We arrived about 20 mins early and we're still not seated until 9 o'clock at our booth. The booth was nice and the ambiance is very romantic (a bit noisy as we were sitting in the lounge section). They had a live DJ which was nice. A lot of menu items seemed appealing to me. We ordered the truffle fries as an appy which were soooo good and flavourful. They were smothered in Parmesan cheese and came with a side of strong lemon aioli. My boyfriend ordered the crispy chicken sandwich which was very good. I highly reccomend the Brussels sprouts which have a sweet/savoury flavour. I ordered the mac and cheese sticks as my main because I heard they were very good. Taking the first bite I want very pleased. The mac and cheese tasted out-of-a-box and the marinara sauce on the side overpowered the entire dish. I do not recommend these at all. Also, thankfully I cracked open the second one before taking a bite - SURPRISE, an eye lash hair! I was very disgusted and they took it off the bill. Between the waiting and the not-so-tasty (hairy) mac and cheese I cannot rate this place very high. Although it was not my intention to eat here today , I had intended to eat here eventually. Having previously perused the menu quite thoroughly , I have to admit there are many things I find intriguing. Today we ended up eating between 2 o'clock and 5 o'clock p.m.. I am a very serious raw oyster fiend. This as it turns out is happy hour. And happy hour features buck a shuck oysters. The lady shucking the oysters , was an absolute pro. In 30 oysters, there was only one tiny piece of shell. I have to admit that I am a little apprehensive about eating seafood from the Pacific since Fukushima, and was very pleased to find out that all their oysters are from the Atlantic. $1 each oysters , combined with the fact that they where superbly shucked, and from the Atlantic, made for an unprecidented feast. So rest assured , you oyster lovers , I will be eating here between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. again soon. In addition to oysters, we ordered two of the lobster rolls, which were delicious. My daughters ,ordered the crispy sushi rice, and it was marvelous. I ordered crispy brussel sprouts, they were very delicious, however, they had broken up into many pieces in the deep fryer. If they had not been broken into so many little pieces, I would say they were the best brussel sprouts I had every eaten. My oldest daughter ordered the lobster and shrimp pasta, it was good, but nothing to write home to Mom about. In an expensive restaurant, the pasta should have been stellar, just like the other dishes. I think it really deserves, it's three and a half star rating, if it wasn't for the amazing raw oysters, which bumps it up to four, to my mind. read more

A hidden gem. This restaurant is amazing. They have excellent drink specials, and one of the best selections I've seen on a menu. We had the buck-o-shuck oysters, truffle fries, and shrimp salad. All three dishes were wonderful. Ceasars on Sunday are also only $5! Bonus! We sat on the patio as it was a nice sunny day, but the ambience inside is great for a group of friends, or for a date as well. The service was great and all the food tasted so good.
