This is a review I posted on OpenTable regarding our experience at Rusty Scupper, Christmas Eve, 2018 I don't know where to begin to describe our experience, but suffice to say the food and service was not worth the price, nor did the dishes we received match the menu. The jumbo lump crab cake was to have included a Three Mustard Sauce, Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes and Vegetables for the price of $45. What was served was two small crab cakes (G&M is far, far better), French fries and coleslaw. The Kent Island Crab Stuffed Shrimp, which was Gulf Shrimp, Crab Stuffing, Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes and Vegetables for $33 consisted of four small shrimp with a crab stuffing that was more cream and filler with a touch of crab. The mashed potatoes were four little whole potatoes. The Spinach Salad was described as Bartlett Pears, Candied Walnuts, Gorgonzola Cheese, Roasted Onion Vinaigrette and Blueberries for $10. What was received was a large bowl of fresh spinach, four very thin and short julienne slices of pears, candied walnuts, a small amount of Gorgonzola and strawberries (they were out of blueberries). If there was a vinaigrette dressing added, we could not taste it. Presentation of the entrees was poor, the plates were far too big for the actual size of the meal. I should also mention the bread that is provided after being seated was not given to us until we realized 30 minutes later we were supposed to get some. Once placed on the table with a side of sauce, the server could not tell us what type of sauce it was other than "bread sauce". When we received our appetizers, we realized we had no flatware. Service was slow, the servers, although trying their best, were just not of the quality you would expect from a place like this. I have had 100% better service at casual dining restaurants such as Frisco's and Applebee's. Those waiters know their menus inside and out. The meal for seven of us equaled $450. It was maybe worth $150, at best. We will not be returning and will definitely not recommend this place in the future. read more

The crab dip along with the bread dipping sauce was delicious. I ordered the shrimp stuffed with crab, mash potatoes and asparagus. It lacked seasoning and flavor but the mash potatoes were great. Will try again if I happen to be in the area but not rushing back. read more

I enjoyed the food and the view if the harbor. I was flying solo while in town on a business trip, so I sat at the bar. A little pricey, but worth it. I have to agree with Corrina. My soup & entree were also cold...Waitstaff did not know the menu. Coconut shrimp had alot of breading. Not sure if there even was coconut in it. Dipping sauce good. The foccacia & red pepper /almond spread were the highlight. I had the stuffed shrimp for lunch. 3 quarter sized shrimp topped with a tablespoon of crab meat. The rice that was served with it was pathetic. Extremely mushy and tasted like overcooked beef rice-a-roni. Also had green beans. I see another poster mentioned green beans a few days before. They were cold. I don't have high hopes for the meal if I cant even get a bowl of hot soup. I would not recommend Rusty Scupper to anyone or return for another meal. read more

Nick was the best! Very Knowledgeable about the menu and the area and always there when we wanted him. View was amazing! 180 degrees of the harbor. Atmosphere was delightful! Food was good, but a bit overpriced. Some dishes I saw looked waaaay better than others, but the view and the live piano made up for it. My wife had the Rock fish special and I immediately wished i had ordered that over my crab cakes despite the high price. I will most likely go back. Ask for Nick. read more

Because of heavy traffic, we ended up here. It was my first time in years, and I was shocked at how good it was. Caesar salad was strong, and the crab cakes were tasty. My wife had a crab cake and lobster tail, which she really liked. She says the wine list was good. Service was good, and the only negative is because of its location, the prices were high, too high. read more

We came here for lunch after visiting the American Visionary Art Museum and were a party of four. It was a little after 2:00pm. After about 10 minutes a server came over and said they didn't know where our server was, that she was probably in the bathroom but would get us water and bread. Our server finally showed up saying she didn't come service out table because she saw 4 black paper napkins which was some kind of code to let someone else serve us. Everything was very slow. Took an hour to get our main courses. Our server said she was sorry but there were several orders in front of us. (Place was almost empty and people who came in after us got food way before us.) Caesar salad had heavy mayo. Salmon BLT had minimal salmon. Rainbow trout portion small for the cost. This entire lunch took us almost 2 hours. Service was great and the atmosphere is nice. It's located right on the harbor with stunning views. My review and rating is based on two things: the food and the price they are charging for it. Let's start with the food. The food was average for the most part. We decided to go with the nights specials and my sea bass was dry and green beans were hard. Our order of oysters had some that were very small with the actual oyster being no larger than a quarter. The price of the half dozen is what you would expect to pay for a dozen anywhere else. Household grocery store wine overpriced along with everything else on the menu simply for the view. Not worth the money. Maybe brunch is a different story. All in all, for four people we spent over $300 here and were left dissatisfied. read more

Location is great expect to pay $9 for parking. The service was good. Seafood in Baltimore can be pricey so expect nothing less here. My boyfriend and I, had crab cakes and crab stuffed shrimp and a few drinks. The food in ratio to the price was ok. The crab cakes were good, just small, more of the size you would get with an appetizer, the stuffed shrimp was ok but the crab was more like a crab imperial. The crab dip was great. Drinks were hit and miss. The view was calming. For a Saturday they seemed moderately busy(around 830). Expect to spend at least $150 to $200. read more

