Stopped in for lunch after a great hike. We were seated right away and the server was friendly and on time. We got the lunch buffet-- some nice classic cafeteria options-- smoked chicken, pulled pork, and meatloaf along with mashed potatoes, gravy, beans, etc. some steamed veggies too. The salad bar was average. The turkey rueben with fries was the better choice. The soft serve was really good with chocolate and caramel syrups. Stayed at Ruby's while visiting Bryce Canyon and the restaurant in the hotel is definitely the worst part of the stay. Getting in late it was the only place open after 9 and it was either buffet style or order off the menu. After taking a quick look at the buffet, we knew we may be in for a sub-rate meal so we cut our losses and save $15 and ordered shrimp off the menu. One of us got coconut shrimp and the other grilled shrimp and we split them between us. The one bright spot was the shrimp came with a decent amount - 10 coconut and 8 grilled. However the food was quite bad...the shrimp had no flavor, even the coconut one. The fries were horrible. The asparagus was not cooked or even fit to serve. I dropped one on the floor and I was surprised it didn't go through the floor. Service was also bad- really tried to rush people in and out. The drinks came without any straws or refills. The restaurant was large and somewhat clean but also cramped around the buffet area. Came back for breakfast because it was included with the stay. Breakfast was only buffet style. Worst bacon ever. The bread was quite stale. The potato cubes were flavorless. The canyon was lovely and the room here was fine, but do yourself a favor and find some alternate food. read more

We stayed overnight at Ruby's Inn on our visit to Bryce National Park. The Inn offered a COMPLEMENTARY BREAKFAST COUPON from 6:30 to 9:00 am. Anywhere that offers breakfast gets a bonus point in my book. I do not function well in the morning without that adrenalin boost of caffeine and loaded carbs in my system. Location - It's close to the National Park and their General Store and in a historical landmark. What was offered: MORNING BUFFET (French Toast, Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Sausage, Boiled Eggs, Potatoes and Country Gravy, Canned Fruits and Mandarian, Yogurt, Orange Juice, and Coffee) - I had an outstanding breakfast buffet experience. The quality of the food was good, and the service was friendly. While a line was nonexistent at 7 am, guests were starting to roll in by the time we were finished. I also loved the ambiance of a cozy and historical setting. A poster on the wall shows the rates in 1922 - Meat Sandwich $0.15, Served on the plate at the table $0.25, Bed for one person $1.25, Dinner $0.75 to $1.00... On the way into the park, decided to stop in and was pleasantly surprised. Nice decoration and ambiance (though the restaurant was pretty empty when we visited) and very friendly service. We ended up choosing the lunch buffet which had dynamite chicken. We went back for seconds - it was that good! (We did consider a pork chop which was in a curious sauce that the employes couldn't describe and then it was decided as "some kind of gravy" so we passed on that) I was wondering about other items on the menu, but the buffet is hot and right there - you get a good bang for your buck. Fresh corn bread and desserts as well as a salad bar complimented the meal. Also got a slice of meatloaf as I hadn't had anything like that in decades which was a bit dry, but when mixed in with mashed potatoes and gravy, worked just fine. No, it's nothing fancy. It honestly reminded me of National Lampoon's Vacation when the family stops in an "old west" restaurant in Dodge City, Kansas. I was here three years ago and the food sucked and I tried it again and well the food still sucks! I'm surprised that there's not much of a choice for a really good meal in Bryce. There maybe a decent place here and there but nothing to run too. Well, this place is right in the heart of Bryce. Part of the hotel, it's a prime spot and as it easy to get too. It was quite busy both time we came as it was just easy for a meal. Waiting time wasn't that long though. But once your walk in, it was crowded and people everywhere. There's the buffet and menu options. Maybe about 10 percent of the guest that were there had a mask on when the walked in or while there. I feel Like maybe a small potion of the staff only had their mask on while the rest didn't. Food wise, it's a meal. Nothing major to rave about. The buffer had your basic salad bar. The hot dishes, chicken, salmon, spare ribs and so on. The sides, steamed veggies, corn bread, potatoes. The usual buffet. The good thing, they did have gloves available for you while at the buffet. Half used them and the other half didn't care at all. Some dishes did go fast and took a while to be replace. The dessert bar your usual carrot cake, German chocolate, and vanilla cake. All was still cold and needed to be thawed a while but just brought about anyways. Also had the ice cream section as well. We had the same waitress both visit. This was awful for dinner, but okay as a standard hotel breakfast in the morning. Dinner: My husband ordered the bbq brisket melt and had to send it back to replace with a grilled cheese. It was fatty and had the consistency of a weird lunch meat. He had a baked potato with it that was rock solid. I fared slightly better with the country fried steak. I also had a baked potato which was at least edible but not suggested. The best part was the salad, which was one trip to the salad bar. It is a standard salad buffet. The pricing is pretty high considering the quality of food. Unfortunately, there aren't many other options and nothing in the area gets stellar reviews anyway. If I had to do it again, I'd just stick with the salad bar and skip the hot options. The breakfast buffet has eggs, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, fruit, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, cottage cheese and a few other options. If you normally enjoy hotel breakfasts, this one is okay and worth the price if you're staying there (free/included with your stay). read more

I was initially a bit skeptical on coming here after reading the other reviews, but it wasn't as bad as I had thought it would be. There is a sign on the door that says masks are required but it was definitely a policy that wasn't enforced. I saw several people being seated despite not wearing or having a mask. However, all of the staff members were wearing masks. I ordered the fish tacos and they were okay. There wasn't too much flavor but I will say that the fish tacos with the fries was a good amount of food. The fries weren't what I was expecting, but it was fun to eat fries that looked different that the traditional fries. They looked like thick chips and were very crunchy. Overall, I don't think I would stop by here again if I was in the area. For the prices that they charge, it does seem a bit expensive for the food that you get. read more

