I'm not happy. I just spent $27 on two combo meals with shakes that were delivered completely melted and the original order was wrong. I checked the order before I left because there's been so many mistakes recently. This order was incorrect. They wanted me to pull out of line and park while they made onion rings. I asked him to put my shakes in the freezer so they would not be ruined by the time the hot order was corrected. He said he would. They brought the food out and walked away without an apology. The shakes had obviously NOT been in a freezer since the cups weren't cold and the contents were watery. I ordered a large meal to go and I was given a medium cup & fry. When I left a one star rating on the survey, I was told that they no longer have large sizes anymore. I have been going to Runza off and on for a number of years, so I am quite familiar with their food. Unfortunately, the wife and I went gluten-free almost two years ago, so most of their items have wheat in them. That is not a factor in my review, though I do miss their Runza sandwiches, particularly the mushroom and swiss. Their chili is quite tasty, too. The wife and I bring our own shredded cheese, as the price is much better than if ordered as an add-on. All-in-all, they are a good place to go, even with my dietary limitations. The positive thing about this Runza is that it participates in local school fundraising programs which I absolutely applaud. We have been to this Runza four (4) times. Three times for school fundraising and once to see if the food would be any different when they were not under a rush. The food did not improve. Corndogs were cold, hard and greasy. Hamburgers were bland and simply not very tasty and the Runza (Mushroom and Swiss) was inedible. I took one bite and spit it out. Texture and taste were awful. Went one other time to give a standard Runza a try since so many people rave about them.......while it was better than the one I spit out, I simply don't see what all the commotion is about. It was meat wrapped in fried bread. I thought it could use more seasoning and while it did come out hot..which was good, I still ending up throwing more than half of it away. I know there are people who rate this place at 4 and 5 stars, but this family isn't eating there anymore. The food is not worth the expense. Much better places to get fast food. read more

I'm a Cali girl so I've never heard of a Runza before. My husband assured me that we will get one once we arrive in Nebraska. I am so glad that he introduced me to Runzas. They original Runzas are these little hot pocket like concoctions with cabbage, cheese and ground meat on the inside. I noticed that they have at least 4 other flavors but of course I had to try the original. I dipped mine in ketchup and got hooked on to them immediately! Too bad they don't have Runzas outside of Nebraska otherwise I would eat them every week! read more

My original location, 50th & Center, would also get 5 stars though. It is a RUNZA! I was lucky to have my mother with me. I convinced her to let me order a cheeseburger with everything but onion, a swiss & mushroom Runza, a fry, and an onion ring. This way we can split it and I can have a heavenly bite of all of my favorites. I must say, the first 3 did not disappoint! The burgers have a combination of juiciness and pepper that I cannot resist. They Runza was gooing out the side with plump, cheesy mushrooms. These are the most perfect fries: crispy and salty on the outside, hot and moist on the inside. They sell frozen Runzas to take back "home" with you. Only problem? The frozen ones only come in regular. No cheese. No mushroom and swiss. BOO, hiss! I have always known why it is legendary in Omaha. Now I need you guys to open one in Chicago!! read more

About 5 years ago I saw something about Runza on the Food Network and was like whoa...meat wrapped in bread, sounds awesome. I came to visit a friend in Omaha and sadly, had no time for a Runza. But I never forgot about it... I never thought I'd be back in Nebraska again, but I was this past weekend and was determined to have myself a Runza. Umm....5 years....for this?? I had the cheese Runza and it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. Kind of like a glorified Hot Pocket. The filling was some sort of ground beef, potato, onion (?) filling. Like a croquette (or corokke in Japanese). I give this place 3 stars though because the girl who worked here was very nice. I was asking her about the Runzas and she offered me a sample because she said not everyone likes them. I want to give this place another chance though. Runza is a local treasure. While they aren't as fast as other fast food joints, they ate 100 times better. The burgers are made to order, it's always hot, fresh and tasty. Their menu has everything from salads to burgers to the original Runza sandwich, which is like a true American burrito. If you like fast, good food, then this is the place to go! read more

Although I have never actually had a runza, I love this place! I always get the mushroom and Swiss burger and it is delicious. My son likes the cheese runza so those must be good as he is pretty picky. The kids meal comes with a coupon for a free ice cream treat. This place is awesome, by far one of the best fast food restaurants in the area! I'm here quite frequently (far more than I probably should be) and the staff is always pleasant and does their very best to make things cheaper if possible! I like Runza, but this location has problems. They messed up my meal by giving me the wrong sandwich a couple weeks ago. They gave me a coupon for a free combo to make it up to me. So I went to get my free combo today and their drive through took like 15 minutes, but they apologized and said they made all my food fresh. To make it up to me this time, they threw in two 'free treat' coupons.....that expired 2 months ago! The chili today tastes like it got too hot and burned to the bottom of the pot. Runza is a local favorite. The Runza sandwiches have cooked cabbage as part of the recipe and I think they are great. The burgers are like homemade but better. I think Runza has the best fries (crinkle cut, better to hold onto ketchup). The manager at the Samson way location, Ryan, is a genuinely friendly person and he always strives to make his customers the best food possible. They also have chicken strips (the good kind, not nuggets) which kids and adults both enjoy. This Runza carries Pepsi products. Plenty of seating and a drive thru. read more