Omg. The crab cake is incredible. If I was at home I would have licked the dish the sauce is so good. Did oyster sampler. All were great. Lobster rolls were out. Big disappointment. But the salmon blt and crab cake sandwich did not disappoint. read more

This was my third visit to Rusty scupper's and every other visit had been quite pleasant. However two things stood out on this visit that are resulting in this review. I ordered the Chilean sea bass which I have had on prior visits and has been amazing. However on this visit I am confident I was not served Seabass but some other lesser fish. Or this was extremely poor quality and poorly prepared. I shared my concern with the waiter who advised he would inform the manager but nothing was ever done and the manager did not follow up additionally the service felt so rushed we barely had any time to sit back and enjoy our meal. We had dinner and dessert and drinks in 55 minutes. Part of enjoying a restaurant of this caliber is being able to relax and enjoy your meal. I did not appreciate feeling rushed. It was poor enough I do not plan to return. read more

Ahhh the rusty scupper!! Every time I come here it never ceases to amaze me. The crab dip is out of this world, had the black and blue swordfish which is knock out great and the mahi mahi cooked to perfection. None the less the bread .... Ooooh the bread and dip is to die for, not being a dessert person this just tops it all off!! Love this place everytime I come!! read more

That view! The view is the reason to come here. The food is okay. The crab cake was great but the rest was eh. The wait staff and manager were very nice, very accommodating and patient as we had an elderly chap with a scooter, no joke they plugged it in to charge it for him during our lunch. You would think that would always be the case but after working in food service, you'd be surprised the lack of patience for the elderly. Wine list was good, beer selection okay. great views, not too pricey, but I am used to New York prices. I took the water taxi there, a good way to start supper. Had two types of oysters, the Delaware ones were delish. Had the bacon wrapped trout. Amazing. but the bacon is totally unnecessary, would be delicious without it but, then..Bacon. so bacon. what was i talking about? good dessert recommend from the bartender, yummy bread pudding. I usually go with something chocolatey but nothing on the menu caught my eye. Bartender was competent but he had to leave his post to go to the kitchen several times. Odd. You'd think a runner would take his food orders to the bar. Its a nice place but it seems like they only half considered the relevance of the bar. Would suit them to have a better tequila selection, five different types of patron is excessive. have a lot of redundancies in their whisky/scotch collection too. and frozen drink machines? really? place is classy enough to refuse frozen beverages, IMHO. taxi cab on the way out turned off his meter and offered the fare as 15 bucks to my hotel. What a joke. I laughed in his face. He didn't know I was from the city and knew what a rip off that was. I made him turn on his meter. the fare ended up being $6. The food was extremely expensive and the portions were minuscule. I don't mind spending if the quality and portion are in line. The food was good, but not great. Also, don't buy the sampler for 2-3 people. You get 1 mussel, 1 oyster, 3 small shrimp, and 2 mini crab claws from a baby crab. Aside from the view, this place is pretty mediocre. read more

Being almost empty, they offered us the table with NO view (they had more than 10 available that time). Came here and was able to go to the third floor. They typically use for private events. They have a great terrace which has amazing views of the city behind the water. Is a great place to drink a rum punch and watch the world go by. read more

Very cool location but service is average and the food is over priced. Comparable restaurants with $30-$45 entrees in the Inner Harbor offered superior customer service and food. Took my wife for her b-day back to the Scupper after wanting to try another restaurant in Baltimore as we came down to grub and "Mamas on the half shell restaurant" had HORRIBLE SERVICE. So we went back to the Scupper for our 10th visit and Again had an awesome meal and great service. My favorite restaurant in the Baltimore Harbor, crab cakes, swordfish, desserts made on site were made to share w/ three people. Key Lime Pie omg, but the sweet potatoes cheesecake blew me away. I'll be back in June and will definitely eat here often. read more

Went here back in May while at a training workshop for my job. The wait was a bit long, we waited about 15-20 minutes before getting our table. I booked the reservation on open table. I got the Salmon that was DELICIOUS!!! Cooked to perfection. It had a great atmosphere, we had a table near the water/dock (overlooking). It'd be a great place for a nice intimate date. There was a piano player at the time we sat down for dinner. It's a bit expensive, my meal alone was $38 not including my drink, a cocktail, that was about $11. All in all, it was a nice place and the food and company was great. read more