I went with a party of 11, first to the store and then to the restaurant. We all agreed that the food was not that great in consideration with the prices. I ate Buffett food and they surprisingly did not as many options as a buffet should have..maybe because it's in the middle of nowhere? Two of us didn't like the meatloaf at all (too chewy, not seasoned enough, undercooked almost). One of us got the chicken gravy steak and it with the mashed potatoes were covered in gravy, she said it was hard to enjoy. Another one of us has the coconut shrimp and she did not like it, too much coconut and no tartar sauce. The salad bar had the most options. Nobody took their leftovers. This is a fantastic stop for anything and everything you could possibly want. From breakfast to souvenirs and everything in between. It's connected to the General Store and that's another great place to visit. Here at the restaurant, the food was really good. Our waiter, the service and the portions, all great! We both had the eggs,hash browns,bacon and toast. Really good, extremely reasonable and we shared buttermilk pancakes, the best we have had. They were slightly crispy and delicious. Terrible food and service. We ordered the following for take out. We were there to pick it up before the food was ready. First of all, we were ignored by their staff while waiting in the payment line. They served two other parties before I had to go up to the lady and ask about picking up the order. Apps ordered: Mozzarella sticks Southwest egg rolls Buffalo chicken wings Entrees Halibut fish tacos w fries Mushroom ravioli Total: $83 The mozzarella sticks were luke warm and cheese hard. The buffalo chicken wings were tasteless and they didn't have extra buffalo sauce when we asked for it, so they are not made there. The halibut was extremely dry and also probably frozen. Their "fries" were a joke, somewhere between fries, potato wedge, and chips. Also it was cold. The only good thing was the southwest egg roll, which again tasted like it was purchased from Costco and then heated up for us. You're better off getting frozen food from a local store and heating it in your own hotel microwave. At least that food will be hot and not cost $83. read more

We were seated very fast, but waited for a waiter very long. We made our orders, I ordered salad and steak. The waiter brought me a bowl, told me to grab salad at the bar, and left. I had to walk around the restaurant looking for a bar. I'm glad I found it because that salad, that I made myself, was the best thing I ate there. They brought me steak, I couldn't even cut it normally it was so hard. When I chewed it, felt like I'm chewing a steak gum. It felt like they reheated that steak a few times. I had dinner and breakfast here.  Breakfast is buffet. The breakfast buffet is the usual breakfast items of eggs, fruit, bacon, and pastries. Food was good, nothing special. Staff was good at keeping my coffee cup full. For dinner, you  can order from the menu or have the buffet.  I chose the buffet for dinner as I like to have different options.  The dinner buffet was definitely worth it.  The salad options were good.  I tried the meatball, chicken,  beef, and meatloaf.  All pretty good after an afternoon walking through Bryce.  They had several types of soups available but no chili.  Had a desire for chili since it was getting cool at night.    Overall, I was satisfied with both meals. read more

The ribeye is one of the worst steaks I've ever had. Think Sizzler, but even worse. The meat isn't 1/2" think. The loaded baked potato was as bad. I had to pull 2 handfuls of bacon bits out of it to even but the cold butter on it. The potato tastes like what I would imagine licking the inside of a bacon bits box must be like. My vegetables were 5 tiny pieces of flavorless asparagus that were so under cooked, I could barely chew them. read more

After a 10 hr drive and checking into BW Ruby's Inn, I was too lazy to drive anywhere else to grab a meal and decided to risk the 2.5 star rating. Disclaimer, I frequented this establishment three times during the Covid pandemic, once for dinner after my marathon drive and twice for the free complimentary breakfast associated with my stay. Too busy to separate tables, restaurant values profit over adequate social distancing and safety. I had the worst BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich and fries of my life. Consistency of the pork was like slimy mash potatoes, fries were cold and and in my bottom five of all time. My daughter ordered the spaghetti, she also declared worst meal she's had in her short 13 years of life...guess I'm raising a little foodie. Breakfast was subpar, but you can't argue (or rate) with free... Bottomline - don't make the same mistake I made and eat a paid meal here, it's definitely worth the short drive to Tropic or just outside the town to dine at some of the higher rated restaurants. read more

The service was fine. The women's room had a backup toilet; that wasn't pleasant. Bathrooms should be spotless. We came here to redeem the free breakfast vouchers with the stay. Very cheapie breakfast but can't complain. It was ok. I wouldn't pay to eat here though. The food is not the healthiest or tastiest. We came to Bryce during the winter offseason, and Ruby's Inn is one of the only options available for dinner time. Ruby's Inn has a cozy atmosphere, with a lot of history, and friendly staff. However, the non-buffet food really is not good. We stayed at the hotel so it was very convenient having the restaurant steps away. But there is a big trade-off in the quality of the food that they serve. In the morning, we also had the breakfast buffet, and that was actually pretty good. I would come back for breakfast - it's nice having that for free for visitors staying at the hotel. But if you're coming to hang out during dinner time, stick to the beer and dessert. Minnie's Brownie Sundae and Coors Light hit the spot. Cocktail wise, we had the hot toddy. That was very watery and needed a double shot of whiskey to make it enjoyable, and actually taste like a hot toddy. Overall, trust that the actual food is here best to be avoided altogether. read more
