It started with them, leaving a birthday card on the table with balloon confetti, which I thought was such a cute touch. The steak was unbelievable, and the au gratin potatoes were delicious! I could rave about the Caesar salad.. although I do wish there were more croutons Our waitress, Jenny, was an absolute sweetheart, and worked very hard. She was very attentive and very personable and she definitely made the experience more enjoyable. They did surprise us, and they brought out a cheesecake to celebrate. Upon pulling up I thought this was a hotel as that is what the exterior looks like. Once inside, they couldn't find our reservation, but when we showed them our confirmation, they were able to accommodate us. They called the names of 2 parties back to back who weren't there, and then asked our name and the names of the other group who were waiting, and seated us about 5 mins later. They seemed to be a bit unorganized. Service by Ryan was good, however, there were a few misses. He never asked if we were celebrating anything, which we were --a birthday. They put bacon on my salad even though I requested it be omitted, I had to ask three times for the appetizer to be boxed, as we couldn't finish it, and it was in the way now that our entrees were brought out. A manager came by the table to check in and we told him we had a birthday at the table, but there was no acknowledgment at all. At another Ruth's they decorated the table, and comped a glass of champagne. Nothing major, but it's the little things that make service special. The food at this location was good -we enjoyed the stuffed chicken, filet with shrimp, goat cheese artichoke dip and crab cakes. The wedge salad was ok, but the cheesecake was too thick, and neither of us liked it after each taking a bite. Ryan removed it from the bill. Mixed experience. When the service hit, it really delivered. When it didn't, the gaps were obvious. My drink took a long time to arrive, empty glasses sat too long, and my second drink didn't come until dessert. We dealt with the same delays on water jug refills for the table. The Sweet & Smoky Margarita tasted great but was weak. The food was good, not great. My medium rare 8 oz Filet was cooked perfectly, and the bleu cheese crust was nicely balanced. The Brussels Sprouts and Calamari were solid. My younger daughter loved the Lobster Mac and Cheese as her meal from the sides menu, and my older daughter cleaned her plate of the kids' 4 oz Steak with Mashed Potatoes. Desserts were inconsistent. The Bread Pudding was good but my nephew didn't like his Chocolate Sin Cake. It was extremely rich and all ganache. His girlfriend found the Creme Brulee just okay. Early 2000s vibes. Been here a few times I always order the PETITE FILET and cream spinach. It's a great combo that never lets me down. The filet is always cooked and spiced just right I get it medium well. The cream spinach is a perfect companion to my filet. It's tasty and creamy almost the same consistency as mashed potatoes but spinach. The service is very good the waiters I have had are very knowledgeable and attentive. They will check on you constantly. The ambience is of a high end restaurant they play music at a comfortable level and the lights are at 50% dimness. We received a gift card from my girlfriend's parents and decided to go for a date night. The restaurant was very nicely decorated and gave off that rich elegant vibe. The servers were very professional and nice and treated me like I was a millionaire while I was eating there if that makes sense. The food was very good but I just feel like at that price point I've had better food from independent steak houses. It was a great experience and nothing was bad I just felt the prices were higher than they should've been for what we got. They have specials and deals which I'm sure are worth it but the regular menu is a little expensive. I recently dined at Ruth's Chris in Princeton, and despite some negative reviews I've seen, my experience was overwhelmingly positive. To start, we had the Calamari appetizer, which was crispy and flavorful. For sides, I ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese, Roasted Brussels Sprouts, and Sweet Potato Casserole. The Lobster Mac & Cheese was rich and indulgent, the roasted brussels sprouts were perfectly roasted, and the Sweet Potato Casserole had a great balance of sweet and savory. As for drinks, they were delicious and definitely packed a punch--perfectly crafted: ordered the gamblers old fashioned and pomegranate martini Our main course consisted of steak, which took a little longer to come out than I'd have liked. I was getting a bit hungry while waiting, but when it arrived, it was cooked exactly to our liking, and the wait was worth it. The