Good solid choice for seafood with a harbor view. Great service, very friendly and accommodating. Nice atmosphere, but nothing remarkable. We had a table of 4, and started with appetizers of crab dip and fried calamari. Both were very good, although the dip to pita chip ratio was way off- heavy on the chips, and very light on the dip for 4 to share, even with another appetizer. Two of us had crabcake sandwiches, and they were good. Pretty simple, and not anything I'd leave craving, or dying to return for, but we finished every bite. Fries that came on the side were standard issue prefab/ frozen, but hot and crisp. One got the blackened swordfish with buffalo sauce and blue cheese, and he'd highly recommend. VERY good (and I tried it). Another got the mussels, which we doubt were PEI, because they were ENORMOUS and a little too chewy. Overall, a good experience, but definitely a little pricey, when there seem to be so many good seafood options in Baltimore. Came here this past weekend for the Sunday brunch with my family. Our seating was near the window which provided a picturesque view of the harbor. The live jazz band added to the ambiance. The buffet had an array of cold/hot delights that were pleasing to the palates of my party of 6. Aaron, at the omelet station, makes THE BEST OMELETS. I came here last year on a spontaneous trip to NY and decided to stop by Bmore for some yummy seafood with the bf. We were starving and craving some yummy seafood! this place is sort of like Sequoia's in Georgetown---amazing location, great view and nice inside, but very average food (food is still better in general than sequoia's though). The second you walk in you see all of these pix of famous ppl from past years with the owner of Rusty's. I ordered the crabcake sandwich and the bf ordered the fish special (don't remember which one I think might have been mahimahi) of the day...overall, the food was very average---nothing stood out and I left feeling slightly dissatisfied. Not worth the price you're paying for it especially b/c the fish and the vegetables that the bf ordered were overly buttery and bland---I tried it once and didn't want it again! the crabcake was decent but on top of the average service (we waited a good 20 minutes for our check when it was already 9pm and the place was pretty empty and we were ready to get on the road for NY & it took FOREVER for the food to come out even when the place was practically empty!----the bf was eating the complimentary bread like it was his job!!!!!!), all in all, I most likely won't be back for the 2-3 star food for the 4-5 star price. They have the best brunch on Sundays! My husband and I visited Baltimore to celebrate our anniversary and were looking for a place that offered good music, a great ambiance by the shore, and awesome food. This place offered all of that! There's a live jazz band that plays, we sat by the window facing the shore and the skyline. So romantic. The staff is really cool and nice. I would definitely visit there again. The best place to eat as a tourist in Baltimore. It's ON the harbor. It has a view of inner harbor and downtown skyline. The view is incredible day and night. I was pretty surprised at some of the negative Yelp reviews. This is where I went for my birthday Sunday brunch today and it was awesome. The smoke salmon was terrific. There is so much to choose from on this buffet. I've already mentioned the seafood smoke salmon shrimp the raw oysters were very fresh. And of course all the breakfast items you can imagine are available. There is crab and all the other on the toppings you can imagine. There is lots and lots to choose from in terms of desserts. there were cakes, I love the bread pudding. My wife said the croissant taste as good as the ones we had in France. There are also healthy options. Salad bar and so on. So I've never ordered from the regular menu and I would definitely recommend making reservations but it is a really nice view nice meal great service and the live music is a nice touch. This is a special treat place. I will be back again this year. Likely several times this year. If you have a big car or truck you should definitely Park at the top part of the parking garage. We saw a brand new suburban were the driver was shredding it against the pillars in the lower level of the garage. read more

This review is only regarding the Sunday Jazz Brunch which I've attended several times. While I've been here for lunch and dinner it was years ago so I'll stick to the brunch. In sum, the brunch is one of the best I've ever had. Good music, good all you can eat food and drinks at $41 a person. Still, there are some issues they need to work on. I don't think it's too much to ask for since, at least during brunch, management runs around frantically with earpieces. Food - Overall it's delicious. Bummer that they don't use MD crabs. Omelet station chefs are awesome and even showed me the tricks for making the perfect omelet! Make sure to make your reservation time early (see below) so you can get first dibs on food as they stop replacing things about 30 minutes before the end of each brunch. Also, they have no care in the world if an 8 year old with snotty hands puts the tongs in the middle of the salad. Kind of gross as SOMEONES hands are going to touch the lettuce to get the tongs. Saw a chef standing by when this happened and he didn't seem to care. Gross! Online Reservations - Shady! Should you choose to make reservations through OpenTable the Rusty Scupper demands a credit card number to "hold" your reservation. Unless you actually click on "terms" (I'm sure most don't) it appears anyone who makes a reservation this way has no idea that they may charge your credit card if you don't cancel during their astronomically far in advance cancellation window (nearly 48 hours). As I learned, when making reservations this way on a Friday for the upcoming Sunday brunch, I had until 5pm on FRIDAY to cancel to avoid a penalty fee on my credit card. This just seems sketchy and dishonest. Out of all of the reservations I've made far and wide I've NEVER seen this in my life. There's no shortage of customers during brunch so I smell something fishy (pun intended!) I've never encountered such a thing with ANY other restaurant! Best part is if you just call them with your reservation no credit card is required! Hmmm... Carving station - While my boyfriend got a perfectly fine slab of prime rib during our last visit the next batch apparently wasn't cooked. After carving the meat, the carver would then send everyone over to the omelet station where the omelet chefs would then cook the meat when they should be cooking omelets! This occurred as I was waiting for my omelet and no joke it took 5 minutes (checked my watch) for the pan to heat the meat up to a legal medium temp (as the chef informed me). I'd love to know what temp it was actually being served at to begin with. Regardless, the situation definitely created some tension between the omelet stations (who should have been making omelets instead of cooking prime rib!) and the carving station (who should have been serving properly cooked meat in the first place!) Still, the brunch is a good deal and we will probably return again at some point. I just hope they work on their issues. read more