So where do I begin. Very, very, very disappointed about my experience tonight at this restaurant. So I made a 9:15pm reservation and arrived on time requested to be seated at the bar to watch Game 3 Golden State vs Cleveland Cavaliers. I sit down at the bar and asked the bartender working if they had the game on which he responded yeah...But we close at 10pm. I told him I had reservations but proceeded to ask for a menu. He said your eating at the bar? Responded yes that was the whole purpose of making request for menu. The bartender appeared really annoyed didn't introduce himself or making any suggestions. This is the first time I have ever eating at a bar or had drinks where the bartender didn't converse or make me feel welcomed dining at location. I first started out with cup of crab soup. The crab soup had no crab and it wasn't even an actually cup serving size. The bartender never asked me how was the soup or anything he just picked up the miniature cup and removed it. Then the bartender had prepared two glasses of wine for another customer when the waiter comes over and asked him which one was the Chardonnay or Riesling? They both took both glasses of wine and placed it to both of their nostrils to figure out which one belong to the customers request. I couldn't believe what I had just witnessed. Then I ordered Surf & Turf dish 7oz Filet Mignon and Crab Cake. The steak was more of a 4oz with no taste at all. The crab cake was 4oz in appearance. The sauce that was for Fliet Mignon was bland and poor quality taste. Once again the bartender never asked how my meal was? I payed $105.00 for meal for myself that didn't even equal $30.00. Additionally payed for parking which was discounted to $9.00. This was one of my worst experiences in establishment that supposed to be considered upscale. Poor service and poor quality food. This restaurant really needs to take hard look at the service and quality of food they present to their customers. read more

I definitely love Rusty Scupper. The views definitely won me over....plus the food was good. The hostess and the waitress were just awesome. Very attentive and checked in to see if everything was okay throughout our time there. The drinks were good and appetizers were delicious. It ha been over 20 years since I ate at the Rusty Scupper. I was in town for a funeral and my cousin mentioned that they had an awesome brunch on Sunday morning. Then she started to rave about some scallop and shrimp Mac and Cheese. So I pulled out my open table app and made a reservation for brunch on Sunday morning. My other cousin, Jason, and I showed up for our 11 reservation and went to town. Jason started off with oysters on the half shell. I hit up the omelette bar and created a masterful veggie and seafood creation that should have satisfied me for the entire day. Unfortunately, I was at a buffet. I made 3 trips in all and sample the Mac & cheese to the old bay home fries. The carving station and the Belgium waffle maker were added pluses for the meal. Our server talked us into a desert platter of strawberry shortcake and done of the best bread pudding that I've had in years. It was awesome. Oh, did I mention the unlimited Bellinis, mimosas and sangria? This brunch is one of the best that I've ever had. Show up with an appetite to get your money's worth. read more

Wife and I went there for our Wedding Anniversary dinner and for this price point you would expect better service and better food. This is a pretty big restaurant but it seemed to have a ton of help so I'm not sure what kept our server from at least checking to see if we wanted more water. Our server was slow unattentive and it was very frustrating. The food was okay nothing to write home about. I got a rib eye wife got king crab legs. You can't really mess up crab legs except that wife had to ask for butter and wait for ever for server to bring it. The steak was very bland had to ask for steak sauce for a $50 steak. Overall not impressed with any aspect of our meal or service and I feel that we would have been better served if we chose another place to eat. Sadly the best part of the dinner was the view of the harbour. read more

Had dinner with a buddy during a work trip.. first the restaurant is in a great location in the inner harbor and the table we were seated at offered a nice view of the water! Our server was nice and attentive, although went on a Monday at 6:30pm and the place was not very busy. We ordered the Calamari as an app and it was really good.. ordered the scallops and at first I was disappointed that there were only 4 on the plate but they were big and filling. We also ordered a couple of drinks a gin n tonic which was well made! And a scotch, also good. Overall this place was better than what I was expecting and I would go back.. read more

I wouldn't waste a dime at this establishment. The quality of the food did not match the price. The wait staff was very unprofessional. Our waitress made a couple of derogatory comments about men and their parenting. In addition, when I found a metal bread tie stuck to the inside of my mouth from the salad, the waitress dismissed it and didn't apologize. When I mentioned to the manager about the incident, his response was "stuff falls in there sometimes. I'll let the kitchen know", again no apology or mitigation to compensate for the error. My partner and I was immediately sat at a nice table with a great ocean view. The view and ambience was perfect that alone deserves 3 stars. Our waiter Deshawn was a cheery waiter and had a good eye for attention to detail. He kept me and my date drinks from the bar refreshed ( we had the Lynchburg Lemonade). The drinks were "cute drinks" that wasn't to harsh to have at lunch. Our appetizer was a jumbo lump crab cake now my only pet peeve about that was the waiter didn't explain to us it was one crab cake but it turned out to be a nice refreshing app along with the fresh bread / red pepper aioli mix. The crab cake was defiantly jumbo lump and savory. My date has the fresh catch Atlantic Salmon and I had the shrimp scampi. My food left a lot to be desired. The noodles were dry and over cooked. The shrimp was only good part of my meal as they were succulent and full of flavor. My date was sweet enough to let me steal a piece of his salmon. I must say that was the best piece of salmon I ever had! Overall I would come back for dinner but I'll be avoiding the shrimp scampi like the plague. read more

Sarah and Carl waited on us and they were amazing!! We were in Baltimore for the first time ever for my boyfriend's 40th birthday and they went above and beyond to make our experience even greater. They took us to the top deck so we could take pictures and gave us a brief history and tour of the skyline. We can't wait to come back and ask for them again! read more