steak is served on extremely hot plates (around 500 degrees!), so it continues to cook as you eat. Just be cautious not to touch the plate--it's incredibly hot! I visited this Ruth's Chris with my mom for her birthday. This was her first time going to Ruth's Chris. We ended up getting steak and shared a few sides amongst us. Typically, my favorite sides are the creamed spinach and the sweet potato casserole, and although they were tasty as usual, the real star of the show was the brussel sprouts. They were so good that we ate all of them at the restaurant and had to get an additional order of brussel sprouts just to take home with the rest of our leftovers. When I made the reservation, I indicated on the reservation that we were there to celebrate a birthday. When we arrived at our table, they had birthday confetti on the table. Usually, they would give a birthday person a small version of one of their desserts, but they ended up giving us a full sized portion of their cheesecake for us to share. Our very first time eating at Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and although the ambiance is a real steakhouse look the experience was not. A huge disappointment considering the highlight of our dinner was the steakhouse salad! The Filet and shrimp was mediocre at best, steak undercooked to requested medium rare and the shrimp size 30's, should've been at least 16-20 count. They gave us a cheesecake that looked like an Entenmans and given to us in a to go container. In a word, the service sucks and steaks, that once bore RC's signature sizzle come plated at room temperature at best. My husband and I had reservations for Valentine's Day around 7 PM, so I only had a smoothie in the morning and then attended a baby shower from 3to 5:30. We skipped eating there--even though the food looked amazing--because we were saving our appetites for Ruth's Chris. This was our third time dining here, and this time we decided to bring our kids along so they could enjoy it too. I usually order the lamb chops because they're my favorite and my go-to meal here. Unfortunately, this time they were extremely chewy and tough. Each piece tasted different. Some I could barely cut with my knife, and others were so hard that I had to struggle to bite through them. I don't like making people feel uncomfortable, so when the staff asked if everything was okay, I smiled and said yes. But honestly, I was struggling the entire time. Some pieces were so tough that I ended up swallowing large chunks instead of fully chewing. I couldn't even finish the last piece. My kids ordered chicken ages 8/10 skin was seasoned well, but the inside was very dry. There was no juice on the plate at all, and they had a hard time eating it. It was so dry that they were almost choking while trying to chew it. We drove over an hour to get to this restaurant, and sadly, our Valentine's Day dinner was very disappointing. My husband said his meal was "fine," but about five minutes before we got home, he pulled into McDonald's and ordered a number nine--so clearly, he wasn't satisfied and was still hungry. For me, the most disappointing part is that I basically starved myself all day looking forward to those lamb chops, only to struggle through them and not even be able to enjoy my meal. There is nothing wrong with my teeth. This is normally my favorite dish here, which makes this even more frustrating. Between the long drive, the poor food quality, and the overall disappointment, it felt like a waste of time and money. Based on this experience, I don't think it's worth returning. He explained the new items on the menu and was attentive. As for the food, I usually go for the ribeye or filet, but I heard good things about the bone in filet, so I gave it a try. It did not disappoint! The bone truly enhanced the flavor compared to the standard filet. I chose to have it topped with collasal crab, which is a little different from "oscar style". As you're no doubt aware, RC is a chain, and they do an excellent job of delivering a consistent experience regardless of geography. Cute decorations on the table to acknowledge the special events. Predictably attentive, knowledgeable server. Wine list is extensive if expensive...but that's typical of steakhouses. Love the bread -- two short baguettes that are right out of the oven. We reloaded once. Three ribeyes (cooked properly!) and an order of crab cakes with sides of lobster mac and cheese (insanely good) and their sweet potatoes. Make no mistake, this place is full cholesterol, full fat, full calories, and full priced. And in fairness, there's nothing unique about each location -- but that's their strategy. I went there last night 8/2/2025. I go there frequently. Last night was the worst dinner I've