got here around 12pm on friday, street parking was a bit of a struggle but we had someone in the party get in line while we looked for a spot. a party of 12 was in front of us which may have aftected the wait. got seated after 15ish mins, upstairs in a secluded couch area! you order on a QR code and the ordered food/drinks are brought to you, but water and everything else is self serve. staff were nice when checking on party sizes in line & walking us up to our seats. ambiance was beautiful! it's two-story with most tables and large group tables upstairs. most people here were doing work on their laptops, even taking meetings. lots of paper lanterns, dark wood, and neutral colors. the chairs are very comfy though, so i could see why people hunker down and do work here. sōhn breakfast sandwich (6/10): bread is so fluffy and soft! love the cheese and sweet jam. could have more bacon. all the textures were just kinda soft and mushy, would like if smth crunchy (a leafy green or if bacon were crispier) was there to break it up. galbi patty melt (6.5/10): rlly like the kbbq beef patty; had good flavor and juicy. i also like the slaw and esp the caramelized onions. somehow the croissant on this was much denser and drier. signature cream top matcha (6/10): reminds me of breadbelly's matcha but creamier. matcha is veeery strong and the cream top was fine. not my favorite but not the worst matcha in sf. popcorn chicken (7/10): crunchy coating, great seasoning, not too salty. the fried rice cakes is chewy w a perfect bit of crunch. i was really hyping this place up, but i don't think it was worth the hype. as a working and social space, it looks and feels great but the food and drinks were just fine. i would be interested in trying their kimchi fried rice and socialize with friends, but wouldn't come with high hopes for their other food/bevs.

Banana Latte

I have come to Sohn a few times both from dining in and takeout. Overall, it is a solid place! The popcorn chicken and mochi bites is good, wish that it came with a sauce on the side otherwise would be perfect! They did have sriracha that you can grab but I think another sauce would complement it better. The gochujang snickerdoodle is my current favorite cookie. It has the crispy edges but soft in the middle. Perfect density and not too sweet! The drinks have been hit or miss with me. I've gotten the banana latte twice. The first time there wasn't enough banana but the second time was too much banana. Coffee itself is tasty! It is on the pricier side but it's sf lol all of the bakeries / cafes are about the same price. The employees are all very nice and the space is beautiful. I noticed a lot of people doing work.

Went here on a Sunday around 1pm with two other friends. The service was fast since we didn't dine in and it has a really open style interior. I ordered the sohn signature cream top, popcorn chicken, butter croissant, and their breakfast sandwich. Popcorn chicken: it was alright the flavor wasn't memorable but the rice cakes it came with were an interesting addition. Croissant: like any other croissant Breakfast sandwich: I think it was a good balance of ingredients and I enjoyed the texture of the eggs. Not too salty but personally I didn't think it was anything outrageous. sohn signature cream top: I think I enjoyed the drink the cream top was a good contrast to the rest of the drink. It was a good size and not too much ice. I would recommend to try it if you haven't. Or unsure of what to get for drinks. I think this is a place worth to give a try if you're looking for places to take pictures and try new drinks.

Spicy Cold Buckwheat Noodle Salad, Popcorn Chicken

What a neighborhood gem!! It's such a great place for whether you're in need of a study/work session or meeting up with friends to catch up. The inside is huge, with a huge seating area. Also love that the tables upstairs are all positioned along walls, so there are outlets at practically every table if you need to grind. Came in on a weekday around noon, and it was fairly crowded but we were seated immediately. There's QR codes on the tables, and the servers bring up your food and drinks. We ordered a matcha signature cream top and a hojicha latte, as well as the popcorn chicken and the spicy cold buckwheat noodle salad. Everything was absolutely amazing!! The matcha was very smooth, and the popcorn chicken was seasoned and fried perfectly. The noodle salad was also light and refreshing yet also very filling! They do get pretty busy, so it might take a while to get your food/drinks. Also parking isn't super great, but definitely visit if you're in the area!

