Delicious! The atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming. I love the large screens showing the menu when you first walk in. Online I had read there wasn't a suffer on Sundays, so we were pleasantly surprised to find the buffet set up and available on a Sunday at 4pm. It was the first time our 10 yo tried Indian food, as is typical he gave a bite by bite review, the overall experience was given a 9/10. His favorites were the tandoori chicken and Indian fried chicken. My husband and I loved everything we tried, the goat and lamb were both tender, we had a variety of the options. This place is different from Indian we have had elsewhere. The good, it wasn't crowded, they told us they home make their own yogurt in house, they are very friendly and attentive. I was a little surprised we were served on paper plates and out of the plastic to go containers. That was a first for me. My husband liked his Tandoori Chicken, and I had the butter chicken. I didn't dislike mine, but it was not as good as many I've had, less spices. I don't like hot, and it wasn't, but I mean spices for flavor. The mango lassi was ok, but lacked that tang we enjoy usually with one. Ordering was interesting, they have you order as you come in like a fast food type place, then they seat you and treat it like a dine in experience with great service. However, they ask for the tip like when you order and pay like fast food. It was unusual, so we opted to leave a cash tip afterwards since we didn't know what kind of service we'd receive. All food is mild... but... they have plenty of condiments to spice things up to your desired heat level. This was a great experience. Here we go. Absolutely terrible naan because it was so tough to chew and undercooked. You could actually see the uncooked sections in the naan. The mixed vegetable coconut korma was pretty bad because it had huge carrot slices and tasted like canned soup..really disappointing. The chicken tandoori was pretty decent, but unfortunately this will be a "try it once/not going back" restaurant for me. If you're in the Saint George area stick with Red Fort as they are so consistently good every single time. Look at the ownership feedback, from a truthful review i posted. We're expected to pay top dollar for our food, but how dare we say how are experience went. Folks, that ownership feedback (read the comment from the owner of my review) should be all you need. Maharaja is amazing!! My family and I went for the lunch buffet after seeing a lot of great reviews on Facebook. On a Saturday afternoon there was a steady stream of customers. We were seated right away, so it wasn't over-capacity busy, but busy enough to have a fun, bustling environment. For $14.95 each we were able to get 3-4 helpings of some of the best Indian food we've ever tried! The dishes were all an appropriate temperature (which can be hard to accomplish with buffet style meals), everything was fresh, and staff were quick to replace empty trays with fresh food. The flavor of the dishes was incredible. I also had a mango lasi, which was a wonderful. All the staff we interacted with were very friendly and cheerful. Decided to try their lunch buffet. They have several choices both chicken and Vegan. Overall the food offerings were good, wish the chicken had more spice, the vegan offerings actually had more spice flavor to enjoy. The butter chicken was totally bland. The tandoori chicken was dry because instead of leaving it in whole pieces, they cut it up which allows it to dry out. The Chicken Tikka Marsala was good, but I have had much better. The Naan bread was cooked perfectly and was excellent paired with the vegan options sauce. Again the vegan buffet options were a pleasant surprise, because they had great flavors from the added Indian spices. The Onion Bhaji, Aaloo Pakaro, Basmati rice with cumin, mixed vegetable coconut curry and Chana (chick peas) Marsala had appropriate spice and were flavorful and delicious. The rice pudding was good, but it was missing a spice, maybe cinnamon, that elevates the flavor. The service was friendly and helpful. Soda choices were limited to canned options, no fountain drinks, no refills. The restaurant was clean and inviting. Finally had a chance to try Mahajara and it did not disappoint. All of the food was so flavorful and if you're like me I always stick to butter chicken and tikka masala. Being that Mahajara is buffet style, it was the perfect opportunity to try other dishes. The food is really good! The service was amazing and the owner is very kind and passionate. We went here on a whim. It was a wonder experience. The ambiance was relaxing. The food was delicious. The service was great even if they were short handed. The food came out in a timely manner. The waiter recommended the lamb tikki masala (mild) for my husband and the butter chicken (medium) for me. We ordered garlic and garlic cheese naan bread and the mango lassi. They are very nice and the service is good but the food tasted watered down. Not a lot of flavor. Granted I am from LA with great access to amazing cuisine so maybe for Utah this food is an exotic thrill. Ambience is nice, cloth napkins type of place but also not crazy expensive. Oh!
