Love this bakery! The coffee is 10/10, the pastries are all delicious and their menu selection of food to order is great! Lots of sitting room inside and outside. Super cute location, very aesthetically pretty bakery, the outside is beautiful. Must try when you visit Marin country mart.

Went there this morning and had their ham and cheese quiche and hot chocolate. The quiche was one of the best I've ever had. The hot chocolate was great also.

Nice little bakery/cafe. My sister lives up the hill so it's super close by. Nice selection of pastries ( we came during the week- weekends may be a different story) and a nice menu of breakfast items, sandwiches, quiche, 2 soups of the day, and 1/2 sandwich-soup combo. The soup sandwich combo was the best I think. Hubby liked his turkey emmentaler sandwich which was on a roll. Cousin got an avocado toast with thick slices of avo. They also have a selection of boxed cookies and sweet treats for sale. Nice and casual with some tables inside. If eating in, they bring the items to your table.

If you want the best quality pastries around, rustic has you covered! I use them for work catering on occasion and they are always a hit. The restaurant is located in a cute little mall (The Marin County Mart) and has indoor/outdoor seating. It's always pretty busy, but moves quick. There soups and sandwiches are always a great option for lunch as well as the salads. There is not a bad item on the menu!

Nice place in Larkspur Landing. Outdoor seating is nice with umbrellas Lots of customers always specially on a Saturday during the farmers market. Seasonal selections But regular menu is good. First 6 sandwiches only for the +soup or +salad combo. The bread here is good. Sandwiches are excellent. Got the 1/2 sandwich and 1/2 salad. Excellent!

I've been a loyal customer at this location (and Larkspur Landing) for years and Lorena always recognizes me. I'm happy to see that they've persisted through COVID-19 and it seems like customers and the staff are getting more attuned to safety protocol. I understand that their offerings and hours have been minimized to accommodate the changes in business and demands. Their vanilla lattés are one of my staples and I'm quite partial to the granola parfait with fresh fruit. Today, I got a ham and cheese croissant to share with my son and they offered to heat it up, which made the cheese in the center deliciously gooey. But, to be fully transparent, the reason that I was motivated to write today's review was because we found sustainable silverware in our take-out bag today. As someone who is routinely dismayed to find a stash of plastic utensils in most of the take-out/delivery bags that arrive these days, even when we have requested otherwise, finding that Rustic Bakery has moved ahead with their sustainability goals - amidst all of the current challenges made me really happy.

This is for the Rustic Bakery on Magnolia Ave in Larkspur (NOT the one in Larkspur Landing/Marín Country Mart.) My first time here. Asked for the one scone in the case. Label said "apricot and almond." While waiting for my coffee, bit into scone which was salty, not sweet. Closer inspection revealed a cheese, corn and jalapeño scone. Waited in line to exchange. No scones left so I got a cinnamon roll. Tasty but a bit dry (at 10:30 AM.) Went to bathroom to wash sugar off my hands. Room was filthy. If this is how they keep the bathroom up, what does that say about the kitchen? I'm giving it a 2, only because the personnel were pleasant.

Small, quaint bakery/eatery with wonderfully baked goods. Popular breakfast and lunch spot for super casual eats. Think sandwiches, soups, pastries and breads. I've tried slices of their olive oil cake and pecan bars. Both were deelish - fresh, perfectly baked with just enough sugar to satisfy your sweet tooth. What I love about this place: Very relaxing outdoor umbrella seating with great people watching opportunities, but seating fills up quickly on sunny weekends! Alternatively, there's a fair amount of inside seating with a communal table and seats along the window. A lively vibe inside is an added plus.

