I love Runza. I am biased. The original that I got was hot and fresh and so perfect. The chili I had with it was also good. My wife loves there SW Chicken salad. We both got cinnamon rolls.. and they are improved from the older version. I've heard great things about the Philly cheese and mushroom Runza sandwiches, but I always get the original. It's what I grew up with and now that live so far away from their stores it's the first thing I want for lunch when I'm in town. This is a great location. Very handy. Highly recommended. read more

The first thing I noticed when we got here was that the parking lot is tight and awkward. It's hard to get turned around, especially with the drive thru right at the narrow entrance, and when they are busy it backs up to the street. The service is very slow but at least they were all friendly. They crammed too much in the bag and my burger was completely squished. Kinda disappointed because we were traveling through to somewhere with no Runza's. And the burger and Runza's were so peppery it was difficult to eat. Plus the amount of grease leaking out made everything in the bottom of the bag soggy. Overall very disappointed! I grew up in Nebraska and ate Runza frequently. I now live in Colorado and we were driving through and stopped for lunch today at this location. The building was very clean but the employees didn't seem to know what they were doing and apparently according to the cook nobody had pulled any Runza's to be made so all of a sudden they got a slew of orders and we're running frantic trying to fill them when they didn't have the product ready. The manager finally yelled at two of the employees and said just go home I'll figure this out myself! They must've thrown the Runza's in the microwave and rushed the order as every single one we had ordered was exploded and wasn't at all how I remember Runza. Never had Runza before. Never seen a Runza before. But he grew up with them and wanted to eat here. So we went. There wasn't any chicken or fish alternatives on the menu that I saw so I picked the bacon cheeseburger meal. I learned later that they have a couple of chicken options. I think I would have liked it more. But they have frings which are onion rings and crinkle cut French fries in the same container. That was excellent - I love French fries and I love onion rings and this way I didn't have to choose. Their fries aren't that good though - soft and not as crunchy as I like. The onion rings were well cooked. Easy to bite through - the onion doesn't all come out as the link is not cooked enough. Very good. The bacon cheeseburger was average. Kinda small. Perhaps a Runza sandwich would have been better but I don't eat a lot of meat and didn't feel like one. He liked his meal and so did his parents but not my cup of tea - or burger. I ordered with my family in the drive thru we got our drinks from a nice young man then we waited for like 3-4 minutes which I would say is a little fair considering that it is fresh and good. Then we were given our food by a different man we quickly left as there was a little line behind us when we got home we had none of the right food. So I called and they told me to come pick it up so we did they have it to us for free and gave us a free upgrade to large and a free cookie. We heard when in Omaha you have to have a runza and that is what we did! First off this is a chain but where I live they don't have this chain so it was new to me. The place was clean the staff was friendly and the price was great for it being a fast food joint. Now let's get onto the food! It was good! It reminded me of an exotic hot pocket but of course way better!! I really liked the bread. You can tell it was made fresh that day. It had the "yeasty" (is that a word?) taste to it and it was fresh and soft. I was shocked for this being fast food. I ordered the philly cheese steak (of course I did- it's like my favorite go to meal) and it was hot with yummy melted cheese and nice veggies. Would I go back? Yes I would. What garbage food. Cheap ingredients, horrible taste, definitely the worst American fast food. Never, ever going back. If you like this place, your taste buds have been killed by too much cigarette smoke and deer jerkey. McDonald's is a major step up from Runza. The Runza sandwich, fries and onion rings is what I ate and I regret every bite, and I didn't take very many before it ended up in the trash. Update: the following two days I had very bad diarrhea and a fever. I'm from California and this Runza was in Omaha, where I was traveling for business. I later found out from the locals that "Runza gives you the runs-uh". I also later found out that Runza is extremely popular and people travel far and wide to eat it. I can't figure out why. After about five minutes of waiting at an unattended counter I asked the other two customers ahead of me if they had ordered yet. Neither had ordered. This has to be some sort of Nebraska inside joke. I came here because I was told I had to try a Runza while I was in the state, and the reviews checked out too. I took four bites and threw it away. The only reason I took four was because I wanted to be sure I wasn't missing anything on the first three bites. Nope, that was one of the nastiest sandwiches I've ever had. This wasn't even a likable type of gross. I can get down with that... I'm not opposed to enjoying a huge Taco Bell binge, a late night Hot Pocket, or even Cici's Pizza buffet now and then. I've been to this runza quite a few times in my years living in Millard. The food is decent, nothing special. Service is okay, the staff doesn't seem particularly happy to be there. Also they do get my order wrong about a quarter of the time, usually leaving out the ranch I asked for, and the last time I went I ordered a large fry, but got a medium sized fry in a large fry box. My advice is this place is pretty good, just be sure to thoroughly check your bags before you drive off. read more

A must-try for an authentic NE experience. Good and different from the same-old burger fast food. Fries are nothing special and the kiddo won't touch a runza with a 10 foot pole (despite liking fried cabbage). They also sell the sandwiches frozen to make at home, which works surprisingly well (we've used them for work parties and it was quick and easy!). read more

Okay, as an out-of-state visitor, I just had to try Runza. I got the meal deal with "frings" (half onion rings/half fries) and the traditional Runza sandwich. It was served very hot. I'll say it wasn't as photogenic as their advertising would indicate - but this is fast food so everyone knows that nothing ever looks like the pictures. It was okay. I can see how someone might pick-up a Runza, wait a few minutes too long before digging in, and then find that it had devolved in a soggy mess. That's very easy to imagine because it felt like it was getting soggy while I was eating mine. All in all, not a bad choice for a very filling meal. The French fries and onion rings were fine. I should also say that the place was spotlessly clean and appeared to be very well maintained. When in Nebraska, stop in for a Runza, but eat it quick! read more

The Runza in Longmont, CO has good food. The problem is getting my order the way I ordered it. In the past, I ordered onion rings with honey mustard and a southwest salad. They gave me no salsa or southwest dressing for my salad. Instead, they gave me honey mustard, tucked into the salad! Next time, I ordered onion rings with Onion Ring Dip, which they actually charge for. I got back to my hotel room (about 10 miles away) and discovered that they gave me NO Onion Ring Dip but instead gave me catsup. I am not a fan of catsup with onion rings; and I am quickly becoming not a fan of Runza, because the staff in Longmont cannot listen to me and fill my order the way I order it. read more

Having been to many of the Runzas in the Omaha area, this one is by far my hisband's and my favorite. You can tell the owners really care at this location. It has the best consistency and quality in town. The fries and rings are always crisp, and the Runza buns are never soggy. Can't say the same for some of the other locations around town. My good friend and I came to Omaha with our sons to play in "The Omaha Slump buster baseball tournament". We were staying across the street from Runza. Never been there and being from California had never heard of this place. What a great surprise! To start, when we came into the restaurant, I asked where could I find a battery charger for my cell phone? The owner gave me directions where I could go. After ordering our lunch, one of the employees said,"The owner went home because he had an extra charger he wanted to bring back to his restaurant for me?" I was blown away. He pulled up after we had finished lunch and gave me his charger. What a great guy! He then asked if I tried the Runza, which I said no, but the hamburgers were way better than In and Out where we are from and they need to move westward to California. The customer service at this location is top notch. I was visiting from out of town and wanted to bring a few Runzas back with me. The staff walked me through my options and was incredibly thorough.