Ate there last night, and I have to say, while the seafood was good, it was not great. We went for restaurant week (which they still advertised but once we got there found out that it had ended the day before- lame bait and switch). Irregardless, we stayed, and ordered the fried oysters to start- not bad, a ton of breading, and for $12, I expect more than 4 oysters... My main course was the diver scallops, with green beans subbed for the spinach, and sweet potato strings (which I'm guessing meant fries). I say I'm guessing because I never got my sweet potato strings, and my diver scallops and green beans were swimming in butter. I actually wiped them off on my appetizer plate (until that became covered in butter) before eating, and gave up with two scallops and most of my green beans left on the plate. I just couldn't handle the amount of butter. DH had the broiled combination- much less butter, and not a ton of seasoning - a little bland In parts. Lastly we ended with the Smith Island Cake- a yellow layer cake with chocolate fudge icing. That was delicious, and probably the best part of the meal. All in all, for $130, I expected a little more bang for my buck. Or at least a little less butter. I really would prefer to give 2.5 stars, but 3 works- the food was average and overpriced, and the nice sunset that we saw out the window didn't compensate. read more

My friends and I haven't seen another one of our college friends that lives out of state, in years. We ended up here for our reunion. Started with a drink at the bar and moved to the dining room. Our server, Demetrius, was awesome and easy on the eyes. The food, not so much. One of my friends and I ordered the crab cakes. Both orders were flavorless and had the consistency of fish vs crabmeat. The mashed potatoes were cold and the green beans were under cooked. We returned both orders and placed and order for the popcorn shrimp and coconut shrimp. Same thing...flavorless as hell. Our other friend's salad wasn't great either. But, she said the cream of crab soup was good. I shared with Demetrius that we weren't happy and he offered to get his Manager, Dan. I explained to Dan that we weren't happy with our meals and he offered to make it up to us. I shared that we didn't want anything, but to share our experiences. He was very empathetic and provided his business card and asked that we contact him so that he can make it up to us on our next visit. That, and Demetrius are the only reason I've given them 2 stars. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with a fantastic view of the inner harbor. However, for an average of at least $20-$30 a plate, I expected more. It's not that the food is outright terrible, but it's not exactly what one would expect for an establishment that holds itself out as being a fine dining experience. I ordered the fish tacos because I thought they sounded nice and refreshing based on the description ("Guacamole, Pico de Gallo, Shredded Cabbage, Flour Tortilla"). Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The portion size was very reasonable for the price: it came with three, medium sized tacos, with a ~2x2 square of ahi and an icecream-scoop size of guacamole. The plate had some moisture on it for whatever reason (perhaps they heated the tortillas?) so the tortillas ended up being almost entirely soggy before I even got halfway through the first taco. The Ahi was overcooked so it had that distinct chewy texture of overdone fish. All together, the soggy tortillas, the chewy fish, and the excess amount of guac without anything else to add texture made the dish generally just slimy and bland. I hate to say it but to be honest, I've had significantly better fish tacos at a random taco shop near a beach and for only half of the price. While I'm sure the menu has some great dishes, I was disappointed with my order. It was mushy and bland, and I didn't find the dishes ordered by the others in my party to be particularly impressive either. I feel as though one of the reasons I enjoy paying a little more for my food is because it's worth knowing that it will be consistently good and flavorful. Nonetheless, the staff was attentive and friendly, and the dining experience was great (other than the food we ordered). Maybe give it a shot if you're looking to try something new, but if you're coming from out of town and looking for a place to go then I wouldn't recommend it. read more