ever had there. I had a reservation. They "checked us in" and then left us to wait and wait. No communication from the hostess desk. Very unprofessional. They then started pushing people to eat at the bar tables. They finally said there were no tables available in the dining room. The steaks were ok. They were tough to cut. We each had a $73 steak that was just ok. I had to send back the lobster mac and cheese because it was crusted over and dry. Not creamy like it usually is. I really dislike a $234 + tip dinner that is marginally good. The ONLY saving grace was our amazing server. His name was Joe and he was the ONLY pleasant part of our evening. I love Ruth Chris. My fiancé and I usually just come for dinner on special occasions. This time we showed up for Happy Hour on a Thursday afternoon. The bar area was clean and quiet. The bartenders were friendly and greeted us as soon as we sat down. The happy hour menu had reduced price cocktails for $12. I had a pomegranate martini and a lemon drop. They were both okay. In my opinion the regular price should've been $12 and the happy hour price $8 as the glasses seemed smaller than average. We ordered Spicy Shrimp from the Happy Hour menu. It was a full portion and they were delicious. Good value for the money. Overall I love Ruth Chris but, if you're looking for value in a Happy Hour, go somewhere else. Nice ambience when we arrived. Dress code is business casual but there were some people who were dressed more casually. We got led to our booth and the seat had a lot of crumbs on it. Our waiter brought us freshly baked bread, which was very good. The mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat were good as well and probably my favorite dish that we got. I got the prix fixe menu with steak house salad which I thought would have steak in it but was just vegetables, a few sliced cherry tomatoes, and a few croutons. There was too much dressing on it for me and not very impressive in my opinion. For main, I got the steak and lobster which was good but generally I am not a steak person so I wasn't super impressed. It's hard to review a place when the service is truly mixed and the experience overall isn't great, especially for the price you're paying. I loveeee Ruth's Chris. I've been to many locations. It's a special maybe once a year treat. Hadn't been there in multiple years because of the pandemic. We wanted to go to a physically nicer location like Weehawken or somewhere but Princeton is by far the closest. It's in Forrestral village and it's nothing special outside. The ambiance isn't included in this review but just something to keep in mind. We had a reservation but weren't seated until after our time. They had us waiting for a while. By the time we got seated, it took forever to get our server. Our waiter Adam was working with another girl whose name I didn't get. The girl wasn't very formal but was fine. Adam was fantastic except that it was clearly busy and he couldn't come to our table often. We didn't get our salads until almost an hour after we were seated. He was super apologetic and I understand it wasn't his fault. The couple next to us complained to the manager because their service was even slower than ours. Took a really long time to get my drink, the rocks Rita which was phenomenal, using real margarita ingredients, not just a mix. Ordered off the classics menu since it comes with a starter and dessert. Very upset that every option on the classics comes with seafood. We ordered without seafood (husband is allergic). It was still the same price. Which I kinda get it's out of their control. Just annoying. My salad was disappointment. I didn't get any tomatoes and a little wilted. The actual food was great, classic, it's what you should expect from a Ruth's Chris. Like it's consistent. Outside of the salad, I loved everything. My filet was perfect. The bread was incredible. I don't particularly like creamed spinach but I always order it here because it's incredible. The desserts are fantastic. There's an up charge with the classics if you get anything other than the cheesecake. The flourless chocolate sin cake is absolutely worth it if you love chocolate. It was Mothers day and they had no ice for any of the drinks, claimed their ice maker was broken, then go out and buy ice..We ordered appetizers and they forgot 2 of them and in addition one of the potato augratin appetizers was uncooked and the veal ravioli was cold. The waiter would walk away without taking our orders and disappeared constantly. We called to talk with the manager and that was a waste he claimed he'd sent them out for ice and would bring it over, never did. It was over 1500 bill plus the tax this is not the service we should be getting. They gave a bag for