Amazing place! From the time you get inside they are greeting you and making you feel welcome. The menu is just right. Not so many things that your head spins but just enough to have a nice variety. I'm a local that has lived in Bunn my whole life and I love Rustic Roots and the positive impact it has had on our little community. Came for an early birthday dinner tonight and got the salmon with the sweet potato risotto and it was AMAZING. I also got the gingerbread cake and my sister got the brown butter cake fore dessert and both were absolutely to die for and I don't even have a big sweet tooth. Betsy was awesome and very attentive, would love to have her again whenever I come back. There was even a happy birthday sign and a signed birthday card which was a super sweet touch that I loved. Rustic Roots is AHHHHMAZING! I wish I took pictures of the rest of my meal which was- potato skins, bruschetta, filet and a sweet potato with butter and brown sugar. This place is soooo good. I really enjoy eating here. There is truly something special about this place. It's one of the few places that my entire family loves and requests to go to. Response to owner- our reservations were made well in advance for Christmas Eve. A female employee called me the day before Christmas Eve to apologize that you had decided to be closed on Christmas Eve... leaving us with no reservations for Christmas Eve. Worth the drive to Bunn. Friendly service and a commitment to locally sourcing ingredients. Foodies definitely welcome but burgers and other items for other palettes. Pleasantly surprised by the pickled North Carolina pears served with the locally caught Black Drum atop a sweet potato purée. Save room for dessert- the chocolate chess pie will satisfy any sweet tooth and the banana pudding will have you reliving childhood suppers. Deviled eggs with bacon are excellent but pricey. Be sure to try the Juicy Bread, also pricey but worth it. read more

Delicious! Everything we ordered was delicious. The tacos, from the small plate menu, had me saying Wow! Filled with Ribeye meat, fresh onions, and Creme Fresh on handmade corn tortillas with some kind of tasty red sauce on the side. They were just fantastic. The wedge salad was a half head of crisp lettuce large enough for us to share. I ordered a Blackberry Bramble (with vodka) for an alcoholic beverage, and it was yummy. So much so that I had another, and at $15 each, you know it had to be good to get another. My husband found Red Oak on draft, so that was his choice of beverage. Red Oak is always best on tap in our opinion but hard to find. He also had the 12 ounce Angus Ribeye for dinner. Huge flavor and perfectly cooked, well, at least for me. He likes his steak a bit less red. But he ate the whole thing, so it must have been good. I ordered the Mahi Mahi. Again, all I can say is it was delicious. Moist, flaky, and well seasoned. The risotto and pineapple salsa were fresh and just the right accompaniment to the fish. We ended with the Brown Butter Cake. Fantastic! If you like cinnamon and caramel, you'll love this decadent dessert. We will definitely be going back. Oh, the bill came to around $156, not including tip. So the place is not inexpensive but it was worth it to us. read more

This place is awesome! If you are looking for a true farm to table restaurant, this is it. We have had 4 meals at Rustic Roots. The food is great, the staff is extremely nice. Plan ahead, they are often booked days in advance, especially on the weekends. The owners are very welcoming. We have had the Gouda mac and cheese, deviled eggs & bacon, hog wild nachos, Joyce Farms chicken wings, chicken sandwich, cheeseburger, and the Ribeye steak. As I told Russ Vollmer, I have eaten at steak restaurants all over the world, including well known, high end steakhouses. I am not understating it to say this steak is amazing, the most flavorful steak I have had. You'd think the steak would be our favorite menu item. It is very close. But the chocolate chess pie is the absolute best! If that wasn't enough, Rustic Roots has partnered with one of our favorite breweries, Tar Banks Brewery in Louisburg. They are planning on rotating beers specifically crafted for Rustic Roots. Currently they are serving Juicy Blue Summer Blonde, that is infused and served with fresh blueberries from Vollmer Farms. read more
