Not good for sensitive stomachs. Delicious food if you like fast food. Big portions in restaurant but you barely get anything with take out. Take out is soggy, if you go here you have to eat here. I just had to write a new review! I am the type that doesn't deal with change well. Especially when it comes to finding something I like on a menu. (Once I find something I stick with it!) So, my usual go-to from Rusty Pig is their Brunswick stew and mashed potatoes. (Mmmm...I've reviewed it in the past. Down there...somewhere if you look hard enough you'll find it) Anyway, I was craving wings tonight and I had zero desire to go aaaalllllll the way to Pooler after working all day. So, I thought just this once I would branch out and try something new on RP's menu: smoked wings. Ohhhh.....mah....Gawd. I am quite picky about considering chicken wings being "good". These wings were EPIC. The smoke flavor was beyond yummy. I did get a Parmesan garlic sauce on the side, but dude...putting sauce on these beauties is sacrilege!!! Rusty Pig was suggested by a friend in Statesboro. Gave it a try -everything was done well without being overdone. The pork had just the right amount of smoke, people were friendly, the restaurant was down-home, and the young man that ran the store knew all about the preparation. For me, the test is always the ribs and the rub - once again, they had the right amount of smoke and spices, and a choice of tomato or mustard base sauces. Food is great. Chicken a little dry and cold but the Brunswick stew is off the charts.

We called in our order for take out. We got there and the order wasnt ready. The waitress went into the kitchen to make our order and gave it to us straight from the kitchen. We got home 3 minutes from the pig and the food was refridgerater cold. I had to microwave our bbq plates so we could eat it. First time ever being disappointed in the rusty pig. read more

We were out in Rincon today and decided to try Rusty's out, based in the Yelp review. We were not disappointed as they are a solid 4.5 star BBQ restaurant. The staff is very friendly, restaurant is clean and has a nice country atmosphere. The food was very good; I had the ribs which were very meaty. The portion was described as four St. Louis ribs and had three meaty ribs and an end section that had two or three ribs! The ribs were smoky and very tasty, especially when paired with their two sauces. I also had the Brunswick stew as a side which was very meaty and a nice tang to it along with onion rings which were just OK. My wife had the pulled pork which had a nice char and good as well. She had the Brunswick stew and okra which was fried to perfection. For desert we broke down and tried the Sad cake which was a highlight as well. It was described, when we asked why they called it Sad Cake, "as you're sad when you finish the last bite"! Sad cake is a moist delicious blonde brownie with a sweet creamy icing that is soooo...good. read more

Hands down my favorite barbecue restaurant! I always get the pulled pork plate and usually get the brunswick stew. Im never disappointed!! They have some of the best ever sauces to put on the pork. Add to that, a friendly staff and cute, clean dining room and you have a winning combination!! read more

I will NEVER eat here again. They obviously cater to the "to go" crowd, as customer service was way down on their list of priorities. My husband ordered the small chicken plate, which was a very small drumstick/thigh combo with one side for $7.49. The chicken was FAR from being cooked all the way through. It was so pink that it was barely warm. Also, the price seemed really high to us for such a small amount of food. I ordered the large pork plate with two sides for $8.99 and was disappointed with the portion sizes as well. They had two sauces, both in bottles that were unmarked, which led me to visions of people squirting a drop on their finger for taste and then doing the same with the other bottle with that same finger. I ordered a sweet tea and was handed a cup to serve myself. I could live with that, except that they had peach tea in the regular tea urn, and by that time my husband and I were irritated to the point of just walking away, leaving 3/4 of our food behind. There was one good thing on the plate....the one piece of bread that came from a store-bought loaf. The total charge for this life-threatening experience was $21.46 with no tipping. Quite high when we could have spent half that at McDonald's with better customer service and better food quality. read more

I have eaten here about 30 times and it was my goto Friday/Saturday place to the point that my family got sick of it. At first it was very good food and all the staff was very friendly. Over time the meat started to get soggy and then they started messing with the sides menu. The final straw for me was when they took mac and cheese off the sides menu. That alone is a travesty. Now every time I go by there they have some religious nonsense on their sign. It's sad how they used to be the best in town and then started slipping. Instead of fixing their problems they have turned to stoking the religious crowd for business. I have seen other businesses in Rincon do this same thing and they eventually fold. I suspect the Rusty Pigs days are numbered which is sad because they used to be such a great restaurant. read more

I had the pulled pork with two sides, corn on the cob and onion rings. The pulled pork was filling and juicy. They gave a pretty large serving of the pork which filled me up only 1/4 way through it. The honey based sauce was good not great. The corn on the cob was a tad over cooked but still had some flavor, not the best I've ever had. The onion rings were not good, very bland to say the least. The plate also came with a piece of butter bread, basically bought from the store, however I was given an end piece which I thought was Wierd. My brother had the honey BBQ wings, he enjoyed them. The sauce looked a little soupy but still tasteful, the fries were delicious. My father had the sliced brisket with bruinswick stew and onion rings. The brisket was not good at all, it was very fatty and had no smoke flavor or much flavor at all. The bruinswick stew however was perfect and again they failed with the onion rings. I started off drinking their famous sweet tea but this tea was too sweet and I couldn't take it after a couple sips. Overall, I would come back again for the pork and a side of fries.