Galbi Patty Melt

Ambiance: SŌHN is a Korean breakfast / brunch cafe in the Neighborhood of dogpatch within San Francisco. The restaurant offers both downstairs and upstairs seating with coffee bar access as well. The restaurant also features both rustic and modern Korean decor throughout the cafe. Wait Time: Depending on if you choose dine in or take out the time may vary, but relatively quick service for dine-in. Service: Menu is available via QR code at the bar and on the tables in the restaurant with servers bringing food and drinks as the order is placed. They do require you to pay before the order is complete so there is not much interaction outside of when they bring food out. Food: The Matcha Cream Top was good with a nice earthy flavor from the matcha and complimented by the cream placed on top of the drink. The size is a fair price compared to other matcha around the city and not overly filled with ice as well. The Galbi Patty Melt was good with less of a marinated flavor that you might expect from the Galbi, though it was not dry as there was both a kimchi slaw and dress placed on top. The bun of the Melt was extremely light and crispy with loads of sesame seeds which provided a complimentary texture. The gochujang caramel cookie was crisp around the edges and softer along the middle of the cookie. Not overly powerful from the gochujang itself and tasted almost like a snickerdoodle and sugar cookie mixed together. A very fair priced for the size of the cookie as well. Overall, SŌHN was a delightful experience with lots of delicious beverages and food that I'd definitely come back and try again in the future.

Breakfast sandwich and some tasty drinks

Came for the coffee drinks with cream tops but left craving more of the breakfast sandwich.

A beautiful and very spacious cafe located right next to Dogpatch Boulders. I came here with the intention to explore a new cafe but had no idea that the line would be 30+min for Sit Down as well as Take Out. It was busy. You see a large amount of people doing work on their laptop but also many who came here to eat and socialize. It does slightly feel like a social hub where people come and meet their friends to hang out. They need to clean their restrooms more frequently because I can tell they do it probably once a week. They need to have someone go in in and clean every 30min for that amount of people who visit Sohn daily.

Airy, open space at SOHN

My friend and I were determined to make the most of a PTO Friday, with SF temperatures in the sizzling range. After visits to Hamburguesa Bar and Shoji, we capped our afternoon at Sohn and I am very glad we did. First off, the space is gorgeous. We got our order to go because I had a kid to pick up on the other side of the Bay but this is definitely a place you want to settle into! The ceilings are soaring and the vibes are good. Second, thank you for making me feel seen as a non-coffee drinker Sohn! All of the drinks offer the following options: espresso, matcha, hojicha. My tea-loving prayers have been answered! I can't think of a better way to beat the heat than an iced banana oat milk hojicha latte. Finally, I've been meaning to bake the gochujang caramel cookies forever and Sohn saved me the labor by having them on offer here. Very solid cookie option, friends! Sohn, I can't wait to see you again...

Sohn is a spacious, aesthetically pleasing cafe to get some work done or catch up with friends. They offer free WiFi and table service. We had to wait in line on a Friday afternoon to get seated. I tried the yuja perilla espresso tonic and it was so good! Didn't taste much of the perilla but the citrus flavor was strong. Food was good as well. The tables are small to have space to eat, drink, and work though. Overall I'd love to come back when I'm in the city, preferably on a weekday or during a time when it's not too busy.

Lily Z.

I heard so many great things from friends about Sohn and so I wanted to check it out! Inside the cafe looked so aesthetically pleasing and welcoming, but the line to sit was a bit too long for me. I opted for the to-go and was able to try the chocolate croissant (8.5/10), Seoul sausage pepper croissant (8/10), galbi patty melt (6/10), and the decaf banana oat latte (6.6/10). I really liked the chocolate croissant and Seoul sausage croissant :) but the banana oat latte was a bit too sweet for me. I wish there was an option to lower the sweetness. Next time, I would love to try the popcorn chicken!

Signature Cream Top (Espresso) & Seoul Sausage Pepper Pastry
Thien-Kim B.

We arrived on a Sunday mid-morning, waited over an hour to be seated & 15 minutes after we sat down, ordered, and received most of our food, a server told us to move because there was no other table that will be able to sit a new party of five (we're a party of four). We spoke to a manager and they were able to help us move to a better table than the one were originally shunted to. They're very busy but I appreciate that we get proper service if we ask. Great food & drinks. Seoul Sausage Pastry is a filling, savory treat! Breakfast Sandwich has steamed egg which is super melt-in-your-mouth good. The signature cream top drink has a cream that is not too heavy and doesn't overpower the base of the drink. Great balance. Yuja Perilla Espresso Tonic is a standout, super refreshing and light. It starts off with a note of strong flavor that goes away at the end of the sip. They gave us a treat for the trouble, so I'm happy to say if you carve out some time to visit, they are committed to adding joy to the community.

