Leftover Food At Mandarin - No Take Home, Either.
Donovan H.

If Chinese Fusion Is Your Cup Of Tea...Then Mandarin Is For You. The Shrimp In Lobster Sauce Was Regular Sized Shrimp In Clear Egg Drop Soup. The Chicken Lo Mein Was Just Okay And Fried Rice Wasn't What I Expected. If You Come For Won Ton Mein In Soup...You Won't Be In Luck. They Only Offer 2 Small Won Tons In a Soup Cup, No Noodles (Mein). Note: The Shrimp Chow Mein Is Something To Think About Too. The Chow Mein Is "Bean Sprouts" and NOT Noodles. (Good Luck With That!) Service Was Great. I Can't Lie About That. After We Ordered, We Found Out There Was A Dinner Menu, Which Wasn't Provided. After We Had Already Ordered, We Asked The Waitress If There Was A Dinner Menu, Then and Only Then, It Was Provided. Ambiance Was Great And We Came In Just Before 2pm, Without Any Crowds. So...If You Enjoy Asian Fusion Dishes...This Place Is For You. For Me? I'll Stick To Real CANTONESE Style Chinese Food.

Stopped in again and had the Mongolian Beef, this time I asked for no sugar - they said it was probably a fluke, that sugar is not normally added and it was gloriously absent this time Again, great prices, fast service and tasty food next time I'll order from the extensive sushi menu.

To start it's in an old depot but they did a great job with mixing the Chinese restaurant atmosphere in the beautifully preserved depot. Next up are the pleasant and attentive yet not obtrusive servers. But the be all and end all is the food. Authentic, fresh, flavorful and plentiful servings reasonable prices especially the lunch specials of which there is a wide variety. I had Sa char beef and my wife had sweet and sour chicken. Egg drop and hot sour soups also were perfect.

Orange chicken. Delicious!

Did take out again. We got the orange chicken, honey chicken, fried rice & lo mein ILO white rice. Total was $43. A bit high, but everything was good! Service was great. We've also been here a couple time for sit down & always great service! We'll continue to come & recommend.

Staff seemed quite busy without many people there..took a while to be seated. Very nice waitress, but again had to wait for water glasses to be filled. Food came quickly, was delicious overall..wished they had a kids menu because we ended up spending $140 for our family of 6. Not ideal. Two of my kids said they thought they found bones in their chicken, but I could not confirm or deny. I would not be back..maybe for the lunch specials, but not during regular hours.

Mandarin Restaurant is a gem for Cedar City, Utah. I just could not believe that Yelp has lead me to this beautiful and authentic Chinese cuisine for a late tofu snack and a cold Sapporo. The service is amazing as food and drink to the table was fast. Our server was super helpful, friendly, and polite. I enjoyed looking at all the Chinese art and dining at this Chinese restaurant. I wish I were hungry so I could order a feast! Highly recommended! You won't regret! I definitely will return!

Are any of the soups gluten free?

I would say the egg drop soup since the thickening agent is corn starch. You may want to inquire if any soy sauce (which contains wheat) is used in the recipe.

The ambiance was very homey and welcoming! Ryan, our server, was great! We had a fun conversation with him, and he recommended some of his favorites, which made the experience even better. We went with a ribeye steak, cooked and flavored to perfection. We also tried the Alfredo pasta with shrimp--it was creamy, rich, and absolutely delicious. Ended it with three desert because we couldn't choose one-- highly recommend the limoncello. It was very light, with the perfect tinge of lemon. The lava cake & ice cream is always my go to! And the homemade tiramisu was probably my most favorite. I'm honestly not of fan of tiramisu but this was probably one of the best I've tasted. Highly recommend & will be coming back next time we're in town.

At home! I was my last day visiting, so we wanted to hang out at home. We ordered the lasagna, I know... Impossible as they are always out, chicken pesto, and the Positano - rigatoni. Even though we had them as carryout, the food is excellent regardless of whether it's in the restaurant or at home. The front desk guy noted how we were lucky, we got the last piece of lasagna! With that in mind, and all the reviews, we had very high expectations for the lasagna. Collectively, out of 5 stars, we would rate the lasagna a 4. It was tasty, and the white sauce that it was served with was delicious, we enjoyed that twist on the standard red sauce lasagna. For me, while it was excellent, I felt the Positano rigatoni dish was much tastier. We all agreed the lasagna, while excellent, was a bit salty for us. The pesto pasta we added with chicken. It was a very good dish. My son was a bit disappointed as he said it was very light on the pesto compared to the last time he had ordered it, it had a lot more pesto. I tended to agree that it was very light in the flavor, I would say almost an imperceptible hint of pesto. We were looking forward to a robust pesto dish. But it was still a good dish! We would rate it 4 out of 5 stars. Now for the piece de resistance... The Positano rigatoni. The sauce was rich and flavorful and delicious! Italian sausage was a treat... This is definitely our favorite and for us, the most flavorful. My son's girlfriend has ordered it previously, and we all agreed we understood the recommendation! 5/5. Although we did not dine in, the restaurant is beautiful, light and airy, a very open ambience. Next time I am in town for a visit, we will definitely dine in!

