My husband ordered the shrimp and grits, and I went with the chicken and waffles with a side of grits. I'm giving it 3 stars mainly because of the chicken. What came out were chicken tenders, which was disappointing. All the photos I saw beforehand showed full pieces like breasts or thighs, so getting two small tenders felt a bit underwhelming--I was honestly caught off guard. That said, the waffles were phenomenal. The grits were phenomenal. And the service was phenomenal. Overall, the ambiance, curb appeal, and especially the chicken brought this down from what could have easily been a 4.5 or even 5-star experience.

From the cocktails to the small plates to dessert, this was one of those dinners where we just kept ordering things...and somehow they kept hitting. We started with drinks, and my dinner date ordered the Rum Old Fashioned--absolutely amazing. Smooth, well-balanced, and exactly the kind of cocktail you sip slowly because you actually want to enjoy it. I had the Orchard Sangria, and it was delicious! Light, fruity, refreshing, and not overly sweet. The fresh fruit made it even better, and it was one of those drinks that goes down very easily. I would absolutely order it again. Then we started working our way through the food, and this is where Bodega really shines. The concept is perfect for sharing, ordering a few different things, and letting the table slowly fill up with dishes. Everything was beautifully presented, and there were so many different flavors and textures happening that dinner felt like an experience rather than just a meal. The potatoes were perfectly crispy and seasoned, and the Peruvian chicken with pita was another standout. But that creamy crab dip with the toasted bread! Dangerous. The kind of dish where everyone keeps saying they're done and then somehow another piece of bread ends up in the dip. The lamb meatballs were beautifully presented and packed with flavor, with the sauces bringing everything together. Overall, there wasn't a dish on the table that felt like an afterthought. But apparently we decided we needed to finish STRONG. I ordered the Crème Brûlée Espressotini, and whoever decided crème brûlée and espresso martini belonged together deserves recognition. Rich, creamy, coffee-forward and indulgent without being too much--it was basically dessert in a cocktail glass. And then came the **brown butter pecan & pear pie! ** Rich, buttery, nutty, slightly gooey, and served with cream and that drizzle of sweetness around the plate--the pear kept it from becoming overly heavy, and the brown butter and pecan flavors were everything. I would absolutely order it again. Bodega gave us great cocktails, flavorful shareable dishes, beautiful presentation, and an ending that might have been the best part of the entire meal. This is definitely a place I'd come back to because there are still things on the menu I need to try. 5 stars. Get the Orchard Sangria, share a few plates, and whatever you do, save room for that pie and a Crème Brûlée Espressotini. 10/10 would recommend.

We regularly have sushi next door at Mizu, so we've seen the Onion for years and really didn't think much of the place from the outside. Wow...were we wrong! Inside is a bright, open, BIG dining room with several big comfy booths along one wall. TVs line nearly every wall playing whatever game happens to be playing at the time (admittedly not our favorite, but hey...it's a sports bar). Staff is super friendly and very helpful. The biggest surprise was how extensive and diverse the menu is. For our first time my wife and I decided to get a couple orders of tacos and split em. Fish tacos were hot and super crispy and the seared tuna tacos were very fresh...light yet filling. Both had incredible flavor and all the ingredients were the highest quality. We were very impressed. We look forward to coming back again to try more of their menu...and enjoy a few beers along the way!!

It would have been nice to know that's how they do the service experience up front. I think the primary factors in my rating are the price of the extra 2oz cup of Bleu Cheese dressing to take with my leftover wings and the 3% CC charge. If I knew the little cup of dressing was a dollar, I would not have taken it. Then there's the now ubiquitous 3% charge to use a credit card. I totally get that the card companies charge the fee and this is painted as 'transparency', but it just doesn't sit well with me. Maybe restauranteurs and other establishments that add the card fee could look at the sales with and without credit cards and just raise the menu prices by that percentage so it's not in people's faces. There's enough 'extra charges' in my life and it would be great to see one disappear.

They also offer karaoke if you're brave enough. Our waiter was awesome, super easy going and nice. Not to mention, he brought me a second tea before I was halfway done with my other one! That right there is an immediate extra star on my review. We all ordered hamburgers. I had the candied bacon and jalapeño cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. It was delicious! The cafeteria style restaurant gives you an opportunity to see all of the offerings ahead of time. In addition to trying to fish, I have also had an opportunity to sample some of their sweets. The bar area (with plenty of tables for dining) was packed and looked cozy, but the main dining area is huge and had only a few tables in use. We questioned our restaurant choice, but decided to keep an open mind and give it a try. We are so glad we did! The food was really good. Nice presentation and clearly, whoever prepared it is truly passionate about their job. The portions are large, so expect leftovers. We ordered a fried shrimp appetizer (similar to bang bang shrimp) and a chicken quesadilla as starters. Each could have been a meal on its own and both were delicious. (It's typical bar food - but done well.) For our main dishes we ordered Shepherds Pie (server's recommendation and favorite menu item ), Northern Fish Fry (cod); and a simple cheeseburger with bacon.. everything was tasty, nicely prepared, and again...large portions. The Shepherds Pie came with fresh steamed veggies that were wonderful and a nice surprise. *Note that cod is the Northern Fish Fry- but they also offer a catfish version. The wine was 50% off both by the glass and bottle, I believe that is their typical Saturday drink special. They have a prime rib special on Saturdays as well that is supposedly delicious, and served only until they run out. There is an 8oz or 12oz option. The server was fantastic as well. She was very attentive, knew the menu, and clearly enjoys her job. What more can you ask for? Prices: Our total bill (before tip) was $127 which included a couple drinks from the bar for each of us. The dinners we ate ranged from $16-$20. The starters were a bit pricey (~$18 for the quesadillas) but again, it was meal size and truly delicious. If you are hungry for a burger or typical Irish bar food, then give this place a try. Hopefully you'll have an experience similar to ours! (Our server was home from college for the holidays, so hopefully the rest of the staff is equally attentive.)

My wife and I waited for more than 10-15 minutes and still no acknowledgment. We have been going there for years and WE WILL NEVER GO BACK. And we have been loyal customers. I will never bring my business clients there nor my golfing buddies. We have found a new bar where we are appreciated and treated with respect.