Been here several times and tried most of their food items - best one would be popcorn chicken which was crispy and well seasoned without being overly salty. The breakfast sandwiches were ok - meat in the galbi melt wasn't as tender as I expected while the regular breakfast sandwich was a bit too sweet. For $14, there wasn't a lot of noodles in their buckwheat noodle salad. Tried the banana hojicha latte on separate occasions and it was bland - you would think it's because it has too much ice but no, I grabbed it right away when it was ready and took a big sip after giving it a good mix. Nope, no flavor - not from the hojicha and definitely not from banana. Their cookie is nice and big - not spicy despite having gochujang in it. Parking is a hit or miss. I usually just double park in the yellow zone right outside and run in to place my order while keeping an eye out. Lines for dine in can be long as you approach end of week.

Hojicha cream top, espresso banana milk
Dan P.

Espresso banana milk - felt like espresso didn't mix in well with the banana milk, espresso was bit bitter and left a sour aftertaste. not my favorite! Hojicha cream top - on the sweeter side, couldn't really taste the Hojicha but otherwise pretty good! Popcorn chicken - chicken is a bit salty but LOVE the rice cakes, the furikake adds a nice savory/umami touch. Love how they don't charge extra for milk alternatives. Lovely vibes, very aesthetic and open space. Staff friendly and service super quick. Came at 9:45AM on a Saturday and there was no wait for dine in, we got seated right away. Line for take out is longer.

Breakfast Sandwich $14. Comes with sweet onion bacon jam.

Yes, it is one person doing everything, but he's super sweet and thorough. So, have patience coming here. Restaurants probably can't afford more labor when their own costs of food, labor, rent and insurance is so high. With that said, the food is expensive. However, the items we ordered were delicious, clean, fresh, and authentic. Ginseng chicken soup was made with love. Can't find this dish in most Korean spots! Longer wait time because it takes longer to make. Meat fell if the bone, stock was rich and not salty! You can salt it yourself! Mackerel was tasty and juicy. Probably, the best pan fried mackerel I've had. The mungbean pancake was good but not for the price. Side dishes were decent. Kimchee could be better. Location is in the heart of Japan town! That's rare. Mother approved and we will be coming back again!

And the Spicy Calamari & Bulgogi was actually $20 higher (!!!) than what's listed on Yelp (no prices on website), so find this pretty misleading. It was also overcooked, so bummer all around. Took a chance on this Japantown fav and left wishing I'd purchased basically anything else there. Apparently I'm not alone, while all the other restaurants were bustling on a busy Sunday evening, this one was virtually empty.

That could be a good or bad thing depending on the vibe you are going for. All the dishes hit their mark for me. We got: Mulhwae: very refreshing white fish sashimi with refreshing greens, citrusy sauce and strawberries. I thought the strawberries added more to the presentation than the taste. However, the dish itself was delicious. Scallops and shrimp: Similar as above, a very refreshing light appetizer. I would get either this of the other because they're kind of the same idea. Potato fritter w/ mentaiko: probably my top 1 or 2 of the night. Think fancy hashbrown with creamy umami pollock row plus more crispy toppings. This is a must-have I would say. Soft tofu soup w/ galbi: I liked the theatrical element of pouring the home-grown soy from Oakland to create the tofu right in front of you. The umami broth and the jang make this dish very rich. Another must have! Pork jowl bossam: this was a delicious take on bossam. Smokey soft jowl. The greens and kimchi accompanied it made this dish taste so healthy while satisfying your craving. If you just love buttery soft tender meat, go for it. However if you like jowl because you like the chew/bounce on every bite, you might be disappointed because this meat is super soft! Drinks: matcha colada was a little too coconuttey for me. It kind of overpowered the taste of any matcha but if you like coconut, this is a perfect visually pleasing and sweet dessert cocktail. The lychee blossom had a pleasant taste of fruit and almost tasted like there was yogurutoo or calpico in it. I much preferred this drink and it was on the sweeter side too. Overall pleasant experience, worth taking some guests or a date. Also we got 4-5 dishes but left super full! We probably would've been fine with 1 or 2 appetizers less.

Granted we were a bit late for our reservation, we ended up having to wait another 30-40 mins. The place (2nd floor) is small & awkward.
