Would NOT Recommend. Rustic Vibe. Extensive Menu. Staff= 4 star ! They were pleasant. Wine/Beer Selection= 3 Star: Good for a small tourist town. Toppings for Tacos/Taco Salad= 4 Star. But the actual food brings all of that down to 1 Star. (Go to Showdown Instead. Their food was acceptable for a small town) ... but Rustler's : no. Minor issues: Served bread right away. Seems homemade by the look. Very warm, but tasted like it was microwave warmed. Sampler Appetizer. All of it was "fried". Good flavors, but also tasted warmed via microwave vs. being hot out of a fryer. We were surprised that the jalapeño poppers and Chicken wings were fried. To us, both of those are a baked or grilled item. Major Issues: I ordered the taco salad with beef, with toppings on the side. Big flour tortilla bowl. Only Iceberg lettuce, lots of the inner hard section of the lettuce head that most people throw away ( about 1/4 of the lettuce were those throw out sections). I culled those out. I was surprised that the beef was brisket. not ground beef. Very large chunks of brisket . The beef was at the bottom of the fried tortilla bowl. So I had to dump out the bowl onto my plate to dig out/ cut iup/ cull out the inedible lettuce and brisket. Several large pieces of brisket that were all fat/gristle. Yuck. Once I got all that fixed, tasted the beef =Bland... no taco flavor. It is just not that hard to use cumin, chili powder, fresh garlic and onion ( cooked though) to create a " taco flavored beef" The toppings on the side: salsa, pico de gallo, and guacamole were good; so adding those made the salad edible. No Issue: Hubby had the taco platter: same brisket cut of Beef. He didn't eat the rice or beans. Said the tacos were okay. Major Issue: 16 yr old Grandson had Chicken Alfredo. He often orders this when we eat out. He didn't eat very much of what he was served. I asked why, then looked at his plate. Mixed in with the pasta were LARGE chunks of thick slices of RAW Onion. As in 1/2 inch x1inch. Also mixed in: a large quantity of thick shreds of raw carrot and huge pieces of barely cooked broccoli. Very little chicken. That was NOT Chicken Alfredo. It's not hard to find an easy, tasty Chicken Alfredo recipe On-Line. As we drove away, grandson told us he was fairly certain the Chicken Alfredo had MSG . He is highly sensitive to MSG. He felt an MSG headache coming on. We are 4 hours after the meal, he is still miserable with an MSG headache. Restaurant should state that they add MSG, or use MSG containing ingredients. And if a restaurant is seasoning their recipes with herbs and spices, there is no need to resort to MSG. Would NOT recommend this restaurant. read more

This was a pleasant surprise. It was across the street from the cabins we rented while here in Southern Utah. It was the only restaurant around but boy was it good. Rustlers was truly a great surprise! The large fresh loaf of bread with real butter was great. But the surprise was I got exactly what I wanted. A good sized salad to start that was more than just lettuce and tomato. It had onions shaved carrots and one or two more items. The grilled chicken breast I ordered was cooked correctly not dried out And I ordered the mixed vegetables. I received a large portion of green beans wax beans and carrots, all cooked correctly. And seasoned well to boot. Wife's order was country fried steak and it was was nice. If I can give zero stars, I would. We drove 9 miles from Bryce just to eat here and it left a very bad taste in our mouth - literally and figuratively. First of all, it was not busy when we got there and yet, we were seated at the very back of the restaurant and did not get any service for a very long time. In fact, there was another party that got seated after us and their orders were taken before us. No one looked our way to check on us. We had to make several attempts to flag somebody to ask for our waitress to come and get our orders. We were so hungry and we waited a long time for our food to come, and when it did, one order was missing. The waitress did not apologize and said that her coworker did not "put in" the order and nobody told her. Shouldn't it be her responsibility to double check that all orders were placed? So we had to wait for another 20 minutes for the remaining order to arrive. When it did, she still did not apologize for the inconvenience nor did she attempt to offer anything or reduce the bill as service recovery. And when the bill came, she had the audacity to ask for 18% tip as the lowest range. By the way, the food is disappointing. I ordered the pesto with chicken and the best part of my meal was the garlic bread. My friend ordered pork ribs and another friend ordered the quarter chicken and they were both very dry and lacked flavor. The salmon that came late was also dry and not worth the money or the wait. So spare yourself the hassle of driving and eating here. You will come away still hungry, disappointed, and aggravated. read more

We had to seat ourselves, literally she gave us our menus and told us we can pick wherever to sit. No covid protocols being taken what so ever with seating. Which is unfortunate because half way during dinner the guy to the table next to us was talking about how he just got tested for covid. Ordered the ribs and it was room temperature when given. It was an ok rib. Their baked potato was just sour cream and butter, no cheese, no green onions or even bacon. Just a potato with some sour cream, gross. The waiter was nice but took a long time just to give us a water and seemed to have ok knowledge of the menu. Now to the best part. Ordered a medium rare steak and when we first received it, it was not cooked all the way. It was rare in the middle. We sent it back to the kitchen and our waiter came back literally in a minute with the same steak. We cut it open even more and not much changed. It was still rare and had a lot of fat. I have ate at some pretty good places and I will say this is the most over priced place ever, especially for the quality of food. Pictures can be deceiving, we ate here due to the good looking pictures of the food but it is mediocre. I'm from Houston and if you're traveling out of town to eat somewhere I don't recommend this place. Gordan Ramsey would not approve. read more

