We got seated right away. The lunch menu is quite extensive with salads, burgers, Mexican dishes and specials. My partner got a hamburger. The burger was juicy and satisfying. The seasoned fries were hot and tasty. I got the fish and fries basket. The fish was crispy with a tender flaky flesh. The server was pleasant and attentive. We went to dinner early as there aren't too many places to eat at near Bryce Canyon. Our service was a little slow for being early 5PM. My wife ordered a burger and she said it was fine. It came with an onion ring and a side salad. My wife asked if she could have a few more rings and she was charged for an onion ring side. The dressing was a watery blue cheese. I ordered a Rib-eye steak with the same side salad and a baked potato as a side. My steak was overdone and tough. It was one of those restaurant steaks that are used for chicken fried steak as it was the same size and taste. Oh well not many choices. read more

The only con i can think of is they do not have cold brew/iced coffee. Which is kind of important to have as an option for visitors visiting the desert. Woke up really early in Kanab, UT and drove to Bryce National Park to hike a bit. Everything outside of Bryce seemed a bit seedy plus had a lot of negative reviews. Wait, seedy isn't the correct work--seemed a bit touristy, like just get the people through the lines sort of places. I stopped at this great little place and ordered the biggest breakfast they had. Everything was cooked to perfection and the staff was super efficient and friendly. Plus, a nice little store right next to the cafe. read more

We were in the mood for some serious protein. We ordered a full slab of pork ribs and shared it between the two of us, along with a salad and a loaf of bread. It was a very satisfying full meal after a day of hiking. It's interesting to find a rib joint that also serves Mexican dishes. Most diner we saw ordered ribs or steaks. Overall a positive experience; if we're in the area again, we would try one of their reasonably priced steaks. read more

I am so glad we did not let the 3.5 star review keep us from driving to "Rustlers" in Tropic, just a sort 12 minute drive from Bryce Canyon! Yes we came for Bryce Canyon, but we will return tomorrow night for the steak at Rustlers! I enjoyed the mushroom burger and this was one of the best burgers I have ever tasted!! Visit Bryce Canyon yes! It was my first visit; it is breathtaking and magnificent! But mosey on down to Rustlers for the best meals in the lovely town of Tropic! While staying in Tropic (population 514), there are only a few places to eat. We had BBQ for lunch, so tried Rustler's for dinner. Very good food, excellent service, reasonable prices. Our server, Arturo was attentive, friendly, and not hovering. I had ranch burger and fries and it was good, but a little greasy. I'm used to the world's best hamburger two blocks from my home in eugene, so nothing ever lives up to that. My wife had the wild mushroom pesto and she says it was yummy. Very appealing from exterior and interior until you get the food !! Tacos plate was average but the appetizers sampler were just ridiculous. 4 wings 3 cheese sticks and rest plate filled with fried green beans. Other than wings nothing tasted any different. All things considered our experience on 11/6 rated a 5 star. 1. During there times they followed Covid protocol although some customers did not 2. They got slammed but handled it very well while being short staffed.. It was a Friday night and many other restaurants were closed even though yelp said they were open. 3. Beer was ice cold and the bread came quick. We just relaxed and enjoyed. we know it would take a bit being as busy as they were but it didn't bother us. 4. The food was surprisingly good and huge portions. Best Ribeye steak I had in a long time and my wife's chicken and ribs was really good too. This restaurant mid to say the least. The staff is nice but the food is simply not anything special. I got the Pasta for 18$ and it was just noodles with marinara sauce. I could have made that on my own stove for a fraction of the price. They also put carrots in the pasta along with broccoli that weren't even cooked. I'm talking literal sliced carrots you buy in a cold grocery section out of a bag. The broccoli was hard as well. Maybe other things on the menu are good, but definitely don't get the $18 pasta. read more