As I waited inside I admired their beautiful decor (especially that green wall!), and peeped all the equally-beautiful pastries on display. Oh la la! I ordered and paid at the counter/register and was greeted with a lovely French accent. I assumed that my order would take awhile given the bustling crowd inside and outside. But it was ready within minutes - a hot, smooth latte hit the spot and powered me for the remaining drive north. Le Marais is easy to find at the far end of the Marin Country Mart - abundant parking is all around. Before I got back in the car, I took a quick walk through the shopping center. I'm not a regular and was unfamiliar with the process but it seemed disorganized. I was given a number. I noticed an ice tea on the counter and asked if it was for me. A little later, the pastry was bagged and on the counter in a different place. Finally, I saw a bag and asked. Yep. The sandwich. I felt like a dummy for not understanding how the system worked, but also was annoyed that I tipped 20% for a takeout order and it was delivered piecemeal with no way for me to carry it. A kind person who watch the whole thing offered me her bag. If not for her, I would have had a sandwich in a loose paper wrap, a bun in a small bag, and a cup. The sandwich was okay. It had two slices of bread, not the traditional three. The turkey was clearly deli meat, not fresh roasted, the lettuce was wilted immediately, the tomato slice was good, and the avocado slice was good. The bacon was sparse, as was the deli meat. My husband didn't eat much of it. He liked the cinnamon roll. But for the money, he didn't want to have food from there again.

Today I needed a cafe with internet access but with actually good desserts (no thanks Starbucks) and solid tea and espresso drinks, so I came to Jane's and grabbed a lemon blueberry slice, an oat milk chai, and got some work done. I found my cake chilled and needing time to sit out and soften, but although not the perfect temperature, it was moist, sweet and flavorful. Authentic Croque Monsieur -- one of the best I've had in the States (just oversized!)…read more Stopped by Le Marais Bakery (Buvette du Marais) at Marin Country Mart in Larkspur for a sunny outdoor lunch. Ordered the Croque Monsieur with side salad and a Maison Perrier sparkling water. This is a proper French-style Croque Monsieur executed beautifully. House-made pain de mie toasted to golden perfection with crisp edges, quality ham, plenty of melted aged Comté and Gruyère, and a light touch of béchamel that binds everything without any heavy, saucy overload (I didn't even spot a thick layer in the cross-section, but the rich, nutty flavor came through perfectly). It arrived piping hot, which made all the difference -- gooey cheese and satisfying crunch throughout. Flavor-wise, it tasted more authentic than most versions I've tried elsewhere in the U.S.: balanced, comforting, and not greasy at all. The simple mixed greens salad on the side kept it fresh and prevented it from feeling too rich. Paired with the crisp sparkling water, it was an ideal light-but-satisfying lunch. The only non-authentic thing? The size -- I've never seen a Croque Monsieur this large! It's generous (in true California fashion), but everything held up well without getting soggy or overwhelming. The outdoor setting is pleasant -- brick pavement, dappled sunlight, relaxed vibe. Their bread and pastries clearly shine here, and this savory dish holds its own. Highly recommend if you're craving a genuine French bistro classic in Marin. I'll definitely be back -- probably for one of their famous croissants or a crêpe next time.

My "Soft Scramble" was a pile of astonishment. It was so unrefined that it was an insult the the ingredients. There was nothing soft about the eggs, they were overcooked. The only thing soft on the plate was the watery run-off from the vegetables they heaped into the eggs: Too many chewy mushrooms and HUGE. Too many cherry tomatoes. I had to dig to find the eggs. The leeks were strips of inedible ribbon. The toast? I think it had been toasted yesterday and left on the top of their oven overnight and then reused today. I had to get up from the table and ask for butter to make it edible and still I worried whether I was going to break a crown. The pickled vegetables? Again, HUGE, hard and barely pickled. I will refrain from criticizing the service because they are all unaware of the nightmare in which they are working. Bless their hearts. I was so sad and annoyed. People think they can buy a restaurant with recipes and wholesale accounts and staff and just run it, "business as usual" but they are wrong. I went in and asked if they had sold the restaurant and was told, "yes." I imagine some tech-bro's wife or some hedgefund community doodler wanted a pet project with zero idea about food or food quality or how to treat and retain employees because what happened to MHBB is astonishing. It's rude and insulting to anyone who opened this restaurant and put in their best to keep the name and claim to be catering to the same people. But then again, this is par for the course or, from my vantage point, everything wrong with what's happened in Marin in a nutshell. Faux authenticity. Zero care. This is now all about the money.