Overall this place was good but not great. Given the few options in town this will provide a decent meal. The meals that were excellent were the country fried steak and chicken quesadilla. Large portions, tasty and satisfying. The Hamburger was charbroiled and good but it's hard to mess it up. Caesar salad with grilled chicken was good but small portion for the price. Also ordered a 1/2 slab of ribs and they were terrible- over cooked and dry. The chicken taco plate was also less than desired. read more

Great and affordable place to eat after a long day's hike @ Bryce Canyon. This location is further out in Tropic, Utah, where it's surrounded by smaller motels and mostly living accommodations. My friend and I came here starving! We were pleased to order a full rack of ribs for a decent price! It came with bowls of fresh salad, seasoned french fries (yum! and crispy) and warm bread as appetizer. I loved the bread here - so soft with a touch of sweetness! Beware of filling up on all the delicious bread before you eat your main course! The ribs were juicy, yum and full of flavor. Finger lickin' good. Delicious tender red trout. Nice size portion even for a 190 pound guy like myself. Rice pilaf was tender and seasoned just right. My brother got the beef country fried steak with rice pilaf and mixed vegetables. He enjoyed his crispy deep fried savory steak drenched in creamy sauce. The complimentary fresh baked bread was also hot, soft, chewy, and delicious with the creamy salted butter. Our waitress was very attentive and polite. The only downside was that we were seated first and I noted they served us after the couple that came in much later than us. read more

The price and portions are fairly decent too. Both of our giant plates of ribs and steak only cost $24 each AND each entree comes with 2 sides. I had it on good advice that this was a great place to find a decent meal. And they were right. This cute little rustic diner delivered some excellent croissant breakfast sandwiches before we headed north to Capitol Reef. They are located on Highway 12, a most beautiful and desireable way to go, as long as weather permits. Croissant Breakfast Sandwich: The egg was not scrambled (they didn't ask) but instead, fried until the yolk was hard. The cheese was probably American cheese or a very mild cheddar. There was a slice of tomato and the croissant was spread with mayo, but there was a nice generous slice of excellent tasting ham that made me happy many times over. The croissant was flaky and fresh, definitely a good one. And it was big. The exterior looked like something out of an 1890's Western cowboy movie, the interior resembled a very cheerfully decorated European Chalet, with warm cedar covered walls and open beam ceilings. Not sure if this is the norm, but we found ourselves surrounded by all French and German speaking tourists who appeared to have vouchers for their breakfast, probably part of their tour package. And it appeared that many of the actual restaurant personnel were also European. That part of it struck me as not quite as warm and friendly or attentive as some of our other restaurant stops had been, however it was not a deal breaker. My only negative observation was that the servers seemed aloof and did not help each other out. If someone wished a coffee or water refill, or anything else, it *had* to be done by their own server. They would be flatly turned down if they mistakenly asked the wrong person. Rather disappointing if your server disappeared for long periods of time, which they did. Keeping that in mind, make sure all your needs are expressly stated before your server disappears. Otherwise, enjoy a decent breakfast meal. read more

There is really no other place to eat around Bryce, so we ended up trying Clarke's. I noticed there was only 1 waitress for the whole place, so service was a bit slow. The menu is really small considering they only offered a few items. I decided to order the fish and chips. It came out in about 15 minutes. There was 3 small pieces of fish (see Pic). I didn't like how the breading was really thick. The fish tasted ok. The fries tasted ok, too. The food didn't really WOW me..lol. When we wanted to order some items, the waitress told us they were out of it. For example, some of the beers and dessert listed on the menu were unavailable to customers. This was a bit disappointing, when we wanted to order the chocolate dessert. read more

After hiking the Bryce National Park for an entire day, I wanted a biiiig dinner and this came to the rescue. Soooo glad I picked this place. We were welcomed by a complimentary bread and butter board and it was one of the beat simple breads I've ever had. My body was craving for carbs and the warm bread made for a perfect start. We then went on to order an entree of trout with a side of rice and beans and an appetizer of portobello mushrooms. I am glad we did not order 2 entrees because the fish (check my photo post) was an entire meaty filet of trout with a good sized serving of rice and beans on the side. The fish was delicious, rice and beans - not so much. The portobello mushroom plate was an entree in itself. It was huge and it was sprinkled with what I think is blue cheese and I totally loved it. This is a must stop when hiking Bryce Canyon. It's a great country style restaurant that has a great menu for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Headed out to a Willis Creek and the Ruby's Inn was packed with bus loads of tourists so we decided to give this place a try. Breakfast was delicious and kept our bellies full for the entire day until we finished hiking at 6pm. Was cute simple restaurant 10 min from Bryce city in tiny town called Tropic. Had a smothered beef burrito with lemonade. All orders come with a loaf of bread and butter which was okay. The burrito came with some kind of rice that I couldnt tell what it was other than scraped from the bottom of the pan...as some of it was burnt and hard. Im guessing was supposed to be Spanish rice. I was really hungry and just focused on eating the burrito which was filled with lots of shredded beef and was satisfying. Prices were inexpensive and they had a reasonable selection of beverages and desserts mostly pies and cakes. read more