The ratings for this place are about right. Positives up front. Nice ambiance, friendly service, fast. Negatives, most everyone's already touched on. The quality of the food varies with the items. Their fresh bread is superb. Their steaks were ok and cooked to requested temperature. Anything fried I suspect came out of a bag from the frozen section at CostCo or Sysco rather. Their side salad looked like it came from a ready made salad bag with a couple croutons thrown in. Same for the fresh vegetables which looked like steamed green beans and carrots from a bag. My kids wouldn't drink their chocolate milks. Curious, I sampled it and it had a strange synthetic plastic taste. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of dining options in the area, particularly on Sunday. This place will do in a pinch. It's a shame though, this place has such potential. We were looking for a place to eat and it was after 5 and we were hungry. Limited choices. Ended up here. The only good thing about the mean I had was the Porter beer. The waitress serving us was really busy but she seemed to me to be bored with her job, or unhappy. Not the most friendly service. I ordered the wild mushroom pesto pasta and a small side salad. Where were the mushrooms through?!? Why an inch think of olive oil and pesto at the bottom?!? It was a bit gross to me. The salad was ok for where we were, but a lot of water was at the bottom in the bowl. I appreciate clean greens, I do, but I had to pour out excess water into my pasta bowl to show him how much excess that there was. My boyfriend ordered a chicken sandwich and got chicken slabs over lettuce. They goofed his order but he was okay without the bread on the end. This place is not great but it does offer a variety of choices to eat and we were full upon leaving. I just didn't eat the whole mess completely. I left about half of it. Very underwhelming quality of service and food. Our waitress didn't speak very good English and largely ignored us. She broke the law serving alcohol before taking our order. One of our dishes was terrible, one was only ok... the worst was when the waitress literally threw our brownie ice cream dessert on the table and it spilled onto the table. Only had breakfast here and in all fairness, it's my least favorite meal of the day so it really needs to shine to get many stars. That said, it's getting four stars not for the food, which is pretty average, but the staff was five stars. Samantha, in particular, was always so cheerful and attentive to coffee refills and when things got busy, she would circle back with that next cup of coffee and a smile. It's a small town restaurant serving up so-so breakfast (tried the waffle- was tough, eggs- were eggs, cooked to order, and the omelette- funky egg flavor on that one. Toast wasn't really toasted and the coffee was weak. So yeah, maybe the food is 2 stars in my book but service was excellent. read more

We came here for breakfast before our hiking day at 7:30 am. I had the egg white omelet with an English muffin and fruit. It was delicious and the perfect amount of food before a hike. It felt light and was full of vegetables. The only thing is the blueberry's were frozen and thawed in the bowl of fruit, but the apples and strawberries were good. Diner coffee is always the best so I have no complaints there! Service was quick, kind, and efficient. We enjoyed our experience! read more

We ate at most of the places near Bryce so it was time to explore and drive down to Tropic. Typical small town with only a couple of food choices, Rustler's being the most conspicuous. When we walked in I was hit by the hand written sign that advertised a dutch oven cowboy dinner. While in St. George a few months prior, I was treated to a dutch oven meal cooked by the local sheriff's department and it was some of the best food I had ever eaten. I was all in for this meal. The dinner included BBQ chicken, potatoes, corn and a muffin. All of the dinners had ample servings and were old school comfort food. My meal was good but nothing special. The chicken was tender but heavy on the BBQ sauce. The potatoes were tasty but no where near the dutch oven potatoes I had in St. George. The corn was disappointing, tasting like it had sat in a vat of hot water much longer than it should have. The other meals eaten at our table (see photos) received respectable reviews but nothing special. I was hoping for a meal that would force me to make the 90+ minute drive from my home to experience it again but what I got was place I would visit again only if convenient. If you're in the area and need a respectable meal, it is worth a stop. I notice they get good reviews for their breakfasts, maybe we will hit them early next time. read more

All we wanted was pancakes and hot chocolate for breakfast. Not too much to ask, right? Apparently they open at 7am. It was already after 7. To access the restaurant you have to go through the convenient store. So we enter, and the tall blond lady must have not gotten much sleep the night before because as we tried to open door to enter Rustlers she barked "Hold on. Let me open it." Rudely and put out she came over and unlocked door. We said thank you. She, without looking or responding just turned around and ignored us. We then entered the restaurant and waited to be seated like the sign instructed. Literally sitting in the first booth the hostess/waitress proceeded to ignore us, play on her phone, legs up on the bench, more intent on finishing her texts, emails or game...I don't know. We just stood there. She glanced up at us and didn't move until I said to the wife and daughters "I guess she's more interested in her phone than working." At that moment she stared to get up, we just walked out. I said to the lady in the convenient store section "it doesn't appear the restaurant staff is interested in customers." She, with an emotionless face didn't even acknowledge the issue. This place needs to be put out of its misery, along with the jobs of the staff. Apparently they see work as an inconvenient method of making money. They are rude and incompetent. I can't even judge the food since that would require a restaurant that wanted to serve food. Service with a grimace may be the best you can hope for. We didn't even get that far. read more
