My husband ordered the shrimp and grits, and I went with the chicken and waffles with a side of grits. I'm giving it 3 stars mainly because of the chicken. What came out were chicken tenders, which was disappointing. All the photos I saw beforehand showed full pieces like breasts or thighs, so getting two small tenders felt a bit underwhelming--I was honestly caught off guard. That said, the waffles were phenomenal. The grits were phenomenal. And the service was phenomenal. Overall, the ambiance, curb appeal, and especially the chicken brought this down from what could have easily been a 4.5 or even 5-star experience.

The lobster ravioli was rich and perfectly cooked, the cheese ravioli was fresh and full of flavor, and the spaghetti and meatballs tasted like true homemade Italian comfort food. You can tell they really care about quality and presentation. If you're in the Knightdale area and have been thinking about trying it, don't let the empty parking lot fool you. The restaurant was located at the end of a strip mall. The interior is really clean and posh. We were seated quickly and our server got us situated right away. We ended up trying out the garlic knots and the margarita pizza. The knots were AMAZING. Some of the best I've ever had. The pizza crust was lovely and the pizza was HUGE. One slice and two knots had me full. I enjoyed the fresh ricotta on the pizza (my boys were not big fans, so we got some plain cheese for them instead). The only potential ding was once we were sat, the service from there was really slow (a challenge with two special needs kids). The wine list was reasonable both by glass and by bottle - much more so than most upscale Italian places. I took the remainder of our pizza back to the hotel and then home with us after our event -- reheated a couple slices when we got home in the oven and it was still delicious. Overall a really pleasant experience. If we're back in town again in this area, we'd absolutely visit again.

It would have been nice to know that's how they do the service experience up front. I think the primary factors in my rating are the price of the extra 2oz cup of Bleu Cheese dressing to take with my leftover wings and the 3% CC charge. If I knew the little cup of dressing was a dollar, I would not have taken it. Then there's the now ubiquitous 3% charge to use a credit card. I totally get that the card companies charge the fee and this is painted as 'transparency', but it just doesn't sit well with me. Maybe restauranteurs and other establishments that add the card fee could look at the sales with and without credit cards and just raise the menu prices by that percentage so it's not in people's faces. There's enough 'extra charges' in my life and it would be great to see one disappear.