leftovers to some of the guests and not others. Where do I begin on this day! It's Father's Day and my wife takes me here and again it's a hit or miss and it was DEFINITELY a miss. We had reservations at 7 and on the reservation we asked to be seated in Dennis section and the hostess came back and stated all they had was a 4 top and she seated us in another section which was the beginning of the end. She seats us and states that Nicole was going to be our server all the while I see Nicole walking back and forth and not 1x in 15 did she come to our table. Another group of 4 came and sat behind us and immediately got a waitress over to them and brought bread and water out to them. Finally the assistant waitress Chelsea came over with water and stated that Annette was going to be our waitress and almost 20 min of waiting. At that point I wanted to see a manager. Annette proceeded to take our drink order and app order which we ordered a crab cake and shrimp cocktail app. 20 min or so later they came with the cocktails and a few min later the apps showed up. Going back to the waitress as I water glass was empty it took her forever to refill the glasses. Now here comes the horror story. We waiting on Annette to come back to take our entrée order a couple to our right which had a family of 6 had been sitting there since 6:30 and and haven't been served their food so the father decided to speak to a manager on why it was taking so long. He then proceeded to come talk to us after we placed our entrée order and asked why we order at 8pm and it's 8:40 and our food still hadn't come out. He was making a bunch of excuses but we definitely didn't wanna hear it because no one should be sitting there for almost 45 min for entrées. Eventually at almost 9pm the food finally comes out and for the plates to be 500 degrees the plates wasn't even sizzling. My wife had NY Strip bone in and she asked for medium and it came out well done. I order Chilean Sea Bass and we order Lobster Mac and Cheese and the Sea Bass wasn't hot but ok and the Mac and cheese was cold. We had to send my wife steak back and wait another 20 min for the steak. At that point we was just ready to get out of there because the service was absolutely HORRIFIC. From what a few customers were saying they are having management issues along with the chef in the back of the house not running things properly. Also I don't know how they hire a manager that worked at a fast food restaurant and come to a fine dining establishment and don't know what they doing. I live in the Princeton area but the way they running this place I will go to Somerville and go to Wolfgangs. Service is 1000% better that Ruth Chris and if we going to be spending $300 or more and the service is bad I will take my business elsewhere. Get it together Ruth Chris or you will be losing more than 1 or 2 customers. Get yall service levels up. read more

For the main dining room, the food is very good and fully priced as you could expect from a premium steakhouse. The service is attentive- but can feel overly scripted and mechanical at times. Happy hour - you can stretch your $ much further in the bar area. The steak sandwich is excellent and good deals are to be found on wine and signature cocktails. P.S. Decided to grab some lunch with a friend and we decided to go to Ruth's Chris. So at my big age I've never been to Ruth's Chris shocking right?? It was around 9pm when we got there so we sat at the bar. I started off with the sizzling crab cakes which were the bomb dot com. There was a lot of crab and not just the filling that they normally use 10/10. I ordered a spicy margarita with casamigos that was nothing to write about. They were out of jalapeños so that was that. For my entree I went with the salmon and shrimp and ordered a side of Mac and cheese. Let's start with the Mac and cheese that is enough to feed three people. It was pretty good. It was a tad bit runny though but it worked. The entree was just ok. I really should've got the crab cakes as an entree. The salmon while cooked well lacked seasoning and so did the Shrimp. The bbq butter that accompanied lacked actual bbq and just tasted like salted butter. The service was a little slow being that the restaurant wasn't that busy. Overall. Our server Annette was the only great part of our dinner! She was patient and attentive with our party of 9 (which included 3 kids). The food however, was disappointing especially for the high price point. Mine and my husband's filet mignons had fatty parts, the potatoes au gratin and macaroni and cheese were lacking in flavor, the mashed potatoes took an additional 20-25 minutes to come out after the entrees, and the cheesecake crust tasted stale along with a too tangy sour cream layer on top.
