I had the pleasure of first visiting Quikys a couple of weeks ago and since then I've been back twice. I was introduced to quickies by a Native of Savannah who lives near me in Pooler and who recommended I try the spot out. Boy am I glad he recommended this spot so shout out to Barry!
Anyway, I would classify Quikys as the quintessential do it all local neighborhood spot. This is a takeout only spot which is located in a pre-60s gas station so parking is directly in front but when packed you may have to park across the street or at the convenience store which is about 100 yards down the block. Service is really good with your order taken immediately upon walking up to the window and food usually showing up in 10 minutes or less. They do take cash app and cards as well as cash
They have a wide variety of seafood, barbecue and traditional, American fare, including Philly cheesesteaks and wings. So far I have had the ribs, the lemon pepper wings, and the Philly cheesesteak and all three have been fantastic.
The highlight is probably the Philly cheesesteak which I have had twice and honestly has been better than some of the Philly cheesesteak places that I've eaten that already in Savannah. It's a very straightforward presentation with crinkle fries, but it is fresh, tasty and well-made. The ribs are also really good and very popular at this spot. You can get a half rack or whole, or you can get what they call a snack which I assume is equivalent to the sandwich version that I grew up with in the Midwest. They have two sauces and I tried both at the same time on the same rib so all I can tell you is that it was really tasty.
And with any neighborhood spot, the price to value is definitely there. Most of the entrées are $15 or less and sandwiches at $10 or less. Definitely a spot I would recommend when in or near West Savannah. These are the types of spots we need more of - especially in the burbs, where the chains have pushed out the locally owned spots. read more
