Good Food, good service, unlimited quantity, good variety, open during the day until 9

My family and I went to this establishment beginning of this month. Food was ok but not good, service was poor, and I know it's just tap water but refrain from drinking it. I know I will get a lot of bias towards this but my wife was at the end of the booth breastfeeding our child. The two young waiters/employees looked and said "what the f**k" and began laughing. I saw one of the employees behind the fountain drinks, attempting to pull his phone out secretly, and pointed it at our table. Once he saw me staring at him, that's when he put his phone away and began sweeping the floor. Not only was this embarrassing for my wife but embarrassing for this whole establishment. I saw a sign off the I-15 advertising Hong Kong Buffet at 84 N Main St, Cedar City, UT 84720. So I figured-Why Not? Anyway, I couldn't find it so I had to use Yelp maps, which worked great! This was an older, family run restaurant that has been here for about 20 years. It is kept very clean and gives a nice impression. Since it was a Sunday, there was only dinner, which had everything available you could want. I had the corn soup, egg foo yung, mandarin ribs (my favorite A+++), egg roll, seafood bake, cheese rangoon, shrimp dishes, potstickers, etc. The sushi bar was really good with lots of choices. Desserts were incredible with just about anything you could want such as fruit, jello, pudding, cookies, cakes AND 4 flavors of hand scooped ice cream. The service was very good considering it's a buffet. Everyone working there was very polite and attentive. The restaurant is family oriented and has food everyone would enjoy. This all you can eat buffet hits all the popular dishes-the variety is impressive. I loved the egg drop soup and the fried donuts the best, but everything I tried was pretty good. I was shocked at the low price-I expected to pay a lot more than I did. My only complaint would be the temperature of the food. Some things came out fresh and were hot, but a few things had been sitting out awhile and were dropping heat. Nothing was cold per se, but definitely not as warm as I would have preferred. Me and my entire family got food poisoning from this place. We never got checked on once, nor did we get refills on our drinks. The spoon for the ice cream was sitting out in a pool of very disgusting water. Food looked like it was sitting out all day. When we were leaving we were asked if we'd like to leave a tip we said no thank you do-to our service and experience, and they didn't even wait till we walked out the door before saying bad things about US! read more

Super easy to find! My husband and I went for lunch and it was tasty!!! I think the prices were extremely fair (only about 15 per person), so you definitely were able to get your moneys worth! The individual who helped us was kind and really quick. My favorite was the orange chicken and potstickers!!! Excellent food. Lightly fired with really good crumbs or batter. Lots of sea food selections including shrimp on the shell and clams. Standard chicken and pork dishes trending on the sweet rather than hot side. Lots of different styles of sushi. Variety of tupical soups and dumplings. Excellent dessert counter that includes a selection of scoop-it-yourself premium ice cream flavors. No waiting because it is self-serve! Staff not particularly cheerful, but ambience is modern, bright, well-lit and clean. Prices were a couple bucks more than what I was expecting, but food was worth it. read more

I recently went to eat there and it was 85 degrees and blowing warm air, also much of the buffet was cold and from btw night before. I told the workers it was hot and they were very rude I will never go again! The hot and sour soup was terrible and tasted burnt. read more

Great food and service, If you like orange chicken, fried rice and clams this is where it's at. There is also mint ice cream but last time I was here there were cockroaches squirming on the counters by the ice cream. I was visiting Cedar City to participate in the Belgian Waffle Ride (a bicycle race). I wound up coming here for dinner two nights in a row. First to carb up in preparation for the race and again after the race to celebrate. We loved the spicy clams, the fried shrimp, crawfish, salmon sushi and the steamed fish. Every item tasted fresh and well prepared. For dessert, they had 6 different flavors of ice cream. Scoop your own and build a massive sundae. $14.99 per person for all you can eat seafood dinner is an incredible bargain. Especially when you consider how good everything tastes. A similar meal in Los Angeles would cost more than twice what they charge here. This is a family business. Their kids bring drinks and utensils for patrons, and also clear plates. I go to this restaurant frequently and am usually satisfied. The food is usually ok and the restaurant is usually clean. The reason for the 1 star review is because they don't accept their own coupons. The reason I am upset is because when you issue a coupon it's usually valid until the expiration date but Hong Kong Buffet apparently chooses the dates for which they accept coupons. It just seems really cheap that they won't accept their very own coupons, when you try to use them they make up rules so that you can't, but by that time you have to pay the bill. My final advise for Hong Kong Buffet is, when you issue a coupon and then say that you can only use it during a certain time frame you NEED to specify that time frame... what a rip off. There are so many things I could say about this place, and they would all be true, but I'll start with this.. I have not been active on yelp in 5 years and this place was so legitimately terrible that I felt it my civic duty to redownload it for the purpose of writing this review. God forbid you do not heed my warnings of this restaurant, and try it out for yourself you can expect: The food to be cold, flavorless, tastes like the ingredients went bad 3 days prior, tastes nothing like the oil it was cooked in, or in a horrid concoction of malevolence, all of the above. Do not try the sushi. Seriously, don't. With each bite you take here, one can here the spinning of a revolver cylinder, because you are quite literally playing Russian roulette with food poisoning. All in all, this place is eerily reminiscent of the gates of Hell, for " abandon all hope ye who enter here" is quite true of this place. But hey, at least the decor is nice. read more