I would give this 4.5 stars but it won't let me and 5 stars is perfection and what's perfect, however that being said - brunch at Rusty Scupper was superb. The Four Seasons is next. My sisters birthday was the last of the January birthday celebrations that I was coordinating. In my continued search for another spot to nosh with friends, food and jazz, I had heard Rusty Scupper was nice,(Thanks to Denny Y). So after making 3 different brunch reservations on Saturday night while I bemoaned the loss of my beloved Baltimore Ravens; I looked at the brunch menu for the Rusty Scupper. If you are not sold on the menu alone - who are you - I ask? When I tell you everything is included - it is, Omelet station, waffle station, bananas foster station, salad station, raw bar, with all the regulars - home fries w/ole bay seasoning, bacon, eggs, fruit, cheese - a complete dessert bar. If I list the whole menu as it deserves it would in facto be the review. Not sold yet, how about all inclusive - champagne, Bellini's and mimosa, coffee Etc. It's a tad bit higher than some are used to paying but this is not your average brunch and with top notch service- our server was Hugh, beautiful ambiance, did I fail to mention the Jazz band and then the beautiful views. The price is worth every single dime. Yes, it was packed. It's only 11am-2pm so make your reservations and get there on time. My friends and I laughed, talked and laughed some more - we told the manager whenever we come back we want the same table...well I can't tell you that you might want it too. Our server or waiter Hugh was attentive, we wanted for nothing. I wanted to take him home but that was not included in the price. Parking costs even on a Sunday so just be prepared or park on the street. Rusty Scupper does offer a discount ask for validation. Last but not least - the band did play "Happy Birthday" and they brought over a complimentary little birthday dessert with a candle. We arrived from Los Angeles and after checking in to our hotel, immediately Yelp and found this gem Rusty Scupper on the Waterfront. We were lead to an amazing table with an unbelievable view of the harbor right at sunset. Actually all the tables had an amazing view. Our waiter, Login was exceptional, and suggested an amazing meal for us, from appetizers to a seafood meal fit for a king to the end all, Butter Cake!!! THANK YOU LOGIN!! Had lunch with my sister and her hubby today. After an hour and half on the road to visit her, it was great to relax at the harbor and have a beautiful view of the water. The lunch started off very pleasant before we were seated and that is were it ended. The server was having an obvious bad day. He was inattentive and unwelcoming. My sister really enjoyed the cream of crab soup and her angus burger. Her hubby had a crispy chicken sandwich which looked too WELL done! He seemed to enjoy it anyway. I had calamari which was over cooked. I became a little irritated with the lack luster service and ended up taking my entree, fish and chips, home for hubby. Hubby later shared with me that the fish was good. Oh....and yes, my sister took home a slice of the Smith Island cake that I had to remind the server to bring. I am not sure that I would go back again based mediocre food and the poor service. The restaurant was almost empty but the service was so slow. I still tipped 18% which is less than usual. I hope the tip helped to improve the server's day and his mood! read more

Great view. Good service. Food is way over priced for the quality. Crab cake was good but needed a lemon squeeze or more salt to pull out the flavor. Filet seemed to be precooked. Meat was gray and did not have a good sear. Cooked to my desired temperature but middle looked more boiled and not red like a fresh piece of steak should look like. Asparagus was tiny, very tiny, and just murdered. For $60 for a filet and crabcake I would expect my asparagus to be on point. Probably will not return unless we try the brunch...but I am still unsure. I am a foodie and expect quality when paying that much $. This is more like catered wedding food. My husband and I make visiting from Chicago a tradition on our wedding anniversary weekend during the Capital Jazz Fest. Came to Baltimore to take my nephew and his wife for celebratory pre-Christmas Saturday lunch. Had seen this restaurant from the Water Taxi so often but never visited, and selected it in part because convenient to our great visit to the nearby Museum of Industry. The restaurant's location on the water is a huge plus, with close-by validated parking, pleasant and very efficient staff. Delicious bread and dipping sauce but as for the main course, perhaps we were there on a off day or with new staff training in the kitchen? The Oysters Rockefeller were very disappointing. The liquid had been mixed w flour or some other thickener that created an awful paste that distracted from the oysters and other ingredients. The rice side dish was perfection but the applebacon trout overcooked as were the vegetables. What could have been fresh crisp green beans were instead tough and swimming in a watery butter liquid. The trio dessert we shared was amazing both in the flavors, variety and portions. So it was a very uneven culnary experience. Given the price tag of $100 at lunch for 3 (no alcohol), with our sharing both the appetizer and dessert, it was not an experience I would repeat or recommend. I would give it two stars. read more

In one word... WOW! I took my lady here for her birthday and we had an amazing time. I made a reservation online and in the comments I asked them for a seat with a nice view and put that we were celebrating a birthday. It was as simple as that, the staff took it from there. We arrived at 8:15 and were sat immediately and while the birthday girl was in the bathroom, the extremely courteous and personable waiter confirmed that we were celebrating. I kindly asked him not to sing or anything (didn't know if they did that sort of things)and he kindly obliged. He suggested instead that he bring a cake with a candle and have the piano player play happy birthday. Perfect for the evening I was trying to create for her. I wanted to try the crab cake but decided to try something different. We ordered the crab stuffed shrimp and a pan-seared scallop dish with spinach topped with crispy onions. Freaking delicious! Some if the components were slightly over salted but nothing that would make me send it back. My waiter might have gotten stabbed with a fork if he even attempted to remove a single item from my reach. We ate every bite and after the waiter took our plates right in cue and so classy. He brought a candle lit flourless piece of chocolate moose cake with a raspberry sauce. Amazing. Sorry for the long review but I was really impressed with this place. The view was nice, the food was amazing, but the service was what tied everything into a nice little bow and made special occasion just that. My lady was impressed, happy, and felt special.