The hostess seated us promptly (with luggage in tow). The restaurant is pretty spacious, so that worked out just fine. We enjoyed our food (a cobb salad for me and a burger for her). Janessa was our server and she was lovely and attentive. We then made a reservation for a larger group for that Saturday evening and Kyle and Mia helped us out... The reservation needed adjustment last minute due to a change in schedule that day and after multiple phone calls, they were able to accommodate that change. Note: it seems there is not a direct phone number to the restauarant so I had to work with someone in the hotel lobby for this. Interestingly enough, we ended up having dinner here on Friday as well with a large group. Huge thanks to Kyle and staff for working with us that evening... We worked out a large group order to-go but sat down for our drinks. Need to know: Due to Utah Liquor laws, adults who are drinking alcoholic beverages must be seated... that was a new fun fact I learned when making the reservation. On Saturday night, the restaurant had a bit of a condensed menu and they were out of salmon, which was a bit disappointing, but after having 3 meals here, we do recommend the wings, nachos, and burgers. The area in the back of the restaurant with games including ping pong is great for the kids and there is also a grassy area out back too. I know that this restaurant is fairly new and working out the kinks... I look forward to returning in the future as I know it will continue to get better.

I specifically mentioned that we were hoping to watch Supercross, and I was assured that wouldn't be a problem. However, when we arrived at our reserved time, we were told they would "look into" changing the channel because they weren't sure they could access Peacock. We decided to stay, ordered drinks and appetizers, and checked in multiple times with our waiter. Each time, we were told they were still working on it. After waiting for over an hour, we were finally told they couldn't put it on after all. The most frustrating part is that we would have completely understood if they had told us upfront. We could have made other plans and gone somewhere that could accommodate our request. Instead, we spent a significant part of the evening waiting and hoping, which took away from what was supposed to be a special birthday celebration. Afterward, I noticed similar feedback from other guests about difficulties getting channels changed, even when it seemed possible. That was disappointing to see and makes it feel like this may be a recurring issue. The service itself was polite, but better communication and follow-through would have made a big difference in our experience.

If you look at its operating hours then you are like, "what the heck?!" Who opens just Tuesday to Sunday, 5 to 9PM? That's a grand total of 24 hours a week! Well once you have their foods then you change your minds. The foods were super delicious. The elk sliders, the clam chowders, the filet mignon, and the prime steaks were all on point. Please double check that the steaks are not over cooked. The filet mignon was the only piece overcooked for us but the kitchen made up for it. It was also such a big piece of filet mignon that you normally cannot find everywhere. So we were definitely happy campers. As for the ambience the place is upscale and reflects the high end steakhouse feel. So pricing reflected as such which is perfectly fine by me. I just don't get other local places charging equally high prices when the setting is casual. Oh one regret was that the bison steak was not available this time around. Can't wait to return for that!

It was kind of dry. he ordered some gravy to go on top and our waiter brought him out some and that made all the difference. Could also just be how we're used to eating meatloaf and my husband thinks every meat has to have a sauce. Lol He also got the French onion soup and thought it was absolutely amazing and scarfed down every bite of it. That was recommended to us by the waiter as one of his favorites. I got the filet mignon and chose to top it with truffle butter, I was not disappointed. It was cooked perfectly, nice and lean, and the truffle butter was done just right not over the top, paired perfectly with the steak. I would highly recommend that. We got the calamari which was nicely battered (lightly) It was cooked correctly, and they even added fried okra in with the pepper mix. That was something unique to me, but it actually paired perfectly and I really enjoyed it. The aïoli that came with it was delightful as well. So overall, we would definitely recommend this. It is nice on the inside, but I wouldn't say upscale suit and tie kind of place, I did feel a little out of place walking in there and hiking boots and sweat though.

The service is impeccable, and training that has been given to the staff shows with everything they do. Their service is really that good. My problem is with the food and the poor plating. Normally everything tastes absolutely fantastic, but unfortunately, lately we have been going on Sundays when the chef is not there due to our schedule. The last time I went, I think we found Jimmy Buffett's lost shaker of salt in my Gorgonzola topping for my steak. It was so salty I actually had to scrape the topping off just to stomach it, and eventually just stopped eating altogether because it hurt my tongue so bad. It's been 24 hours since I tried to eat their food, and my tongue still has cracks in it and hurts to move. That is an abnormally large amount of salt. The "Flambé" wasn't just a little salty, this was clearly a salty mistake that was made in the kitchen, and they couldn't care less that it had happened. The crème brûlée was curdled and the staff had issues serving the wine. We ended up with no apologies, even after kindly and respectfully voicing our concerns. With so many better choices in St. George, I probably will not be coming back.

Funny thing is that it's such a small request that can easily be taken care of immediately. Okay the highlight was the wild game meatloaf which was also the saving grace because I normally don't like meatloaf and this one was really well done. It made up for the dry burger and the average service as well as the so so ambiance, considering everything is quite expensive for a casual dining place.