Who would have thought there would be a Chinese buffet in Cedar City, a small town with a majority of whites? Who would have thought Chinese buffets would serve decent food? Who would have thought they would have some of the best ribs and crab? No, no and no, but yes, yes and yes, they all happened. So much variety for a cheap price with friendly service, clean grounds and good quality food in a small town when you come with no expectation, of course it's a 5 star! I am never a fan of BBQ ribs, but I think I ate 4 big pieces. Not a fan for skimpy crab legs either because it's not worth my effort but I had half a dozen of those. Maybe I was just really hungry, but as I recall, my standards don't compromise much even when I'm hungry because I live in a first-world country. Anyhow, they have lots to choose from, chow mein, fried rice, veggies, stir fry, not much of a sushi selection, but unless you want to get sick, eating sushi at a buffet where the storage temperature is not optimal is generally a bad idea. The most important thing about a buffet, is that the tables and floor are clean. Also, it didn't look ghetto at all. Wow, keep it up Hong Kong Buffet! This is your typical Chinese-American buffet. There is a nice selection of items here. The staff here is also your typical Asian-Chinese staff. Some of them understands English, while others do not, and also some just understand a bit. I also felt like this place was just lacking service as well. My water cup stayed empty for the entire time I was there. We had to save the waiter down to ask them to refill the sodas. Now on to the food. You get a choice to go for the buffet or order food. Ordering food will be much of a hassle cause it seems like the normal waiters don't know how to take orders while they have to get someone else to take them. The food that my friend ordered looks exactly like the food in the buffet. So I'm not sure how worth it it is. For the buffet...you have a variety from your typical stir fry to sushi to soup and salad. My favorite thing here at this buffet (and I was surprise they have it) was the crab legs and their salmon sushi. Do be aware that some of the sushi does run out, and there isn't really someone making the sushi until you actually tell them and they will start making more. The dessert section of the buffet is very similar to all Chinese buffet places. There are your cut fruits, the chocolate cake, almond cookies, the flakey pastry with a white and chocolate icing and ice cream. I usually just go straight for the fruits and ice cream because the rest of the dessert isn't worth it. It's your typical Chinese buffet here and the only reason why it's worth it is the crab legs. If you have kids and they are obsessing over Pokemon go (or if you are) there is a couple of pokestops (some with lures) here and also wifi. read more

Recently moved to Cedar City and have been waiting to try this restaurant out for my birthday today. I went with my daughter who is visually impaired and has a guide dog. We were met by a male employee who asked if the guide dog is a service animal. The answer of course was yes. Then as we went to set down he said, "just one thing, the dog will have to go under the table (that is where she always goes, that is what she is trained to do) and, he continued, not come out at all while you are here". I looked at him and said, "she is blind, the dog is her eyes, she will not be staying under the table". He then said, "I will have to ask my manager if you can stay" he then left to go speak to the manager. I watched as he was speaking to another employee for about 2 minutes and decided we would just leave. We walked out and they were walking toward us and I said, "Nevermind, we are just leaving and will take our business elsewhere". They discriminated against my daughter, they broke ADA guidelines and they were very rude about it. I will not be wondering any longer how their food is as we will never return. read more

We came pretty late yesterday and had no time to dine in. So we decided to take out the food from buffet. We like sushi very much. Because the time was late it was not good choice on them. The sushi man was so kind and helpful, he cooked for us specially fresh sushi on our request. Even we could order sushi rolls that they didn't have in their buffet menu without any additional price. The sushi were so good with a lot of fish/staff inside. We even didn't expect to get suck good quality from the buffet menu. All other food was very good and fresh. Even they offered some special Chinese courses that sometimes it's difficult to find in regular restaurants. Because we were very tired from the long road we forgot to leave tips. While there is a great selection, they don't keep their steamers on high enough. Our food was cool. I hesitated getting some fish items knowing they were barely warm. The young man at the entrance was not personable AT ALL and when we mentioned the cold food the woman offered all kinds of excuses. But after reading other reviews, same complaints 5 months ago. Food is still on buffet line but Server places your choices into styrofoam box for you. Cost is $5 dollars per pound. My styrofoam container was completely full, I couldn't eat it all and paid $5.40. I feel that the serving temp. is lower and sometimes just warm and they do not taste as good. There are however a good variety of foods. I don't give out many five stars but this place absolutely impressed me given the location...a small city of around 30-35,000 people in south western Utah. I've been to much larger cities claiming to have Chinese food but if it matched this quality, it didn't in variety. First, it's not really a Chinese buffet. It is more pan Asian. Mostly Chinese style but I had teriyaki chicken skewers, a variety of sushi, and some Singapore stuff. There were at least five buffet islands each containing 10-12 selections. Any Americanized item desired cooked Chinese style including some things I would not expect. If I were local, I'd eat here a lot. The place was swamped with folks. Hard to not run into someone helping themselves. It is very inexpensive for all you can eat. The gals were attentive in clearing plates and it is a clean facility.
